The Wheatsheaf Inn

Another lovely stay at the Wheatsheaf! Its located in a beautiful Dales village and is great for trips further afield - Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are within walking distance, and Hawes, Leyburn and Askrigg are a short drive away. The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the cooked breakfasts are great and really set you up for the day. We always have our evening meal at the Wheatsheaf too, they have a varied menu and the food is always tasty and perfectly cooked - and their Sunday roasts are fantastic! The staff are so friendly too and go out of their way to help.

All was good. Lovely friendly welcome, excellent breakfast, good and dog friendly. Nice room with good view and comfy beds. Very nice and useful for us to be able to leave our car in the car park till we returned at the end of walking the Herriot way.

My overnight stay at the The Wheatsheaf Inn was lovely. Emily and Claire are truly excellent and thoughtful hosts and their staff friendly and efficient. I was kindly provided an early evening meal outside of normal advertised hours. The vibe of the place is welcoming. My single room's bed was insanely comfy! Great breakfast in the morning. Thank you!

Nice pub atmosphere. Liver, bacon, onions and mash was the best ever although my wife’s Mediterranean vegetables was a little too sweet for her liking. Good selection of real ale beers on tap. Good breakfast too.

The room was a little cramped and a little bit “shabby” in places. Good shower though. Just about alright for a one night stay

All staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. Offering help and assistance. All rooms were clean, bedroom was well equipped and comfortable. Breakfast and evening meal was excellent, with a wide variety of choices and presented well. Will hopefully return in the near future .

Non mi piace lasciare recensioni negative, però non capisco le altre super positive date da italiani riguardo la pulizia. La camera doppia con letti singoli ha poco spazio per valigie, abbiamo dovuto spostare i letti per farcele stare. Poca pulizia, polvere sulle testiere dei letti e diverse ragnatele con ragni. Abbiamo fatto 3 notti e non ci hanno rimesso altri campioncini di docciaschiuma e shampoo!

Really lovely building in an excellent location. Within walking distance to the waterfalls and close to Bolton Castle. Staff are fabulous.

Everything here is lovely. Our bed was a little small on this occasion but we know bigger rooms with bigger beds are available so I will take more care with my booking next time!

There was only one tiny obstacle for me but that that is due to my disability. There wasn't a handrail I could hold in to for the last two steps on the stairs up to our room (10). So I needed help from my sister for that part. Otherwise, I could go up and down okay.

Staff really friendly and accommodating. Food and drink was fantastic. Large carpark to the rear of the pub. Rooms had everything you needed. Would definitely stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Bed was clean and super comfy. The food was excellent and arrived amazingly quickly. Everywhere was clean and tidy and all of the staff were super friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. A beautiful typical Dales pub.

Lovely staff, very clean, the bed was very comfortable. Pub downstairs is lovely.

On suite, very small and shower not very powerful. To be fair, we did book the small double, and this is being a bit picky as everything else was so lovely. I have only written this so if someone is a larger person they know not to book this room and to go for a larger room. I would recommend this place and I would return.

We traveled as a small group of 4 Motorcyclists for a stay of 6 nights in early July 2026. Emily and Claire and their whole team looked after us really well, all are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great and the choice/quality of evening meal also very good. Location of the Wheatsheaf is excellent for local walks and of course for us there was some outstanding motorcycling routes - all easily accessibly from Caperby. The bar serves a wide range of beers and wines and again all bar staff very warm and friendly. Highly recommended place to stay.

Nettes kleines Inn, sehr familiär, gutes Essen, in einem sehr kleinen Ort -Dorfidyll. Man kann vor dem Pub draußen in der Sonne sitzen und direkt gegenüber auf der anderen straßenseite kann man über Weiden, Wiesen, durch Wälder zu den Aysgarth Wasserfällen wandern. Sehr schönes Erlebnis. Wir haben sehr gut geschlafen, es war angenehm ruhig. Tolles, frisch zubereitetes Frühstück.

Exceptional staff made the whole experience very pleasant. A very professional team made everything run smooth. We really enjoyed the food and the cooked breakfast was amazing.

Welcome, bedroom and shower, location and choice of meals. Nothing too much trouble to friendly staff.

Second breakfast course was delivered before we finished cereals on the first morning. On a small table we hardly had room. Fortunately this was a one off. Enthusiastic staff to be commended but second cooked course can quickly go cold if it isn't eaten in time. A very small moan against a very good weekend.

Everything. Staff so friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Dinner very tasty. Breakfast, we had the Yorkshire breakfast was full of flavour. Room was very nice and the bed so comfy. Want to go back so we can sit in front of their beautiful fireplace when it's burning away. Recomend this hotel without hesitation. Thanks for a great stay.

Traditional country inn. My room was a single but adequate size. Good food in the evening and breakfast. Short but pleasant stay.

Excellent location near to Bolton Castle. The staff were very friendly & helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Food in the bar/restaurant was superb. Good choice of real ales and a varied wine list. Will definitely return when next in the area.

The only thing we can say was the mattress was to hard for us but wouldn’t stop us from staying again we would just bring a mattress topper

My adult daughter and myself stayed in the 'family room' with kitchen we appreciated. Breakfast flexibility of being able to take a bacon sandwich 'to go' instead of eating it there. Dinner of creamed mushrooms and fish cakes very good and deserts lovely. Bedlinen and towels lovely and the family room we had worked very well & decor tasteful. We appreciated very much that fresh milk was available for tea/coffee in our room.

Coffee at breakfast was not of a superior quality - out of a jar! Breakfast could have included some fresh fruit as none available.

I found everything about The Wheatsheaf delightful. The staff were so pleasant and helpful, in all aspects. As a solo traveller, I was welcomed and made to feel valued. My room was clean and perfectly adequate for my needs.

I enjoyed the meals but perhaps the main course portions were oversize. Less main course might have left more room for dessert.

From beginning to end, the staff were friendly and helpful. The venue is in a lovely location and the rooms well-appointed and comfortable. The food was excellent.

How the place is! It is a pub and long may it remain so! They offer really good food, accommodation, staff. Location is excellent too. Big thanks to the lovely staff for looking after us.

Our bed was firmer than we would choose, but that's a subjective view. Anything else would be churlish.

This is a lovely country pub with excellent hospitality, from the welcome you receive, quality of the bedrooms and wonderful food, at a sensible price. I stayed with a walking group and everyone spoke positively about their stay. Will go back.

This is a real Gem of a traditional local inn. An excellent place to stay, welcoming and helpful staff a lovely warm atmosphere a mix of local residents and visitors, obviously a popular place. Comfortable and clean rooms and a great menu (including a good range of vegetarian options) All in good value and a good location to explore the surrounding area and attractions.

Historical pub/hotel restaurant in a small Dales village near Leyburn. Efficient and welcoming staff & owners. Excellent menu choice, leaving our party of four all happy and satisfied. Lots of parking.

Stairs to our rooms were slightly uneven. One of our party with mobility issues was ok, but we were on duty if needed.
