Excel Hotel Bangkok

We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights and we were surprised to find a room so well arranged and so clean. The staff was very polite and was always here in case we needed something. Highly recommend.

This place is perfect for sightseeing, there’s a lot of restaurants nearby and rooms are specious. Definitely coming back.

I would say staff were soo helpful and everything else was perfect. I would recommend to ask for renovated room. Place has garden, coffee shop, loundry, massage room. Also very good location.

We were actually quite satisfied until checkout. At checkout, 200 Baht were deducted from our deposit. They showed us black marks on the sheet. I noticed these black marks this morning and I know 100% that they are not ours. We hadn't put anything on the bed, we never wore shoes in the bed, and we're not that dirty. Furthermore, the entire hotel is currently being renovated and the stairwell is really dirty; it's almost laughable that they deduct money from your deposit. It's not about those 200 baht. It's simply outrageous, and if they're offering the room too cheaply, then they should just make it a little more expensive and not rip off the guests. I am not a tourist and live here in Thailand, and I ask the manager to refrain from writing a stupid, meaningless, and lying answer in it.

Hotel is located in a very convenient location. We can walk from the hotel to Grand Palace, National museum and several temples in the area. There are lots of local restaurants, very yummy and inexpensive. The room is very big. We can stay comfortably in as a group of four. The Internet is very strong. The staff are friendly. We are quite happy with our stay.

10/10 perfect for what we wanted. Staff are friendly, room was clean, water and toiletries given each day.

Ideale Lage um die Altstadt fußläufig zu erkunden. Auch die "Old Siam" Mall und die Sam Yot Station der MRT sind prima erreichbar.

Good property for the money and good location

Very nice place. We stayed 2 nights in a room with balcony. Room was clean, wifi, fridge and AC working properly. Close to the metro and some must see places.

A really good choice for those who want to explore Bangkok and do day trips. It is within 30 minutes walking distance to a range of key tourist attractions and importantly Khao San Road with it's eating places and day trip options is only 15 min walking. The hotel is located in a quiet road despite all of this allowing peaceful sleeping. The rooms were very clean and WiFi was super fast. Further more we received a bottle of water per person for every day that we stayed which was an added touch. The hotel's decor may not be top notch but for the location and convenience you are getting good value.

Sauber und zuvorkommendes Personal.Jeden Tag zwei Flaschen Wasser gratis,dazu reichlich Seife und Shampoo Klimaanlage funktionierte einwandfrei und ein eigens Bad mit Dusche ist bei diiesem günstigen Preis auch nicht selbstverständlich. Jederzeit wieder.

Place is horrible. It is very hard to find and far from everything. Room smells like sewage and sweat when I checked in. WiFi does not work AT ALL. It is impossible to work or get anything done here. Ac does not work and it gets unbearably hot! Also, it is very dirty. I made a mistake by booking here.

Fine experience, you get what you expect. Bed had weird stains and the shower head holder was broken, but it worked fine.

Amazing experience here! The style of the rooms are just so welcoming and beautiful, and the cats are absolutely adorable! The smoking is a plus but honestly this hotel is perfect and its tough to say goodbye

Almost European style. Very comfortable. The lobby is a little confusing, but everything else is good. Nice pool. Walk to street vendor food. Close to DMK airport

Great value for money

Budget hotel, basic but clean. Very good air con and wifi but mattress and pillows were uncomfortable.

Internet kept getting disconnected every 3 minutes which made it very difficult to work. My shower heater was not working correctly and they couldnt fix it. Bed was really hard. Otherwise its fine, location isnt bad.

The hotel is in a good location if you want to explore the old parts of the city, not too far from the river, Grand Palace etc. it was clean, good wifi, friendly staff. Not a bad budget option.

Probably need a bit of renovations but okay to stay for a night. Location is good, close to a few tourist spots. Service is exceptional. Thank you.

Very friendly staff! There are many amenities within feet of the hotel lobby. (Massage studio, coffee shop, restaurants). They also have free luggage storage! You can get the room's TV and A/C remotes up at the front desk. Close enough to take a 30oz j minute walk to the Grand Palace or Reclining Buddha. Would recommend to the budget traveler.

Great location near many of the key tourist spots while still being on a quieter side street. For a low price, we got a large room, private balcony, smart tv, air conditioning, and easy access to everywhere we needed. Laundry machine on the main floor, and there's a small cafe and sitting area out front. Only downside was shower was not hot. We ended up extending our booking to stay in the area a few more days.

Easy walk to cultural attractions of Old Town, without the Khao San Road mobs. The decor is a bit austere, but on the other hand the rooms are very spacious, you get a large table to work with and having mini-refrigerator makes a big difference. I chose a room with a balcony - in the mornings I didn't even need aircon. I stayed 5 nights and was sad to leave.

My first stay here. Chose this hotel because it is conveniently located off Dinso, accessible by airport bus and canal boat. Hotel does not appear to have changed from 80s. The room was not cleaned after first night and reception needed reminding. The window could not secure properly. Insufficient power points, have to unplug fridge and tv to charge my devices. Very inconvenient. Will I return ? Only if my first choice is not available

The bed was a board and there was no comfortable chair to sit in. It was reasonably clean but there were a couple of dirty places and the curtains were terribly stained

We stayed here one night whilst in bangkok. The room was average but clean, good location for walking into the city but also very quite at night so no problem sleeping. Found the staff friendly and helpful. Quite cheap price but good value for money.

Booked into this place as it was late. Very rude reception staff. Following morning I was sick. My husband tried to get me breakfast but was barred from taking any food upstairs "not even for a sick person". We checked out later that day (although I booked and paid for 2 nights!) and when I confronted the rude women at the desk they laughed and said "cafe staff" was to blame.My husband confronted them and they just turned their backs. Refused to reimburse money for 1 night. Room very bad - old green blankets on beds, no toiletries/soap, shower over toilet, room reaked of bad smell .Do not stay here but go to the hotel next door.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Plain but spacious rooms with a/c, fridge, TV, hot water, all very clean. The only downside for us was the exceptionally hard bed and pillows. We drove so having a (free) parking lot at the hotel was important. Lots of small restaurants and coffee shops in the area.

Spacious rooms, clean bathroom. Location is great, close to the palace, the river, lots of temples and the boat to 'new' Bangkok. When we asked the staff at reception how to get places they not only told us the easiest and cheapest way, but also how much it should costs so we wouldn't be overcharged. At 900 Baht per night for a superior double this is definitely a great deal!

The hotel is perfect for backpackers with a great location. The hotel has basic amenities and spacious room. The hotel staff are good, they don't speak good English but were very helpful. It is very near to Democracy Monument. Do not be worried about food as there are plenty of food option.

Its a good hotel but kinda pricey considering the style of the hotel. The rooms are wide and clean, air conditioning is working but they only have few shower amenities inside the room. The beds are comfortable too :) There's a near massage and coffee shop outside the hotel. The hotel does not have elevator The hotel is located around 8-10 mins walking from Khao San Road which makes this place a good place to stay.

We spent 3 nights at the Sri Krungthep Hotel In Bangkok and enjoyed its proximity to China Town as well as Kjaosan Road in Bangkok. It puts you within walking distance to many tourist areas of Bangkok. The hotel itself was good enough for a short stay. The rooms are a good size but lack any type of closet or wardrobe to hang clothes up. There is only 4 hooks on the wall and a couple of old wire hangars. The bathroom was nicely tiled but I found the sink/taps were never cleaned by the staff ...the same water spots remained throughout our stay. The shower has almost no water pressure but there was enough warm water to " do the job ". The floors are tiled but I found them sticky..not sure if they had been washed or not. The air conditioning worked well . The staff were friendly .

If you want to visit the center of Bangkok it is your hotel. It is near grand Palace and Khaosan road, you can go by 10-15 minutes walk, and it is in a quiet zone. Big room with bathroom, TV, A/C, and fridge. Not luxuries, not lift, very simple but clean, comfortable and cheap.

We stayed here 2 years ago and loved this hotel. The management has changed. The staff are totally disinterested, the service is non existent and they are only interested in charging more for everything. In 4 years of travelling this is probably our worst experience. The staff are smiling all the time but just ignore your questions. I regret reccomending this hotel to so many people. It is expensive for what you get. If you do book, do so from outside Thailand and it will be half the price!

This hotel works for backpackers. It's affordable and a couple minutes walk from landmarks such as Khao San, Democracy Monument, Wat Suthat and the Giant Swing, Grand Palace, Wat Pho and many more. This is very ideal because places mentioned above are not accessible by train. It's also close to where locals eat and has a spa in front. The stay in itself was okay 'cause we came across mishaps. The hotel is not known to most taxi drivers, using the Hotel's Thai name was somehow helpful but they didn't know where it was exactly. The airconditioner in our room was faulty. The staff were friendly but speak basic English which is fine. I'm having second thoughts if ever we'll stay here again.

Horrible place! We stayed there for 3 nights. We found hundreds of hair everywhere, on the bed, in the shower, in the bathroom! When we entered the room there was water on the floor and the bathroom was awash!! No hot water in the shower! The fornishing and the building are very old and crumbling. Impossible to comunicate properly with the staff because they speak a terrible english and they are very rude.

Excellent location for walking around the city. 10 min to Khao San Road. Rooms are basic in this 4 storey hotel but large and they have a balcony. Seven -11 around the corner in case you need any supplies. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Wifi can be spotty - best location is on the 3rd floor near the stairs (no elevator here so if you have lots of baggage stay on lower floors). Would stay here again.

This was our 3rd visit in this hotel all due to amazing location near all attractions reachable in walking distance (for backpackers) unfortunately this time the room was a bit filthy. This could be also because we stayed only for 1 night so we been given not the best rooms. Anyway still a good deal. P.s. bear in mind that for tuc tuc or taxi it was difficult to find it. Always mention city hall or khaosan road

Stayed here in march of 2015 for 3nights. I like the connectivity of the sightseeing places from this hotel. If you can walk for 20-30mins then you can explore all the temples in Bangkok. Didn't have breakfast but the rooms were always cleaned when we went out for a stroll. Next to it there is a bar which has good music, good coffee and good crowd to make you feel you came to the right place. Just behind the alley you could taste some of the amazing central Thai dishes. Those street food shops are opened till midnight. Hotel is nearby Democracy monument so you can get plenty of cabs,tuk tuk to ride you anywhere in the city. Also McDonald's is near democracy monument which is open 24X7. The beds were soft,clean bathroom, enough room space made our stay enjoyable. Just on a walking distance you could have breakfast n coffee in the morning.

Good location within walking distance to main attractions. Basic but comfortable and clean rooms with AC. Free coffee in the morning. The staff tries to be very helpful but they did lose our reservation (thankfully we had a copy of emails we sent to them). There is a very good massage parlor downstairs.

1. False edvertising- It states on their website there are elevators (nonexistent) and that the reception is available 24/7 (only until 23:00 or 24:00 max) 2. We had problems with the water heating appliance which they tried to fix twice so it worked less than half the time we were there 3. The toilet was clogged for no apparent reason and they tried to fix it twice with not much success 4. It's close to the Kaoh San road but far from the city center and the big shopping malls so you have to take a taxi everytime you want to go there or back to the hotel which could take some time especially at rush hours 5. The staff was not that friendly 6. The surrounding neighborhoods are kinda shady so I wouldn't recommend walking round there at night if you are a girl by yourself

Hotel itself is very basic. Property is old but maintained well, rooms are nothing like hotel but clean and services are nil except wifi, that too only in the courtyard (otherwise lobby in terms of real hotel). Coffee that you have to make yourself comes free with the room but you have to come out to courtyard for this too. But...if you are looking for a nice place to sleep in the middle of everything in Bangkok.. then stay here. Hotel premises itself has coffee n bakery, restaurant n bar and message parlor. But they are not part of the hotel. Then you walk a lil and you get local food market, 2 7Eleven and 2 banks. Walk for 10 minutes an you are in Khaosan Road. Walk in the opposite direction and you all the Temples n Grand palace and River side. Take short rides and reach most of the shopping areas as well. Over all i loved the place. If you don't mind the class of hotel then stay here. Have a safe trip n great fun.

It is a budget hotel, but priced right. Inside is a bit old, but cleaned and the rooms have new furnishings. You can walk to all the important sites around the old city, or walk to the river and catch a boat. Around the block you can find Thipsamai phad Thai (most famous and very good phad Thai). Actually, walk in any direction and you will find famous local food shops (I tried and loved them all!). Or walk past the city Hall to Dinso to find Krua Apsorn, which many consider to be the best authentic Thai food in Bangkok. The metal castle, Golden Mount, Wat Suthat, Democracy monument, Rattanakosin museum, Old Siam mall, Chinatown and khaosan road are all walking distance. My favorite thing about the hotel was the staff and the owner who are very friendly and helpful. I think it is the best value in BKK.
