Comfortable room and staff were very helpful. The swimming pool was a nice extra.

Free parking, great amenities, kind staff, great for dogs and kids.

The evening restaurant receptionists were not very attentive and we kept waiting despite them being visibly not busy and ignoring us. We went to have dinner at the bar, which was great. Just a pity, as the rest of the team was really amazing.

A lovely hotel on the edge of Groningen. Plenty of parking and Ev chargers. City is in cycling distance or there is a bus stop right beside it. You can buy well priced tickets at the desk. Breakfast was lovely too and hotel surroundings are nice and green.

The shower in the room has no door so if you were travelling with a friend there is no privacy. Also the water makes the whole entrance to the shower very wet .

Very comfy and spacy room, nice wellness area, free coffee and tea located just next to our room, free parking, just 10 minutes drive from city center. As we did not need to service our room every day we got free drinks in return - great idea - other hotels should follow it too!:-)

Was very pleased with the overall stay apart from didn’t arrive till late as 1 of our bikes broke down so had to have a coffee and piece of cake and was told they had to be taken outside to eat and drink and had been raining so no cover and was really cold I’ve never stayed anywhere and told that before but that was the only problem apart from that was excellent and would stay as a group again

Tout! Nous ne nous attendions pas à ce standing. Nous avons eu la magnifique surprise d'avoir un énorme balcon d'angle avec une vue superbe et dégagée. La chambre était spacieuse, lumineuse et vraiment très jolie. En plus parking gratuit et le bus juste à côté de l'hôtel! C'était parfait !

Locatie niet in het centrum, wel fietsafstand. Aantal keer personeel moeten aanspreken op lege melk bij koffiemachine.

Koffie of thee is helaas niet meer op de kamer zelf maar op de 2e etage vh hotel in het atrium. Daar was al een tijdje niks aangevuld of schoongemaakt. De kussens waren trouwens heel plat en er is geen kast met andere. Verder was het geweldig.

We werden hartelijk ontvangen en goed geholpen bij de receptie. Ontbijt was, zoals gewoonlijk, erg goed.

We hadden niet het idee dat de wc (goed) was schoongemaakt. De wc stonk erg naar urine en er zaten vlekken op de wc bril en op de vloer. Bij het restaurant hadden wij een reservering gemaakt bij Bar Cherie, echter toen we daar aan kwamen werd er gezegd dat wij niet geholpen konden worden “want de tablet is er niet”. Wij moesten naar het andere restaurant, daar zouden wij verder geholpen worden. Echter, werden wij zonder uitleg bij Restaurant Groen geplaatst. De uitleg hebben wij ook niet gekregen.

Van der Valk Hotel Groningen actually has a lot going for it on paper. The rooms are nice and spacious, the breakfast is delicious and varied, and they have a great brand-new gym and a lovely pool 🏊‍♂️🏋️. We even rented their bikes and cycled all around Groningen, which was fantastic! 🚲💨 Unfortunately, the entire stay was completely ruined by one ridiculous experience... 🤦‍♂️ The "Green Option" Trap: The hotel offered us two free drinks if we opted out of room cleaning for a day. Sounded like a sweet deal! We agreed and simply asked for fresh towels instead. Fast forward to our final evening: we sat down to enjoy our "free" drinks, only to be told that the voucher apparently didn't apply to "expensive" drinks—only basic soft drinks, wine, or beer 🍷🍺. After a long and frustrating argument, we ended up paying €20 for two drinks, while receiving zero room cleaning AND zero fresh towels 🧻❌. Talk about a downgrade! Verdict: It was the absolute worst trade deal in hotel history. We felt completely tricked, and for that reason alone, we will never accept a deal like that again—and we won't be coming back to this hotel. 2 stars! 👎🍸

Er kon geen enkel raam open, ook niet op een kier. Dat voelt wel heel benauwd. Ook jammer dat je op zaterdagavond na 23.30 niets meer in een bar kan drinken.

Unfortunately had to cancel 1 out of 2 nights due to family emergency. No compassion, no options - 'you booked via Booking so it's your fault'. Room could have easilly been rented out as there was a hige concert in town, so disappointing. Had to wait 40 min to get a drink in the restaurant. main course never showed, so had to leave without food. Bath drain was broken so couldnt get the water out of it. We're regular bookers for Van der Valk but never have been so dissapointed (booked two nights for almost 700 euro!) - esp. because of the lack of service and understanding. Never book this one again....

Comfortable spacious and clean room, the hotel is outside of the city in beautiful surroundings, convinient large parking, perfect breakfast, kind and welcoming staff.

Ik verbleef hier al diverse keren en kom terug vanwege de locatie en omdat het gewoon een heel goed hotel is. Met goede maaltijdopties ook. En vrijwel zonder uitzondering vriendelijk en hulpvaardig personeel.

Toen ik in de ochtend van vertrek aangaf dat ik om 12:00 u wilde lunchen (reservering werd gemaakt, geen probleem) en dat ik graag iets later dan strak om 11:00 u de kamer wilde verlaten, omdat een meeting was uitgevallen en om niet ergens te hoeven rondhangen tot de lunch, werd mij verteld dat zelfs een half uurtje later alleen onder bijbetaling kon. Dat vond ik niet zo vriendelijk gebracht, maar ook onnodig strikt en niet zo gastvrij. Ik ben een terugkerende gast en het hotel was niet vol.

Our second VanderValk hôtel this weekend and no regrets ! We will come back. The reception staff is very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is beautiful with a green area, you can sit and eat outside. The restaurants are very nice with a good choice and quality. The parking is huge and free of charge. You can take buses at the P&R / bus station nearby and reach Groningen easily. The room was large, clean and quiet; it was located in the second wing of the hotel above the wellness center. the bathroom had a very interesting concept the we liked : open area, walk in shower, separated toilet. You can prepare both coffee and tea. Lovely chocolates and bottles of waters welcomed us. Excellent air conditioning. Very nice swimming pool

We had a very inconvenient accomodation. Hotel failed to provide a suitable bed for our toddler. Hence we ended up using one bed for 3 of us. And no one could sleep well. The staffs were not cooperative at all and could not understand how difficult lack of good sleep means for a toddler not to mention the parents.

Unfortunately, as dog owners, we were more than unwelcome. We booked a deluxe room and indicated directly on Booking.com that we were traveling with our dog. The first thing we were told was that this wasn't possible in our room category and that we would have to be downgraded – something that has never happened to me in all the years we've traveled with a dog. Furthermore, after booking through Booking.com, we were informed that we would have to pay an additional €33 for the dog – we've never seen such a high price anywhere in all our years. So we had high expectations, but upon arrival we found neither a bowl, nor a bed, nor anything else. A basic, simple room with nothing. At least we were refunded €10 from the room price after some discussion due to the downgrade. So, if you want to feel downgraded and a bit ripped off as a dog owner, this is the place for you :(

The bar was closed a little too early for me as I came back late and wanted to hang out in the bar.

Der Wasserdruck in der Dusche (5.OG) lässt zu wünschen übrig!

Er was geen waterkoker / koffiezetapparaat op de kamer zelf, dat je gezien de prijs bij dit soort kamers mag verwachten. Een "koffie-corner" op een andere verdieping is wat mij betreft toch minder comfortabel.

Schönes neues Schwimmbad. Man ist schnell mit dem Rad in der Innenstadt. Das Zimmer war sehr geräumig und komfortabel.
