Beautifully well kept property tucked within the walls of the Old City. Relaxing and calming vibe in every aspect. A short walk into the city center. This is not a bustling beachfront property, which suited our needs nicely. Farm to table concept restaurant. There is even an extensive garden on the grounds.
We stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. What a beautiful serene place. It’s in the perfect location in Lagos - just inside the city wall and very easy 5 minute walk to the bustling middle of the old town with restaurants in abundance. (And great little boutique shops). The rooms are lovely, the pool area is gorgeous- right by the main old house of Casa Mae - the hotel has two (or more) buildings where the rooms are located. The staff are very helpful. We did a walking tour with Carla which was fabulous. Overall we loved our stay and will be back.
Can't say enough good things about Casa Mae. It looked amazing online, but even exceeded our expectations. It is so gorgeous and clean - but the service is also incredible and everything we ate there was delicious! You could easily be happy not leaving the hotel! It is in a perfect location as well, so nice to walk out the door and be on the streets of Lagos surrounded by shops and restaurants. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Amazing experience! Hotel was clean and luxurious. The complementary breakfast was fresh and delicious! Loved our stay here.
Casa Mae must be the loveliest hotel I’ve ever stayed at in my life! When I checked in, the ladies at the desk were so friendly and they had my bags taken right up to my room. Everyone at the hotel spoke both English and Portuguese so you can be comfortable communicating in whatever language you prefer. When I entered my room, there was a chilled bottle of wine, delicious little pastries under glass domes, multiple bottles of water and a small bouquet of flowers. My room was SO amazing! The bed was wonderfully comfortable and there was a huge soaking tub waiting for me to relax in. The hotel provided the most delightful bath crystals and scented soaps to enjoy with my entire stay. There was a little outdoor balcony with comfortable chairs to unwind outside. The room came with a speaker to enjoy a relaxing playlist to help you wind down at the end of the day. Each evening, the hotel left a refreshed bottle of water and little pastries as a treat. The restaurant had the most AMAZING and DELICIOUS breakfast that was complimentary. I can honestly say the restaurant had some of the best eggs benedict I’ve ever had, and I try eggs benedict everywhere I go! The breakfast also included fruit such as apples or persimmons sourced from their local farms which were absolutely delicious. Lastly, when I checked out of the hotel, I was given two little ceramic espresso cups that were painted a light blue inside and had Casa Mae etched on the bottom as a souvenir for my stay.
Charming in the old town, close to everything. Love it.
Staff was so friendly and attentive. Beautiful hotel.
Such a unique and beautiful space. Everything was thoughtfully designed and well cared for
Private garden that they used to grow the produce for the restaurant is not only beautiful and well-maintained but delicious.
Beautiful grounds and well designed space.
What a beautiful place…felt like an exclusive spa and the old wall right beside was magical. Food, decor and staff were all superb. Can’t say enough about this place…perfect getaway!
Great overall experience. The food, service and cleanliness were all top-notch!

Lovely stay - comfortable, clean accommodation; very friendly, competent service; lovely light, modern, tasty food with lots of well-prepared local vegetables and regional wines.
Nossa estadia no Casa Mae foi maravilhosa! amamos o hotel! Cama maravilhosa, chuveiro perfeito e cafe da manha espetacular! E ainda ganhamos um voucher pro circuito do spa.
Hotel was very nice, clean
Our best stay in Portugal bar none.
Our stay at Casa Mae was incredible. The environment was beautiful, comfortable, and serene in every way. The hotel is within walking distance to the main parts of town - which were of course, also stunning. Couldn't recommend this place enough!! Really made our stay feel luxurious, without it being too expensive.
Excellent service with friendly and proactive staff. My room was wonderful and so quiet (essential). The staff took great pleasure in helping, chatting, providing info and advice, including about the local area. The massage was wonderful.
we loved our stay and the location was amazing.
Great location, clean modern design in an old historical setting. Great style.
Cool hotel!!! Room was hard to get to but nice. Loved the food and great location
We spent two nights at Casa Mae for our honeymoon trip and the entire visit was lovely. The Casa Mae property is beautifully cared for. The gardens, pathways, pool (we visited in November and didn't use the pool, but it was beautiful), and of course the room were are meticulously maintained and very comfortable. The property is a gem in the tiny alleyways of old Lagos. It's not the easiest place to find, but once you have, they offer parking behind their gated property, and you're in walking distance to the center of town where you'll find shops, restaurants and the waterfront. All of the staff was lovely and helpful, the food in Orta was spa quality and delicious. Don't miss their homemade yogurt! We found our brief time in Lagos during off-season to be enchanting. We hiked, enjoyed good food, and indulged in some relaxation at Casa Mae. We highly recommend it!
Amazing property and gardens. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Very peaceful and private.
Simply one of the best boutique hotels out there. Clean, thoughtful design and materials sourced from local artisans. Amazing food from a farm-to-table restaurant with produced sourced from the small farm on property. Beautiful poolside setting next to the city wall, surrounded by trees. Fantastic service. 6 out of 5 across the board. Loved our stay (even during low season) and would HIGHLY recommend.
Incredibly beautiful property, the gardens, exterior and interior are all perfect. I wouldn’t say it’s 5 star in service or general stay. A few few hospitality could do with improving, as well as the facilités. It’s too basic in sévices and amenities to class as a 5 star. nevertheless I would stay again and would recommend.
Beautiful hotel, lovely staff and great location
Wonderfully kind staff, easy access to the main sites & fantastic recommendations on restaurants
Perfect honeymoon getaway. Loved the original house (Casa Mae)) and the architectural detailing of the main building. The rooms are very quirky and Fun but I am not a fan of having the shower stall in the bedroom (it could easily have been turned around and included with the toilet and washbasin to create a proper bathroom). When you go ask for a room overlooking the courtyard.
The farm to table breakfast........................
Beautiful oasis tucked away in old Lagos. Easy walking distance to everything. Beautiful room, great service and excellent restaurant. Would recommend for sure!
My wife and I spent 3 nights here and we had the best time! The rooms are minimal but perfectly decorated and furnished. The service was top notch as well. They even took the time to bring us a welcome drink and review a map of the city including beaches, shops and restaurants. The restaurant in the hotel was amazing as well. Most of the food is brought in from one of their gardens. All in all this was easily on of the best hotel experiences we have had and will be back for sure!
This hotel was outstanding in EVERY way😀
Casa Mae was a beautiful retreat in the city centre of Lagos. Wonderful pool and amenities, would definitely recommend!
Probably the best hotel service I have ever had. Rooms were a bit outdated but I guess that fits the motif of this amazing boutique hotel.
This is a nice hotel, but in my opinion it needs a few more things to make it a more pleasant place to stay. On the plus side, this is a quiet hotel just steps from the busy center of Lagos, with clean rooms and a beautiful setting. You can take an easy walk (10 minutes or so) to one small beach, but if you keep walking (20 minutes more) you get to some of Lagos’s most stunning beaches. Restaurants, bars, and stores are all nearby. On the negative side, the room we stayed it (a suite called Poco) was very expensive (almost $400 per night) but not very livable. There was no dresser to put stray clothing in, no closet, very dim lighting, and no decent sitting area other than the bed. There are no coffee makers in the rooms, and since breakfast is not served until 8:00 AM if you happen to wake up earlier than that and need a coffee you are really out of luck. There is no gym. Another con is the breakfast, which we paid for as part of our room rate. First of all, they don’t start serving it until 8:00, which is a long time to wait if you happen to want to get your day started. Then, when you go there at 8:00, it takes about 20 minutes to order and about another 30 minutes to get any food. Too slow. They will also provide one cup of coffee and then charge you 3.50 Euro if you want another one. And then even charged for water!
We were in one of the Cabanas and it was amazing. The room was everything we expected. The hotel itself is close to the city center. Sergio, Omar and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful during our entire stay. They made us feel like home and suggested restaurants and activities (we did surf lesson and bike tour). Cant wait to come back!
La gentillesse du personnel à l’arrivée, la décoration et le style apaisants de l’hôtel. Le restaurant sur place qui est sûrement un des meilleurs de la ville et la gentillesse et le professionnalisme du serveur Carlos.
Casa Mae was one of the loveliest experiences we’ve ever had traveling. The whole concept is brilliant and the design and atmosphere is breathtaking. The staff was so warm and helpful, and the cuisine was delicious. Our room was beyond what we could have hoped for. We can’t overstate how much we loved it and wished we could have stayed for longer! Thank you Casa Mae!
Great location, beautiful facilities, helpful staff. Only negative was the slightly dank smells coming from the shower (poor drainage?) which you can’t close off as its open in the middle of the room.
Incredible attention to detail, staff was very helpful, restaurant was amazing!!
It was beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. What a great spot!
Beautiful oasis in charming Lagos. Very peaceful and stylish. Enjoyed our stay very much.
A beautiful property and an excellent family vacation! The food and staff were also amazing. By the end of the 5 days we spent they all knew us by name. I can't wait until we can visit again.
Everything about this hotel is beautifully elevated. The rooms and amenities are stunning and the staff is so friendly and helpful in making your stay a pleasant one. Casa Mãe is certainly more than a hotel. With their commitment to sustainability, support for local artisans and collaboration in the community, their approach to hospitality is truly inspiring. We hope to return again soon!
From the second we walked in the door, the staff was very attentive. They took our car keys to take the bags to the room, offered us wine, and reviewed a map of Lagos and regional highlights with us. The food here was also top notch - much of the ingredient list grown on site or nearby. Breakfast was simple but healthy and delicious; dinner was outstanding. The massage I had at the spa was amazing and the other spa facilities were a dream. The property overall was a little paradise wedged into Lagos.
We loved the hotel and want to go back! We had 4 nights and it was a perfect place for a retreat to relax. The service was fantastic and the breakfast was phenomenal. Everything about the hotel is just perfect. We spent lots of time by the pool relaxing under umbrellas and also enjoyed the close proximity to the restaurants in Lagos. We also loved our hammock and chairs on our private balcony. The hotel also helped us reserve activities - surfing and bike riding - with great providers.
Excellent! Beautiful properties, attentive and wonderful staff. The room had everything I could dream off! The only thing is driving those narrow streets!
Beautifully designed property with helpful and friendly staff. I wish I could just move in. Thanks for an amazing time in Lagos and hope to see you again soon.
Garden and parking. Nice and clean, excellent service, great location, walkable to everything in downtown Lagos.
This hotel was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed every second of my stay.
They had their own garden for fresh fruit and vegetables. The room was beautiful with lovely amenities. Location good with very short walk to the centre of the old time. Staff very helpful and happy.
Staff really goes out of their way - we got a bit lost trying to get to the hotel (it is very close to the square, but in a car, you have to navigate some hilly roads) and the front desk clerk walked down to the square to meet us and direct us to the hotel - amazing! Great room with a lovely patio including a hammock and two chairs and table. Food was absolutely delicious and the gardens were gorgeous! Great restaurant recommendations from the fron We walked everywhere - couldn't have been better.
beautiful property in lagos, the room was stunning
The property was outstanding, our 3 night stay was absolutely perfect. Proximity to the restaurants and shops was better than we could have asked for. The staff was extremely welcoming and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone!
The property is beautiful and the staff very friendly.
The property is lovely and the food is amazing! They coordinated activities for us ranging from massages and yoga to paddle boarding and even took care of our airport transfer. (Though, keep in mind we had to pay for certain activities in cash which we were not told prior). Would absolutely return again!
Beautiful Oasis in great location. Excellent staff, resto, gardens. Very minimalist so maybe not for travelers who need shelves or privacy from roommate. But a glorious feast for the eyes at every turn!
Beautiful boutique property. Very romantic for couples. Balcony with a hammock!
Wonderful in every way!
Great place. Be aware that Google Streetview images are out of date as of 2018, if you are relying on that for navigation.
A great property.. walking distance from the town centre and the marina. Everyone who works at Casa Mae is extremely polite and friendly.
Would definitely recommend Casa Mae. Sipped a welcome drink while they explained the area and marked locations of interest on a map. All restaurant recommendation were good but the restaurant in the hotel was my favorite. Fresh vegetables straight from their own garden. Soaking tub was great after a long day of exploring and cozy bed made for a good night of rest.
Beautiful hotel Clean and well designed rooms Friendly staff
Ideal location, great vibe, fun staff, would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful, peaceful and classy oasis after a hot day in the sand, on the cobblestone streets of Lagos old town, or driving the Algarve coastline
Excellent property. Quiet neighborhood and an amazing hotel grounds. There is even a garden inside to help showcase their farm to table dining at the hotel restaurant. The sustainable nature (such as ceramic holders for shampoo / bath gel) were a nice touch. The hotel store helps promote the work of local artisans and was loved by the girlfriend. I am rarely impressed enough with hotels to provide reviews but this stay was one of the highlights on our recent Portugal trip.
Amazing place, perfect in every way. Will defo go back!
Third visit - very relaxing comfortable and inspiring space. Great location; few minutes away from main town. Breakfast options are great; anything from the garden is excellent!
Friendly and accommodating staff, cute rooms, free breakfast, nice pool, and short walk to the beach/city. Would stay again!
The hotel was great and the staff was very nice and helpful with explaining the city. Breakfast was great!
Lovely hotel environment with the gardens and pool area meant you didn’t need to go out at all - except Lagos is such a great little town with everything you need. Lots of extras in the room such as baskets and a Bluetooth speaker. They also lend you towels for the beach
We loved our stay at Casa Mae! Staff was excellent and we loved the special touches in our room. The property was beautiful! We would go back!
We spent four lovely days in this beautiful hotel, the room was spacious and we loved having our own balcony. The pool area was so peaceful and the staff couldn't have been more helpful.
Relax with massages and facials at the on-site spa, paired with a serene setting for total rejuvenation.
Enjoy an outdoor pool and pool-view suites for a refreshing retreat in Lagos.
Dine at Orta for Californian flavors and unwind at the bar/lounge after a day of exploring Lagos.
