Delighted to find this lovely hotel in Aalst, very close to the train and bus station. Full of old-world charm unlike so many cold sterile hotels today. The proprietor Christophe was very welcoming and helpful. Spacious room, with very comfortable bed and armchairs and everywhere very clean. Lovely garden with seating to enjoy a drink from the honour bar. Great buffet breakfast included. If you like warmth and character, this hotel is for you. Thank you Station House for a lovely stay.
Excellent location. The owner was very helpful with directions around the village and suggestions for dinner. Breakfast was custom ordered and fabulous! Highly recommend!!
Charmant smaakvol gedecoreerd oud pand. Zeer vriendelijke bediening. Stijlvol gebouw in centrum maar moeilijk te vinden doorontelbare wegenwerken op dit moment.
The property itself is a grand dame getting a bit tired in a very elegant fashion. Reminds me of French Quarter, Louisiana USA. Or the set from the movie "GiGi" with Leslie Caron, right down to the draperies and furniture. I loved it. If you like Ibis hotels, this is not for you. You are better off to pay for staying in a larger room on a lower floor, rather than the 3rd top floor, aka, the attic. Parking is not good. Like all of Belgium, ppl drive and park like maniacs. If you find a spot near the hotel expect to pay 4 euros for 2 hours (Max time) from 9am to 7pm. Credit/bank card only. Sunday free. Usually you are going to have to walk to the hotel. I was travelling alone, and it got creepy in the dark. At times, I felt like running.😳 Although the cleaning staff was very kind, I could never get a handle on about what time they would knock. I denied them a couple times because it was not a good time for me. The owner asked when I was going to let them in to do maintenance. Probably when I am not in the shower. The following day they didn't knock, just left supplies at my door. Confusing. Breakfast was perfect! Sum it up...elegant quirky hotel in an active city. You will hear sirens, trains and ppl all hours. The community areas show better than the rooms. Parking is horrid, the staff is very nice. The owner is on premise and quick to assist. The breakfast offered is high quality. And they have a private garden. CCTV cameras are in the bldg.
It was amazing experience at station Hotel. It is near to aalst center shopping. It is a cosy hotel.
The hotel is situated in one of the older buildings in Aalst very close to the station and the city centre. We were only staying one night but the rooms were big and clean. The host was very kind and we felt very welcome.
What a Find! First of all location is hard to beat and hospitality on site is like in no place other. The moment you step in, you feel very well looked after. Staff are so polite and kind. Rooms very well cleaned, maintained and breakfast all you can wish for. Don’t hesitate to stay here when in Aalst. Will definitely be back!
Great hotel conveniently placed near both the station and the town centre. Although the building is historic and full of antiquities it has all the essential amenities including a lift; & they serve a generous breakfast The staff are very friendly and welcoming.I can highly recommend this lovely hotel.
REALLY GOOD LOCATION, JUST 3 MIN FROM AALST STATION, QUIET AREA WITH A FEW CHILL OUT PLACES FOR BEER! HOTEL BREAKFAST IS VERY GOOD, SERVING FRESH ORANGE JUICE WITH MORE THAN ENOUGH SELECTION, VERY ATTENTIVE SERVICE!
The hotel is quite special, the old fashioned design is nice and funny, the private garden is a great place to relax after a busy day. The bed was comfortable and everything one's needing in a room was there. The guy at the desk was very nice and friendly, so that was a nice experience.
Really nice hotel and the owner was so helpful, friendly, clean and a great location.
It was only a quick visit but the staff were great and the hotel had plenty of character. Handy for the station too.
Liked the location, train station and a hospital in a walking distance.
The hotel is really in the center of the town. Train station is around the corner, and you have plenty of choices for restaurants. You may hear some noise from traffic in the evening, but became quite in the night. The hotel has nicely decorated living room with full of antiques. Also you can find a spacious garden on the back side with many sitting areas. Breakfast was simple but has enough things to try and with a good taste. I have to tell that the hotel owner is really taking care of the property. He is managing every single details and turned the place really friendly, nice, cozy, and welcoming.
Charmerende gammelt hotel, der dog er lidt lydt (derfor heller ikke topkarakter) men venligt og smilende personale samt hyggelige omgivelser
kept opening the door and woke us up since 9 am , had no idea why
Wanneer je het hotel binnen loopt, komt direct de tune van 'Tussen kunst en kitsch' in je op. De meubels, vazen, klokken allemaal in uitbundig barokke stijl; geweldig. De kamers zijn we oud, het bed is goed.
Hotel had lovely period decoration & ornate decor. Staff were friendly & room was clean would stay again. Restaurants seemed a bit sparse in the local area. Was all takeaways. Railway station in short walking distance. Parking is on street parking
Classic old hotel in the heart of old Aalst. Will stay again. Great location.
Nice hotel with good staff
Old world charm at its finest. The hotel is lovingly presented showing true TLC from the owner. Service is excellent and the rooms are spotlessly clean. An exceptional venue.
Used Aalst as a base for touring the towns of Ghent,Antwerp and the capital Brussels by train. Hotel is just across the square from the Station and was perfect. Car parking is secure and just around the corner at 10 Euros for a full day. Hotel is in an old historic building with period decor. The owner goes out of his way to make you welcome and has thought of nice touches like a kettle and drinks in the room and a fridge and even a plug adaptor for tourists from UK. In the 30 degree heat our room at the front did get hot but an air conditioner was supplied. Not possible to fit one due to planning regulations it seems. If we return, and we plan to, we will definitely book here again. There is an honesty bar and when I came to pay for a couple of beers the cost was waived.
Very kind family owned hotel. Beautiful decor and atmosphere. Close to town centre and great restaurants and close to train station. Enjoyed the breakfast.parking possible on the street or designated parking with 5 minutes walk
Pleasant stay, good location and nice breakfast. My room was not big but comfortable enough for a solo traveler. The interior of the room and the hotel in general were not my taste but that's a matter of taste. Very "old fashioned", could use some renovations. The owner was friendly and helpful. When I told him that the hairdryer and a lamp were broken, he had it fixed right away.
Nice hotel, classic style although maybe a bit old-fashioned. I had a clean room with modern toilet and shower inside, large flatscreen TV and airconditioning which was useful as it was Summer. Furniture could bear some modernizing. I had a room under the roof, so the view was a bit limited. I enjoyed the breakfast which was varied and plentiful (a far cry from Hotel De La Gare further down the street which originally belonged to the same owners but who preferred to sell it rather than restoring it). This hotel also has a sauna and hot tub which however I did not make use of. It is located far away enough from the railway station so I was not incommodated while sleeping. All in all, a satisfying one-night stay.
One night stay over in Aalst and this establishments ambiance and feel made it feel like a one night fling... Liked the setting, look and ambiance the hotel has when you enter. The place has been there foe ever and you feel like you are going back in time. Rooms are clean and spacious. Almost like going back to the old cowboy days..... quick one upstairs and back down to the bar... I liked the place, the wife felt she was just picked up... ha ha ha, stil a great place and close to the city centre.
We stayed at this lovely hotel with baroque interior for 3 nights and we couldn't have asked for more. The hotel is run by family business and you really feel the personal touch. The owner's aunt decorated the house with lots of unique baroque furniture pieces- with great dedication. We also totally recommend the breakfast.
I've stayed in the appartments of Station Hotel in June and I recommend. The rooms are spacious, classic and friendly. They have 1 kitchen, 1 spacious living room and 1 bathroom. The rooms are cleaned everyday, the wifi access is good. The only problem is that there no lift, so if you have many luggages, its a problem to go up stairs.. But in general it's a great place, well located near to the restaurants, bar clubs, post mail, and most important near to the station! It's defenitly a 4* and I recommend.
If you desire is to stay in a relaxing place, good breakfast, family atmosphere, clean room with a huge bed for a couple, beautiful antiques collected by the hotel owner, parking at a very good price, exactly between Ghent and Brussels, Good Carnival end of Feb, not too many tourists, and a very good price for all this, then this is a good place for it. We walked in the city during carnival and very safe place. Then next day we drove to Ghent, which we enjoyed very much without paying the expensive hotel of this city. We returned to the hotel to relax. Then left being very content with the town, the hotel, and the owner and his hospitality which one does not find very often today. I highly recommend it if you look for that I here mention. Finally drove to Brussels and enjoyed another day in this city. The hotel is 25-30 minutes in either direction to Ghent and Brussels.
It was really good arrangmnets for 2 Nights..Its reall nice hotel near aalst railway station.Hardly 2 min distance..Good road touch decent hotel for family or couples..Very reasonalble hotel..I will recommend anyone for stay..Also breakfast & Lunch was good.
Very nice hotel, baroque decorated, historic style Rooms are small, I stayed in the attic, but comfy and very clean. Bit noisy, i would add Breakfast is exactly enough, not less, not more with a bit of everything. Fresh squized orange juice is a plus and the bread with seeds is a must try Not talking about the guy from reception. Didnt ask his name, but very friendly and helpful!😊 So, if you like heavy decorated interiors, this is definitely your place😜
Station hotel in Aalst enjoys an excellent location. It is less than 100 meters from the train station and about 400 meters from the town centre ( main square with the magnificent cathedral and many outdoor coffee shops). The owners are extremely nice friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is excellent with many choices. The rooms have free WiFii , fridge, tea an coffe and A/C. Good value If I have to come to Aalst, I know where I would stay.
Grand 'fin de siècle' looks, grandmother approval. Out of this world interiors with a family history. Most people will find the interior decoration not their taste, but that is more than compensated by the friendly family welcome and helpfull staff. You'll find the rooms clean and comfortable, and a good bed to spend sweet dreaming nights. On one side you have the rail station in view, to the other side, it's a five minute walk to the centre of town. Restaurants and cafés, you will find plenty to choose from. For lunch, dinner or a drink. So, enjoy you stay!
Nice and clean room. Very close to station. Many small bars and restaurants nearby. Very friendly receptionist. Good but basic breakfast. Good wifi, very secure. Managed by a family. A nice place for spending a night.
Clean, comfortable and friendly. Nice breakfast and good location (central but quiet) The single room wasn't an overgrown broom cupboard but a decent sized room. Very kitsch, fake rococo interior in which I wouldn't want to live but it has its charm for a couple of nights. Indeed the photos of the deceased owners are a bit morbid as they're quite prominent but I didn't have a "funeral parlour" feeling. All in all a great family run little hotel!
We only stayed here for 1 night, on our way back to the ferry, but found this hotel very acceptable. We liked the secure garage parking very much which is on the opposite side of the road to the hotel (although it could be a problem when you first arrive if there isn't a parking space on the street, before you check in). You won't find a friendlier couple who seem to run this place, very helpful, nothing too much trouble for them. Don't go if you only like ultra modern, because this most definitely is not! It has some beautiful old/antique furniture, its like going into another world! Plenty of places to eat within easy walking distance.
