The food is excellent. The staff are always happy, friendly. The room is comfortable, clean and warm.
Nothing
The location was great, food was good, nice choice at breakfast
1. Evening and bar staff appeared to be sullen and sulky 2. Shower trap in room absolutely reeked although the bathroom was clean
Staff were great - it was a busy night but they coped well and were very friendly. Food was excellent - I had the steak pie.
There is parking at the front, but limited and not part of the hotel. It worked for me as I was on a motorcycle and could squeeze in a slot (as I arrived quite late).
Bad drains smell in the bedroom. Loud music was play till after midnight. Evening meal took 1hr 30 minutes. Staff were inexperienced and had little knowledge about the hotel and the town.
The room was beautiful, but the drains smell was very off putting.
Lovely place, polite and friendly staff, evening meal and breakfast excellent, room clean and comfortable
The rock band playing till 11pm, suggest you check before booking at a weekend if you want an early night
Lovely staff. Great ambience New puppy !!
I felt the accommodation price is now too high. Less choice at breakfast. The dinner menu lass appealingly to previous visits.
No on site parking for disabled.
It was a perfect location for me. The room was clean and comfortable, the check-in was completed in seconds and I was shown straight to my room. I had breakfast and evening meals during my stay and the food was excellent - especially the steak pie. The staff were excellent and very efficient throughout my stay here.

Most of the staff were pleasant
Coming down to breakfast to the sight and smell of a dog defecating near the breakfast table. I understand it advertises as a "dog friendly " but dog excrement put me off. The "sirloin" steak the night before was tough and the worse I'd ever had.
Wonderful and restful stay!
Friendly and welcoming staff. Very comfortable beds and super shower which is essential after a day's cycle on the Hadrian's route. And food and service in the restaurant was enjoyable
Probably the dogs in the restaurant during breakfast as they were allowed to wander around which was annoying whilst trying to enjoy breakfast.
Brilliant location for exploring the Lake District, Scottish Borders and the Roman Wall. Our room was comfortable and clean. Staff in the hotel were friendly, efficient and attentive. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent, plenty of choice and of very good quality. We will definitely stay here again.
Per fact location in the heart of Brampton on the main street. Great rooms with a comfortable bed an lovely bathroom. Amazing food that fully catered for my gluten intolerance and very friendly staff. Very welcoming and homely place perfect for walking Hadrians wall.
The only think was a life solo player that went on till 10.30pm but wasn't really a problem as good music
Breakfast was good, especially the veggie option
Check in was poor, waiting 15 minutes and staff too busy with pub customers
Excellent hot showers, food and great location in Brampton.
Wszystko zgodnie z opisem. Stary hotel ale widać, że dbają o szczegóły. Obok przystanku autobusowego więc łatwo dostać się jak wyruszyć dalej. Jedzenie bardzo smaczne.
We arrived on motorcycles and the male assistant told us about the public car park at the rear of the hotel or disk parking out at the front. Upon inspection, the public car park at the rear seemed a little too risky an area to leave motorcycles unattended. So, we parked directly beind the hotel where there were signs for "Howard Arms Customer Parking Only" Our bikes fitted the spot ideally and we secured them in place. Leaving plenty of room for others to pass. We were later asked by the same male assistant if "Those were our bikes out the back?" (He had seen us park them there) We replied that they were and asked the reason for the enquiry. The male assistant said "Well it's bin day tomorrow and if they can't get the bins out or if the bikes get damaged, you've been warned!" he also said "The owners might not be happy if they're not able to park their cars there now." I replied that if anyone needed us to move the bikes for any reason, we'd be happy to do so. The assistant didn't seem very happy with our answer and walked away grumpily. Quite strange i thought.
A secure area for parking for bikes / motorcycles.
Great location..lovely food and great staff.
Nothing
Excellent food, both breakfast and dinner. Comfortable clean rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Maybe put a larger door on the shower, it was hard not to avoid water leaking out.
Room,staff and food exceptional
Nothing
Clean, great food and very good staff on hand to help
Just warm rooms, but that’s similar most places as no aircon in uk
Rooms, breakfast, and the little touches.
None
The staff were all GREAT! Good to have pleasant GF options
Friendly and helpful staff; good food; convenient location for Hadrian’s Wall walking.
There were a lot of gluten free options. The bathroom was bigger than many hotel bathrooms.
There were a few cobwebs, but it was fine.
Quality food in the evening and breakfast with good portion size.
Nothing really, couldn’t open window in room would be my only slight issue.
Staff were very nice, bar and food were good.
Couldn’t get a taxi to train station early morning.
Another lovely stay at the Howard arms. We have stayed 3 or 4 times and always happy to return. We will be back later in the year
The beef steak pie for dinner was exceptional.
We arrived an hour early after a long walk on Hadrian's Wall Walk, and the young girl at reception made us wait to three-o-clock on the dot before being allowed entry into our room. The ONLY hotel/B&B on the entire Walk from Wallsend to Bowness On Solway to do so. The room was VERY small for the price and was the most expensive single nights accommodation for the Hadrian's Wall Walk.
Friendly staff
Nothing
The hotel was perfect. Our room was very nice. We had dinner at the pub and it was very good. We stayed there because it was close to Hadrian's Wall.
Breakfast could have been better.....
Handy location. Good food in the bar
A rip off for single travellers. They charged me full double rate for a single bed in a small room. I was expecting single occupancy of a double room for the price. The room was not cleaned during my stay and the fresh milk was as not replaced or the biscuits. The shower wet the floor on the first night so it was a soggy bath mat on night 2. The toilet brush had poo on it. The wallpaper was lifting in the walls . Hmmm
The location was great, i walked from the Hadrians wall path which was about 3 miles away. The bed was comfy and nice fluffy towels, big tv in the room.
The room badly needed attention, whole sections of wallpaper coming away and chipped paint, broken furniture and the bathroom had a bad drain smell. The wait on food was really long.
La ubicación en pleno centro en un pub tradicional. La comida (desayuno y cena) buena. Muy recomendable si estás caminando por el sendero del Muro de Adriano
En una de las habitaciones el papel de la pared estaba despegado con humedad.
Perfect comfy stop off Food great
Pleasant and attentive staff. Secure cycle storage. Excellent roast dinners on a Sunday!
Nothing.
Bluetooth mirror in bathroom and nice looking waiter
The music quite loud when we went to bed but we fell asleep anyway
The bed was very comfortable and although the bar was busy the bedroom.was quiet. Breakfast was good but limited options.
We didnt eat in the restaurant as there had been a private function and people were already quite inebriated.Checking in was challenging with the private function and bar staff too busy to see.to us.The waitress served others at breakfast even though we had arrived earlier.
The location and the live music
The breakfast wasn’t great
Excellent staff, and food. Great central location.
A few minor upgrades needed in the room
Slaapkamer redelijk groot en verder alles standaard goed. Fietsen konden in afgesloten schuur.
Tja, kan niks bedenken
Good location
Great food but some salads would be nice
Location and comfort were great.
Breakfast was disappointing.
Good location for Hadrians Wall walk although it is 2 miles off the route. You can either catch a bus or get a local taxi. Beer at the pub was great, food, staff and cleanliness were excellent
Closer to the wall route but nothing else
Clean. Comfortable. Very courteous staff. Good food.
Centalt läge mitt i stan
Great food and staff, parking convenient to the rear too. Would happily stay here again.
Excellent staff, comfortable and a nice restaurant
Excellent staff, helpful, friendly. Comfortable rooms. Clean and tidy. Thoughtful amenities. Lovely restaurant Live music
Not much to not like
Very welcoming and easy check in process.
Another excellent stay at the Howard arms, Good food, good ambience, friendly and professional staff. We love coming to the Howard arms and we will be back.
Nothing
Bed very comfortable; breakfast great; steak night out of this world
Lighting in bedroom poor; heating controls in bedroom non-existent. Hot water took long time to come through.
The food was extremely good.
Mooie authentieke herberg
Good location for the wall . Good value.
Large food portions. Wish we hadn’t had a starter. Food was lovely
The food and service was excellent
It may be me, but the bathroom had a strange smell
Room was clean and comfortable
The breakfast was awful. Beans cold and tasted of vinegar.Asked for warm ones and still were awful. Bacon partially cooked , hash brown sogg. Only managed half a cup of coffee from coffee machine and that was 8.15 am.
Friendly
Nothing
Clean and warm
Needed gd overhaul paper hanging off and a bit scruffy looking We went to see our favourite band and the table system was rubbish so ended up without seats Also food middle of the road
Very comfortable room. Extremely helpful staff.
Originally booked twin bed room. This was stated on booking form. Then had 3 emails asking whether we could state whether we wanted twin or single king size bed. 3 times replied with twins however on arrival had single double ! Staff did offer us seperate rooms but we were ok with double. It appeared that there was an issue with the booking service.
All the staff are just so helpful and attentive. We had a fantastic stay. The hotel is so lovely and clean considering it allows dogs made it perfect for us. To be able to take our little dog and not leave her with family. The food was great, so happy to have the proper Steak pie. Would we stay again... Definitely Thank you all so much.
No steak pie on the first night but having it on the second made up for that. Nothing else to report here.
We had breakfast on the second morning of our 2 night stay. It was lovely. We have had drinks in this hotel previously but not stayed over night, The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend the Howard arms. The cosy fire in the bar was most welcome
There was nothing that we didn't like about our stay. Probably parking as there is no private car park attached to the hotel. This was not a problem for us as lots of spaces outside the Howard arms.
Breakfast was perfect, really well cooked and not rushed.
That I didn’t book for longer!
The room was gorgeous and spacious. Very clean and comfortable.
Trying to get back in after hours,
Friendly welcome
Lovely room, clean and well decorated. Easy to find and good parking. Perfect breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.
Nothing, everything was good.
Dog freindly
service at dinner rather slow
The staff are all friendly polite people. The food was good. Could do with some pasta on in my opinion with lactose free option and maybe smaller portions for smaller eaters. Overall love The Howard Arms .
Nothing just would like lactose free option as you have gluten free option on. Keep thinking forward
Location
Nothing
the Room I stayed in was reasonable. £1 up grade
Afew items NFG
Breakfast was brilliant as was the Amber beer!
It was all good
A well run hotel with warm and friendly welcome, good food and drink, attention to detail everywhere. Would stay again. Happy to recommend.
Nothing not to like.
Comfortable bed with great bedding and pillows
Room only had small window and was quite dark
The location is great, right in the centre of town. The pub is lovely, and clearly one of the focal points of town. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were lovely, and really made us welcome.
Hele fijne en vriendelijke ontvangst, prima kamer en een uitstekend ontbijt.
Very nice traditional pub. Rooms were nice, Tiny Tim was a huge room.
Menu had loads of festive related items on it, think the normal menu would have been really good. Breakfast was served from 8am which was too late for us.
Nice room, great restaurant.
Would have liked better ventilation.
The breakfast was huge. There was so much that neither of us could finish the cooked breakfast. The location is ideal for us,we traveled from Manchester to Glasgow on the Friday morning, stopping off at Brampton on the Friday night before continuing to Newcastle and then back home on the Saturday afternoon.
It’s a very busy place, and it can be noisy but you are given ear plugs if it bothers you. Certainly neither of us needed them.
The atmosphere of the place is great .The staff are well trained and professional even though they are young , that is down to the owners who are super efficient and welcoming.
There is nothing I can say that I dislike, I have stayed numerous times throughout the years and can honestly say that say that it’s get better and better.
Lovely town, nice to watch the locals pop in for a warm drink on a cold day.
It was a very chilly morning, so as customers entered a freezing wind kept the dining area cold. Can't stop the wind blowing. Much better once the fire was lit. Tourist!!! Wasn't dressed warmly enough 😉
Arriving past midnight due to a cancelled flight, the staff was so kind to stay late to welcome me. I also had dinner on one night close to the fire place. This is highly recommended when you're staying in the winter period.
Everything but didn't agree the answers to the quiz!!!
Little
Staff very pleasant and welcoming, food really nice, Christmas decorations were fabulous 👌
Very central location. Warm and welcoming when you went inside, roaring fire, and extremely dog friendly. Well stocked bar, with a large variety of lagers, Ales and spirits. Very friendly staff. Ruth, the owner took us to our room, it was very comfortable, clean and cosy
