Royale Chulan Cherating Villa

Very nice layout and very clean. At 100% occupancy it didn’t feel crowded. The family villa was very comfortable for 2 adults and 3 kids. The beach was enjoyable as it’s safe to swim in.

The breakfast menu could have more variety eg fish or salmon, more pastry, roti canai. To put a phone at the swimming pool area to make it easier to call for a buggy.

Værelserne var fine. Hjælpsomt personale der dog havde lidt svært ved at kommunikere og forstå på engelsk. De var meget behjælpelige med at arrangere ture og bil for os. Udsigten hvor vi boede var flot.

Hotellet var slidt generelt. Der manglede fliser i poolen, liggestolene var virkelig dårlige ved poolen. Da vi blev taget imod blev vi som noget af det første advaret mod en type aber de beskrev som meget aggressive og at vi skulle passe på med at gå med noget i hænderne der kunne ligne mad eller have noget på altanen som de kunne spise. Vi skulle også passe på sandfluerne ved stranden da de bed og så skulle vi passe på ude i vandet da de havde mange jellyfish. Det i sig selv gjorde man blev lidt begrænset. Man følte sig ikke tryg når man gik rundt i området efter den måde personalet havde fremlagt det på. Dog slappede vi mere af efter den første dag da vi holdt os væk fra stranden og blev ved poolen. Personalet var smaddersøde til at hjælpe med at arrangere og hente en. Restauranten var ikke særlig god eller hyggelig. Den var kold og havde en mærkelig lugt. Der var meget få gæster og hotellet føltes næsten forladt da vi var der. Der var tomt og meget meget stille. Man havde ikke lyst til at sidde der. Morgenmaden varierede meget. Den var ok men dag 2 manglede der ret meget og det var et superlille udvalg de havde samt det udvalg de havde var ikke særlig indbydende. Der manglede frugt, brød og alt muligt andet. Morgenmaden blev serveret tæt på receptionen den 3. Dag og det var både hyggeligere, udendørs med flot udsigt og et langt større udvalg. Den anden dag kom der store grupper af mennesker på hotellet som kiggede meget undersøgende på os. Det føltes også lidt mærkeligt. Det var ikke et sted jeg ville tage hen igen. De reklamerede med at man kunne drikke deres vand som var filtreret men det smagte så meget af klor at vi endte med at købe vores eget vand og have stående. Det var bestemt ikke et 5-stjernet hotel men mere 3 stjernet.

The view for sure is the best thing at Royale Chulan Cherating and the staff all of them were very polite and helpful.

Location on Cherating Beach is excellent

We would rate it just 3 star - pool is murky with many tiles missing. Breakfast poor and dinner was even worse - maybe the poorest meal we’ve experienced in 40 years of travel. We could not recommend this place or the surrounding area which is run down and many shut places.

My stay at Royale Chulan was wonderful. The staff provided warm and professional service throughout. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained.Also was particularly impressed with the breakfast buffet, which was exceptional. There was an impressive selection of both local Malaysian cuisine and international dishes. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.

The bathroom floor is very slippery when wet. Please consider providing anti-slip mats to improve guest safety

Having previously stayed at Royale Chulan Damansara, Royale Chulan The Curve, and Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur, I had certain expectations for my stay at Royale Chulan Chalet Cherating. Unfortunately, this was hands-down my most frustrating experience with the brand. ​The major downsides of my stay included: ​ 1. Zero Bellman Service: After a long, exhausting drive, there was no bellman available to assist with bags. I had to push the heavy luggage cart to my room and return it to the lobby myself. ​2. Poor Customer Service: When I requested an extra towel, I was shocked to be told that no extra towel service is provided. 3. ​Outdated Rooms: The room felt run-down and had a distinct, unpleasant "old furniture" smell.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Royale Chulan Cherating Villas, especially the beautiful beach view which created a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere throughout the trip. Waking up to the sound of the waves and the scenic ocean backdrop was definitely the highlight of my experience. I also appreciated the variety of food options available during breakfast, as it offered a good selection to suit different tastes and made each morning enjoyable. During our stay, my husband unfortunately had a fever, and we were very grateful that one of the staff members kindly assisted us by providing some medication. The thoughtful and caring gesture truly meant a lot to us and reflected the warm hospitality of the team.

One area that could be improved is the waiting time for the shuttle car service between the parking area and the chalet, as the delay was slightly inconvenient at times.

Comfortable stay in a calm and peaceful environment. front staff was welcoming and friendly. breakfast and dinner were good and worth the price.

Because our room was located far up the hill, we needed a buggy to get to the beach. However, the buggy had to be requested in advance, and we had to wait for quite some time. When we wanted to return, we eventually had to walk because the buggy never arrived. The staff were also rather slow in responding to reports. For example, I reported the absence of toiletries upon checking into the room and called the staff about it. Only after making 3 reports — 2 by phone and 1 verbally to the front staff — did housekeeping finally come to deliver the toiletries.

I left after one night because the whole premises were so disgusting and poor service from staff. I would have left at check in but for the fact it was a 3+ hr drive home

The entire premises was run down and dirty. Staff were very slow and not very helpful. Pool was run down. Beach not as pictured and had sandflies and jellyfish

All was great. Staff were exceptionally friendly. Nice touch by providing snack like curry puff at pool side.

The swimming pool. There were dead leaves and insects on the water. The tiles on the base of the pool were broken. The side corner of the pool need some scrubbing.

The staff were well-trained, courteous and accommodating. Ocean View suite was nice and spacious.

The hot water in the shower only lasted 3-4min every time we needed to shower. Suggest to have simple deck chairs for the balcony, would be nice. Also would be good to install bedside plug points for charging purposes.

Overall, the hotel was good, but there is still room for improvement. It would be better if the hotel had a swimming pool for guests to enjoy, especially since it’s not directly facing the sea and the beach nearby is in a cove. These facilities would make the stay more fun and relaxing, especially for families. The buffet breakfast also didn’t have many choices, which was a bit disappointing. More variety would make the meal more enjoyable. On the bright side, the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, which made our stay more pleasant.

The room/villa was amazing. Bed, tub, towels, pillows were great. View from the balcony was mesmerising. Pool was quite dirty, maybe because it was under maintenance. All else was amazing!

Pool was a bit dirty and some animal poop alomg the way to the pool but that's to be expected being surrounded by nature.

I recently stayed at the Royale Chulan Family Villa for two nights, and my overall experience was highly positive. The location is excellent, as it is situated directly facing the ocean. The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped, featuring modern amenities such as high-speed Wi-Fi and a comfortable work desk, which made it suitable for both leisure and business purposes. Housekeeping was consistent, and the room was maintained to a high standard throughout the stay. Breakfast was included in the booking and met my expectations. The buffet offered a wide variety of both local and international options, with fresh fruit, pastries, and hot dishes prepared daily. The dining area was clean and well-organized, and staff were attentive in replenishing items. In conclusion, the Royale Chulan Family Villa provided excellent value for money, with outstanding service, comfortable accommodations, and an ideal location. I would highly recommend this property to travelers seeking both convenience and comfort.

There was only one restaurant available, and its menu was limited. In addition, the buggy service used to move around the resort was rather slow.

The location was very convenient. The room was quite spacious, but the major issue happened during rain. The air conditioner compressor enclosure produced a very loud noise when the rain hit it. Atmosphere was very relaxing, clean and worth of the price value.

The staff were welcoming and attentive, making check-in and check-out smooth and hassle-free. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

I was a little disappointed that the bathtub was not cleaned properly when we checked into the room. It was a small setback, but once addressed, the rest of the stay was enjoyable.

We had a truly pleasant stay. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. The private beach was pristine and peaceful, while the breakfast, though modest in variety, offered authentic local flavors we truly appreciated. My mother especially enjoyed the natural beauty and serene atmosphere, nature lovers will definitely fall in love with this place. We’re definitely looking forward to returning.

A small suggestion for improvement: the transition between the beach and the villa area could be made safer, as the steps are slightly uneven. Also, a few pool tiles seemed loose and may require maintenance. These are minor issues, but fixing them would make the overall experience even better.

Es gab einige Baustellen und gewisse Sachen, wie die Bar, sahen verlassen und ungebraucht aus. Der Resort könnte besser erhalten sein für den teuren Preis den man zahlt.

Ce n'est en aucun cas un 4 étoiles, 3 tout au mieux. La salle de restaurant a vraiment besoin d'une rénovation ainsi que les éléments extérieurs transats de la piscine, très usés et inconfortables. Hors période surf, rien à faire à Cherating excepté une sortie pour les lucioles et dans la mangrove malheureusement avec des bateaux vétustes. 2 nuits max.

Bon hôtel, dommage que certains détails soient négligés - lunettes des toilettes usées et surtout: Transats cassés et inconfortables, très difficile de se reposer au bord de la piscine! Aussi, piscine sale et mal entretenue.

La personnel, toujours souriant et prêt à aider.
