Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Fantastic location for walkable distance to restaurants / waterfront / shops. Great grounds and beautiful accommodations.
The provisions throughout the day are good; staff provide a lovely breakfast then hot & cold drinks / fresh pastries, cookies and water but there is no option to purchase drinks or snacks onsite in the evening. There are local shops etc but requires advance planning
Nicely located, cool room, breakfast was okay.
Check in and everything felt impersonal
Excellent location the rooms were beautifully clean. The breakfasts were amazing and the afternoon coffees and cookies were just lovely.
Our room in particular the patio king number 12, wasn’t very private.
I thought the room and location were great. The staff was very nice and it was clean in both the rooms and shared spaces.
The only thing I didn’t like was the low water pressure in the shower and sink.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Amenities and location were perfect.

Staff exceptional.
Somewhat pricey.
Great location, breakfast was lovely. Simple yet wonderful room.
Perhaps value
AWOL Kennebunkport was perfect in every way! Brandy and her staff are wonderfully attentive and the house is a lovely mix of modern design in a historical setting that is incredibly clean and comfortable! Breakfast was delicious and getting anywhere in Kennebunkport is easy from this location whether on foot or on the cruisers that are provided (on a first come basis). We enjoyed our stay in the Cupola Suite! There is nothing not to like up there (be sure to check the other positive reviews about this suite on TripAdvisor and Google)...and the cupola is amazing and so sweetly designed! If you get a cross breeze up there you'll never want to come down! A truly special shout out goes to Brandy for her spot on recommendations, knowledge, and pleasantry, in general! I unhesitatingly recommend a stay here and hope to be back!
We stayed in the William Jefferds House. The decor was an unfortunate choice and not respectful to this historic New England mansion. Bad taste and worn cheap furniture. In addition, everything was pretty weathered especially the carpeting and rugs which seem dirty and in desperate need of shampooing. The breakfast was advertised as featuring one hot dish but we didn’t realize that would mean something warmed up and keep out on a hot plate. Very basic. The woman at the front desk was quite curt on the phone. The ladies at breakfast were nice though. Worst of all was the quality to price ratio: we paid about $800 per night for the most mediocre of stays. Online photos are overselling it.
This was the first time my wife and I stayed at Captains Collection and when we return to Kennebunkport, it will be the only place we will ever stay. Every aspect of our visit was most enjoyable; the accommodations, the quiet location, and the continental breakfast. In addition, the cheerful and professional attitude of every employee was commendable, especially Patty, the employee with whom we had the most interaction, because she could not have been more accommodating.
The first location/building was out standing. The second location was good but poor in comparison. The breakfast at the first house was exceptional. The staff was very friendly.
The second location/building was poor in comparison. The uneven accommodations should be corrected. While helpful the staff at the second location had an inferior style/attitude.
The beauty as well as the staff
Parking
There are a few different buildings with different styles. We reserved one building that had the least expensive rate but got a call that someone wanted the entire house so could they move us to the main house… Magical. The other building was modern (in my opinion, like our most recent stay in Martha’s Vineyard, cold and without charm or personality.) The Nelson Lord mansion was the opposite. Though obviously up to date in design, the well placed antiques, wall coverings and architectural accents told stories of new england. Wow. Widows Watch, Flying Staircase- its got it all. Bordered on two sides by large lovely park like areas and, on the other by a pleasant parking lot and pretty barn with bikes, its a beautiful block walk to the wharf where restaurants sit on the water of the yacht club. A few more steps and youre in the quaint town which we found sparsely occupied mid July! The shops are unique and artsy and the restaurants top notch (take a short uber to Earth at Hidden Pond for a delicious treat.) Took an historical and architectural tour and our lodging was on the tour. Lots of oos and ahs. Did I mention the food? Just finished a delightful egg pie with pastry and fresh fruit. Yesterday was fresh biscuits with cheese and egg. They must employ a chef as the breakfasts are extremely interesting and well done. What can I say. It took my breath away.
We stayed at the Captains Collection for a family get-together. The property was beautifully maintained, the location very convenient (within walking distance to downtown) and was full of character. Our group stayed in the Acton Patterson House, which was perfect since we needed four bedrooms and there are four in that house - we had the place to ourselves. The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms spacious and modern and the furnishings beautifully reflected the historic nature of the property. The house has a collection of "mini-duct" air conditioning units that cooled the house as needed during a hot spell. The fireplaces worked with a flip of a switch and provided both heat and charm. The staff was excellent, providing a very nice breakfast each morning that included some hot item in addition to a traditional fruit/pastries/juices/coffee. We had our breakfast in our house twice and in the main house twice which provided a nice variety.
Elegant & historic mansions converted into guest rooms with en-suite bathrooms. Beautifully landscaped property just a few blocks from downtown Kennebunkport (literally 3-minute walk). Beach cruiser style bikes available for guests to use. Every morning a thoughtful light breakfast spread is put out in the common area of one of the homes between 8-10 am.
The lack of elevators! These are old buildings- they just don't have them. So be forewarned, pack light if you choose a room on one of the upper floors. Also, from our room on the 2nd floor we heard a notable amount of noise from rooms above and below and the hallway area.
Loved the bicycles and quick walk to town
Beautiful modernized historic home ! Excellent service
Amazing character property immaculately maintained. Really lovely room and four poster bed. Super staff great facilities including bikes, beach chairs and yoga mats available for use..
Nothing.. top class
Yummy breakfast, great location!
Heard noises easily from room.
Great location within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. Beautiful rooms and the home we stayed in was beautifully decorated and cozy. We had rainy, cool weather when visiting so especially appreciated the fireplace. Breakfast was delicious!
4pm check. In. Although when we inquired were able to check in about an hour early.
It was beautiful. The location was perfect we could walk to everything. I would highly recommend staying here.
We loved the king sized room which was quite elegant in the main mansion. The bed for very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the staff was helpful and friendly
Our bathroom didn’t have a walk in shower. There was a huge jacuzzi which was difficult to climb into to be able to take a shower … shower/jacuzzi combo. Slippery flooring.
Quaint, well maintained and great location!
Wonderful location. Easy to walk into town. Loved that they offered bikes, fun to ride bikes around the area. Breakfast was great.
Everything was lovely.
Bremen n i stayed for 2 nights. Town was mins walk including restaurants. Ample parking snd breakfast delish.
Gran bell'hotel, una dimora storica americana con un servizio da hotel di alto livello. Posizione eccellente, zona bellissima, personale fantastico.
The buildings are lovely, and the staff was very friendly.
Such a beautiful historic hotel, and the staff were incredibly professional and courteous. I’d happily come back again.
Bed was comfy. The shower was great. The building was beautiful. Location was perfect.
The lighting in the room was awful. That, combined with all the dark wood made it very hard to see.
La beauté des lieux: les maisons ancestrales, les jardins luxuriants, le petit espace déjeuner, la proximité du centre de Kennebunk port.
Absolument rien!
Elegant but not the least bit stuffy. Welcoming and friendly. The room lived up to the pictures on line. Breakfast really lovely. Great location in heart of town.
Great location, beautiful property!
Third floor and no elevator
The location - a short walk into the center of Kennebunkport and adjacent Kennebunk - couldn't be beat. The B&B was beautiful with a large common room featuring a roaring fire, hot chocolate with all the fixings, homemade cookies every afternoon and a delicious breakfast. We especially loved our room, which had an oddly high bed (you needed to climb steps to get into bed) and a gas fireplace, as well as a Christmas tree with lights. Almost everything was top notch. We would definitely come again!
The only issue we had was with the bathroom door, which didn't fully close (it's an old house).
The room was beautiful and the fireplace was a hit. The location was so tansquil
Nothing
Great location, staff very friendly.
it was ok, we usually stay at the Capt Lord's mansion but becasue we booked through a 3rd party, they told us we got the house we were in. Breakfast was good.
The fireplace didn't work and it was 96 degrees at night. We had to open the window which was fine. It didn't have any storage like a closet or bureau. It was just ok for the money
I loved that we were able to easily control the temperature of our room, the ability to walk to everything in town, and the continental breakfast which had delicious, perfectly ripe fruit daily. I also liked that parking was right beside our building.
Actually, I can’t think of anything. We had exactly what I wanted … a perfect Christmas visit to a charming New England town complete with snow.
Beautifully decorated, the location is close to everything but on a quiet street just a few blocks away from the main touristy areas. Nice touch to have a little kitchen area in every building. We were upgraded to a king size room which was really nice
None!
well appointed room, very nice grounds, elegant and comfortable common spaces, complimentary breakfast, 24 hour coffee and snacks.
our particular room had a very small bathroom but it was clean and modern.
Historic inn that was very cozy and modern!
The property is a beautiful historic inn with full-on ‘Murder She Wrote’ vibes (in the best way) there are open fires, a beautiful gathering space and cookies in the afternoon. I loved looking around the boutique and exploring the town with is only a 10 mil in walk from the property
Nothing, I found it charming and authentic
We visited captains collection in November, staying four nights in Jeffards House. The hotel is amazing, with lovely, cozy communal areas and our room was fabulous. Very spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent, with a great variety every day. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming, with a particular thanks to Donna who was really personable and friendly, providing great advice and local knowledge. Would highly recommend this hotel and we hope to visit again.
The location
The bed was hard as a rock and sat up high so it was not easy to get in and out of, no elevator and we were on the third floor. Just not the best experience I’ve had.
There were plenty of choices and the display of food options were great. It was comfortable and easy plus the food was wonderful.
It would have been great to have a latte machine. Otherwise the food and beverage options were really outstanding.
Great spot! We are so happy we stayed here. It was great area and staff made it so special, they really thought of anything that you would need!! We loved the breakfast every morning and baked goods that were available later in the day! What a great chef!!!
Location. Historic buildings. Comfortable room.
Interior decor does not match up to the elegant historic buildings. As a hotel designer I can see - at least from our room and the common parts - this hotel was last decorated in that boutique style typical of the early noughties. Definitely ready for a sympathetic refresh that celebrates and respects the period charm without being twee.
Liked the breakfast along with coffee / tea available all day.
Soundproofing between rooms was poor
The staff was wonderful and we loved the property. Our breakfast was beautiful and delicious!
No complaints.

localização do quarto em andar terceiro , sem elevador. acomodação pequena
We spent one night in the Jefferds house and had a great stay. It is truly a B & B with creaky stairs (lots of them!) and you hear some noise but the experience was worth it. We had a top floor suite which was roomy and nicely appointed, very clean and a spacious bathroom. Robes provided, nice linens, and a surprisingly nice breakfast. It was a bit of a pain lugging our bags up three flights of stairs but it was our own fault for packing so much! The main lobby was very nice and the kitchen area was nice as well. You have to understand that you are getting a true, historic mansion B & B stay and be able to go with the quirks but all in all a nice stay for us.
We had a wonderful long weekend stay in the William Jefferd‘s house of the Captains Collection in Kennebunkport. This should be a 4 1/2 star review, I’m taking half of a star off for some odd inconsistencies between the houses. The location of the property is fantastic. It’s just a couple of minutes walk into the retail and dining district of the town. So you’re able to park your car and not have to deal with the traffic. For us what made this property stand out is the staff. Kim, Virginia, Kristin, and Donna were very kind and considerate, provided exceptional service and really made us feel welcome. We let them know ahead of time that we would appreciate having options for breakfast that were both gluten-free and dairy free, and we know just how hard that can be for a property who does not have an on-site restaurant. They went out of their way to make sure that we had a nondairy yogurt options so that we could enjoy their amazing housemade granola each day, gluten free bread, and made scrambled eggs for us so that we could have eggs without dairy. We stayed in a one bedroom suite which was the size of a small apartment. The amount of space was lovely, but my hope is since it’s the end of the season, they’ll take a little bit of time to do some cleanup maintenance as the suite is looking just a little bit worn around the edges. However, the bed and the linens were absolute perfection. I always judge a great hotel by the quality of sleep that I can get, and between the comfort of the bed and the quiet of the property this was the absolute best way to recharge for a long weekend. There are, however, some odd inconsistencies between the houses. When I checked in, I asked if the food and snacks were the same amongst all the houses since their website implied that there were more offerings at the main house than at the outlining homes. I was assured that this was not the case, however that wasn’t necessarily the experience we had. The tea and coffee service was not well stocked on two of the three days that we were there and other guests remarked upon it as well. Apparently decaf pods for the Nespresso machine are valuable and not readily available? On Sunday, I asked if I could get some English breakfast tea, which I had had the previous morning. I was told that they didn’t have any in the house and it was suggested that perhaps I could walk around and check the kitchens in the other houses if I wanted tea. Since I was in the middle of my breakfast, I declined and asked if perhaps it wasn’t more appropriate that the person managing the kitchen take a look around and see if they couldn’t help me out. Begrudgingly she did and she came back with the teabag. I found that exchange unacceptable at this price point. All in all, this is a beautiful property and I would recommend a stay here. I think that there might be some inconsistencies between the way the reception desk is run and perhaps the way the houses are managed, but none of these are problems that can’t be solved and they certainly won’t ruin a stay at a beautiful property.
I can't figure out how this collection of inns is rated so highly on Trip Advisor. We stayed for two nights at the Nathanial Lord Mansion, and it was certainly not luxurious or elegant in any way. I had booked a Deluxe King room, and we were given a room on the third floor. I knew that could happen, and to their credit, they offered to help with the luggage. (There's no elevator.) But my husband felt funny asking one of the women there to carry our bags. That wasn't a big deal. It was the room itself. It was small and tucked up under the eaves and looked exactly like the regular King room on their website. Management assured me that our room was in fact deluxe, and "well spotted" on the wrong picture being on the website. Look, I get historic, and I've stayed in lovely historic inns that truly were luxurious. This just felt tired, and basic amenities for a luxury experience seemed to be overlooked or not a priority. Pros: A very nice woman checked me in and was helpful telling me how to get around Kennebunkport. Breakfast and the afternoon homemade cookies were tasty. The location is extremely convenient, just a 5 minute walk into the town. Gas fireplace was nice. Bed was comfortable. Cons: The bath towels were rough and dingy gray. I wouldn't put these towels out for guests in my home! They'd be relegated to the garage for cleanup. (I positioned a white washcloth next to the towels in my photo so you can see what I'm talking about.) The towels were shoved into a rack on the wall like you'd find at a Hampton. The bathroom had a freestanding sink with no vanity or shelving to keep your toiletries. I had to cram everything on the back of the toilet or on the side of the sink. The closet where our luxury waffle kimono robes were hanging defies description. I didn't even know it was a closet until my husband pulled on the odd little knob toward the top of the door. There were two small windows that didn't let in adequate light, and the lamps didn't really light it up much either. Just sort of dark if the sun wasn't out. This room was in serious need of a facelift. The wallpaper was puckered and pulling away from the wall, and the PVC piping that ran along the ceiling was painted to hide it. I planned this trip for months and was excited about staying at this Inn, so I was extremely disappointed to see that it just doesn't hold up. Maybe the 4 and 5 star reviewers stayed in a different building or had rooms/suites that had been renovated. But for over $900 for two nights, I expected better. Look elsewhere!
Location fabulous, room understated luxury, with fireplace and big four poster bed. Charming antiques and great service. They also had free charging stations for our electric vehicles.. nice touch!
Breakfast offerings were fair but nothing great. Would have liked more homemade goodies, more fresh fruit options but overall it was fine and a good start to a busy day.
Beautiful and charming. Great location.
The baseboard heat in our room would never turn off. The control said the heat was off but the heaters stayed hot the entire time. We had to crank the AC full blast to counteract the heat. They sent various people to fix it but finally on our last night they gave us a different room, which was lovely. Cramped bathroom with lots of wasted space where they could have added shelves, hooks, towel bars. There was no place to put anything in the bathroom. It had a separate shower area with zero towel bars — makes no sense.
Donna made our stay great! She was very knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations for the area.
The Captains Collection was an incredible experience, and made me so glad I had chosen it for the last stay of a nine day trip through New England. My best friend, her daughter and i stayed for two nights and could not get over the beauty and history of the Inn, as well as the over the top service of the staff. Each day started with a wonderful breakfast that included a different entree and pastry, and ended with an extraordinary night's sleep in very comfortable beds whose windows faced the beauty of Kennebunkport gardens. The location was a quick walk into town and provided easy access to day trips as well. Don't miss this unique and elegant place. As a P.S. I ended up leaving a box of earrings there and they mailed it to me the next day!
Friendly staff. Unique property with historic vibe. Loved it!!
The rooms are newly renovated, spacious with great bathrooms. The staff is excellent and the daily breakfast is scrumptious. Great shopping nearby with loads of wonderful restaurants. 5 minute drive to Walkers Point and the historical museum. Kennebunkport is a must see.
What a relaxing warm B & B. Lots of Hertiage. The staff are friendly warm people. All they want is to make your visit comfortable. Very close to Downtown area. Breakfast is very good and made with love by the staff. Very clean and homey. Go stay relax and enjoy
Quaint, historical, friendly and helpful staff. Loved our stay here!
Amazing all around
What a special place! There were so many wonderful touches. Beautiful, inviting common areas. The afternoon cookies were such a treat It felt like home. The room was beautiful and comfortable. And the breakfast … could not have been nicer.
Nothing. It was lovely and very walkable. Great location
Kennebunkport Captains Collection was an amazing place to stay in the heart of Kennebunkport. It was within walking distance of Dock Square, and we walked there for several tours and meals. They also provided complimentary bikes that we used to ride down to the beach. The front desk texts you to check in on your needs and encourages you to reach out if you need anything. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the house was very well-appointed. I cannot stress how good the complimentary breakfast was each morning, and the afternoon cookies were the perfect delicious treat after each day spent out and about. The common areas were perfect for our group to sit around and visit. I felt the world melt away while I was there.
Lovely location, very helpful staff, charming, historical house.
Interior of room/hotel have not been restored or kept up well.
Superb location, friendly staff. Large room, parking on site was plentiful. Access to kitchen to make tea, coffee etc and fab breakfast and cookies !
I honestly felt overwhelmed after checking in. That would be my only "complaint". Fantastic property but I feel there is probably more to it that I'm not even taking advantage of.
The property is located in a beautiful area. I liked the cozy feel of staying at a “home” away from home. They offered beach supplies and bikes to use for free. Parking was easy, convenient and free.
As beautiful as the area, the homes are tired and need further refurbishment. The online pictures are NOT what the property truly looks like. The rooms do not have adequate A/C and the hallways and common areas were stifling warm! I only saw staff on ground when I went to their office and once at breakfast. No one cleaning glass doors (dirty) or opening doors to let fresh air in. There are no room amenities (coffee maker or small refrigerator). Bedroom furnishings are cheap (broken chair) and do not match the colonial vibe as in common areas.
We were on third floor no elevator. It was very hot in our room. It was fall and cooler outside. They told me to open our windows. Bathroom was very very small no place to put anything. Had to put all our towelettes in bedroom on dresser in front of tv. Very inconvenient. Nice shower but do room to dry off. You had to turn sideways to get between sink and tower. Served a nice breakfast.
Excellent staff. Very charming. Great location.
Paula and Erica (I hope that was her name) in the office were so accomodating and friendly! Any place that welcomes me with homemade chocolate chip cookies and tea gets a favorable vote! Stayed in a suite that was very nicely decorated and unique. Loved the vibe of the community areas including the fireplace room where we had a delicious breakfast! Love that bikes are available for guest use. Great location. Would recommend!
We loved the quietness of the property and how walkable it was to downtown
The location was fantastic -- about a 5 min walk to the center of town. Our room and all the common spaces in Jefferd's house were beautiful. Breakfast was delicious.
We spent the first night in Fairfield House, but there was construction noise right outside of our room, and it started at 7:30AM! With the level of this hotel, it's a reasonable expectation not to be awakened with hammering and drilling first thing in the morning. Luckily, the GM was understanding and moved us to a quieter house for the next night.
Very nice spot close to everything
Room was very nice and clean. We went with friends who seated there ms y times before . They told us about the delicious bredfast serviced to them . Breast wax worse then holiday inn
Fantastic renovated property with period furniture
Beautiful!
The room didn’t have enough light. Even with shades open and all the lamps on, it still felt dim.
Beautiful accommodations with excellent daily breakfast. Nice convenient location, walkable area but close to Portland to drive.
Awesome!
A bit more attention from the staff at check-in and during stay. Kitchen staff and breakfast were excellent.
Nice clean accommodations , comfortable bed, good parking good location however questionable modernish decor ( Jefferds Studio Suite room 9) . The room lacked any of usual amenities and of note … there is No safe in the room, and a free roaming main entry to anyone off the street…( was told there is no crime in Kennebunkport !) I do not recommend this establishment as it is impersonal all around and of poor value.
Stayed in Acton Patterson which is smallest of 4 houses & I thought beautifully decorated & lovely. 4 guest rooms so it felt like your own house with living room, kitchen, dining area which guests shared. Coffee/tea/drinks/snacks/cookies available all the time. Just help yourself. Our room gorgeous with 6 windows covering 3 walls. Location fantastic & breakfast very tasty. Staff super lovely & helpful. Want to thank Valerie, Hannah, Erica Housekeeping supervisor Patty Kitchen & Office, Anna Asst. General Manager/ kitchen and all things:), Ash kitchen, Hanna, Virginia, Office, Kristen General Manager!
Location is close to town And a lite breakfast is nice. Also they have beach chairs and bikes which we used.
bed was too soft and offering water bottles would be nice.
Historical charm, staff wonderfully friendly, helpful and efficient! Unusual boutique! Room very spacious!
Place was perfect! Walking distance to everything!! Breakfast was delicious!

Would love to come back for a longer stay next time. The staff was very friendly and I loved the house we stayed in. The town was so cute and there was so much to do. Will come back again.
