Beautiful hotel with spacious and comfortable rooms. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of options. Most of all, the staff were wonderful—friendly, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our stay. We had a great experience and would happily stay here again.

The staff were amazing. We had a wedding and asked if we could get the key early but when we arrived they had cleaned our room first so we would be able to check in early and drop everything off. They went above and beyond

This pub is a special gem in a beautiful quiet Cotswold village with wonderful character and ambiance. The staff were fantastic so welcoming providing great service. The food was outstanding both for dinner and breakfast. The rooms ( the oak room & the old beams) were both beautifully decorated & the beds really comfortable. We stayed two nights and would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay.

Overall we loved the quality of the decor, fittings and extras in our rooms; the fresh coffee (including decaff) for the cafetiere; the local information and history of Ilmington including details of local walks; the friendly and helpful staff and the beautiful surroundings of the village. But it is the breakfast and the server that will live long in our memories. It was probably the best breakfast experience we have ever had. The local freshly prepared food was both plentiful and tasty and our server was so friendly, efficient and made for a great and enjoyable start to our day.

The fact we only stayed one night.

The hotel is wonderful , just in the right place away from the cotswolds crowds, in a quiet village near enough to the tourist areas and the staff were welcoming. Room size was great, stayed in the Cotswold , but saw the other rooms which were also of a good size , tastily decorated with lovey additions to room ,sofa and chairs even books about the history of the village they had everything you could need for break. We ate in the restaurant one night waiter / maitre de was attentive and professional. He was Genuinely interested and friendly ,didn't rush us , can recommend the olive mash and lamb and the Fish and chips. The atmosphere was relaxing, The choice for breakfast was super which was chosen the night before so our table was set and ready for us in the morning - delicious !

I’ve stayed twice before. Good quiet location, friendly staff. Good selection of drinks. Great breakfast.

No air conditioning which was a problem as 32 degrees. I thought the dinner menu needed a few more choices but food well cooked and presented.

The Howard Arms sits on a pretty village green. The room was excellent, with a king size bed and large bathroom that included a walk-in shower. Very quiet as well. Dinner in the pub was excellent and the menu offered some interesting choices. Breakfast was also very good and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Would definitely go back.

Stunning old pub in a quintessentially English village. Beautiful flower garden to sit in and enjoy a drink. Professionally-run restaurant serving thoughtful, tasty & appetising food. Sensible wine list. We stayed over night and slept so well in the Summer Room. Cool & quiet with all the conveniences we needed & spotlessly clean. A top end cooked breakfast was included in our room rate making our stay excellent value to boot. All staff were marvellous. Highly recommended.

Excellent location with high quality facilities,food and staffing.

The only issue was the stay at the hotest temperatures ever recorded so the bedroom was VERY hot.However there was a magnificent garden which could be used to sit in.This is not a criticism but something to think about for the future.

The pub is simply amazing, with its historical features from the 1600. It has a beautiful pub area with a stunning fireplace. The room we stayed in, the old beams, was incredible. Spacious, with these beautiful old beams on the ceiling, and a clean and modern bathroom. The breakfast was a 10/10 and the staff were very welcoming and efficient. We stayed for 2 nights and had our Easter lunch at the pub which was delicious. I highly recommend it and look forward to be back again.

The styling it was amazing

Absolutamente todo: un paraíso para quedarse en los Cotswolds. Maravillosa habitación con una cama súper confortable y todo tipo de amenidades, el bar más acogedor para tomar una cerveza y cenar, y un restaurante de primera, cenamos el Sunday roast y otra noche en la Pie Night, y quedamos maravillados con la calidad y cantidad de los platos, delicioso! Y el desayuno, un espectáculo cada mañana. La atención inmejorable.

Room was lovely and traditional with exposed beams etc. Breakfast was excellent- no buffet all freshly served. Staff were helpful. Car parking fine too. Location very good.

Spacious bedroom, beautifully clean. Friendly staff who even gave my husband a free drink to celebrate his birthday. The food was excellent both the evening meal and breakfast. The dining room was beautifully decorated. A very pretty village. Would visit again and recommend to friends.

My sister- law and I stayed here for 1 night. The staff were extremely friendly and were all very welcoming. The dinner and breakfast were excellent , great flavours and well presented. The chef certainly knows how to cook. We will be back next year. I might even treat my husband!

With its old world charm and ever so friendly staff it was like turning the clock back to an era where the customer really did matter. The incredible quiet during the night was something to look firward too.

There was absolutely nothing i didn’t like but the addition of fluffy bathrobes would have been nice.

The attention to detail and the enthusiasm of the staff, all the staff. The breakfast and dinner, the bar choices, all first class.

The weather.

Whole place is stunning. Bedrooms are massive and bed is comfy and clean. Breakfast was really nice too

My only critique would be. There was a dog constantly barking outside at around 8am - probably one of the neighbours who ch the place has no control over

Very comfortable, beautifully appointed room with ensuite bathroom - with shower AND bath! Breakfast very good - and an excellent restaurant for dinner. Plenty of free, off road, parking.

Always feels a bit odd having to order breakfast the evening before...

All the staff are so welcoming and helpful. Beautiful room overlooking the green with a most welcome fan in the heatwave. Excellent dinner in the restaurant and a joy to sit out in the garden as such a hot evening, Lovely breakfast in the main dining area. Stunning flower dispay on the dresser, Second visit. We will return!

Return trip to one of our favourite country pubs

We chose the Howard Arms as a good place to stay as it is not far from Hidcote Gardens. We also wanted somewhere that served food on a Sunday evening, which is sometimes difficult to find. The Howard Arms was a good choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful, our room was comfortable and well equipped (we even had a fan in the room which was important because it was really hot whilst we were there). We ate in the dining room on both evenings and the food and service were very good. Breakfast was also just what we wanted and served with a smile.

We didn't find anything we didn't like. It was all just as expected. Great to stay somewhere where all the staff are friendly.

I could not recommend this hotel enough - every aspect has exceeded our expectation. The rooms were spacious and immaculate. The amenities are thoughtfully placed and had everything you can think of. Breakfast was included in the rate and the portion was very generous. Wish we could stay for longer!

The Howard Arms has a warm, inviting feel to it. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds extremely comfortable – I had a great night’s sleep. The chef even came in early at 6:15 to prepare breakfast for us before we left, which was above and beyond. A really lovely stay.

Cannot praise this hotel too highly. Rooms, facilities and food just exceptional on all measures; staff unfailingly helpful and polite, and astonishingly attentive without being in the least overbearing. A beautiful garden to add to the pleasure.

The location was excellent. A not yet discovered part of the Cotswolds. Beautiful area with nice walk up the hill to see sheep and their lambs before dinner.

The hotel was a little out of the way in a small village and it was wonderfully quiet there. The room was very cosy, the staff very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the WLAN worked very well. Dinner and breakfast at the hotel were excellent. There was plenty of parking right next to the hotel. It was a shame that I could only stay there for one night as my holiday was over. I would stay there again at any time.

Tucked in a quiet village yet close to many other Cotswold experiences we loved our stay here. Rooms are spacious and comfy, staff are friendly and helpful and it was nice to come home to the pub and restaurant after a long day of exploring.

Such a pretty setting and made to feel very welcome. Beautiful place to rest and relax whilst visiting local area. Clean and very friendly staff. We love this place. Viv was brilliant and made our trip complete with very friendly manner and humour. She’s a diamond! The whole experience was lovely and we love to keep returning here.

The accommodation was homely and comfortable in a stunning location. The staff were personable and friendly. Each morning, we were greeted warmly for breakfast. The food was fantastic. Highly recommend visiting this gem and hopefully, we will get the opportunity to stay again!

Had a lovely 2 night stay , stayed in the summer room which we could not fault . Service in the pub area very good and ate the first night in the pub restaurant which again was great .

From the moment we stepped through the door to one of the nicest welcomes we have had at a hotel to the moment we left was just perfect. Our room, ‘The Study’ was superb, and so clean and comfortable, and the decor and design is beautiful. Welcome tray with great selection of teas and cafetière for coffee. We slept so well. The dining room is amazing as are all the staff, and again one of the best breakfasts ever. Howard Arms you are amazing, we will be back. Thank you Keith & Gwen

The staff were absolutely lovely, and the breakfast spread was one of the best I've had at a B&B. My only suggestion would be that I noticed a few spiders behind the headboard and curtain, along with some dust and cobwebs in a couple of areas, which gave the impression that those spots hadn't been used in a while. Aside from that, I couldn't find anything to fault.
