Forest Edge

This is not just a stay. It is a retreat. The peace and quiet is unreal! We loved walking in the ancient Forest. A particular highlight of the stay is meeting and feeding the two beautiful donkeys. They are adorable!

Nature, wildlife,

Overall experience was good. Nice quiet setting, exactly what we wanted. Staff were very friendly and helpful, was there when we needed them without blowing in our necks. We had a good rest, exactly what we needed.

Cutlery and cupboards were unfortunately not so clean. Some dust in the cupboards. Also had a lot of flies at the cabin. I must mention that this is a farm, and the staff did everything in their power to assist with repelling the flies as far as they could by providing repellent candles etc.

Great variety of dishes. Beautiful venue at Lily Pond.

No fresh coffee. Breakfast was half an hour later than arranged. We we in a hurryh as we still had to travel far.

We were a group. The owners were super friendly and accommodating and arranged for us to use the communal area whenever we wanted. All superbly equipped with cutlery crockery and etc plus a beautiful Christmas tree! The staff is efficient and always available even on the holiday days! The Forest is the right setting for a lovely peaceful Christmas or any other holiday.

Lovely cottage that is very well equipped with everything you could need, even milk in the fridge. Kids loved exploring the farm and visiting the donkeys. And the hammock! So peaceful and relaxing, right on the edge of the Knysna forest and just down the road from the forest entrance. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return again.

Wonderful, quiet setting next to the forest. Close to great forest walks. Excellent outdoor shower for the summer months. Enjoyed the great braai (barbeque) facilities.

Although generally clean more attention should be given to finer cleaning. Unfortunately, during our stay, Wifi was intermittent, apparently due to tower issues.

Quiet and peaceful surroundings. Rest for the soul. Excellent destination from where to explore the history of the area. Cottage is well equipped and very clean. Sitting on the stoep early morning with only the sound of the birds was very relaxing, away from work and everyday stress. The swimmingpool was a winner!

A beautiful get away with lovely walks and space for all the family.

Friendly owners, seclusion, well kept amenities, the closeness to the forest, easy access to walking and cycling trails. Exceptional star gazing at night!

The peasfull rest

It's literally at the edge of Knysna Forest. It's just a few minutes walk to one the most beautiful trails drupkelders. The lodge is peaceful and comftable. 25 minutes drive to Knysna.

Location is awesome. Really different to other places I have been to in southern Africa region, with the lush greenery and the forest.

Couldn't find anything not to like.

I was VERY disappointed that the house had an overwhelming smell of fungus( afr muf). It is common knowledge that many people get bad lung conditions from the fungus. And then the outomatic spray machine that tries to suppress the smell. Especially the main bedroom. And the cupbourd. I could nt hang or unpack my clothes because of the fungus, mold in the cupboards. Luckily, I had my own pillow and blanket .I have a disabled son of 29 and my 94 yr old father as well running my own physio practice. The was something that cost me more than my bugdet, but you advertised the place far above its worth. In the end I left a day early, looking forward to my clean house. There are ways to control mold. Im sure u can google. I will send you the info of an Ozonater that is 100 successful in killing spores, viruses andin that way get rid of smells Etretia

Forest Edge is very peaceful good breakaway from the City

The property is excellent, right in the middle of the forest. We had a whole cottage to ourselves with a private garden and the lilly pond closy by where one can sit and relax, enjoy a lovely glass of wine and watch the sunset or listen to the sounds of nature. The cottage was cozy, well equipped for self catering with utencils, pots and pans, etc. Great place to enjoy peave and tranquility amidst nature.

The Wi-Fi was non-existent and even mobile signal was so bad that data was not working either so prepare to be TOTALLY disconnected from the world, whether you like it or not! Also, a few things to note- 1. It is a self catering facility and the there is no restaurant on site 2. The nearest restaurant is easily 5-6 kms away 3. There's a bit of driving on dirt roads required to reach this location 4. It is only accessible by car

I would like to thank the staff at forest edge, they were friendly, place was neat and clean. Breakfast was exceptional and they went out of our way to make pap for us really enjoyed that touch

Peace and tranquility.

All was well as usual.

The hosts were incredibly kind and willing to accommodate us. The area was quiet and surrounded by nature. You fall asleep to the sound of frogs croaking in the distance and wake up to bird-song. The cabin is very clean and well taken care of and had everything we needed. We ordered the extra breakfast, and it was enough food to last us our whole stay! I couldn't be happier. If we ever visit Knysna again, there is no other place we would rather stay. It was truly a magical, rejuvenating experience.

Chalets are spacious, comfortable and well appointed. Veranda and garden backs up to the forest as the name suggests. If you're up early you will probably see the Louries. Breakfast on the Lily pond deck is exceptional.

The grounds are well kept and beautiful. Location was fantastic with its proximity to the SANPARKS entrance. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed and private and comfortable.

Not the fault of the owners, but the pool is empty due to the drought. We were however happy without it. If the owners are looking for something to improve on - the toys at the play area were a little old and worn out, but the garden area makes up for it so we really didn’t need them anyway.

Perfect little jewel right at the Edge of Knysna Forest. Dries and his Team is amazing people with open hearts and you feel welcome the moment you arrive.

The location. In the forest, close to nature. The birds chirping and star filled skies.

Can’t fault it.

This is an absolute gem, on the edge of the forest literally. A short challenging walk to the nearest natural pool, waterfall surrounded by a tranquil forest is the cherry on top. The venue let us believe in fairies 🧚‍♂️ again, due to the fireflies at nite. Such beauty awaits you when checking into this venue.

Amazing breakfast in the form of a picnic, so unique. Close to Knysna, all my needs were met and exceeded Thanks to Mr du Preez whom chased us down to bring us stuff we forgot, I am eternally grateful
