Super Lage, tolle Ausstattung
Loved being right on the water!
Waterfront clean and quiet
Nothing
Rien ! Tout était parfait.
We really enjoyed our stay at Orca Lodge! We stayed in the lower-level apartment, and it was spacious, cozy, and very clean. The bed was comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We had a lovely dinner on the patio while enjoying the spectacular ocean view. Sointula is a peaceful little village with a very special atmosphere—a true place of harmony. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would definitely recommend Orca Lodge!

Absolutely amazing view!
Wir kommen wieder
Beautiful oceanfront location, very comfortable bed. Had everything I needed. Loved the heated bathroom floor. Room was perfect for one person.
The most fantastic location overlooking the sea and mainland opposite and such a cosy suite with everything you need to hand. You can sit on the balcony and watch the eagles circle above you. A really special place.

Well equipped. Amazing location.
We loved the site of the accomodation, the serenity of the location, the sounds of the waves. We had lots of exploring to do on Mitchell Island.
we loved the view and all the little touches; tea, soap and practical items we didn't bring
The location is beautiful and very convenient, it's so lovely to just sit on the balcony and watch the water, birds, boats etc. The kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed, and we were able to make and share our meals together there.
It's just a little bit of an older building, but very well kept and in great shape.
The view is amazing, and the bed was extremely comfortable!! Tina the on island support/cleaner was extremely helpful and delightful! We will be staying in one of the larger accommodations very soon(already booked). The hosts were also very helpful and provided us with all the information we needed to know about this beautiful hidden gem Sointula!
We loved everything!
It was just simply beautiful. More than we expected
A bit noisy from staff outside from 2nd bedroom window that was open during morning. Also door opened from inside while we were in from housekeeping?
The views are amazing, very cozy
It was very dusty, triggered allergies & stuffy noses. Could use a good deep vacuum & dusting.
Great location
The mattress has passed its 'best before ' date
Zeer fijne host (Lynne) in de communicatie. Prachtig uitzicht over het water. Uitgebreide keukenvoorzieningen.
Het was met een baby erbij wat aan de kleine kant.
being on the water was great. nice front porch. kitchen was well equipped. beds comfortable. good couches for reading
A well appointed room in a lovely setting. Easy access, very clean and had everything that we needed. An easy walk into the town where we visited the cafe, Co-op and museum. Very friendly Island.
Beautiful spot, nicely set up in the interior, clean, charming, beautiful view, and great host
There was nothing I didn’t like
The view was fantastic! Very spacious rooms and kitchen. We could smell drain a bit but other than that we had a great time.
An excellent quiet place overlooking the water. Highly recommended
Room had everything we needed and it was very easy to find. They found out it’s my birthday and had Tina sing a song and gave me a bottle of wine. Lynne is so kind! Everyone on the island is so kind!!
Nothing
The view was amazing and it wasn’t a small view but you could enjoy it inside and out; awesome outside deck, with a glass sheltered area, great long windows inside so you can enjoy the view just playing cards or sitting inside. The suite is very spacious and had everything you could need, especially in the kitchen.
FYI It is an older place and the floors creak, so if you have an early riser and a late riser.… There are some cleanliness issues outside of main issues like beds, towels (which were spotless).
Your feet are dangling over the Pacific ocean at high tide, with a view across the strait of the Island mountains, the ferry comings and goings and possibly the odd whale, from the deck, and Port McNeill's twinkling lights from your comfy pillow. Nature at your deck. I doubt that there is a safer place on the planet. Excellent internet connection. I have stayed here 4 times and I hope that there will be a fifth. The host Lynne, could not possibly be a nicer person.
Through no fault of Orca Lodge, I noticed that the perfectly drinkable water has a sulphury scent to it for the last couple of years, which I easily circumvent by bringing a container of water for drinking. I never did master the art of making toast in the toaster oven.
The location was directly on the ocean, the bed was comfy, we had everything we needed in the kitchenette, the shower had plenty of hot water and we had our own parking spot. We loved just looking out at the ocean from our little deck.
Property was spacious, deck was a great spot, beds were comfortable, and great views. We enjoyed it.
It was my birthday and the management and stuff have made me exceptionally welcome ,I got balloons ,card and present and of course plenty of smiles 😄 The room was very nice, cell equipped with essentials and extras .View was beautiful 🤩 I am coming back for sure 👍
I would have a bit bigger bad in case I have my partner with me since he is like big boy ,
The perfect location with amazing comfort. The absolute best!!
Loved the view from the living room/dining room. Ocean as far as you can see! Beds were very comfortable and kitchen was very well equipped.
Would be an even nicer place if owners used local photography/arts/crafts as part of the decor to encourage local exploration and purchasing versus more generic decor.
it felt like living on a boat, with the ocean lapping at the pilings during high tide
a bit of industrial nose during the day and early evening
Such a gem! Fantastic communication, well stocked, great shower, lovely deck space & an unbeatable oceanfront location. We’ll be back!!!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Orca Lodge. The view is amazing and sitting on the deck while the tide is in, feels like you're on top of the water. The hosts are wonderful people that helped us out and were friendly and hospitable.
The location was excellent and Lynne very helpful, even from afar!
Location and deck over looking the water The wonderful people we met kitchen was well equipped
Amazing view, lovely accommodation. Throughly enjoyable
The views from the patio were indescribable. Place was cozy. Everything we needed to cook and relax. It was relaxing, quiet, romantic. A short walk to the coffee shop for a morning cup. Malcom island was pure magic. We signed out bikes from the rec centered. We walked and biked all around.
The location was outstanding! It was a delight to be able to sit and have coffee, right on the water! Everything we needed was in the suite. I can't wait to go back!
It was perfect!
The suite dubbed "stand-alone" was ideal for me. I was mesmerized as just how close to the water that the deck was - I could hear waves lapping on the rocks with the sliding door closed. The queen bed was clean and comfortable and the suite well-equipped. An updated hot plate negated any real need for a stove - there isn't space for one anyway. Full washroom. Good enough internet and a great TV. A useful selection of literature weeks before your stay re:suggested hikes etc. is easily accessed. Your Host is very responsive and will send you a text with tips. ie. Bikes for rent locally and how to utilize the ferry strategically and cheaply. I had 6 sailings for a grand total of $11.60. ie. Any travel between islands is technically free. And, ... the drinking water is just fine. A 700 m (10 minute walk to Burger Barn - a local favourite) With planning, flexibility, and maybe good luck, you can quickly slow down - shrug your shoulders - the fog will lift. Become an islander.
As I travelled by available transit from South Island, (no car) I had to walk the 1.2 km to the lodge from the ferry. About 16 minutes - with groceries. Best not to come to the island for a Sunday or Monday - when the Sointula Co-op grocery and some (but not all) other facilities one might need are closed. Alert Bay's situation is even more extreme. In the suite The galley-style kitchen counter may be a little narrow, and in need of a dish drying rack, but it's okay because EVERYTHING else is there. Expect to find an updated the BBQ operating manual, for safety sake.
The suite was cozy and comfortable and easily slept our entire party. There was a full kitchen, so we cooked most of our meals and saved money by not having to buy meals out. Most importantly however, the views were stunning! We would definitely stay again.
There is little to not like about Orca Lodge - your feet are right above the water at high tide. I watched crows dine on a fisherman's salmon fillet remains, and an eagle make off with the entire skeleton. It is an utterly delightful place to stay in a delightful historic little village. The owners are responsive and lovely people. This has been my third visit there, and I very much hope to have a fourth.
I did notice, for the first time, that the tap water tasted a little sulphury - it is fine to drink, but I was happy that I had my own travel container of water for consumption.
Awesome view, excellent communication, small but well designed interior with natural wood shelves and heated bathroom floor! Met lovely cleaning lady Tina. We recommend Coho Joe's for breakfast and a hike to beautiful Melvin's bog.
We stayed at the Orca Lodge during our honeymoon and as we stepped inside our room we found an incredible lovely surprise - thank you again Lynne ❤️ The room itself was very clean, well equipped, really cozy and comfortable with a breathtaking view. We also enjoyed the island very much. Beautiful landscape and hikes and such warming and friendly people there. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! 6/5 ⭐️
Everything was perfect.
We did our own meals, facilities in the room were good for that.
The place has an amazing view and very comfortable. Nice cosy home and with all you need.
Waterfront

Everything was perfect. Amazing view across the water. Easy to find and good location for everything on the island. Parking no problem.
Location, coziness, well equipped

Comfortable sleep. Gorgeous elevated waterfront views. Thoroughly enjoyed this rustic accommodation.
The studio was perfect for our short stay on Malcolm Island - was super well equipped and we loved the warmed bathroom floor. The view out over the water was amazing and we had a perfect sunset.I enjoyed the history of Sointula and the icing on the cake was a visit to Bere Point where we saw Orca come in to the rubbing beach. Amazing! Thanks Lynne for your hospitality!
The apartment is clean and the furniture is comfortable. It is easy to relax in this beautiful setting. We plan on coming back and bringing our kayaks.
The window in one of the two bedrooms was opening to a storage area.
Lovely room with everything a person could need. Everytime we opened a drawer we found More towels, sheets, candles utensils....... Had breakfast on the patio over the water. Slept to the sound of lapping waves.
We had to leave
The lodge was amazing, it came fully stocked with everything you may need during your stay. The tide came in right up under the deck giving you the feeling of being on a boat and the view was amazing with a gorgeous sunsets.
Love the unique accommodations. You feel like you are on a boat. It’s quiet, plenty of room to visit with friends. Love that we all had our own bed. Would do this again in a heartbeat
The oven takes quite awhile to cook food.
Location and view. Good communication with host. all you need for a comfortable couple of days.
perhaps a little cramped especially for a longer stay
Location great. Liked the deck out to high tide line. Bed comfortable.
Everthing was great.
This quiet retreat was right on the beach and close to all the amenities Sointula has to offer
We were so well looked after by Lynne, and later by Tina when the hydro went out and the ferries were uncertain. We found #3 to be the perfect place for a (too) short visit. It had everything we needed and in a great location.
The kitchen sink was a bit too tiny, but it worked. The shower setup led us to clear out most of the bathroom before bathing. Nothing insurmountable.
.
Excellent stay. So relaxing with an amazing view from the living room and bedroom.
The room we stayed in was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay, including toaster oven, microwave, small coffee pot, kettle, hot plate, pots pans etc.. There was a small BBQ on the deck with utensils and it was very clean as well. We loved the deck, it was right on the ocean and we could hear the waves come underneath the deck at high tide. The view was spectacular!!! We would definitely recommend staying here, and when back to Sointula this will be where we stay. The host contacted us the day before we were to arrive and let us know about how the check in worked and also sent us an email with all the information we needed to check in as well as places to see on the island
Orca Lodge was a very pleasant place to kick back and relax. Great friendly service. We’ll definitely be back :)
The most gorgeous deck on the island, and a beautifully appointed two bedroom dog-friendly suite. Our hosts, Lynne and Len were friendly and informative. We had a fabulous time and hope to return soon!
We had an excellent stay at Orca Lodge (unit 3). The apartment was very well laid out and clean on arrival. Would happily go back there is we are ever back on Sointula.
Amazing location - right on the water!
Loved that this property was clean and right on the waterfront. High tide came right up under the deck so you could hear the waves gently lapping. Close to amenities and marina.
Excellent communication with owner; safe and friendly neighbourhood.
It’s almost like “walking aboard” at the Orca Lodge! The quirky boat house is a welcoming spot right on the water. It feels like a much-loved family cottage. We were traveling with children and they loved the ladder and loft. Waking up to the ocean truly under the deck was just spectacular.
The view was great! Owners were very accommodating.
Beautiful room on the waterfront with everything needed to spend a night or a week in comfort. Amazing views and very well equipped. Highly recommended.
This was a perfect getaway for the two of us: clean, attractive, and with an awesome view. When the tide is in, the ocean is literally right under the deck. It's compact but has all the amenities. It's a short walk into town. We highly recommend the lodge.
