Kein privater Parkplatz, wie bei Booking. com beschrieben. War jedoch ok, Es in der Nähe zu parkieren. Frühstück wenig Liebe zum Detail. Die warmen Frühstücksgerichte waren gut, jedoch Arbeiter-Portionen. Im Twin-Room waren die Betten kleiner als an anderen Orten. Für grosse Menschen nicht geeignet. Veggie-Gerichte nicht zu empfehlen, viel Sauce, wenig Gemüse. Preis eher hoch für den Standard.

Great central location, good welcome from very friendly staff, very clean and well equipped room, I really appreciated the secure bike storage in the cellar, good quality good and drink v. reasonably priced. Thanks for a good stay!

The room was very spacious with a nice maintained powerful shower unit and bathroom. Plenty of coffee and tea supplied for extra drinks through the evening. Great space for locking up my bike after a long ride.

Very good value for money. Room was clean and food was good in bar. Breakfast was basic but well cooked. Serving staff were friendly.

I was not made aware before booking or at the hotel that the noise levels of the music coming from the bar below would be high in the evening and went on until midnight. There was no reception area with dedicated reception staff.

Our room on the top floor was very hot overnight despite the fact that the heating did not seem to be on. The cushions and throw on the bed are unnecessary. The coffee machine’s milk tasted weird. The decor is very grey.

The river running along side the hotel beer garden. The village was quaint.

It was very lively on Saturday night. We were directly above the bar. We agreed to stay up for a drink and were promised the music would be off by midnight. This was what happened. There were people directly outside our window after closing who were hanging around for a while. They weren’t being rude, just a bit merry and noisy.

The Birchtree Hotel was lovely inside and all the staff were very pleasant and friendly. The service was excellent, we had breakfast and evening meal twice and the food was delicious, definitely try the Steak and frites, and the steak open sandwich, my daughter said her breakfast omelette was divine. The hotel was clean and our room was very nice. We stayed in the Murray Grierson twin room, light airy room. Great WiFi connection

The shower area not partitioned from the sleeping area which we found odd.

Convenient location in the heart of the town. Ample parking nearby in free car park or on side roads. Excellent breakfast and evening meals in the restaurant or downstairs in the cosy bar.

It was a good price. Breakfast was included which was ok. It was ideal for our needs which was visiting someone in the area so we weren’t in the room very much.

The room had the shower in the bedroom so no privacy. Also the floor in the room was very uneven which was to be expected in an old building but my older friend struggled with it. Because the beds had been separated into twins we had plug sockets right next to our heads which was weird.

Thing not liked was in the sweetheart suite, a street light was right outside, so better blinds/fitted ones needed for blackout. Shower definitely acceptable but would of liked, slightly hotter and more powerful.

The staff and service were spectacular. Very friendly, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. The young waiters were chatty, proud and although it was busy, everything ran smoothly enough. The food was wonderful, both dinners and breakfasts were faultless and it’s worth noting that the chef in the morning also has to serve people so we were impressed that both of them managed to do this so well. We managed to catch the last of the civic parade and so the towns atmosphere was high.

The bar is now over run with youngsters who are drunk and rowdy. Fight in bar. Little to no security. Management need to get a grip on the drunkeness and disorder before people stop staying here.

The entire staff was courteous and helpful in every way. The room was comfortable and housekeeping was always available for anything needed

Breakfast was freshly prepared by Sean and tasty. The room and beds were clean and there was a fan in the wardrobe as well as an iron and board.

Staying on the second floor so lots of stairs. Dinner finished at 8pm so we couldn't get a meal.

Friendly staff and spacious ,clean rooms. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was very good. Breakfast was tasty and staff were accommodating with adjustment to the menu and again, staff were friendly. We would definitely stay again if visiting the area .

The twin room was very hot and the fan provided wasn't very effective (summer time). .The shower unit is in the bedroom (with opaque doors) .This wasn't a problem for us but maybe not for everyone ! The first night I was kept awake by loud music in the bar downstairs (Friday night) but this finished at midnight and the hotel was very quiet following this. Saturday night...same thing but we joined in this time and had fun with the entertainment ! 😆

The stair carpet could do with a clean or replacing, a handrail would be good as the stairs are quite steep.

The heat it was a hot room and the provided fan made more noise than actual air movement. The windows couldn't be opened as the river rapids were roaring.

It was nice and modern, very friendly and accommodating. Happy to help with bike and kit. I was travelling by bike so had a fair amount of stuff. Food was really good. Great little outside terrace by the river too

Ideally placed for us to continue further north. Food is good and the room was excellent. Nice walks nearby - Dalbeattie Town Woods is great.

The bar downstairs really is a highlight. Great staff, great food and drink, and the terrace by the river is beautiful. There was karaoke on when we stayed and we had a brilliant night.

In the twin room the shower was in the bedroom, which was a bit intimate! It was all good though, no real complaints

Our room was nice and clean, with comfy bed. Nice breakfast (unless you are super hungry, get the small one - it's still a lot to eat!) Most of the staff members were really very nice, helpful, cheerful, which is a nice change from what seems to be the new normal now.

The worst: There is a bar/pub right below the rooms. Which can get quite busy. We were provided earplugs (great) but unfortunately, these don't help against i) loud music (especially the drums/bass line) and ii) drunk people jumping up and down and/or repeatedly hitting things against tables/walls/whatever (which vibrated through the whole building, or so it seemed). If you are sensitive to these things, better go elsewhere. Minor things: The pillows are of the flat, not-that-great variety. There were little signs of wear and tear, nothing big (and still flawlessly clean) but could use a handyman.

Our hotel room was really clean, and had everything we needed, including iron board and iron, which still is not that often in hotel rooms.

The staff were fantastic and the room facilities were really good as well as the menu at the restaurant. I appreciated the breakfast was included. I think it offers exceptionally good value.

I had asked for a quiet room and unfortunately, I could hear the music from the bar below until nearly midnight. This did impact my sleep even with earplugs.
