Glenapp Castle

Elegant small hotel set in a beautiful castle setting with two 5 star restaurants on-site surrounded by beautiful gardens for strolling.

Clean and comfortable with great service and food. Wish I had booked more nights!

Excellent service, food and accommodations. Historical relevance and a unique experience.

Staff were very friendly and attentive. The fresh flowers all around the hotel and bedroom were lovely. Jen in the Azalea restaurant was a brilliant host and the food was amazing.

Excellent country house hotel. The greatest asset are the staff who are welcoming , efficient and friendly. Room was immaculately clean. Grounds are beautiful to explore. Will definitely make this an annual visit.

Beautiful hotel, staff were incredibly helpful and always there when needed.

Called me a week in advance. Asked me if I was celebrating a special occasion (our 10 year anniversary). Also, if we had any allergies. Check in great. Place is beautiful. Facade of castle from outside a little tired. After checking into room, noticed a fly and insect infestation later in bathroom. Informed management. They took pictures. Nothing done or followed up. Dinner outstanding, the service is amazing and the staff really are well trained. Almost too much! (007 like with their earphones!). Returned to room, TV not working. To their credit, manager brought another TV - it's 10.30pm now. Still nothing done about insects (I have video and pictures too - review isn't letting me upload them). Breakfast 10/10, again top notch service. Credit to their staff. Went for a walk around grounds. Lovely. On checkout, no mention of issues. Dinner and wine came to £200+ and the overnight stay £300+ For a romantic, overnight experience. To fork out almost £600, I was not impressed. I'm disappointed. I expected big things from this place - we'd been wanting to come here for a long time. Informed hotel of our feedback on checkout survey. It's been a few days, still not heard from them. Sadly, we won't be returning.

Very helpful friendly staff with the meals absolutely amazing

This castle is THE dream destination. We went for our Anniversary and everything was perfect from start to finish. The room was beautifully and tastefully decorated as were all the public rooms. We felt totally relaxed from the moment we stepped inside. The staff were discrete and efficient and nothing was too much trouble for them. If you want to be treated like Royalty, then this is the place for you.

I wish you offered six stars as an option. Great experience, great food, great property, great staff.

Beautiful floral displays throughout the hotel. Wonderful staff and service. Lovely grounds to walk around. The archery was great fun thanks to George who was a fantastic coach.

Beautiful hotel, wonderful service, lovely food but tiny portions

Fabulous stay. Has not lost any of its Scottish charm with five star comfort and excellent food.

The whole experience was amazing. The rooms were stunning along with the grounds. Every member of staff was so attentive and friendly. The food was delicious as well. We wish we would have been able to stay longer

Beautiful castle hotel, amazing location

We arrived very late and had called ahead to let the staff know we would be late for our dinner reservation. We were told the kitchen closes at 9:30pm but would have sandwiches or salads available. We arrived after 9:30pm and upon arrival we were escorted to the drawing room to relax for a few minutes, but to our surprise they kept the staff in and served us a full dinner. We felt so bad they kept their staff on just for us, but that is the level of service we received at all times. I would HIGHLY recommend Glenapp Castle! Our room was spacious, cozy, clean and very well-appointed. Again, definitely a place I would stay again when back in Scotland

Staff make the difference,well managed

Greeted as we were helped in parking after coming through the gated entrance. Made to feel that nothing was a problem and was there to help us enjoy our stay. Excellent food, great room and bathroom.

Absolutely outstanding in every respect. Thank you for for spoiling my wife and I so much.

Remote and tranquil, beautiful gardens and walks.

Amazing hotel. The grounds were so beautiful with the autumn colours. The service in exemplary, very personable but not starchy. We will definitely return.

When you turn up to a castle you expect something a story. This wasn't and didn't match the brochure. I asked about the history of the castle. I got told it was built 1850 ish. No other details. I found more details from wikipedia than i did from the staff. The service was very slow and very formal. Breakfast took over one and a half hours. Dinner was over 2 hours. The formality remained me more of my old boarding school than a hotel. The seating in the dinning room was closer than the expected 2 meters

Lovely stay 6 nights service and accommodation perfect if you like period style. WFI a little hit & miss, other wise a lovely place to spoil yourself

On the whole our stay at Glenapp Castle for 3 nights was excellent. Service location food grounds etc were all very good to a very high standard . We had the grand master suite which is the biggest suite and it was lovely.....couple of things were not to standard which we did point out and hopefully will be rectified as we do Plan to revisit with family and friends.

This hotel is not worth the money!! Unfortunately when you point out things that could be improved on they are not at all receptive to anything but compliments . We had a large room with a tiny tv not coffee or tea in room unless you phone for it. Three times we were forced to call the hotel on the outside line as no one answered internally. We stayed two nights and complimentary toiletries not replaced with asking( the bed was remade but no cleaning took place on second night. Anything we asked for in the room we had to ask more than once ie toiletries water and room service menu. We stayed 2 nights had one disappointing dinner and paid £1300. Not worth it. The breakfast was however very nice!

Absolutely fabulous Hotel for a relaxing break, very quiet and peaceful surrounded by beautiful gardens and trees. Wonderful.

Excellent stay with really friendly service

This was our second time at Glenapp. We were a bit uncertain how things would be after the pandemic closure but need not have been concerned - it was all as good as we remembered and they had all the sensible precautions in place for our stay.

Great staff

Despite the national Covid rules and current upgrade works we had an amazing stay to celebrate our anniversary and the staff couldn’t have tried harder to make our stay special! The food was out of this world and we will return with friends once the pandemic is over.

My wife and I have just returned from a great stay at the castle. We had great service from our arrival to departure. All the staff were very friendly and very attentive. The breakfast was very good and served to our table. We also enjoyed the excellent dinner in the lovely dining room.

Glenapp was excellent as always Great food lovely team of people and beautiful location One of our favourite hotels anywhere for a short break

Beautifully elegant and a wonderful relaxing place to stay! The food is outstanding!

Très confortable, chambres grandes , belle décoration , tapis et moquettes douillets et très propres, très bien chauffée, aucun bruit, personnel très professionnel et attentionné, nourriture excellente,

Staying at Glenapp Castle was the most unique and amazing experience I have ever had. 10 out of 10, would recommend to others!

A return visit after 16 years. Remains one of our favourite all time finds. Ok so you put on a couple of pounds, but this just reflects the great food and relaxing ambience of the castle. The staff are ever vigilant and keen to anticipate your every need. Even the Scottish weather was a pleasure! Wish we could have stayed longer ... until next time!

Absolutely incredible hotel and stay. The rooms were beautiful, property gorgeous, service and food superb! The perfect place to stay if your looking for an intimate castle experience. Truly magical!

My family loved it all, the room, food, location, gardens

Outstanding 3 days and it will be difficult to match.

Excellent stay, 5 star hotel. Exceptional staff and food was excellent. Overall brilliant. Only thing is that the activities nearby eg the boat trip to Ailsa Craig etc are weather dependent. Something to bear in mind.

My now fiance and myself have just returned from an absolutely fantastic weekend at Glenapp Castle. From the moment you arrive at the main gates and make your way up the driveway you realise how private, intimate and spcial Glenapp truly is. My partner and were met at the front door whare we were made to feel exceptionally welcome. Our luggage was delivered to our our room promptly, so promptly it was there before us. After we were give a tour of the common rooms we were taken to our room. The room did not disappoint it was beautifully decorated, clean, warm and welcoming. As it was a wee bit late in the evening by the time my partner and I arrived we decided on ordering some snacks to our room rather than have dinner in the hotel. The Saturday morning breakfast was lovely, I had opted for the full grill breakfast, my partner had the crushed avocados served on sourdough toast topped with 2 poached eggs. My partner and I had decided to dine in the hotel in Saturday evening whare we had the 6 course gourmet meal. We decided to sit in the drawing room for a few pre dinner drinks before being led into the dining area . The dining area its self is beautiful and intimate , the meal was both well presented and flavoursome I will honestly say one of the best meals I have ever eaten. It was after dinner when I took my partner for stroll and proposed , we are now hoping to honeymoon at Glenapp. It's beautiful, private and special place to spend a few days with your loved one .

Beautiful room, in a fabulous location - one of the best meals I have ever had!!defo coming back!!

Beautiful position, great service, great food. Loved the grounds

Incredible experience. Friendly, courteous, and helpful staff. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. Thank you.

We had a wonderful stay at Glenapp Castle. The staff is exceptional and the grounds are beautiful.

Fantastic comfortable stay with attentive thoughtful service. Fabulous food.

Beautiful hotel spent my 60th birthday a stay I won’t forget. Everything was perfect

Amazing hotel, service over the top & accomadating especially since our luggage was missing.

Unfortunately weather took a turn for the worst and curtailed our outdoor exploration but this added to our appreciation of the luxurious comfort of the castle with welcoming large log fires. Food and service first class with staff going out of there to be friendly and helpful making this an experience not to be missed.

fantastic stay, will be back

A memorable stay at a beautiful location. Staff were outstanding and service was perfect. Food fantastic. Nothing was too much for any of the staff who were a pleasure to chat to. I wanted a perfect location for our 30th wedding anniversary and got it. During our stay in Scotland we stayed at 2 other 5* hotels and the paled in comparison. Thank you, particularly Andreas and Hugh. We will be back.

The moment you arrive at the cast iron, voice activated front gates you know that this is going to be a good stay! No need to check in, just make your way up the drive to the front entrance where your bags will be whisked away to your room and you'll be treated to quick tour of the castle before joining your bags. From start to finish everything is relaxing and taken care of, even down to the wellington boots and jacket at your disposal to allow a stroll around the gardens in not so clement weather. Food is delicious though a word of caution, leave the denims and t-shirts back at the house - dinner is somewhat more formal. Cannot fault a thing, and we will be back for another visit.

Exceptional service and food. The 6-course dinner was an explosion of flavours at a reasonable price. The castle grounds were fun to explore. The perfect holiday if you are looking to escape for a quiet and relaxing night.

What a fantastic place. Surrounded by natural beauty and the most helpful, friendly staff. From the chef to the lady who runs the tea shop in the walled garden, everyone was really interested in us. They all asked where we would be going each day and suggested places. Food was divine. I can't recommend it enough. We will definitely be returning.
