We liked having kitchen with 2 electric elements, fridge, dishes etc
We would prefer a coffee maker or bodum because kurig creates plastic which goes to landfill. We would like to have been able to recycle paper and plastic if that’s available in Daajing Giids. A refillable shampoo dispenser would also be nice environmentally.
The location is fantastic, right by the convenience store and visitor center. The staff was exceptionally helpful and nice.
The washroom was a little too small.
Perfect location, friendly staff, clean
Central location , close to restaurants , friendly staff, beds were comfortable and room was clean. Property grounds were full of flower borders and well kept
Traveling with some with severe mobility issues makes this property very difficult. There was a ramp but our room was at the far end of property and there were multiple levels of flooring to get there. Would have been impossible if you were completely wheel chair bound. Room was dark with only lamps. Making coffee was a challenge in the morning without opening curtains to wake everyone up
Frank was great. Accommodating and helpful
Motel is well maintained and very convenient to the town and area. Could easily walk to the harbour, restaurants and businesses.
Parking is limited and can be a challenge, but traffic is not very busy so street parking is possible.
It is an older motel but clean and comfortable. The fellow at the front desk was friendly and very helpful.
Clean and tidy, friendly.
The family that runs this place is wonderful! They’re very accommodating and willing to help with making your stay in Sea Raven and town more comfortable.
Location. Comfortable beds. Good hot, strong shower.
Although I am not looking for anything fancy, the room smells strongly of mold.
Yes, it's old and needs renovating but this is not a 5-star community that could use or benefit from a top class facility. George the proprietor was terrific. Even before I got there, he told me about this small community; where to go, what to do, what distances and such. Room was comfortable with everything you needed. Shower was terrific. On my first day he let me check in early and stored my luggage under photo surveillance he said. Great stay. Thank you George…
I would definitely stay here again
In dire need of renovations! We spent one night here and had reservations for a return trip at the end of our vacation, but ended up canceling after this stay. First off the parking lot has no room to park vehicles, plus it has a narrow access road into it so unless you have a tiny vehicle and can figure out where to park in the tiny square - even then only one or two vehicles would fit, so you have to park along the highway & haul your bags to your rooms. Our room had 2 single beds - surprisingly not too bad, a table, with a very large TV on it blocking the only window that looked out onto an outside wall for the outer hallway. Plus a small dresser, little fridge that needed to be plugged in on our arrival & 1 chair. The bathroom... the toilet was the shortest toilet we've ever seen and the window was unable to be closed or latched, so we heard road noise all night. Coffee pot quit working after first cup in the morning. Yep, not going back!
Friendly and very helpful staff (owner?). Good location
The place definitely needs maintenance or, better, refurbishment. The room was perfectly clean but the kitchenette was close to awful. Everything is fairly expensive on Haida Gwaii, but CA$ 200 / night was rather on the expensive side
Order taken in timely manner, friendly & accommodating staff. Very handy to have a breakfast option on site to our motel. Other restaurants very close by in area for supper, and a convenience store a handy walk away.
Restaurant next door ought to stay open for dinner. They stay open until 2:00 serving the breakfast and lunch crowd.
quaint old style motel
Very helpful staff and a very nice location
Great view. A few steps even for forest floor rooms. Bathroom tiny
Older property. Nice staff. Amazing location.
The view
To many rules
The Sea Raven Hotel is an older property. It was a great place for our 4 day stay. I had a double and twin bed in my room with a full fridge and other kitchen amenities. I enjoyed my stay. The room is older but is definitely sufficient and clean. I was concerned about all of the extension cords in the various rooms. Nice little sitting areas outside that we used. Very close to Visitor’s Centre and downtown Daajing Giids! Frank works hard to meet your needs!
Clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly. The location was great too a it was a short walk to DG
A little dated and dark but kinda what you expect from the picture.
Frank was an amazing host - could not do enough for you. Ocean view rooms lovely and bright
We got exactly what we expected. A decent place to sleep, clean, comfortable and reasonable value.
Frank is great. The room we stayed in was dated but comfortable. We slept great. It was a little warm without A/C but it cooled off in time. We would stay again. We didn't try the restaurant. The fish and chips place is close by and good, the convenience store has great breakfast wraps and coffee and the visitor center is very helpful. Beautiful town with great history.
Frank was awesome! We forgot some medicine in the room, he tried a number of times to get hold of us and ended up running for the inter-island shuttle and arranging for the driver to deliver it to us at the airport in Sandspit. Above and beyond service! The motel is clean, well run and has an excellent location. Highly recommended!
Good stay
The room is clean and comfortable. The size is adequate. The owner, Frank, is wonderful. We arrived on Sunday (there is no taxi service on Sundays). Frank picked us up at the ferry. The hotel is conveniently located to the visitor center and shuttle station and to the excellent Blacktail Restaurant.
This is a standard roadside motel. I didn't NOT like it. It's clean, quiet and comfortable
We would totally tell people to stsy
Monday before Canada Day was quite quiet and all restaurants closed in town. Luckily the property manager was on site and guided us to a fish and chips stand. To our surprise, the food there is really fresh and tasty. We will definitely come back the next time when we will be around.
The location was excellent, and the host went out of his way to make us comfortable. When the ferry was delayed, he let us back into our room, to wait in comfort.
Nothing, it is basic but more than adequate.
Clean and nice
Central, staff were friendly, clean and comfortable
Older, room was on a tilt,
They say kitchenette but it is a plug in 2 element electric stove burner. The pans were worped so you had to hang onto them so they don’t fall right off element. In the regular rooms poor lighting and shower doesn’t work. No microwaves in regular rooms. Frank was friendly and helpful
Simple clean motel, beautiful area, friendly staff, good value for Haida Gwaii, 2nd time we've stayed here.
It's overpriced compared to mainland motels. Walls are very thin, take earplugs.
All good.
Beautiful setting on Skidegate Inlet. Clean, simple, comfortable and welcoming. Good value for Haida Gwaii and 10 minutes from the ferry. Motel offers 50 CAD late check out if you're taking the 10:00 pm ferry. Will stay again.
Dated but refurbished, parking at Motel limited, you maybe across the road. The standard double was a small twin, no microwave as usual in a motel at this price, only a coffee maker and fridge. A kettle was provided on request and Twinnings Earl Grey tea.
Beautiful location, very nice staff, good linen.. just old and shabby.
Frank was he best. He helped me with my luggage and made sure I was settled when I arrived. Having a small fridge in the room was a bonus!
Property was clean, but needs some TLC
Wrap around balconies full of flowers in boxes, well maintained, older place, good size parking lot. Quiet and safe
All good
The host Frank was awesome, very friendly and went out of his way to make sure the room worked for me and that we were comfortable because I had recently recovered from knee surgery. The motel is older but is clean and well kept. We stayed two nights when we first arrived on Haida Gwaii and came back for a third night before catching our ferry home. Frank was nice enough to let us do our laundry for free because we were returning customers. Definitely recommend staying here.
Frank was awesome. Super service. Even carried my waljervtonthevroom and delivered ice when we need it
A hidden gem! Old, but well maintained and clean. Quiet, convenient to walk anywhere in Daajing Giids. Owner is delightful; gracious and very helpful.
Clean and comfortable, although it is an older building. The owner is wonderful, very gracious and helpful. Easy walking to just about everything in DG, and the Museum in Skidegate is a doable walk.
Room was comfortable, everyday cleaning good. People are friendly.
Classic motel. Centrally located in village.
Helpful service, small comfortable room.
Dry clean. Owners very helpful.
Window coverings were terrible outdoor lighting shining in at night rooms very dated would not stay again
Frank at the office is truly amazing. He is very helpful and accomodating and quite pleasant to deal with. This is a great place to stay
Frank at the front desk is a gem. He is very accommodating and pleasant. This is a great olace to stay
Frank the owner is very friendly and wants your stay to be good. He is very helpful. The motel is older, but clean, comfortable, easy location to ferry.
Very kind owner. Perfect location. Close to ferry and some really great restaurants.
Nice staff, comfy room. Not alot of parking.
Rooms are basic. Clean has a fridge and coffee maker, TV HAD NETFLIX. walking distance to everything
Great location, nice place. Owner is a great guy
Great
We chose to spend one night here due to a big wind storm and not wanting to be in a tent during that weather. Price was expensive ($180 including a fee for two dogs) but expected. Room was aged but clean. The room was lacking basic safety equipment - predominantly there was no smoke detector, completely illegal in a motel. We covered the beds with sheets so dog hair wouldn’t transfer and were quietly in bed before 10pm - the room next to us however partied and had guests over knocking on doors until 2:30 am so sleep was non existent. After turning down the heat and turning lights off as requested we returned our key and boarded the ferry. At this point we were contacted by the owner saying he was charging us $100 plus tax for damage to the toilet - which had stopped flushing and required inside access to the tank to reset - my setting the lid down cracked it. I certainly wasn’t violent and this indicates to me previous wear and tear on a PINK toilet that was made 40 years ago. Making a guest pay $112 for a toilet purchased that long ago? Also he is flat out lying to us trying to say there was a smoke detector in the room. Do not ever ever ever stay here. Ever. Scammers and liars.
The owners were helpful and always working to make the exterior grounds nicer and safe. It was well kept and painted. The room themselves are small and the tv service was down for the 4 days we were there. We rented a kitchenette and they could use some more cooking utensils and cutlery. Also we had to clean up the kitchen when we left. The 2 burner stove was very outdated from the 1970s. Also they had no fan in the bathroom so the room was rather humid the whole time. THe location in town was good with restaurants next door. The 3 of us were there for hunting so it was decent. My understanding is that the isolated island has challenges that other hotels may not encounter.
Reasonably priced in a good location. Easy walk to the town's limited number of restaurants.
It was also affordable for my budget.
The staff were very helpful and the location was good with a short walk to places to eat and easy access to the ferry. The room was warm and the beds were comfortable.
The shower head needed repair/replacement. I would have liked to be able to make a cup of tea not just coffee. The owner did provide a kettle when asked but I had to use my own tea bags.
Old motel well maintained. Great staff & restaurant next door. Centrally located. Had an issue with water pressure in the shower, but in a spot this special a minor quibble. I would come back.
Location was acceptable. Comfortable bed.
Clean smell was a little strong
Location and value were excellent
Bathroom door didn’t lock and the shower needed a new shower head
Older but very clean. The staff went beyond expectations to help us in any way they could. Excellent restaurant and tv and books to read.
The people next to us were rude but nothing the owner could do about it so didn’t mention it.
This was a great location for my work trip. It was great having a restaurant attached to the property.
Good location
We had a late check in, went for dinner right away. By the time we were back the office was closed. The room had a single and a double bed. Went to go to bed and the sheets on the double bed were dirty. Showed Frank (owner) in the morning. All he offered was a free breakfast. For how disgusting it was i should have had my money back. Never go there.
The front desk clerk, Frank, was so kind and helpful.
Clean but an older hotel needing renovation
Great location, very friendly staff
For an older property it is very well maintained and clean. The adjoining restaurant offers a full range of options.
Great location and good price
Nothing
Location & cleanliness
Room window opens onto breezeway with obstructed daylight. Very tired facilities, dark, missing lightbulbs
