Beautiful setting and elegant hotel.
Gorgeous hotel, friendly staff. Can’t recommend it enough !
Beautifully renovated chateau
Service, food, property, room, everything was perfect.
Loved this place so much. So quiet and peaceful. Dinner was lovely. Service was exceptional.
The property was beautiful and the staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding and we highly recommend making a reservation for a meal if you’re not staying at the hotel. I would recommend this experience to anyone.
The Chateau was incredible and the people were so nice and friendly. We had a great experience! Peaceful place !
This hotel is simply a dream! My fiancé and I got engaged here and the staff were all so helpful in organizing the perfect proposal. The pool is lovely and the brunch on Sunday is truly special. The staff are so friendly and eager to help. We also got a massage which was lovely. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to unwind and relax away from the city. (only a 20 min ride into the city centre so the best of both worlds) The property is stunning and we can’t wait to come back!
Inauthenticité du lieu, l’ambiance qui s’en dégage, la gentillesse du personnel font de cet endroit une parenthèse enchantée..nous y retournerons
Excellent all around
The facility was marvelous! We really enjoyed the grounds. The pool was clean and private. The most impressive and important thing was the service provided by the friendly and cheerful staff.
The Chateau's approach to hospitality is what I call : Low touch, high service. This really allows you to feel like you have the place to yourself. You have all the necessary luxuries of a 5 star hotel but the laid-back ease of a country escape. The staff is always there but with discretion. The property itself is kept very clean and up-to-date with small touches of luxury. The pictures do not do it justice as the furnishings and grounds are immaculate. The restaurant had wonderful food offerings and we were there during the low season so it really just felt like they were there for us. It is about 20 min from AIX, so you need a car, the drive is easy. This property is about relaxing and enjoying the solitude of the countryside.
Amazing property! Absolutely the nicest place we have ever stayed! All of the staff made us feel right at home and the grounds were beautiful. We would give it 5+ stars!
Exceptional staff and property
Beautiful property and incredible staff that is kind and treats guests like French royalty! Can’t say enough about the general manager who helped us with everything that we requested. Looking forward to visit again!!
We were on the wing which was newer construction. Connected to the older structure seamlessly but newer rooms. Great breakfast. Very pretty grounds. Great stay.
Want to leave a super positive review because it’s an excellent property where efforts have been made. Great breakfast beautiful grounds quiet sleep. No shower and the bathtub was actually extremely tricky to enter/exit with no way to use your right hand to push up and out ( 3rd floor room). Also the room service Niçoise salad was 4th rate , gritty dirt pieces in the bagged lettuce component. Disappointed.
Amazing spot, excellent restaurant
This is the most beautiful chateau and the staff is exceptional
We had the added bonus of catching a car show during our stay at the hotel, which was a nice perk. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional, making our experience even better. The restaurant's food and wines were outstanding. Our room was spacious and very clean. The only downside was some noise from guests outside the hotel at night, which woke me up and made it hard to fall back asleep. Overall, though, I had a wonderful time.
Beautiful place.
Great experience
Easy to get inner peace here, it’s a best place for whole family vacation. Just stay at the château and experience the pastoral life.
Blissful paradise! Magical property in a quiet of French countryside surrounded by nature sounds, yet writhing 20 min to Aix en Provence and 30 min to Marseille. We had a suite on second floor and it was very spacious with a daybed for reading, a separate walk in closet and a large on suite all beautifully decorated and included a fireplace. There was also a coffee station. Dinner at the restaurant was absolutely the best - we had a 5 course meal with wine pairing on the night of our arrival and it was the best meal of this 5 day, 3 stops trip to France. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful and delicious. Staff is helpful and welcoming. We did not have time to enjoy the spa or the pool area, but will definitely indulge when we return.
This is a beautiful chateau experience with highly trained teams who are friedly, attentive and professional. It is pricey but for good reason.
It was simply fantastic. The entire experience was totally enjoyable especially the attentiveness of the team. Thanks Everyone.
My stay was truly amazing. I only stayed for one night but the staff was exceptional and made me feel as though I had been here forever. The castle is tucked away on a beautiful and quiet property, I will certainly be back for another stay.
Everything was just perfect for our stay. The estate is super nice. Perfect for a weekend away. The dinner at Restaurant L'Orangerie was excellent. Highly recommend with wine pairing.
Grounds and rooms were super beautiful. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious. We had the perfect stay.
Great property and staff
Beautiful and peaceful. The rooms must have been recently remodeled because they’re so clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hospitality is amazing. They go above and beyond to make you comfortable. The breakfast selection was very good but the dinner restaurant could use some improvement.
Stunning property one of my new favorites the attention to detail is amazing
Great grounds and building. But…. Thoroughly let down by a terrible kitchen in the non-Michelin star restaurant, pool and room service menu. Poor housekeeping. I struggle to find why it has five stars considering the installations in the family rooms. Great reception staff
This was truly an experience, 300 year old chateau, great staff, great pool, beautiful grounds, well preserved, quant old bar in the lower area, with a wine cellar and tasting room. I would definitely come back and highly recommend! The hotel is kind of a maze with lots of rooms with tons of character, beautiful.
Very friendly staff
It’s a beautiful historic property , uniquely nested within nature - it’s a dream . I would highly recommend anyone with discerning taste , to stay at Château de Fonscolombes . This establishment is an experience , a destination worth the trip. Unlike a hotel, it offers you the opportunity to enjoy the surroundings. In fact , we had the pleasure of using the Chateau bikes. It was my first time on a bicycle and I really enjoyed my site seeing journey. The property is raw , yet beautiful. I should also mention the exceptional service of the staff . Everyone was so polite , and professional . The room selected did not disappoint , best view for sure . Every detail in the room was appreciated . From the tiny little music box on the night stand to the chef little Madeline treats which we all enjoyed upon entering . However , the nicest thing about the room was its high ceilings and large windows . I was able to open all my windows and enjoy the fresh air from both ends of the bedroom . That said ,if you’re looking for something intimate , to relax get away from everyday stress this is the place for you . I also recommend trying the restaurant , the Chef just received his first Michelin Star and I’m certain he will make this restaurant among the best restaurants in France . Every dish served was not only beautifully plated , you could actually taste the freshness of the vegetables. I’m giving this experience a 5 - STAR . Thank you , and see you next year ! G.D.S
The property is charming !!!! The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating with the exception of the guide the hotel had arranged for us. He was an excellent gentleman and a great driver but he was only a driver not a historical guide. We were supposed to have another guide when we arranged the tour. Nothing against this gentleman
Restaurant food was not up to standard fir the hotel
We are traveling around Aix-en- Provence and Luberon area for a week and staying various 5 star hotels mostly members of Relais Cheatau chain. Some of them are beyond our expectaions but Fonscolombe was not in that category although it has a great potential. Chateau Fonscolombe spans a huge area so they may have beautiful well kept gardens which means not trimmed but well kept ( each time we mentioned the hotel staff about our concerns they make explanations based on environmental issues. ) For example the pool area and the pool was not taking good care literally there was nobody to clean the pool and the pool area.. On the other hand the hotel rooms are very clean. The decorations of the room is ok but not impressive. Also the whole Chateau needs a better decoration. There are two or may be three restaurants in the hotel. One is gastronomic which we didn’t prefer to eat but the other one was quiet good. The breakfast they served was good. Overall the hotel has huge potential but need to elevate their operations especially the outdoor facilities.
I did love the Chateau- although my first room was nothing like the picture. I felt as though I was put in the maides quarters, which was dark sad and drabby. For the price I was disappointed and asked for the room in the picture- but had to get to an appointment. When I returned- the room was even worse. I ended up having to pay additional for the room I wanted. I wasn’t happy about that- but I didn’t come to this place to stay in a dungeon. The staff was so friendly almost to a fault. It was lovely once I got the room I wanted - it was the 3rd try and big effort but the property was beautiful.
The chateau is absolutely exquisite, made all the more so by the wonderful and attentive staff. The venue is like something out of a dream; beautiful rooms, fantastic restaurant, grounds to wander on and view the vineyards (and two donkeys). All the staff are friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. The divine Coralie Gourjaud (Front Office Manager) made our stay truly perfect. Special mention to Lucas Bourgville (wonderful concierge service) and the charming sprite Hilda in the dining room.
Beautiful stay with a warm and accommodating staff (Coralie was great!) and wonderful spa offerings (Nadine at the spa is amazing!). Even though my original booking had to be modified due to a private event, the staff helped with adjusting the booking. Loved how they promote wellness culture - I would definitely stay here again!
A unique Castle stay on a wonderful vast property.
What a lovely place Feels as if you are in a push 17th century facility The chateau is kept so beautiful all the details are authentic yet it is up to date with technology Wi-Fi room amenities spa and pool And above all this the stuff is so friendly (bravo s charlotte). I have to admit the one downside is it is a distanced place not easy to find in darkness but this will not prevent us from coming again
Amazing, elegant, super clean hotel with beautiful grounds and very friendly staff. Very peaceful and quiet. Wholeheartedly recommend.
Beautiful hotel/Chateau...will be an amazing property once travel fully resumes...the fine dining restaurant has the potential to be a 3 star Michelin restaurant. Been traveling in Europe for the past two months and would highly recommend staying and dining here.
The castle is beautiful but we were disappointed with the stay. The service was not up to what we were expecting for the price. The grounds are very pretty although not close to much. The restaurant is very expensive. We did not find the bed to be comfortable, and the ac did not seem to be working well.
Everything was great
Lovely grounds combined with a great restaurant however limited in options if you eat there 2 days in a row.
We visited this hotel during the quiet season and were very impressed with the facility. The hotel is an old Chateau on a huge and gorgeous property in the countryside. Needless to say the area is extremely quiet and peaceful. We were upgraded to a larger room due to it being a slow season. The staff were very professional and our room was superb. Even though the location is a little out of the way I would recommend this very much for a relaxing peaceful get away. They have also a fine dining restaurant in the hotel serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Perfect stay , lovely atmosphere
Loved the helpful front desk staff. And the waiters were very nice. Loved sirting under the 300 year old tree and view of the garden
Loved this historic property (1730), the facility, room, grounds, and especially the staff (Annie and Anmarie)
It’s a typical castle from the south of France in Provence. It’s quiet and elegant. We loved our room. It was spacious and comfortable with air conditioning which was important because of the heat wave we experienced during our stay. Fonscolombe location is ideal. it’s so close to Aix and the county of luberon where we visited many beautiful villages.
The property is beyond gorgeous, so relaxing and well appointed. The staff who for the most part are helpful and very pleasant seem to require more expert training in service, concierge assistance and bringing a cup of coffee in a timely way as asked. Hoping for these improvements I would defyinitly recommend to others and return.
Everything was lovely. Nothing like a 1730 Castle to make you feel like royalty. The common areas were museum quality, and the service matched. Great meal in the restaurant L’Orangerie as well!
The property was absolutely stunning! The Chateau itself was beautifully decorated (the first floor is original with its 18th-century design) and the rooms have been elegantly modernized for a comfortable stay. It is rich with history and you can truly feel like you can unwind and pamper yourself with the services and amenities they offer. We highly recommend you staying here if you like a bit of a city-escape an authentic Provencal experience!
I have just returned from a 14 day stay here and I can not praise the staff and property enough. From the moment I arrived the reception staff made me feel welcome and did everything they could over the course of my stay to meet any needs I had - from extra coat hangers to tour reservations. The setting of the chateau on park like grounds allows you to relax and let stress just roll off you. I wandered many times along the paths that crossed through the vineyard adjacent to the side of the chateau. There is a pool but the weather didn't cooperate so I can't say much about that. Great staff, good food and park like grounds make this the perfect stress free spot.
Fonscolombe was lovely, and we wish we could have stayed much longer than three nights. The grounds are beautiful, the staff was gracious, the house wine is tasty, and the restaurant was great. 2 recommendations: If you like a shower, and not just a tub, you should request that. Our room only had a tub with a handheld shower that sprayed everywhere. We ended up using the shower at the pool. Additionally, if you are tall, you should let them know. The closet where our toilet was located would not be big enough for a tall person to sit down comfortably, which was very strange in a bathroom large enough to park a car in.
New and very clean room. Good room value for quality. Nice restaurant.
Perfect in every way.
Ideal if setting in the countryside. Beautiful rooms, amazing food and a welcoming staff set in a beautiful chateau. We did not want to leave and plan to go back!
