Lovely place nice people food was great
O
A hidden gem. Really nice village. Excellent stay before catching the ferry to Isle of Man. We watched a local cricket match which was only about 500 yards from the hotel. Never watched one before. Locals were nice and invited us into the clubhouse and bar.
Only a very minor thing which we reported and is being addressed was the mixer tap in the bathroom was giving out hot water on both hot and cold.
Fantastic location in a lovely little village.
Wonderful pub and food and large clear room
Nice quiet location. The breakfast offered excellent choice and the service we received was really top class
The drains in our room needed attention as they were a bit smelly, but the service we received negated that
Lovely quaint village. 2nd time stopping. Great pub and food
The breakfast was very good and enjoyable. The bed was clean and comfy
Lovely country pub and hotel
Ran out of a lot of choices of menu both Saturday and Sunday which was disappointing
Every staff member we met was cheerful and helpful. Great customer service. Good car parking space. Well cooked and presented meals.
Two flights of steps to room not ideal. Larger bed would have been appreciated.
The location the attention to detail and fitting you in on a last minute booking for food
There is nothing to not like
The staff were absolutely brilliant & couldn't do enough. I’d definitely stay here next time I’m in the area .
A great place to stay in such a lovely quaint old street. A lovely room with a comfortable bed and great shower and in such a great pub. I definitely recommend The Royal to stay if in the area.

Beautiful rooms, beautiful location. Great breakfast, friendly and efficient staff.
The accommodation is lovely and the food always delicious
Nothing not to like
The food at the Royal is excellent. The breakfast was amazing. The room had everything you could wish for. We had a small flask with fresh milk, ground coffee bags tea hot chocolate, bottles of water, all the toiletries. The bed was super comfy. We will definitely return here.
Nothing to dislike
Lovely pub . Clean and friendly.
All good. No dislikes
Pretty much everything, i think the drinks prices are a bit over the top, but will still go back there too much to enjoy about the place cheers
Room was very clean and comfortable with everything you could need. Food was excellent (dinner and breakfast). The staff were friendly and very helpful.
Most of it
In the morning we wanted to make a drink in the room but the coffee hadn't been replenished after the previous occupants. Also no biscuits or hot chocolate sachets. By the time we realised it was breakfast time so didn't say anything.
Everything. Comfortable and clean room

Bedroom was good with well presented en-suite and all exceptionally clean with good quality towels. Great selection on the breakfast menu - everything you could ask for really- with a good selection on the cold table. Plenty of free onsite parking !
No air conditioning! However there was a table fan for your use but was a little noisy as I'm a light sleeper. A suggestion I have for the hotel would be a magnifying mirror in the bathroom and perhaps a full length mirror.
The breakfasts were great. The Hotel was quaint and the room looked nice.
I had a few complaints over food and service whilst there. One of the issues they tried to resolve and on it's own would have been satisfactory but by the 3rd day, things went downhill. I have tried to contact them by phone to discuss a resolution and I have now waited 3 days for them to come back to me and I still haven't had a call or an email.
A lovely hotel , extremely comfortable room, very well equipped. Exceptionally clean. Super breakfast. Helpful, welcoming staff. Very good pub menu too with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
Smoking allowed in outdoor eating and drinking areas. A separate area for people who smoke would be good.
Location is great. Room was lovely, great shower and products, fresh milk in room and quality coffee bags! Bar meal was fabulous
It was a very hot evening /night abd although there was a fan there’s no AC.
Good comprehensive breakfast, comfortable beds, super shower and friendly staff.
The floor surface in the shower had seen better days and the curtain was too short.
All the staff were excellent helpful and friendly
Pre arrival instructions for locating the car park would have helped as the narrow one-way road we ended up on was 'interesting'. On the plus side we saw more of the village than we would otherwise have seen!
Good breakfast & Dinner
Room a bit small with no outlook
Clean spacious room. Lovely restaurant and beer garden
Excellent throughout. Lovely bar, restaurant and outside space.. Couldn't fault it. Parking plentiful.
Nothing.
Das Hotel liegt in einer sehr ruhigen Straße, und es ist nicht weit zum Strand. Das Hotelpersonal war sehr zuvorkommend, freundlich und professionell.
Es war alles super!
We were celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary, and stayed for 2 nights, and what a lovely 2 nights it was too. Staff from checking in were approachable, friendly and attentive. Food was just so tasty and very hot. The room we stayed in was number 11, and a really nice room, which also had a fan which we had on our bed side table, hope this stays i the room as it made our sleep more comfy, had a really good size bed, walk in shower. We also had breakfast which was very nice too. We highly recommend this hotel and restaurant to anyone.
Couldn't find any faults, if i had to say something, it would be that we were gutted the outdoor bar and Pizza area wasnt open. But we still sat outside with a drink.
Lovely, clean hotel. Staff all very accommodating. Very enjoyable stay

Traditional building set in a quiet location.
Ground floor room window was obstructed by the bins. No obvious check in location, had to be found by guesswork. Ran out of food to order a decent evening meal.
Quality furnishings in room. Staff were amazing comfy bed.good breakfast .easy parking.fabulous beer garden

A fairy tale inn in a fairy tale village! We loved everything about it. The beer garden behind was fabulous and the walk along the shore past whimsical properties was inspiring.

room was excellent, bed so comfy. meals all good especially the steak pie.
cups could have been cleaner
Room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty.
Fantastic dog friendly hotel close to the beach and a small park. The breakfast was superb. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Nothing.
Easy for the ferry friendly and helpful staff despite delayed arrival at 12.30 in the morning.Excellent breakfast
Needs to check all the room supplies are updated eg milk with the tea maker and hankies in the box
Great location, lovely decor and thoughtful touches like the sleep packs in the room. Breakfast was great and accommodating of fussy eater
Late check in process could have been clearer before arriving at property. However once we phoned and were talked through what to do it was brilliant
Nice room, friendly staff and excellent food.
It a great place in the village and nicely done out. Great outside area. Food was good.
We didn’t get the room we booked! Booked a twin room! Ended up with a sofa bed in a double room as extra bed which was extremely hard also could feel all of the frame work through the mattress so got very little sleep. Very disappointed. Some of the staff very disappointing and certainly need training as either avoided servicing us when we arrived! And one was obviously very new as when asked anything replied it’s not my job or I’ve not been trained to do that! That was actually when my husband told her the phone had been ringing for ages. Then a member of staff came out of the kitchen and picked the phone up out of the holder and put it back down again. We have stayed over the years a number of times but this time was very disappointing apart from the food.
The hotel was lovely and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was excellent.

Room was lovely and they even gave puppy a goodie bag which was lovely Breakfast was amazing Other bar meals were nice Staff were all very friendly , and loved our toy cockerpoo Brodie 6 months old
Nothing it's a beautiful place Nothing bad to say at all
Brilliant Breakfast
Bed cover had a stain on it.
Room really comfortable and good "extras" - Lavazza coffee machine great, good selection of teas, horlicks, biscuits, etc. Also great selection of beers in the bar and cannot fault the staff for their friendliness and efficiency.
Dinner OK but hiding 8 chips under the fish not great. Breakfast OK but toast under scrambled egg completely soggy and inedible and "locally sourced black pudding" looked and tasted like every other mass produced black pudding that I would get anywhere else in the country.
Very do friendly, good range of real ale
All good
Great breakfast, good selection of drinks, clean, comfortable room, good location.
Evening meal choice was a bit heavy. Room very hot and humid.
very clean and comfy, amazing breakfast
/
Lovely old building, great location and excellent breakfast ordered and served to the table.
Excellent service and food.
Great place to stay. Nice clean room. Staff available when needed. Massive beer garden. Big car park.. Nice walk down the coast to Morecambe. Would stay again
Food can be hit and miss depending on how busy they are and a little expensive for what you do get but can probably expect that for the atmosphere itself.
Everything really
Could do with air conditioning in room and restaurant
We always love the friendliness, the location, and our dog loves all the extra attention, too. Food is good too.
Nothing to dislike at all.
Excellent, possibly a smaller selection in size of breakfast grill.
Breakfast was excellent as was service!
Pillows were a bit soft for my liking.
Loved every service. Phil and Melissa particularly were excellent for breakfast.
Not a thing!
Very good
It is all very well decorated through out, attention to detail in the room was fantastic.

Lovely location, warm and welcoming staff and environment. Good room.
location
Staff were incredibly racist, purposely avoiding me and asking me "when are you leaving" point blank before I had even checked out.
Breakfasts are fantastic. The staff cater to your needs. The lunchtime and evening food is well cooked. Again nothing is to much.
If anything. Access from the bar to certain of the bedrooms. These rooms can only be accessed by exiting the building and re-entering further down the road.
Le personnel est aimable , les chambres sont propres et confortables , et le petit déjeuner très complet et très bon.
Rooms were modern and clean and well equipped for dogs. Staff were very helpful though a little disorganised at check in and check out.
It’s a popular pub in the evening and was quite loud till around 10:30pm. Just be aware if you like an early night!
Friendly staff and beautiful spacious room. Clean and modern.

Had a fantastic overnight stay. The room and hotel were excellent and the food was fabulous . Extremely pet friendly, we will be returning.
We had a very late arrival due to ferry delays but the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. A massive thank you for your hospitality and a brilliant breakfast. We will be back.
Location was great, nice stroll to seaside and local shops. Room was spacious and modern. Food was lovely. Garden bar area was really nice.
Stairs to room with heavy bags but totally worth it.
Great staff. We arrived late and they made sure we got sorted out.
Thought f everything earplugs eye mask pillow scent for sleeping
Nothing could have been better
The Royal at Heysham is a delightful pub with rooms of the highest quality. The staff are all lovely food and drink are wonderful and the setting is idyllic. Highly recommend!

Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Room was clean & tidy More adequate facilities

Great location, nice beer garden and modern but traditional pub. Had dinner which was lovely. Staff friendly & accommodating. Rooms clean with comfy bed/pillows and The White Company products were a lovely touch. A lot of thought gone in to making guests comfortable.
I ordered full english, they said we could only have scrambled eggs as gas not working. It took 40 minutes to come out. By the time it did the breakfast schedule had finished. A man was clearing away the milk, cereal, yoghurt etc. it would have been polite of him to ask if we needed anything else before he did (as is what usually happens in other places I have stayed). It all just seemed a bit disjointed but having said that, these things do happen.
We like the Royal very much.
Lighting in the room.
Everything. The staff were very helpful and friendly The food was excellent and plenty full. A really excellent location for the ferry to the IOM. If we were in this area again I would not hesitate to book this hotel again

Such a beautiful village, The Royal is such a lovely hotel/pub, enjoy my weekends here
We was woken up at 2.45 am with disrespectful residents drunk , banging on the front door, no doubt forgot their key or code to get in , dont need people like that coming to this lovely village , but it wasnt the hotels fault
The room was lovely and the continental breakfast was great. Staff were friendly too.
We got locked out the building at around 11pm without being told this would happen. The fob on the keys didn't work and no one answered the pub door. We eventually found a bathroom we walked through to get inside.
A charming hotel with a lovely, extensive beer garden. The Royal seems to be at the centre of social life in this small, historic village and is a popular venue in the wider area. A stone's throw from the sea and within easy reach of Morecambe and Lancaster. Very much deserving of its 4 star rating: the rooms, meals and service were all of a consistently high standard. I have relatives in the area and this is where I shall stay when I visit them in future.
Very good
Food that we ordered in pub disappointing we have eaten several times in past in the pub and been excellent but not this time staff dealt with our complaint fantastically But cancelled our booking for following night in the restaurant didn’t want too be disappointed again
Sehr grosses und sauberes Zimmer, grosser und sicherer Parkplatz. Sehr gutes und leckeres Essen.
Room was brilliant with excellent courtesy tray with biscuits, tea, coffee and fresh milk. Plenty of space and very clean. White Company toiletries. Really friendly and efficient staff - as a returning guest you get a welcome drink (beer or wine). Stay 3x a year and you'll be upgraded to the best room in the property. Breakfast was brilliant - plenty of choice and all freshly cooked.
Cost for dog staying with us seemed a bit high, but he was made very welcome. No slippers in the room which would have been an nice additional touch. But these are minor niggles for an excellent stay.
Food was excellent at breakfast and dinner. Staff were helpful. Room was very clean , large, comfortable, quality furnishings. Bed v comfy.
I had no hot water throughout my stay so had to take a cold shower and have a cold shave throughout my stay over the weekend. While staff were sympathetic, no form of compensation or reduction in room rate was offered. Shame really, I would otherwise have marked higher.
Really nice location. The rooms, facilities, outdoor and indoor of the pub/restaurant were really nice
Nothing really
The staff was incredible, very accommodating and the food was amazing! Everything was perfect and I would highly recommend a stay here!
Not much, to be honest. I believe that management has changed hands. Not for the better. We will not be returning.
Everything.
Room was lovely. Good beer garden. Nice food.
Nothing!
Very Clean, comfortable, great location and a high standard of products in the room and the restaurant.
Nothing !!
Hotel is clean and well kept. Staff very friendly and accommodating. We visited with a couple of dogs who were very welcome and tolerated. Choice of breakfast was good and well presented especially the cooked breakfast. Would not hesitate to stay again.
Everything good.
Very pleasant staff, nothing too much trouble. Food was exceptional. Very comfortable, everything provided in the bedroom. In lovely location.
Great staff, relaxed atmosphere. Very well equipped and very dog friendly.

The hotel was just lovely. We really liked the feel of the bar/dining area and loved the outside heated area. The evening meal and breakfast were as good as our family and friends had told us it would be, if not better, and we all thoroughly enjoy it and set us up for our day.
Unfortunately we did have two complaints. Even though it is frosted, my daughter did not feel comfortable taking a shower whilst we were in the room and there was nowhere private to get undressed/dried off before & after the shower. She had to use the toilet then ask us to turn our backs whilst she ran from toilet to shower. The one light that lit up the toilet/wash area & shower is not a good idea at 4am when someone needs to go to the bathroom. Unfortunately I chose to leave the light off and on my way out of the toilet I tripped off the step and nearly broke my husbands legs as I knew if I turned the light on it would wake my husband and daughter. A separate light for the toilet is a must, and possibly some kind of screen that you can pull across at the top of the step would generate privacy (we were in room 9). Please don't always assume it's just partners who stay with you, there could be any mix of family members/friends etc who could be in the same room so there does need to be some where private to dress/undress. And one last issue which isn't really an issue, more an observation. I found that no-one read the Booking.com messages I have sent. I had to ring & email and even then, I felt the lady who answered the phone sounded too busy and would rather have been somewhere else, and it took a good day or two for me to get a reply to my email. I asked for 3 single beds rather than a double and a single right at the start of the booking. I wanted confirmation as I had received nothing through Booking.com so I rang the hotel. The lady I spoke too on the phone actually asked one of the housekeeping staff if our room could be turned into 3 single beds and she confirmed it could. I was quite surprised to see a double and a single when we arrived. Overall it was a lovely stay, but privacy, a form of light in the toilet and following through on customer requests would have been nice.
The staff were really friendly and welcoming and the room was lush for the price paid 😁
