Nice hotel, but costly for what it was. Liked the rooftop breakfast options.
Cost of things seemed steep for what it was.
The Virginia hotel experience was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had and I’ve been traveling for over 15 years. I’ve went to wedding venues across states and I did not expect one of the best hotels to be in an unexpected place like Lynchburg, Virginia. Jonathan, who I believe was the manager made it his top priority to take care of every single one of his guests and made me feel like I was completely taken care of. I was the best man of a wedding, and while Jonathan had many other guests, take care of still helped me out with some pre-wedding tasks. The valet team is fantastic. The front desk team excellent as well. I highly recommend that if you’re in the area stop by this hotel and pay the extra for The Better experience.
We held our 40th high school reunion at this beautiful property. I cannot offer enough praise for the overnight accommodations, the property and its location in relation to beautiful downtown Lynchburg, and especially the service received prior to and during our event. Shelby, Danielle, Shelley, and Justin were amazing from start to finish--very flexible and accommodating. Tish who worked the front desk was especially helpful throughout our time. She is an amazing employee. Thanks for everything. We'll be back for our 50th!
We had our 40th High School Reunion and everything was fantastic! A few people that went the extra mile for us was John, Shelby, Shelly, David and Jamie. Looking forward to visiting again.
Great all around. Great location, Great restaurant, great staff, outstanding room. Amazing bath robes.
This was our first time staying in the downtown Lynchburg area. We were traveling for a wedding and ended up booking here last minute after first booking a cheaper hotel on the other end of town. We left that accommodation due to hygiene issues and broken appliances, so arriving late at night to this hotel was such a pleasant surprise. Staff was so friendly and accommodating and we loved that we still had an option to grab something to eat without having to order in or travel back out. The room was clean and comfortable, all of the appliances we used worked as expected, and we felt really spoiled by this experience as people who do not tend to travel frequently. We were also upgraded for free to a suite because there were no rooms in the type that we originally booked for both nights, so it was very nice that it was automatically considered a necessity to be in the same room for both nights. The food after 10pm was, to our surprise, very good. They let us order to-go and we felt the amount of food and quality was really good considering the price and how late it was. Our servers during breakfast were very sweet and considerate of us. They looked as though they had a very strong team working together. Breakfast was also good and fresh when we received it.
Our breakfast at the skyline cafe was a lengthier experience than we would’ve preferred due to back-ups in the kitchen. Our servers stayed busy and moving, but ticket times were very long. They were nice enough to voluntarily compensate one of our meals for the delay. It felt as if there may have not been enough staff either in the kitchen or on the floor to provide service for guests. We arrived around 9:45AM and did not end up receiving food until about 10:30AM. We saw other guests who were sat further from the kitchen waiting much longer to get an order in, receive food, and pay. Breakfast portions felt a lot smaller than some of the food we had the night before also. The bathroom sink overflow drain, as well as the inner rim of the sink, were quite gross. That was probably one of the only truly “dirty” thing we saw while there; however it was unfortunately very noticeable from both the reflection in the mirror and when looking down while brushing teeth/washing face. Our bed was also quite worn out/old but we have definitely slept on worse. We only mention it because at first we thought something beneath the frame may have collapsed and made the mattress sink deeper, but then we realized the mattress just had these permanent human-sized valleys with a firm spot in the middle from age and wear. We also wish the tv had more streaming app options, but we overall enjoyed the interface of this tv compared to other hotels.
This hotel is family friendly and the staff is AMAZING! Jonathan and Brandon were so helpful and were always a pleasure to have a conversation with. The front desk staff is very sweet and energetic as well. I would definitely come back and stay again when in Lynchburg. If you are ever in the area please don’t hesitate and just give this hotel a try.
Our stay at The Virginian was wonderful. The staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. The food and drinks at both Skyline and William and Henry were incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend.
The room was amazing and clean and big and spacious
In the bar upstairs, the outdoor dining portion had so many spiders on the roof. I know since it's outdoors it's hard to keep bugs out but theses webs and spiders have been there for awhile and we immediately went back inside.
We stayed here following our day at the National D Day Memorial on a Friday. We are Hilton Honors (HH) members. Using the HH app we checked in and used digital keys on my wife’s iPhone 12. Flawless! This is a historic structure with state of the art renovations. Valet parked the car across the street. Our room was immaculate and had 14 foot ceilings! It was quiet. The staff left the AC fan on probably to mask the sound of the kitchen hood vent a few feet from our window. It worked. We heard nothing. No views from this room which was ok for us. We went straight to sleep on two double beds. Room was huge! Had dinner and breakfast in the rooftop restaurant. (Separate review.) Excellent staff! Well done HH! Thank you!
4-Star Luxury Stay – Highly Recommended! I recently had the pleasure of staying at this exceptional hotel, and it truly exceeded my expectations in every way. The rooms are exquisite, featuring elegant furnishings, premium linens, and thoughtful details that create a refined and comfortable retreat. The overall atmosphere is one of pure luxury—sophisticated yet welcoming, perfect for both business travelers and leisure guests. The on-site restaurant delivers delicious, high-quality cuisine with excellent service, making it a standout dining option without ever leaving the property. Room service was equally impressive, convenient for late nights or relaxed evenings in. What truly set this stay apart was the outstanding guest service. Johnathon, the Client Services Manager, went above and beyond, personally assisting with everything from small requests to even valeting my car himself. His professionalism and genuine care made me feel like a valued guest throughout my stay. The location is ideal—just a 10-minute walk to downtown, where you’ll find an abundance of restaurants and attractions to explore. For fitness enthusiasts, the 24/7 gym is well-equipped and nicely maintained, featuring dumbbells up to 75 pounds, two ellipticals, two exercise bikes, three treadmills, and a versatile cable pulley machine (functional trainer/crossover station). It’s one of the better hotel gyms I’ve encountered. Parking is straightforward with self-parking at $12/night or valet at $17/night. Overall, this hotel offers an outstanding balance of luxury, convenience, and value. I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a premium experience. Thank you to the entire team—especially Johnathon—for making my visit memorable!
The perfect hotel with the comfort, ambiance and special touches that made this hotel stay -perfect. Jonathan might have the best kept secret at the hotel. He handled the valet and security. He was knowledgeable and caring. We'll have his number on speed dial if our daughter ends up going to Liberty University.
The location was right Central to town and easy on off to get to Liberty University. It is the southern experience you hope for and the best and nightlife are on the roof of the hotel. Rooms were lovely and up-to-date. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and prompt. Jonathan at the front door was everywhere night and day and always had a smile and beyond helpful in every way from car to luggage door holding and just keep an eye on everything. That guy is a real gem to the Virginian.
Excellent hotel, rooms and service! Shout out to the valet staff - Jonathan and Seneca - you both provided top notch service and advice on the local area !
What a treasure of a hotel. Lovely decor, supremely comfortable rooms, charming public spaces, and a warm and welcoming staff. The icing on the cake for me was their art collection. We could have moved in and never left. We will honestly be looking for an excuse to return to Lynchburg just so we can stay here again.
Everything was perfect
Zero
Excellent. Quiet, clean rooms, upscale feel to hotel and rooms, option for valet service to park car, friendly service, good location in town. My wife and I were wonderfully pleased with the hotel. We highly recommend it.
Clean and reflected the high quality of the Curio Collection.
Nothing
Wonderful survivice from all the workers, very accomidating! And everyone is so nice and friendly, would love to stay here again!
This property is beautiful and we loved all the fine details!
Jonathan and Marty were very respectful, friendly, and helpful. They made our stay and experience even more enjoyable. Wonderful hotel. 10/10 would recommend.
We had such a great time here. The staff were absolutely amazing. From the start, Jonathan was very friendly and welcoming. Amazing experience overall.
I had the most LOVLEY time at the Virginian. I had breakfast at the rooftop, enjoyed my quiet time and got to be a witness to how attentive and caring the staff were to sleepy parents, and excited kiddos. I particularly remember the kindness of workers Steve and Maddie. They made what could have been an ordinary time, and extraordinary time. And the food was DELISH. Will always recommend breakfast on the rooftop.
My husband and I have stayed here multiple times since our daughter attends Liberty. Jonathan is almost always working the valet during some point of our visit. They say the people make the place, and Jonathan is definitely one of those people. He is always kind, inviting, ready to help, and remembers us. Those little touches make all the difference. On our latest visit, we had the pleasure of meeting Marty at the valet. He was also very friendly, talked to us at length, recommended restaurants, and went out of his way to accommodate needs. It’s rare to find strong staff members like these two men. People like them are part of the reason we return when we are in town.
Stayed for one night while passing through. A very nice hotel, well restored with good size rooms and all the usual amenities. Free parking is available within steps of the hotel and no need for valet service (unless you want it). I also highly recommend the Skyline restaurant on the top floor for good food and superior service. My only negative, and this is not about the hotel, is that Lynchburg seems to be a dying town (and least in the area of the hotel). I never felt unsafe while walking around (the Lower Bluff Walk is nice), but on a Monday afternoon it felt like a ghost town. Nevertheless, if I'm ever again in Lynchburg I would stay here again.
This hotel is absolutely amazing! The staff there is great! It was beautiful, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff member Jonathan was the nicest! He really made us feel welcome!
Absolutely beautiful and stunningly clean! Service across the board was excellent. Jonathon and Marty in valet did an awesome job and were super fast!!
Service was great overall. I love it. Will go back again

The entire staff is very well-trained and was gracious with every interaction during our 4 day stay. A particular standout was Stevethe waiter at their Skyline Restaurant on the roof of the hotel. Excellent!
Enjoyed a special reunion of Liberty University students from the 70’s staying 3 nights and enjoying a reception in the dining room. This hotel was an old hotel used as dorms for many of us students back in those days so to stay in such a beautiful first class hotel as it is now was a great treat! Beautiful, comfortable, and quiet. In other words a pretty perfect stay. Staff is friendly and helpful including the valet personnel Jonathan and Seneca and others who treated us so well. Highly recommend this beautiful hotel!
Staff was great. From the valet to the check in to the restaurant staff. Very professional.
Hotel was very elegant.... the dining options were wonderful and the food was delicious! The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean!
My wife and I just returned from a wonderful stay at The Virginian Lynchburg, Curio Collection by Hilton, and we can't say enough great things about the experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel genuinely welcome. Erin at the front desk handled our check-in with warmth, professionalism, and took the time to walk us through everything about our AMEX stay — she made a great first impression and set the tone for the entire visit. We upgraded to a suite for the stay, and the space was nothing short of impressive — spacious, beautifully appointed, and exactly what you'd hope for from a historic luxury property like The Virginian. Jonathan on the valet team was outstanding. He took excellent care of our vehicle, made sure it was ready promptly whenever we needed it, and was always eager to help with anything we asked. It's rare to find that level of attentive, cheerful service, and he absolutely delivered. We dined at the Skyline Grill, the rooftop restaurant, and it was a highlight of the trip. Dinner was exceptional — great atmosphere, great food, and excellent service. Breakfast was equally impressive, with locally sourced bacon and sausage that were genuinely delicious and clearly a cut above the usual hotel breakfast fare. My wife summed it up perfectly: "It's so nice when people make you feel so welcome." That's exactly what the team at The Virginian does — and they do it consistently. Every staff member we encountered was helpful, friendly, and professional. If you're visiting Lynchburg, this is the place to stay. We'll absolutely be back.
Skyline restaurant was amazing, rooms were beautiful.
Nothing, great Hotel.
We stay here twice a year and it is perfect. Everything about this hotel is 100%.
I had such a lovely breakfast at the Virginian! I went on a Saturday morning (~8am) and it was not busy at all. My server, Maddie Nicks, was so kind and gave me a great recommendation (the breakfast sandwich). The food was delicious and views from the rooftop were stunning, I would absolutely recommend it!
After a bad experience at another Hilton in Richmond we were hesitant to book this stay but it was lovely and what you’d expect from a Hilton. We enjoyed our stay.
Perfect charm super well appointed staff couldn’t have been friendlier!
We utilized the Eleanor Rose room for our wedding rehearsal dinner. We also booked about 10 rooms for the families of the bride and groom. The Virginian staff did an awesome job accommodating us and providing the meal for the dinner. Shelby Hutchinson was amazing with the preparations for the rehearsal dinner. Everyone loved the chicken florentine and beef along with the sides and desserts. Thanks so much Shelby! The front desk was very accommodating with a few unforeseen wedding things (our unforeseen things not theirs) that came up and worked with us to resolve them. The bell staff were awesome! Jonathan and Seneca started remembering my car and had it unlocked for me almost before I asked. We have stayed here before but never had an event. After this weekends experience I would highly recommend to everyone to book your event and accommodations here. The Virginian is the best!
This was our second time visiting The Virginian for an annual conference. I cannot say enough good things about the staff and the service. Jonathan treated us like old friends when we arrived and again when we said goodbye!
If you’re staying at the Virginian Hotel, don’t miss the breakfast. The food is excellent and the service is always amazing. I’ve stayed here multiple times and it never disappoints.
Exceeded all expectations. VAELA held it's annual UnProgram March 4-6, and The Virginian staff were the perfect hosts. From Mem to Asia, Jonathan to Marty, Danielle and EVERYONE in between, I was so impressed. THANK YOU to all the staff who assisted in making this such an easy and enjoyable conference. I have no complaints - and this is from an event coordinator. I look forward to working with all of you again!
Jonathan and his team took exceptional care of our group, going the extra mile and then even further. I left my Yeti in my room and realized it after I checked out - and the team personally found it. We were there for three days and I will definitely return again. Five star hotels should conduct their training at this hotel to experience in action how this team treats customers! Thanks for an amazing weekend!
Our daughter’s a student at Sweet Briar College nearby. We have stayed at the Virginian pretty much exclusively when we visit for her time in school. The people have been fantastic. The courtesy, care, kindness and hospitality have been top notch. From Valet with Jonathan, Seneca and Jared to the folks at check-in to the restaurants and housekeeping. Being from New Jersey, it’s nice to get this level of Southern hospitality. Our daughter graduates this year and our visits will decrease but we have a love for this group and this hotel and are thankful every time we stay.
I was in town for a business trip and this hotel was excellent at every stop Especially the customer service from the front desk to the valet parking lot, attendance to the cooks and servers at Starbucks in every restaurant I had a top-tier experience Many thanks to Memory Stahley and the entire team!
The breakfast location on the roof was less than ideal. The room was cold and the breakfast not very good or warm.

Luxury
The unaware charges. The only charge I knew about was valet parking because the breakfast was included with my booking and yet they’ve charged my card twice, and it’s been 5 days, and no manager has yet to reach back out! Highest hotel in the area and no pool. Didn’t feel comfortable in the William & Henry restaurant!
Great space
Everything
The location is good if you are looking for a spot downtown. The hotel provides excellent service and accommodations with several different on-site restaurants. Nice , clean, spacious rooms. My wife loves the white robes provided in the rooms.

This was such a nice hotel! And Jonathan was there when we arrived and when we checked out and he had outstanding service and was just so sweet and helpful!! And the front desk staff was excellent as well!! Beautiful hotel! Highly recommend!
The atmosphere at the Virginian was perfect for the Christmas season. Will be coming back next year. Special shoutout to Jonathan for the great service!
We have been staying at the Virginian Hotel over the last 4 years and cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Jonathan S. has greeted our family upon arrival for years and makes us feel so welcome. I have stayed at many other hotels and never get the welcome and service that Jonathan gives. Great Hotel.
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The room was clean and comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. A special thank-you to Jonathan for his exceptional service and kindness. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning!
Dining available at property. Large bathroom. Valet was very helpful.
I travel to Lynchburg several times a year. This is my first choice of hotel every time. It’s a lovely property with large rooms and nice amenities but it’s the staff that really make it a standout experience, every time. I always feel exceptionally welcome and well taken care of. Keep up the good work!
This is always my favorite hotel to stay at in Lynchburg. Excellent stay and the robes are so nice, I bought one before leaving last time. Jonathan and Seneca took care of me at the Valet stand each time I needed anything, and always make the stay a nice welcome as I'm far from home. I arrived on Halloween and the staff were all dressed up - it cracked me up as I pulled up to the hotel.
My husband and I stayed at The Virginian for an event, and I have never been so impressed by a hotel and its staff. Everyone we encountered was incredibly personable and accommodating. Our room was beautifully decorated, spotless, and the mattress and pillows were unbelievably comfortable. I’m someone who usually has to bring my own pillow and blanket when traveling, but I didn’t need to here because everything was perfect! I especially want to recognize Jonathan Ramsey for his outstanding service. He was warm, inviting, and exceptionally attentive, making our stay even more enjoyable. We will absolutely be returning, this experience set a new standard for hospitality!
My family had the most relaxing weekend thanks to the welcoming staff, the comfortable room, and available food. Ian (front desk) and Marty (valet) are real gems. Not only did they do an excellent job making my silly questions seem trivial, they recommended great places to eat while we waited for our room to become available and had our luggage delivered to the room once it was ready! Our 2Q room was a perfect fit for my family of 3, but I most enjoyed the bathroom; more specifically, the shower. As a tall person, the high ceilings and large shower made me spoiled to come home. Having a coffee shop to go to on the main floor and a restaurant on the roof were very convenient. Both offer great selections and were delicious. I will review these separately. Thank you everyone for making our stay so memorable! Ian (desk) Marty (valet) Jacob (valet) Aiden (valet) Lauren (desk) Housekeeping 💜
Very friendly, loved the Halloween costumes on Halloween! Beautiful hotel and room, also loved the robes. Valet was definitely worth it, always kind and very helpful people! Only thing that could use improvement is the showers water pressure. Me and my parents loved this place so much, felt like I was living in true luxury. Thank you Jonathan and all staff
We always enjoy staying at the Virginian. The customer service and extra attention is exceptional especially from Jonathan and Seneca. They always welcome us back like family! They work hard and go above and beyond. We are very thankful!
My wife and I were recently married here. The entire experience was amazing in every sense. The rooms, the service, the quality… all perfect. Shelby was awesome to work with. Special shout out to the whole valet crew, especially Johnathan Can’t recommend highly enough
Great service. Friendly staff. Appreciate the block room availability for the wedding we attended. Jonathan who manages valet/security is a great first point of contact upon check in and helpful with any, questions throughout your stay.
My husband and I had breakfast at the "Rooftop Breakfast" on Oct 4th and it was wonderful! Our server, Elle, was very attentive and polite. The manager, Steven Everett, could not have been nicer. Cudos to the cook Brandon Thompson! It was perfect. We also met Chef Alan who was so kind and friendly. It was a great experience overall. Very nice place.
During my recent stay at The Virginian, I had the pleasure of being assisted by Jonathan Jerid. From the moment i arrived, they went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. What stood out most was their genuine kindness and willingness to help with even the smallest details. Their level of service exceeded my expectations. It's rare to encounter someone who not only does their job so well but also clearly takes pride in making guests feel valued. Because of Jonathan, my stay was truly stress-free and enjoyable. I hope management recognizes what an asset Jonathan is to the hotel. I would happily return knowing that this kind of exceptional service is part of the experience.
Jonathan Seneca was absolutely amazing. If any of us needed help we didn’t have to ask, when we turned around he always there and ready to help with everything. He was the first face we saw in the morning and the last one when we were calling it a night. I don’t think he ever goes home.We had my son’s wedding there and the entire staff was right there helping with everything. Our air conditioning was broken and before we could finish telling them they had a key to a new room. We will recommend this amazing hotel and staff to everyone
Hotel is great. It is very nice, comfortable and clean. Staff is very helpful. Valet team, especially Jonathan, is very courteous and warm. This is our 6th time staying at The Virginian and we highly recommend it.
The rooms are beautiful and the staff were absolutely amazing!! The coffee shop was delicious and the roof Top bar was so fun!
Great hotel! Beds are so comfortable breakfast on the Roof absolutely delicious This was the first time I stayed here but will not be the last. I’m looking forward to next year!
Jonathan was the star of the hotel, always smiling and ready to help—from parking our car and carrying our luggage. All hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The staff, service and food of the William & Henry restaurant were also excellent.
