Altona Hotel

Chose it for its access to an indoor pool and its town locality. Pool was clean and well set up , staff were very friendly and close to all town amenities was great. Hotel bar and restaurant was not too expensive and good selection of food.

Maybe some added toiletries - soap/shampoos may have helped for 2 guests.

As soon as we walked in the hallway to our room, the odor of urine was insanely strong. Beds were horrible. You could literally feel the springs in bed. The manager did not deal with our situation very well. We stayed one night and wanted our money back for the other 2 nights. Won't ever be coming back!

Pictures don't match the reality of the rooms. Dirty, hairs in the bathtub, very old hotel, lots of humidity and mold, the carpet is very old and dirty, the bathroom has the bare minimum: 2 tiny soaps and a miniature bottle of shampoo. The bed is not comfortable at all and the air conditioning is too much noisy. We had a bad night. To get to the pool, you have to go outside, walk across the street, and cross the parking lot to get into another building and swim in a basic pool, an old hot tub. There are towels at the pool though, the only good thing. No breakfast, but there’s a Tim Hortons a 1-minute walk away; the surrounding pizzerias are low quality. Bad experience, I wouldn’t go back and I don’t recommend this hotel.

Extremely loud air conditioner Some bizarre renovations, bathroom door doesn't close it's just a rolling door. The light switch is outside the bathroom and is blocked by the door when it's open. Shower also doesn't have a door, a half wall getting water on the floor.

The hotel was very clean and in a good location. There is nothing fancy about it, but it was just fine for our needs, and a good value. We'd stay there again if traveling through the area. Altona is a lovely little town with friendly people .

Providing breakfast would be a huge plus. The hallway was a little musty and hot, but air conditioning worked well in the room. The main door to the second bulding where our room was could have been marked a little better, and perhaps been more welcoming, but that's a minor concern and an easy fix.

The room was very clean. And the mattress on the bed was very good. I slept better in the hotel than at home. I wished I could have taken that mattress with me. 😉 The pool and hot tub were clean and well maintained. The staff connected nicely by text messages. They always got back to me right away when I had questions.

The location ofvthw hotel is great. I was traveling for a job at the local canola oil plant, so the driving to work was 3 minutes.

The price for the single room with two beds was too high as I needed something simple to spend a night between two shifts at work. Needed something smaller and cheaper..

The price was good. Although very simple, the breakfast was unexpected so it was a bonus. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

There was little to no hot water in the am. The climate control was very confusing to use. Although the rooms themselves were nice and clean the common rooms were dated.

I'm a U.S. citizen and was stuck in Canada, waiting for my passport to arrive in the mail. Everyone at the hotel was friendly, considerate, and genuinely concerned about my well-being. Each time I extended my stay (ended up waiting about a week for my passport), they asked if I was okay and ensured I was able to afford the extension. While my passport never arrived (I ended up having to travel to the Consulate for an emergency replacement), the Altona staff were so great, making the experience so much better. Really appreciate their kindness.

My friends and I were in Altona for one night; we made the trip from South Dakota in the U.S. and were in anitoba as a bucketlist item to spend a night in all the Canadian provinces. We got to the hotel rather late, and the front desk attendant was friendly and helpful. It's an older property, but the room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.

It was clean and newly renovated. Easy check-in and check-out. Great environment and neighborhood.

We had a wonderful stay at Altona. We we greeted so openly by the hostess. This hotel was totally dog friendly, even allowing us to bring our pooch for dinner. The room was clean, large and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this hotel to other dog owners especially.

Not as advertised. They made it seem to be almost a resort like experience. Not the case. Felt like I would have left there with love. Did not spend the night. We just left after seeing the property and the rooms. Disgusting.

Cleanliness of the rooms. Overall, it is a very good place to stay: very kind staff, clean rooms, and good location.

The pool is not working all the time. Hot tub activation not working on Thursday and the shower drain has hair that was there since the first day of our use of the pool. We extended for another day and moved to a standard room, it was clean but old. There is rust stain on the tub, the entry rug is damaged and toilet flush not working well. My suggestion: Upkeep the facilites and update a bit the room fixtures.

The hotel was good. The front desk is right beside a bar. So it gives a bit of a strange feeling for a hotel.

I just like when I arrive the service had ready my room and the other thing is there was not pet's in the hotel because I don't like animals in a motel or hotel 🫡👍👍

Really liked the location and how there were numerous restaurants within a 5 min walk. I had an exam to write remotely during our stay and the wifi was stable through the exam. Room was very clean. We had an extra person join our group and were able to add a cot which was very much appreciated.

Staff upon check in was a little short with us since we were early. I had called earlier in the week and was told this was ok and confirmed again the morning of but it wasn’t written anywhere i guess? Other than that it was good.

Arrived on July 1. Restaurant was closed. Kitchen closed. Fortunately a Tim Horton coffee shop was only a block away. And provided us something to eat for supper. Left before the breakfast “included” in the hotel was available. We left at 7am. Breakfast started at 8am. Room was clean. If you only need a place to sleep, then this meets the mark. The description of the hotel says there’s a casino. It did have VLT’s in the bar. ☺️

There wasn’t much explanation or understanding on my part of where our hotel room was but that was 100% just me not paying attention. Once I understood it made a lot of sense. Excited to have an opportunity to stay again.

Stayed for skating competition and it was very easy to go back and forth. Fun pool for kids the chill in.

It was unique, the toilet didn't flush unless you lifted the lid and arm manually, fan in bathroom did not work. Exterior looked like a old worksheet. Holes in the couch, dirty curtains, oven didn't work. Staff was so nice!

I have stayed there a couple of times and the Beds are hard and old they need to be replaced. Also there is a old stuffy smoke smell in the rooms that we have stayed in. Service is good.

Excellent mattresses and pillows. Great sleep! Not enough bath towels for three. There was only one cup in the room. The breakfast coffee was excellent! Best burger and fries of the year! Oh, we couldn’t get the t.v. to work. Even called in a man friend who couldn’t get it to work either. Yes, we followed the instructions.

We spent two nights in the business class area. Clean, well kept, functional. We wanted to extend our stay by one night and had to be moved to the B block. Much rougher, stained floors, chipped countertops, and the hot water ran out during a shower.
