Very quaint, but still all the mod cons.
Was a wee bit of a maze to get to my room, having been on my feet for the past 3 days but not the end of the world.

It was inexpensive for a last minute business trip. The staff were friendly and helpful - made me a free coffee on departure!
Decor very outdated. Room was up a steep staircase - as a family room this would have been hard to manage with children and bags, etc.
The hotel was in a great location, easy to get too. The food was fantastic.
The lights didn't work, had to use a table lamp. The overall impression was it was outdated and perhaps replace the torn lampshade. The hot water took a very long time to come to the room, as stated on the sign on the wall.
Perfect for work

Staff extremely helpful. Interesting building
Room rather cramped; uncomfortable small bed. Basic ‘supplies’ in room. Mediocre breakfast.
Excellent staff, so friendly and helpful and so welcoming of young (in our case very!) kid...comfortable room and great bar and food service and quality.
Only one thing: the room had no chairs which was a bit odd - we managed fine with this and didn't feel the need to ask, but it was the one thing that struck us as a little weird!
Friendly helpful staff, good location, comfortable bed,
Could hear next rooms movement through wall.shower area was very small, probably difficult for larger person! and look a bit tired.
Very central with ample parking and late access Pie shop exceptional
A little tired and surfaces in breakfast room needed attention
The setting its a old coach house from.back in the tudor times very interesting feel. Staff were super nice and super helpful thanks 😊 rooms kept clean and tidy
Bed could have been a little more comfortable maybe a slat broke... felt a little slap sided 😊.. im not the best sleeper so didnt really effect me
Shower broken not checked. Room cold
Lovely place to stay,
Great place, staff were very helpful and went the extra mile
It was picturesque in a good location. Nice menu selection, the pies are obviously very popular as our choice wasn’t available.
Our room was quite small and the bed was placed so I couldn’t get down my side of it, which was awkward. The window was really hard to open and we had to wedge it in the end as it was really hot. There was a deep humming going on from somewhere almost all the time we were in our room.
I booked a single and got a good sixed room with double bed. It was clean. The was an iron and board provided in the room and tea and coffee facilities. Wi-fi available. The staff I saw were very friendly. There was a good selection at breakfast. The hotel is very old and quirky. I loved the character of it. Great location. Parking available and very nice outside courtyard. I would definitely recommend for a basic good value stay.
The room was a bit dated and needed painting. There were signs of mould in the shower and no shower gel provided (although there was a bar of soup). There was no information in the room about the hotel facilities, wifi code, local amenities etc which I usually see provided but this was not a big problem as details could be gotten from reception.
Pub food was good, staff kind and friendly
Rooms good size, bathroom not clean, room extremely hot and shower not working
Breakfast was good
It was rather noisey. The bathroom fan was particularly loud waking up anyone trying to sleep nearby.

Room was okay. Food superb, bar excellent.
The noise in my room from the beer garden after midnight.
We had a great breakfast and was close enough to Silverstone for Carfest
Over all the hotel was fine it was just ver tired in places. Our matress was like sleeping on cotton wool but that is down to personal preference.
Food was ok
WARNING-- We had one of the most shocking and unacceptable hotel experiences we’ve ever encountered. We arrived late in the evening after attending a funeral, already exhausted, only to discover that the hotel was in the middle of being burgled as we pulled up. We immediately contacted the police and were instructed not to enter the building. Officers arrived, took statements, and confirmed that we had likely disturbed the burglars while they were attempting to steal the till. They fled empty-handed, but the situation itself was incredibly distressing and unsettling. What makes this even worse is that the hotel supposedly had a night porter on duty, who, we were informed, had been asleep throughout the entire incident. This is a serious failure in basic safety and security. As a result, we were not allowed into our room until around 5:00am. After such an ordeal, combined with grief and exhaustion, this was completely unacceptable. The following morning, we contacted reception to explain the situation and requested a later check-out, given that we had only just been able to access our room hours earlier and still faced a 2.5-hour drive home. We were offered just one extra hour. A token gesture that did not come close to addressing what had happened. When we went downstairs to speak with a staff member in person, the response was frankly appalling. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the severity of the situation, and certainly no gratitude for the fact that we had effectively prevented a serious burglary. Instead, we were met with a dismissive, rude, and unprofessional attitude. We requested a full refund, which we believe should have been offered immediately given the circumstances and the clear failure to provide a safe environment. This was refused, with the hotel only offering to refund breakfast and “a little extra” - completely inadequate. To make matters worse, when we asked to escalate the issue, we were told the owner was “too busy to come...
Great food friendly staff.
Some of the features of the rooms are a bit dated but overall absolutely fine
Good location, lots of parking and staff were pleasant.
Very tired decor, dated and very basic, lacked care and attention
Quirky and quiet, staff friendly. A good breakfast.
Room was hot, but there was a fan in the room.
Very nice
The staff are friendly & helpful. The food is great. The bed was comfy, so I had a good nights sleep.
Unfortunately the window kept sliding shut. Also there wasn't much room to get in or out of the shower.
Very friendly staff
My room could have been up dated a little bit
First day room was hot! Weather changed and cooled down! Little noisy from The George Pub. Ear plugs worked just fine. Enjoyed the management,
Old fat boy didm't enjoy the stairs, But that was my fault for being old and out of shape.
Friendly staff, breakfast good, room ready on arrival, lovely interesting older building. Pies from the pie shop are delicious! Great location to attend a concert at Milton Keynes Bowl without paying silly prices.
Very few staff, one person seems to be attending to all areas of the hotel- pie shop, restaurant, check in. Which made service seem slow and a little unorganised.
Comfy mattress. Friendly Staff Tasty Food
Wonderful traditional hotel. Our room was a beautiful corner room with huge windows. We loved the vintage decor and furniture, but with such a comfy modern bed. The bathroom was incredible too. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the food was great. We wished we could have stayed longer. We'll definitely try and make it back one day 😃
There wasn't a great deal of water pressure for the shower but being such a beautiful old building we really didn't mind
Good location
The property clearly has received no investment for years. It looks and feels tired. Whilst clean on the surface it feels like it needs a deep clean. Rooms were ok but so dated. I think the bell relies on no local competition and has taken it for granted
Ancient building full of character. Amazingly friendly and professional staff. Lashings of tasty unpretentious food and the pies are supreme.
Nothing!
Lovely weekend, the team an owner was very friendly an helpful, food was good esecially the pies, so delicious we brought some home. Quaint Inn that has so much character, really lovely area an village.
Nothing
A very warm welcome. All staff were attentive and friendly. Room was very clean as were tge dining areas and bar. The food, especially the pies were well cooked and value for money.
Food was great , staff excellent, upgraded room perfect.
The staff are helpful and friendly. The food is hearty, well prepared, and delicious. The ambience is lovely.
On this occasion the heatwaves had conspired with the fabric of the building to give us a room, Room 4, which was a terrible temperature. Without a thermometer, we guess it was in the 30s. There was a fan in the room when we first arrived, but it wasn't switched on and the door and window were shut, so the room was hot and extremely stuffy. I asked later on if there was another room we could move to. While I was offered a basement room which isn't usually available, I turned it down as it wasn't suitable for other reasons. We'd brought a fan with us for work, so ended up having two fans running all night, the window wide open, and the door propped open until my husband needed to sleep. I ended up attempting to sleep on the floor as it was the coolest part of the room, but still too hot. We told staff about the experience when checking out, and requested never to be put in that room again! They confirmed we're in a different room for our next visit. I must repeat, the staff were always really helpful and sympathetic, and did their best under the circumstances. I do feel that that room should not have been used at that temperature though.
Good food, excellent pies, full English breakfast, good selection of beer
Location, near to Silverstone and local area was very nice with restaurant choices and alternative pub choices. Clean and friendly staff
No air conditioning, very small bathroom. Bed was very uncomfortable, could do with a mattress change. Breakfast not served before 8am which meant we paid for breakfast but didn’t eat it as needed to leave earlier.
Our evening meal was really nice, proper, well cooked homemade pub grub. The pies they make on site are fantastic. Breakfast was nice, the only disappointment was the scrambled egg which had an odd consistency and little flavour.
Although we enjoyed our stay, the one problem for myself was that the bed was too hard for my taste and I didn't manage to get much sleep.
Fantastic old pub with real character. The room I had was a little dated in decor but was clean with a comfortable bed and functional bathroom. It’s what I needed travelling on my own for 2 days. The pies were outstanding and the breakfast was ok, the staff were amazingly professional and friendly. The weather was very hot and the evening was helped by a fan in the room. I would stay again next time I visit.
I’m not sure if this is usual, I didn’t have any shampoo or shower gel so had to use the hand soap bar from the sink. The decor was a little dated and carpets worn in room. Minor things as the hotel, staff & pub were great.
Room was lovely and cool during heatwave. Good size ensuite room
Ned very uncomfortable)big dip in centre of mattress) and room looking a bit tired. Also TV didn’t work & not fixed during stay
Surprisingly spacious and comfy accommodation for a period pub stay. Rooms were away from the main bars around the beer garden and so afforded a bit more privacy and less noise tram a traditional pub stay. My room was ground floor and disability friendly with plenty of floor space, a large exceptionally clean bathroom with a shower chair access and a massive four poster bed plus full size fridge. Despite the umpteenth heat wave this year, the room was a pleasant temperature and remained quite shaded during the day. The bar food was indeed superb and I think having a pie from their homemade selection should be mandatory.
Room lighting was a bit harsh with one main light and a single dim bedside light. Would appreciate a desk lamp or similar.
Good location. Good food Nice outside area for drinks & food.
Room had no windows. Our arrival was not very welcoming. Some bar staff were not very willing to serve and kept sending me to the other bar.
The location was good for our needs
The room was large but needed a good clean as it was very dusty. Hotel is in need of an upgrade to bring it up to a better standard. Breakfast had no option but a full English including basic cereals and only Tesco bread for toast.
Good location for us as we were attending Silverstone for MotoGP and this hotel was far cheaper than anything close by. Hotel seemed very clean.
We booked a double room but it wasn’t a standard double bed, it was a small double. I think this should have been made clear in the listing, the pictures shown for a double room all showed much larger rooms and beds.
Very dated and small room
As above
Great food and location
Room very smalll
Very clean
Nothing
Stayed before and find it comfortable and a perfect location. Great value for money, comfy beds, clean linen, lovely staff. Also I will 100% stay again.
The decor is looking tired in some rooms and minor things looking damaged and tatty. I can deal with that, after all its a budget stay and you get what you pay for. However this time I had a lot of black mould on the shower hose and the shower simply hadn't been cleaned properly. I cleaned it myself and should have complained - and would have done if I'd had time. I'm certain they would have sorted it immediately but I was disappointed as it was unexpected. Next time I will check properly at the start of my stay and bring it to the attention of the staff if needed.
Food was amazing
Parking was challenging
The food, the location, the facilities
Bed was small for a double, not that you could have got a bigger bed in the room, very hot night and only a small fan.
Fantastic, friendly, clean, great location
Nothing i didnt like
Lovely friendly 2/3* pub hotel. Rooms had everything i needed for a short stay.
My room was by the road and I had the window open because it was warm so it did tend to be noisy with the traffic so if you are a light sleeper ask for a quiet room away from the road.
Location was perfect for my purpose of being close to Addington
Nothing
The pies served for the evening meal were first class
People booking here should be aware that it is an old inn and the fixtures and fittings are of the "distressed antique" style. We stayed on a Friday night on summer and the place was heaving outside and in. Difficulty finding a table and 45 minute wait for food. BUT a very friendly atmosphere and excellent staff.
Staff were very helpfull and resolved issues quickly
I was checked into a used room, not very nice as the room had been used but the issue was resolved and the new room was lovely
Homely feel and pub/food a walk away.
Had to have the windows open due to the warm weather, early morning noise from tractors/lorrys
The location was great,my wife and me stayed at the Bell hotel because we were attending Reggaeland on the weekend. Breakfast was lovely, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
Our room was on the top floor so was a hike after a long day of partying, saying that the room was great.
Breakfast was great and very good value for money. Staff were very friendly and helpful
On arrival reception male and female were not as warm and welcoming
Nothing. The room is dated and tired needing an upgrade. Fading flower prints.on the walls need chucking and tiny old TV needs replacing.
The room had not been aired and with the window closed was unbearably hot when I arrived. It took an hour to cool the room to with door and window wide open and fan fully on. Duvet was too heavy and pillows too soft.
Comfy beds
No privacy with the bathroom door
I was impressed with the professional and excellent service from the staff .
And I will book there again in the future.
Lovely breakfast, we had lunch in the bar which was great and good value for money. I wish we could have stayed longer.
The people next door to us came back at 3.00am and were pretty noisy, which was a shame.
The on-site shower room was extremely dated with stained shower and peeling old sealant, the feel was of a gritty bedside and not a £100 a night room. The cups had ring marks inside and the kettle lead didn't even reach a plug so it had to sit on the floor. I would not recommend this hotel.
Breakfast was good
Great location, helpful staff
Location
The room was very dirty. Dirty carpet and thick dust and grime in corners and under furniture and behind bed.Very small bed - my husband fell out in the night! Hairs and dust in bathroom and ledges. Toilet brush - ! Bathroom floor Lino unwashed. Furniture old, scratched. Outside unswept with accumulated debris and grubby tables.
Quaint old fashioned inn hotel great bars and food and all staff were friendly and helpful. Room was fairly spacious, bed comfortable and great to be able to open the sash windows to let in some air.
My only gripe was that the water from bath taps and the shower in my room had barely a trickle of water .. personally I’d rather a decent shower above all else
Very quirky pub lovely staff
It did the job, bed was comfy and had an airblow dryer and very clean
It was VERY hot when we stayed and had to prop the window open with the bin, no complimentary shampoo/ conditioner. Shower was not great - low pressure and broken head
The location, our family live in Winslow so it’s convenient also it was our mums funeral and the wake was being held at The Bell. The bubble bath was lovely. Breakfast was nice and tasty.
The lack of air conditioning which ruined our break as it was during a heat wave and our rooms (we had 3 for us and our family) were so hot, it was absolutely unbearable. Our son had a family room which was also unbearable but the windows were screwed shut so couldn’t be opened so all they had was a fan for 2 adults and their baby, so they got moved to a smaller room, and luckily the window opened but the heat was still unbearable, even with 4 fans!! None of us could sleep which caused us so much upset for our mums funeral day. The second night, I had to resort to sleeping in a cold bath. The rooms need air con units!
All went well. Spacious dining room. Self service all types of various breakfast foods available including traditional cooked options. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely quirky historic inn with period features. Big car park. Large covered area. Big comfortable bedrooms and a large bathroom.
Love the quaint character
We were on top floor and shower had very little water flow.
Everything was perfect. Large car park. Drinks and food were lovely. Staff were very friendly. And a four poster bed. Great location we loved it.
Nothing to not like
I had a really pleasant stay at this hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful. During the Silverstone weekend, almost every hotel was fully booked, and I couldn’t find a place to stay for Saturday because I had only booked Friday night. The staff went out of their way to help me and managed to arrange everything for me, which I really appreciated. The hotel was very clean, comfortable, and nicely maintained. The breakfast was also very good with a great selection. It exceeded my expectations. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly and welcoming place to stay.
Everything
Nothing
It was clean. That's the only thing that was good.
There was no shower gel. When I told this at the reception during check out, I was told that I should have asked for shower gel. So I would go in the shower, see there is no shower get, I would get dressed, go downstairs to a different building, and ask the reception for shower gel? In what world is that acceptable? And even if you had shower gel, you still couldn't enjoy a shower. The hot water was just dripping some water, and when you turned on the cold one to add some water and make it more tolerable to the skin, the hot water turned off. So it was either scorching hot drops or cold shower, nothing in between. The beds were too soft and wobbly.
3rd visit I proposed to my wife there 32 years ago. So special to us. Totally relaxed. Easy bus service to Buckingham or Aylesbury
Nothing in Winslow
Perfect! The room was peaceful but above all else, the ladies who run it were incredibly welcoming and friendly. I felt really safe and relaxed - as a lady travelling on my own - and they made me feel right at home. I can’t thank them enough.
Staff were lovely. They were very welcoming and we felt at home immediately. Good beer, great pies (just about the best I've ever had) and a lovely atmosphere in the pub from staff and regulars alike.
Not necessarily a reflection on the property, more the weather, however, the rooms were very hot, despite the fans provided. It was 35C outside though, so I suspect everyone was suffering.
