Parking can be tricky

The staff were very friendly & helpful. The food was very good & plenty of it. Our room was large and clean with lovely comfortable beds. The price was very reasonable & good value.

The shower didn't work very well & was difficult to regulate but there was plenty of hot water.

Direkt an der Hauptstraße im Zentrum von Coldstream gelegenes gemütliches Pub mit Zimmern inkl. Parkplatz gleich daneben und einem schönen Biergarten mit regengeschützten Raucherplätzen. Exzellentes full Scottish breakfast und sehr freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal. Idealer Ausgangspunkt zum bereisen der Borders Region.

Ein paar Wandhaken neben der Türe für Regenjacken etc. wäre hilfreich

Sehr freundliches Personal, schönes Zimmer, gutes Frühstück. Abends könnte man im Restaurant oder Pub gut essen. Das Zimmer war sauber, Bett war bequem!

W-lan hat im Zimmer leider nicht funktioniert, aber im Restaurant und in der Bar.

Everything about my stay here exceeded my expectation. The host and hostess were very friendly and happy to assist in providing space where I could accommodate my bike overnight. The breakfast were outstanding as was the food generally in the hotel. I found the general atmosphere to be really welcoming and would not hesitate in staying here in the future. Being on the High Street, our room is facing the main road. With the window open can hear the heavy traffic throughout the night

Lovely place to stop and unwind after a long day of driving Robert was so lovely and friendly. Breakfast was amazing and plentiful Our Pub meal was delicious I definitely recommend Newcastle arm's for a stop over.

the breakfast was one of the best we had anywhere during our 8 days in the UK. The owner was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. We were impressed and would absolutely stay here again.

As a location for an ex Coldstream guards reunion it was perfect. Breakfast was brilliant after an all and night reunion with the lads.

No bedside tables. Staff in restaurant were rude after I had rightly complained about an issue. I was basically told to take it or leave it so I left it.

Clean comfortable room with spacious walk in wardrobe. Good breakfast choice. Amazing black pudding; fresh, crumbly and tasty. Vegetarian version also very good. Staff / owners - warm, friendly and down to earth. Good bar.

Both very good

Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was 10/10 with excellent portion sizes and very fresh! Location was ideal for both Scotland and North England! Would not hesitate to recommend and would definitely stay again if in the area!

Excellent & warm welcome, everything was explained in regards to breakfast times, car parking. Bar area etc. The staff were all very welcoming and happy. The breakfast was amazing, free car parking was a bonus 👌

We were in a top floor double bedded room which was ok for us but our old dog struggled on the steep stairs up to the top.

Breakfast was superb - plenty of choice, and cooked breakfast was plentiful and with a great variety of items (including wonderful black pudding and haggis). I had a veggie breakfast on day 2, and this even had vegetarian haggis included, and again a huge portion. Room was spacious and comfortable. Bar was friendly with good beer.

The only downside was the lack of immediate grassy area for dog but there are two parks very nearby.

The breakfast was really good and filling. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The evening meal was really good as well, staff very helpful.

No hairdryer in the room dozens of flies in the bathroom which I had to get rid of as the window was open. It was very hot weather & I had to sleep with the window closed after getting rid of the fruit flies

Room 4 small room with no window.

The evening meal we had whilst on a one night stopover was excellent as was the full English breakfast the following morning. Large shower in our room was great.

The only downside to our stay was that the bar was open till 04.30am as Scotland were playing their first World Cup match and we heard the cheers when they scored! So no complaints for that.

Basic, but clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast. Attic room was small but fine for a one night stop over. Very friendly staff. Dog friendly, no extra charge. Adequate car parking for the number of bedrooms at the hotel. Bar meals were served in the evening, although we didn't try any.

We were right up in the attic, which wasn't a problem for us, but several flights of stairs may be an issue for less able guests. A little noise from the public bar overnight, but on check in staff had apologised that the bar would be open until 4am due to the Scotland football match, we had already assumed this and it wasn't an issue for us

We were exhibiting at Border Union Championship Dog Show and needed an overnight stay for two of us and two Rough Collie dogs. The Newcastle Arms did the job. Robert was very friendly and helpful. They did us a take out breakfast of bacon rolls because we had an early start. We used the Electric Car charging. The room was very clean. The restaurant was really good, we ate with friends who were also at the show. All round, thank you.

The bedroom was a bit small, but the dogs adjusted, we adjusted and everybody got a night's sleep (which was the whole reason for the stay).

Very welcoming staff - made our stay enjoyable.

A few irritations need to be ironed out. 1) Wifi reception is very poor - needs a wifi extender or a mesh network. 2) Electrical device location needs to be rethought e.g. Kettle is on a chest of drawers and flex is too short to reach plug. TV is on right hand side of bed and can only be seen by standing at other side of room to bed.

Very old badly decorated. The toilet soil breather was in the toilet. Floor was rotten. Door was badly fitted.

First impressions were bad, booking in to room that looked like a bomb had gone off. Paper table cloths for evening meal..... Training required, my husband asked which beer they had to be told by the waitress, she didn't know, and when we asked her to find out, she looked a tad unhappy. Breakfast was good and owner and chef very pleasant.

You could not fill the kettle for tea/coffee due to the size of the kettle not being able to get under the tap. The decoration could have been better.

The staff at the hotel were very welcoming and accommodating - special mention to Robin and the kitchen staff; our room was neat, and beds comfortable. The hotel decor could do with some updating but the warmth of the folk more than made up for that. Parking for the car was just at the back of the hotel and was very handy. Evening meal was tasty and we were helped further again the next morning by getting a takeaway breakfast toastie ( instead of sitting in the dining room) so we could promptly head off on our long journey home 👍

The stairs up to the room were troublesome for my husband who has back issues (we were helped up and down with our luggage though by the very accommodating staff)

Looks a bit questionable from the outside in the dark ( we were pleasantly surprised when we got inside ) looks like just a pub from the outside.
