Beautiful Japanese style rooms. Calm welcoming atmosphere, especially from staff- very personal service. Amazing onsen ( but very hot for summer). We also tried the Japanese breakfast served in a private room. Wonderful!

A USB socket in the room, or electrical socket near a mirror would be helpful. Otherwise all good.

It was very clean, and we enjoyed the excellent service from the staff. The meals were healthy and used local ingredients. The free tour was nothing like a free of charge arrangement but was very professionally designed. We can also see the sun set in our room.

Modern, clean and comfortable hotel with great food, onsen and service. We highly recommend it!

Wi-Fi が弱かった。海外のお客様にはマストで必要なので、改善されると良いと思います。 また、食事の際の木製スプーンは使い難いので小さな持ち易いものに帰ると良いですね。

We had a fantastic stay at Kamisuwa Onsen Shinyu. The hotel overlooks the beautiful Lake Suwa, and the views are absolutely stunning. The public onsen was excellent, with both a sauna and a cold bath, making it a very relaxing experience. The hotel was easy to find and had convenient on-site parking. Both dinner and breakfast were outstanding, with a wide variety of delicious dishes. I especially enjoyed the hot tofu dish, which was one of the highlights of our meals. One memorable part of our stay was that my children completed a 16 km run around Lake Suwa before breakfast. The scenery around the lake was incredible and made the experience even more special. We genuinely couldn't find anything negative about the hotel itself. The service, facilities, food, and location all exceeded our expectations. We would definitely recommend staying here.

A security issue occurred before our stay that I believe Booking.com should investigate. Two days before our arrival, I received a WhatsApp message claiming to be from "IQ University" asking me to verify my booking by entering my payment card details. The sender correctly knew my name, Booking.com reservation number, and check-in dates, which made the message appear convincing. However, it stated that no payment would be taken and that only a temporary card verification was required. Since my reservation had already been paid in full, this immediately raised my suspicions. I contacted the hotel through the Booking.com messaging system, and they confirmed that they do not use WhatsApp to contact guests and advised me to report the incident to Booking.com, which I did. As I ignored the first message, another WhatsApp message was sent the following day from a different UK number, this time claiming to be from a "Hotel Support Manager" and again asking me to verify my payment details. Fortunately, I did not enter my card information. I hope Booking.com investigates how scammers obtained accurate reservation details, as other travellers may not recognise this as a phishing attempt.

Room was beautifully decorated, spacious, clean, had a great view of the lake! Breakfast and Dinner was a true experience - felt like eating a michelin course. Staff spoke great english and is very attentive. The bath was spacious and there was a small outdoor area.

Nice boutique hotel on the edge of lake Suwa. Well appointed, spacious Japanese style rooms and nice onsen facilities. Loved the view of the lake.

The onsen facilities required you to bring your own bath towel from the room, which was not made clear at the outset, so I had to go back and get it.

No flexibility as to set dinner. I ordered the dinner but wasn’t told what it would be. As I don’t eat beef, I was disappointed that that was the only option - having already paid a lot for the dinner. The chef wouldn’t consider a replacement (omelet, maybe?). In addition, we couldn’t benefit from the Onsen in the hotel because of our tattoos. So, for some visitors, this would be a great place to stay, but for us, not ideal.

有大眾澡堂、服務人員態度很好，就算不會日文也不用擔心。飯店有附贈四社巡禮，可以很大的幫助解決諏訪四社的交通問題，附近也有餐廳很讚！！

最後退房有要付一些些澡堂費，不過很便宜才幾百塊日圓而已，超值得！

The location of Kamisuwa Onsen Shinyu is wonderful. Our room oversaw Lake Suwa and we had easy access to the city. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional - and came with a card describing each item. A very nice idea. We really enjoyed the public bath and took advantage of the massage service the hotel offers. The bus tour for nightly viewing of cherry blossoms at at Takashima castles was a welcome additions, as was the tour to the local shrines. The room, besides overseeing the lake, was spacious and very nicely appointed. Hotel staff was friendly, always polite and helpful - very professional with a personal touch. We loved our stay.

There was nothing we did not like. We felt welcome and appreciated.

The hotel is located just beside Lake Suwa, and has an amazing view of the lake. The public bath was fantastic and even had a sauna and cold bath. Food was great as well. Ample parking available.

Check-out time was 10AM and late checkout fees were JPY7,700 per hour (and no flexibility for less than hour periods). Given that our arranged breakfast was 8:15AM and some time is required for packing, getting ready, using the toilet etc. - we felt incredibly rushed to check out and felt some frustration as we left the hotel. The staff had originally informed us that late checkout was JPY2,200 an hour, which was fine and reasonable, and we had planned to pay. However, we were later informed that it is actually JPY7,700 an hour; and that is too steep for a short extension.

Exceptional ryokan with adorable staff. The room was perfect and comfortable, with a private bath offering a beautiful view on the Suwa lake. The dinner and breakfast were very well-crafted, with local products from the region. ☺️ Bonus point : It's close to the train station !

The staff were so very friendly. I loved the restaurant with the individual private rooms. The location was central to a lot of shops and restaurants, and the view was very attractive over the water.

We booked a private onsen, that I would not recommend. There was no charm at all, and the paint was peeling from the walls. The public onsen in the hotel was very nice.

The food was great and the room was very nice. Service was great and very accommodating when I was dealing with food poisoning from earlier in our trip and couldn't make dinner.

We greeted by a helpful doorman and started our lovely stay, from very helpful receptionist to restaurant staffs. the facilities and the room are spotless clean with tasteful design, and the art pieces around the hotel. foods are excellent with a special little buffet for different pickles. Finally, we are so impressed with Ms Nakamura and Ms Yu. they both gave us a great help when we faced a problem to deal with the bus company. We're really appreciated for their patience and kindness.

This ryokan is stunning - one of the nicest places we have ever stayed! The room was palatial and was furnished beautifully with gorgeous artworks and furniture. The layout of the room was stunning. We had a barrier free room with a private onsen and a lovely lounge area, overlooking Lake Suwa. The room was clean, quiet and a beautiful sanctuary. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed breakfast each morning which showcased local produce as did the kaiseki dinner which we enjoyed on our first night. Meals were taken in private dining rooms and staff proudly shared their knowledge of the fresh seasonal food.

It was all amazing. We will definitely be back!

Had a great stay with my spouse at Onsen Shinyu. We have a lot of great memory there, thanks to the Hotel.

It was all about the food! Absolutely amazing evening meal and breakfast. The shared onsen was also very good. V nice kimonos in room.

A big commercial hotel. Location right on very busy main road. Not what we had imagined! Also very over-heated. And paying for private onsen was a mistake as the shared ones were much nicer. Decor is quite kitsch but fun!

We loved everything about this hotel! The staff and amenities were excellent. Everything was so clean, thought out and relaxing. The private onsen was a treat! The staff was so nice, they helped us get a bag back we left at our car rental, translated and help us ship it over to the next hotel. Would highly recommend here!

Everything, they made us feel awesome and welcomed. Very clean and the private onsen was great.

The food was interesting and featured many locally-sourced ingredients. The menu is great if you’re trying to avoid Pork, and very minimal shellfish was present as well. The futons in the Japanese-style room were comfortable, and the room was very spacious. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. We will miss the gorgeous Suwa Sunsets!
