Staff were lovely: rooms were newly refurbished and clean: a period timber and brick bedroom very tastefully decorated.
Stairs no lift : stairs within the bedroom down to the en- suite: plus No onsite parking: parking close by but £10 per overnight fee charged.
Breakfast, excellent. Freshly cooked with quality food. Location good. Local people friendly
Very nice, lively, good food, good value, friendly staff, large outside / garden area. Good breakfast. Good selection of beers and wines.
Busy night so food service a little slow. Other guests were given keys to our room but when raised with staff there was an apology and compensation.
Great, but very dark in that area
Lightind
Great location and lovely rooms
The breakfast needs more choice of non cooked food and a choice of bread would be good.
Excellent location. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff
Staff at the outside were conversing with a customer and allowed themselves to be drawn into a discussion on how poor the food used to be... the staff member commented, that the food still wasn't that good 😕 personally we enjoyed the food and service.
Pleasant well decorated room with comfortable bed . Good shower and nice toiletries . Water and coffee machine
Would not eat here if coeliac - the menu clearly states cannot guarantee no contamination but on asking was advise yes can cater for coeliac - 2hours 20 mins after breakfast I unfortunately discovered they clearly cannot - I had asked 3 times at breakfast if GF . Will not be eating in Acorn chain again . . Have communicated with hotel directly but as yet no response - again disappointing.
Great breakfast. Bedroom beautifully decorated. Loved the retro radio, double armchair and sense of space. Arriving quite late and with 3 mins before the restaurant closed, the staff took the initiative to take my dinner order and place it on a table while I went to my room to drop my case. Great thinking from them.
Rooms that border the road are a little noisy at night with truck traffic transiting through Ampthill when other traffic is not around. Dinner menu is limited on standard main course dishes.
Location, comfort, excellent breakfast.
Best service and English pub hospitality
Very comfortable room and really great location in Ampthill. Walkable to local shopping and restaurants. The room way exceeded expectations! It looks to have been recently renovated and was very very well-appointed. Room and bathroom looked brand new and were very clean. Bed was comfy too. The downstairs pub staff were very friendly as well.
The only cons I can think of were that the HVAC was very noisy throughout the night. The water pipes may be quite old since we able to hear water gurgling all night. That being said, it's certainly not a deal breaker and would definitely recommend this Inn.
food was great (breakfast and evening meal), staff super attentive and helpful. room was quirky but nice, thank goodness for air conditioning. We live in deepest darkest North Devon with no major roads or street lighting so anything else seems noisy to us.
nothing specific, parking is little challenging, but we figured it out.
Location Decor Comfort
No parking
The room was very comfortable, particularly with air con, and very clean. The pub breakfast was excellent - you could choose whatever you wanted from the menu and it was delicious and high quality. The staff were very good.
Nothing.
Roon, location, pub
Route to room with luggage
Lovely room clean and tidy
No parking and far from any affordable shops . Slightly overpriced
We arrived very early but they let us book into one of our rooms. BEAUTIFUL!! Newly refurbished. The bathroom was newer than ours at home!! Stayed for dinner. Great food and service. Lovely dining room. Delicious breakfast. Would love to go again.
Errrrrr, nothing!!
The White Hart is excellent. Room was top notch, food was brilliant, and the staff very helpful. We will stay again.
Need to think about parking.
Everything from the friendly and helpful staff to the breakfast options to the thoughtfully decorated rooms in this charming old house were amazing. The room was bigger and lighter than we had anticipated, the renovated bathroom was lovely. The property was quiet (it has a lovely pub downstairs but we never heard it in our room on the top floor) and felt incredibly safe, welcoming and like a real home away from home. We would love to come back one day!
The AC unit was a little loud, and we had booked a twin room and found each bed to be very small. Having to find parking around town each day was also not ideal. These things did not make our stay any less excellent though!
Amazing friendly staff, great food and the rooms are to die for :-)
Nothing
Lovely room and a querky building. We only used the room and breakfast and all very comfortable and breakfast was good
Great lively place, nice outdoor seating. Air conditioning is great

The hotel was centrally located, which is what I wanted and the breakfast was amazing! Comfortable room with beautiful scenery so what more could you want?
I did not stay long enough,,
A superb place to stay. The staff were all very friendly throughout the stay and very efficient at what they did. The pub is very cozy and well decorated. a good selection of beverages in the bar. The evening meal menu was refreshingly different to the standard fare at pub hotels. This one had the popular meals available but also a selection of different ones from the norm. Mine was very nice, well cooked and a good portion size. The room was outstanding and really comfortable maintaining some of the old charm but with well maintained feel to it. Slept very well even though I was in a room at the front of the hotel. Not disturbed by any road noise at all. Then it came to breakfast time, that was real treat when it came out. So well cooked and when I asked for my eggs in a slightly amended way they came out exactly as I asked. There is a pay and display car park next door which is good value for money for an overnight stay or 24 hours. If I really thought hard I wouldn't be able to find fault with it. I would return to the area just for another stay here, and I will do next year.
Nothing, dont change a thing.
Great job on the refurb. Room, restaurant and outside areas were great. Staff excellent too.
Glass waste being emptied into refuse truck in the very early morning! No way you can sleep through that!
Great location in the centre of Ampthill, a lovely little town. Food excellent, rooms comfortable and spotless, staff excellent, food in restaurant superb
Nothing
A lovely place to eat, drink and stay
The room was beautiful, the staff were so friendly and attentive and the food was amazing. Even having the music playing in the room on arrival was a nice little touch. Loved the venue.
The only downside was that it was so nice that when we returned from the wedding we were attending we came back to bouncers on the door and a very loud crowd which we could hear in our room till late. Although it surprised us we accept it is a very pub and so it’s to be expected that it would be busy. It was just a bit too loud and busy and kept us awake for awhile. The place was lovely though.
Breakfast was excellent, staff so helpful. Accommodated an early check which was very much appreciated
Service excellent, rooms gorgeous. Food delicious, true hospitality at its best.
nice room, great food and a good beer
nothing
Beautiful re-furbished hotel. Very friendly staff, who couldn't do enough. Very tasty breakfast.
Bar was extremely busy in the evening, but was a Saturday night, so was to be expected.
Great service and beautiful rooms
Good facilities Nice staff Lovely period building
Noisy bar area Would have eaten in the restaurant but the hubbub was too much. I’m older and the clientele were predominantly young and loud.
Excellent service, great food , lovely staff
LA HABITACION DE y el ensuite la ducha es genial
Todo estaba perfecto, maybe the breakfast which was.
Beautifully updated. High-quality rooms with great bathrooms, L'Occitaine toiletries. Retaining the period aspect of the building. Staff super friendly and helpful and clearly a firm favourite for locals in the evening. The bar was positively humming! Breakfast was excellent with some of the best scrambled eggs ever! A really wonderful stay. Thank you.
Sadly.no dedicated car park, but public Ringo one very close by.
Checking in was a bit chaotic as a busy pub but no real issue. The room was immaculate, spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious.
We wasn't informed of breakfast times on checking in, was a bit worried getting back late due to the pub closing so had to make sure we was back by 11.00pm
Am a rep and travel alot. The detail was spot on, especially for the price we paid. Just referb'd, very comfortable, top brekkie. Spot on.
Erm, genuinely struggle to think of anything negative.
It was clean
Heaters not working in the room Went for breakfast at 7:25am had still not received my breakfast by 8am and had to leave for a meeting The night before they forgot us when waiting for food Paying took my details twice my colleagues twice then took payment off his account only we wanted to pay per room separately very poor
The breakfast was super excellent choice available quality ingredients . Light lunch available didn’t have the opportunity to have dinner on this occasion but menu looked great. All staff very helpful and friendly. Newly refurbished to a high standard retaining important heritage features with modern comfort in bedrooms. Excellent central location. Large garden area. Would definitely recommend.
Due to the age of the building a lift was not available so would have to be reasonably mobile to cope with the stairs . Usually look for somewhere with its own car park but easily parked almost next door in small paying car park.
Ideally situated
Ver clean and comfortable
Didn't know what to expect as never stayed in the area. I was very happy with everything about my stay, will definitely be returning
Some young staff who had far more courtesty and understanding than their manager.
The stay was spoilt by the first interaction, which is your first impression. The manager who greeted us was totally negative. We had already requested an early check in (And paid for the priveledge) as we were attending a family wedding, only to be told that the early check in meant 2.00pm not 3.0pm. Our wedding was 1.45pm. We were however offered a disabled toilet to get changed in. However we returned at 12.00 and our room miraculousy was ready for us but we did,nt need negativty having just driven 200 miles.
The room had clearly just be refurbished and was in excellent condition. There was a Nespresso coffee machine which was a bonus. All the furnishings were very tasteful. Staff were good and friendly.
Our room, number 2 was directly over the bar. This made it pretty noisy but the main problem was that the radio appeared to be on all night!
As good, if not better than any 5* hotel in the UK. They have recently updated the property and done it exceptionally well.
There isn't any parking, however there is a cheap public carpark next door to the hotel, which uses an app on your phone. £10 for 24hrs.
Very happy with our stay
Nothing
Greatvplace to meet friends and have a drink and some food, booked a toom that has recently been updated, a great job by all the team there.
Parking was not subsidised
The hotel was very nice, nice breakfast, good atmosphere in the bar in the evening. Nice staff. Rooms very clean and nice. All with all really recommending this hotel if you travel or just would like to have a nice stay in that area.
We went on opening weekend following a refurbishment, the hotel looked amazing. Everything in the room was new and we felt very privileged to be part of the excitement. The location is right in the middle of the village and parking is very close by. Most of all the staff were just wonderful, all of them made us feel at home and were really attentive, they were all very friendly.
Everything! Surroundings, bedroom, location, staff and facilities.
Breakfast was freshly cooked and was delicious
Great staff always looked after me Great location Good food and beer
Very low roof in room , at 6,5 it was a head hitting time on occasions
Great location, right in the middle of Ampthill. Friendly staff and the meal that we had there was excellent, as was the breakfast the following morning. We had a free upgradge by Booking.com so the room was very spacious and clean.
Maybe because it was a Saturday night, the music from the pub downstairs could be heard loudly in our room above, and it was noisy on the street at closing time as our room was at the front.
Table service at breakfast and great choice all included in the rate.
Room was a little dark and could do with a refurb. Bathroom window needs a blind.
This hotel is GRIM. Small uncomfortable bed. Paintwork very chipped and tired. Both th bedroom and bathroom were dirty. TV didn’t work. Staines on the carpet. Staying for a funeral the following day. If we could have left we would have.
Comfortable, quiet room, although a bit short of furniture (no drawers, only one chair). Excellent service from all staff. Very good breakfasts, and excellent dinner. Convenient free car parking.
Great location, hotel has a lot of old world charm.
Couldn’t get back in when we returned after our night out! Place was locked up with a wedding reception taking place - they wouldn’t let us in! Only managed to enter when someone left!
Good location, lovely building and room, staff were excellent.
The air con in one of the rooms didn’t work well at all and window couldn’t be opened over a heatwave weekend, so it was extremely hot at night. The staff however were great and tried to fix it several times, eventually bringing an industrial fan to the room which helped!
Old building which had character.
We stayed there for the night. Room was old and paint was peeling from the walls and not all that clean.
Really helps and friendly staff. Lots of history
We went to a wedding the venue was a nice set up
The bed rooms were absolutely filthy !!!!!!classed as deluxe never seen deluxe.
Not much
List is too long
Breakfast and dinner. Excellent staff and food
Sadly sunday evening we couldn't persuade them to wait an extra 15 minutes before they closed the kitchen
THE SERVICE WAS EXEMPLARY EVERYONE WAS SO HELPFUL . Food was good and served promptly .Assistance to get luggage to room and to exit the next morning was so very helpful
Wish there had been a car park
Friendly and helpful staff Quaint decor Historic
No parking
Breakfast and location good
Bulb in bedroom not working . Hard to know if carpets were clean due to dark colour ; hole in the wall ; toilet flush inconsistent ; half rolls of toilet paper ; WiFi inconsistent ; curtains didn’t block out light ; ‘old fashioned ‘ 60’s room and fittings ; very steep stairs stairs to bedroom :
First time staying at this hotel and the experience was ok. It’s a shame there is no car park attached.
Room similar to bedroom in most countries in the 60’s . Hole in the wall ; dirty shower filling on walls & floor ; bulb not working over bed light ; toilet flush works sometimes ; inconsistent wifi signal; certainly need to be active to go up the many small stairs ; small toilet entry and exit is at a height that’s guaranteed to give you a sharp ‘ bang’ no warning sign ).
Original features were great. A real sense of history. Such an old building.
There was dust on all the open clothes shelves and Dust on the fire hearth. The bathroom needs a lick of paint to cover flaking parts. More hangers needed.
The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Food was very good Bedroom was of a large space, ensuite was nice and modern.
Air conditioning was not great, had to have a mobile cooling unit put in the room. Stairs to room quite steep.
Clean and modern and staff very attentive!
Room did not have air conditioning working
Great hotel
