Coco Cottage

I’ve been traveling around Southeast Asia with my wife, and Coco Cottage was a very pleasant surprise. We like to visit places that are off the mainstream tourist path, and that’s exactly why we chose Koh Ngai. If you haven’t researched the island yet, here are a few tips. Koh Ngai is a stunning island, and part of its charm is the rocky and coral-filled shoreline. This makes it an excellent place for snorkeling. Some of the best snorkeling we experienced was actually right in the reefs around the hotel’s beach. Following the staff’s recommendation, we also went diving around the two nearby islands, and it was magnificent. It genuinely felt like diving inside an aquarium. Parents traveling with small children should be aware that almost the entire stretch of beach has rocks, coral, and marine life. For this reason, Koh Ngai is generally not the most suitable island for very young children. If you are not comfortable walking barefoot in these conditions, water shoes can be very helpful, both for swimming and for snorkeling. We stayed in a bungalow in front of the small lake, with an ocean view. The room was very clean, beautifully maintained, and finished with good-quality materials. Everything was impeccable. The outdoor shower was also a lovely touch — I really enjoyed taking a shower under the moonlight every night. The swimming pool was great as well, especially with the sea view. The restaurant was also very good. We had almost all of our meals there, and I thought the prices were very fair considering the location and the quality of the food. If you’ve been to Thailand before, you already know how friendly and welcoming Thai people are. But the staff here were exceptional, even by Thai standards. Unfortunately, I forgot their names, which I really regret, because every single member of the team was incredibly kind, helpful, and attentive. We stayed for four nights in late August, and overall, Coco Cottage exceeded our expectations.

Great place completely off the beaten track

Very isolated. Few other tourists. No very small children. Good range of well priced food. Nice pool. Good shower that was open to the sky. Nice, obliging staff.

Transfer from Trang Airport is expensive but no other airport is closer. Wet landing so be prepared for water over the knees depending on tide. Beach is not really suitable for swimming.

Schon der Empfang im Hotel war wunderbar und die Details wieder einmal vollkommen (Erfrischungstücher und -Getränk, liebevoll mit Orchideenblüten geschmückt). Der Bungalow war sehr großzügig, alles aus örtlichen Rohstoffen gefertigt und sehr geschmackvoll. Essen im Restaurant war sehr gut und nicht überteuert. Alles sehr weitläufig sodass man sich nicht auf die Pelle rückt. Zum Schnorcheln ideal, zum Schwimmen muss man weit rausgehen. Preis /Leidtungsverhältnis passt hier absolut. Rundum war alles traumhaft, kann ich nur empfehlen. Leider waren wir nur 1 Nacht.

Super schöner Salon = Restaurant, Bibliothek, Rezeption - alles zusammen. Personal sehr aufmerksam und Super freundlich. Bungalows sehr schön.

Der Strandanschnitt ist zum Baden nicht geeignet, man muss 1-200 Meter gehen. Es gibt nur mittig Stufen zum Strand. Vor den Bungalows sieht man den Strand nicht, weil eine Schutzwand für die Wellen davor ist. Kein Kühlschrank, aber pro Tag 1 Icebucket

Zimmer viel viel besser als auf den Fotos, super modern. Das Bett war sehr hart, aber das ist geschmackssache

leider muss man es so sagen, großen Abzug gibt es beim Essen. Das Frühstück war in Ordnung, aber was wir als Mittag oder Abend essen hatten, war wirklich schlecht. Leider muss ich es so hart sagen. Das Pad Kra Pao war wirklich nicht gut, habe es dann mit einer Bolognese versucj‘ht, die war auch nicht lecker. Sehr schade., das Redtaurant ist sicherlich eins der schönsten auf der Insel.

No help for arrival and departure, impersonal. Very Bad internet, AC off in hottest part of the day, unnecessarily complicated systems for coffee and water, super kind staff…not educated in customer service…or English…the small pool was full of screaming and splashing children throughout the day…Guests race to beach chairs and mark spots with towels before disappearing for hours (German style) and there’s a bit of scarcity for chairs/lounges near beach considering the number of guests! For better or worse, showers are outdoors and commode room is a sweat box…expensive for food and accommodation given relative quality…Ngai is also a manufactured island experience with no local population and very little infrastructure…I couldn’t help but wonder where the contents of the loo went when I pressed the button (in the sweat box) and it all disappeared…

Es war fast alles toll! Angefangen beim herzlichen Empfang, über das schöne Zimmer, den tollen Strand und Pool, bis zum Frühstück. Wirklich hervorzuheben: das Personal ist außerordentlich freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen im Restaurant schmeckt sehr gut. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder!!

Das Essen ist relativ teuer und es kommt noch 10% Servicecharge on top. Es gibt jedoch genügend Möglichkeiten, außerhalb zu essen. Die Liegenauflagen am Strand könnten erneuert und gepflegter sein. Passen nicht zum ansonsten schicken Ambiente, sind aber authentisch :)

Hotel is probably the best of them all on the island. Facilities are good but the greenery around is a little rundown down. The view however is worth staying. Good breakfast

The most beautiful place I stayed in Thailand. This place truly feels like a little paradise, everything is designed in a way that makes you never want to leave the hotel. The property itself is stunning, perfectly blending into the natural landscape, and without a doubt the most beautiful hotel on the island. There’s always a peaceful spot to relax without crowds, giving it a very private and exclusive feel. The views are breathtaking, the rooms are incredible, the breakfast is just so good, and the staff are genuinely amazing. We stayed for three nights, but honestly, I could have stayed for two weeks.

The island itself is very small, with just the beach as its main “street.” Because of that, there are quite a lot of hotels and rooms packed into the area. With fewer rooms, the experience could feel even more exclusive and in harmony with the surroundings.

Really authentically Thai & very impressive but not in a grandeur type of way more rustic & natural & very sustainable. Metres from the ocean with views to die for & so peaceful & relaxing. Small & quant with wonderful hotel staff who took the time to get to know each guest & ensure your stay was a happy & memorable one.

Definitiv das schönste Resort auf der Insel. Ich war zum zweiten Mal in dem Resort, aber insgesamt schon zum fünften Mal auf Koh Gnai. Wunderschöne liebevoll ausgestattete Bungalows, viele davon mit Meerblick. Ruhige chillige gepflegte Anlage mit sehr aufmerksamen Personal. Das Frühstück ist okay, gibt immer Obst, Gemüse, Müsli, Joghurt, Marmeladen, Spiegelei, Rührei oder Omelett. Es gibt ebenfalls hausgemachtes Sauerteigbrot, welches leider nicht bis zum Ende der Frühstückszeit angeboten wird, so dass uns leider meist nur das weniger leckere Toastbrot blieb. Massagen werden im Resort nicht angeboten aber im Nachbarhotel gibt es eine fantastische Massage mit Voranmeldung an der Rezeption des Thapwarin Resorts. Wir haben nicht so oft im Restaurant gegessen, war gut, es gibt aber in der Nähe durchaus preiswerte sehr schmackhafte Alternativen. Die Cocktails sind sehr lecker. In anderen Bewertungen habe ich gelesen, dass die Handtücher nicht wirklich sauber seien, man hat hier scheinbar vor kurzem Neuanschaffungen vorgenommen, also alles wirklich neu und sauber. Absolute Weiterempfehlung des Resorts!

Eigentlich gar nichts, nur wäre es schön, wenn man auf den kleinen Inseln Thailands dazu übergehen könnte, Wasser in Glasflaschen zur Wiederbefüllung zu nutzen ganz ähnlich wie auf den Malediven. Des Weiteren fällt mir jedes Mal, wenn ich auf der Insel bin auf, dass das allseits bekannte Plastikproblem immer stärker wird. Wir nehmen grundsätzlich Plastikmüll etc. aus dem Wasser und vom Strand auf und entsorgen es in den Restaurants und Hotels. Allerdings ist es auch in diesem Resort so, dass ein paar Meter außerhalb des eigenen Geländes sowie an der hoteleigenen Bootsanlegestelle Müll, z.B. Plastikflaschen, Getränkedosen etc. nicht beseitigt wird, was sehr schade ist, da es meiner Meinung nach der einzige Kritikpunkt in diesem Resort ist.

Sehr schöne und saubere Anlage. Die Cottages sind wirklich schön. Hier wird wirklich an alles gedacht. Die Mitarbeiter sind auch sehr freundlich und unterstützen bei der An-und Abreise. Frühstück war super mit wechselnder und großer Auswahl.

Strandabschnitt ist tatsächlich hier nicht so toll. Mir gefällt es besser wenn der Strand naturbelassen ist. Hier ist alles mit Sandsäcken verbarrikadiert. Der angrenzende Strand ist auch etwas vermüllt. Es sind auch zu wenig Liegen vorhanden.

The location and attention to detail was pristine. From our arrival, the staff were on point. Helped with our luggage of the boat. Venus, Amy, Kumpa, Mo especially helped us with small conveniences. The food was amazing. Gotta try the mango and passion fruit smoothies.

Would have liked to have a fridge in the rooms to keep water cold.

Alles :-) Das Resort auf Koh Ngai hat mich rundum begeistert: Schon bei der Ankunft wurde ich herzlich mit einem erfrischenden Kaltgetränk empfangen. Die wunderschön gelegenen Bungalows direkt am Meer bieten eine traumhafte Kulisse und pure Entspannung. Kulinarisch war es ein absolutes Highlight – das beste Pad Thai und die leckerste Tom Kha Gai Suppe meiner gesamten vierwöchigen Thailandreise! Abgerundet wird das Ganze durch ein äußerst freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal, das den Aufenthalt unvergesslich macht.

We stayed here with a group of friends - for 3 nights - earlier this month in 2 adjoining bungalows and had a fantastic time. The staff was super helpful And friendly, the facility itself was designed beautifully and appropriately “rustic” on this small island with no roads. Air conditioning was mainly available from late afternoon/early evening until early morning (which is when you really need it most) which didn’t bother us. The only thing that was maybe a small inconvenience was the absence of a fridge in the room. The resort gives you one free bucket of ice per day to compensate for it. You can also opt for picking up your complementary drinking water in a pitcher (rather than having the staff stock your room with plastic bottles of water. All in all: The resort was great, the staff super ice, the island’s beauty undeniable, perfect conditions for a relaxing beach vacation. Compared with “simpler” more basic resorts and beach hotels in Southern Thailand we couldn’t help but notice that there is one caviat: the nicer a resort, the “stuffier” the guests that stay there. Meaning behaviors like : reserving their favorite beach /pool chairs from early in the morning (by throwing a towel on it) until late afternoon and thus preventing other guests from using them at all (even if unoccupied for hours at a time…really??). And generally not being the friendlier open minded crowd that one tends to meet at “cheaper places”. Oh well…

It would hard to exaggerate just how wonderful this property is. Everything is designed to calm, to relax, to center you. It’s the location, the quality of the rooms, the wonderfully friendly and helpful staff, well prepared meals (best on the island) and the overall vibe that drew us in and embraced us. We loved relaxing around the pool or at the beach, or in our cozy seaside cottage that we never made it to another island, or even snorkeling. We made this our last stop after 5 weeks traveling around Southeast Asia, and it was the perfect ending of a great trip.

The only thing we didnt like was having to leave.

Wir waren nur zwei Nächte dort und wären gerne länger geblieben. Das Personal war super aufmerksam und freundlich, hat uns bei allem unterstützt und den Aufenthalt sehr entspannt gestaltet. Der Strand ist wirklich schön, und man kann dort gut schnorcheln. Die Bungalows sind gut ausgestattet; lediglich ein Kühlschrank und mehr Tagesbetten im Schatten wären schön gewesen. Wir würden definitiv wiederkommen.

Beautiful tranquil location, no tvs, great internet, rooms clean, quaint, close to the beach, beautiful pool, exceptional staff, restaurant food excellent, when the tide is in the sea is superb, when tide out coral reef is hard on the feet but gives you beach walking opportunities to access about 6 bars and 4 restaurants x

Loved everything

We chose Coco Cottage to spend my birthday here and I can't express enough how much I loved it there! The rooms are so beautifly done, the bamboo shower and details everywhere are just so nice and cute. The staff was extremly friendly and helpful and of course the location is literally a paradise. The coral reef is fun to explore especially in the early afternoon, there is so much fish! You can use their snorcheling gears or bring your own, just please wear the sun protection that is coral reef safe so we as tourists don't ruin this gem and the life under water 🙏 The pool in Coco is very photogenic with all the palm trees around you and the sea in the front :) Don't worry at all about the few hours without the A/C, you will probably want to spend this time outaide anyway, there are plenty of beds in the shade and you won't even know it and the A/C will be back on. We visited during high season and it was shut off only between 10-14 which is really fine :) If you are a coffee lover, there is a Light My Fire bar, where you can walk for about 10 mins and you can ask for a hand brew/ V60 coffee with wide selection and flavours!

Just one thing I would like to say which my wish that other visitors respected that this is a stay for no babies and we did see one or two kids that were definitely below 3 years old so they probably lied when completing the booking. Nothing against kids bit we wanted an escape without screaming and it felt like there was way too many little kids that were below 5. I kind of wish this was just adults only stay.

מקום מדהים! מלון מושלם באווירה נעימה. צוות העובדים היה נהדר ושירותי להפליא. החדר נוח, יש תיק לים ולונג וכל יום מקבלים בקבוקי מים , מקלחת פתוחה לשמיים. נקי מאוד ובערב גם מרססים ליתושים אם מבקשים. יש גם ארוחת בוקר טובה. ללא ספק זה מקום לחזור אליו. היה קשה מאוד להפרד.

Sehr schön ruhig, abseits vom Trubel. Der Bungalow war sehr sauber und nett eingerichtet. Das Frühstück war hervorragend, sehr große Auswahl. Hervorzuheben ist das Personal, sehr sehr freundlich und mega hilfsbereit. Wir mussten einen Tag verlängern, das hat wunderbar funktioniert, sie haben sich auch darum gekümmert, das unser Transfer verschoben werden konnte. Mega

Beautiful beach but that’s about it.

Rooms were outdated and no curtains. Toilets kept breaking and loud. Outside shower had almost no pressure. Breakfast was bad. Just instant coffee at breakfast. Staff does not speak English and live in poor living conditions next door to the hotel. Worrying as to how they are treated.

Hotel je výnimočný – ide o krásne a pokojné miesto s príjemnou atmosférou. Personál je vysoko profesionálny a venuje maximálne úsilie tomu, aby hosťom vyhovel vo všetkých smeroch. Hotel disponuje vynikajúcou reštauráciou a veľmi dobre udržiavaným bazénom. Nádherné výhľady na more a džungľu výrazne prispievajú k celkovému zážitku z pobytu. Upratovanie bolo precízne. Oceňujeme aj možnosť ošetrenia chatky proti komárom, ktorú sme využili a vďaka ktorej sme nemali s komármi žiadne problémy. Ide o miesto, kde nám nič nechýbalo. Hotel dba na detail čo je veľmi mile a umocňuje to výnimočnosť. Určite odporúčame absolvovať aj výlety na okolité ostrovy, ktoré predstavujú nezabudnuteľný zážitok. Jeden sme absolvovali - zabezpečila nám ho recepcia hotela. Ďakujeme celému tímu hotela, že ste nám vytvorili prostredie na skvelú časť našej dovolenky po Thajsku. Pozdravujeme :)

Nepovedala by som, nepáčilo. V hoteli, ako aj na ostrove bolo v tom čase viac rodín s menšími deťmi. To sme nečakali no výrazne nám to dovolenku neovplyvnilo.

Przepiekny, hotelik, polozony tuz nad morzem, w zieleni. Świetna restauracja, bardzo pomocna i mila obsluga.

La plage, plus étroite et rocheuse que devant les autres resort, mais il suffit de se déplacer de quelques dizaines de mètres. Le seul risque est de devoir un peu marcher dans l'eau à marée haute ! Un détail : le manque de lampes de chevet, ce qui oblige à lire en pleine lumière, et à devoir se relever pour éteindre. La structure de poteaux en béton, qui borde le petit canal à nénuphars, fait un peu "chantier", pas terminé, ce qui jure avec le très beau décor tout autour. Une simple palissage en bambou suffirait ?

Пляж напротив отеля разочаровал. Был готов к отливам, но не был готов к тому, что на протяжении всего проживания будет дуть сильный ветер, делая купание некомфортным по причине волн. При этом на другой стороне острова на paradise beach ничего подобного не наблюдалось. Но до этого пляжа от отеля около часа пешком, в т.ч. кусок через джунгли с тучами москитов.
