The la Verriere B&B is one, if not the most, beautiful facility we have stayed in and we are 76 years young. The staff, table d’hote dinner, and wine tasting room/experience were excellent. Would that the weather had cooperated to use the large (for a B&B!) infinity looking over a valley of grape vines with Mont Ventoux in the background. Unfortunately the outdoor jacuzzi was not working as we are very much hot tub people. I don’t even remember what I paid for the large excellent “Lavender Room@ but I don’t care. We’d stay there again in a minute. Thanks “JC” who was managing (and many other tasks) while we were there. And thank Louis for a fun wine tasting.
Merci
We loved our stay at La Verrière. It’s tucked away in a secluded area with absolutely breathtaking views. It's an ideal spot to unwind and disconnect. Getting there takes some effort, but it’s well worth it. The property is truly exceptional, and the dinners were outstanding - beautifully prepared and full of local flavor.
Absolute gem of a hotel with extraordinary staff that are attentive to every detail. Sublime location nestled in the hills. Wish I booked for several days. Chef’s table (book ahead) were you eat what the chef finds fresh and it was delicious. Slice of paradise. Would give more than 5* if I could!
The Villa is Fantastic and the Chef and staff all great and so good vegetarian no problem for my Wife and garlic allergy no problem for 2 friends. Able to adapt food for 9 month old and 15 month old so well they both now want their own Private Chef. All the staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble.
Amazing place!
There are hotels, and there is La Verriere! The desceiption online does not give ita due to the place. We stayed for 2 nights but could probbaly have stayed for a week and enjoy. The best word to describe La Verriere is 'impeccable'. It is located at the Chene Bleu winery at a 9th centiry priory. The hotel part of the estate offers a lovely garden, an infinity pool, a hot tub, and a small gym. There is also a summer kitchen with coffee, tea, some sweets and refrigirators. We bought our lunch at a market in the nearby Vaison la Romaine and had a picnic lunch by the pool. The breakfast had everything we wanted, and there is also a 4 course dinner available upon request which we enjoyed both evenings. The winery tour and a tasting are complimentary for guests. We even shipped some wine home. There is plenty of hiking and biking around. La Verriere is also a nice lauchpad to see other Cote du Rhone villages and wineries. Now, it is a little off the beaten path to get to, but we loved it and did not feel that the few extra minutes of driving to get to the place jmpacted us.
We came to Le Verriere for the view. Most people may only come here for the well-structured wine. We were happily inspired by both the wine and the view. This is not an average bed and breakfast. We found, instead, perfection and precision. Every facet of this renovated 1st millennium structure was amazing to behold. The modern accoutrement like the bed in the Lavande Suite was, bar none, the most comfortable bed my wife and I have ever slept on – I’d like to think our own carefully selected mattress is my favorite in the world, but that is no longer true. Everything about this visit was mind-bending. This was a last-minute selection due to bad weather in Chamonix – a fortunate allowance of shoulder season in Europe that we were able to procure a room. We were on holiday in the last week of April. I wanted a place in the hills above the Rhone River to enjoy a few nights of wine tasting in the many nearby famous wineries. A veteran of meta-analysis of online reviews, I quickly poured over the options in the Rhone Valley between Avignon and Lyon. I was searching for a well-received reasonably priced ‘room with a view’. We discovered that and more at Le Verriere. And we never made it to another winery. Chene Bleu was all we ever really needed. Prior experience in Tuscany had taught us the benefit of driving well off the beaten path – up and over – narrow mountain roads with rare and slow oncoming traffic – requiring careful negotiation in narrow passages. How very European. Love that... Once at the estate, we were warmly greeted by Marlene – a very knowledgeable and accommodating concierge who showed us to our amazing Lavande Suite overlooking the vineyards and the mountains to the south. She arranged for our dinner in their rustic amazingly renovated comfortable cave-like dining room – sublime. And gave us our first glass of their famous Rose. We met the very accommodating owner, Nicole – who warmly greeted us and showed us the house and grounds – telling us their stories of renovation and winemaking – with a focused objective to save the antiquity, make fine wine, share their experience with others, and provide a wonderment for the future. Truly inspiring and generous... The private chef for this estate prepared an amazing dinner for us on our first evening. So delicious that we quickly made plans for a second dinner for the 2nd night of our stay. The braised pork was perfect. My wife’s vegetarian and pescatarian dishes were wonderfully delicious. And time stopped as we enjoyed a 2007 vintage Abelard with our dinner – savored over two nights – it was so good. Nicole also shared a taste of an amazing 2004 that was beyond phenomenal. The desserts were similarly remarkable in their flavor and joy. Our dining experience here was the proper balance between service and privacy. The views from this property pairs well with the wine and food and very comfortable room. Vineyards to the south lead upward to the mountain behind them. Be sure to walk behind the chateau and winery to the tennis court and helipad on top of the hill to see the spectacular bucolic mountain views across the entire northern expanse. This is a visual feast in France. Cheers! Who knows, you may even unknowingly meet someone famous…
The location is so beautiful, quiet, nicely furnished, with a fantastic pool. We can warmly recommend these.
This was a spectacular and very memorable place to stay for our honeymoon – hidden away in the hills behind Crestet, it’s a beautifully appointed getaway and feels properly remote. The room was charming with lovely antique furnishings and very comfortable, and the friendly staff were welcoming and accommodating. The swimming pool and jacuzzi were also nice touches. Great breakfast too with handmade local produce. All in all a very special stay at La Verrière, thoroughly recommended.
Guy-Eric
A gem in the foothills of Mt Ventoux.
Three nights in June. A long winding road to get there, but worth the drive ! What a view, what a location ... and the whole "project" is a tribute to good taste. We had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Rolet - who gave us a warm welcome. Our room (Abeille) was superb, the pool is wonderful, lots of space and corners of privacy. In view of the access road, we decided to take advantage of the Table d'Hôtes ... what a delight. We happily decided to stay and have dinner there both other nights. The setting is exceptional, the food (chef Victor and Eric ... his sous-chef, discrete, humble ... very talented as well) was very good. The whole staff was great (Gregory took particularly good care of us - seemed to guess what our possible request was likely to be), Thibaut, Emma who gave an enthusiastic tasting and tour of the chai ... all of it perfect.
Incredible place. Wonderful location, wonderful ambience, wonderful food, wonderful service. It was really a perfect stay. One of the most special places we have ever stayed.
So very enjoyed the stay at this very cozy and yet very stylish hotel. Excellent dinner and breakfast, friendly and kind service…The winery next door offers great wine too! We would definitely want to stay again; next time more than one night…
La Verriere is a dreamy place. We visited at a perfect time inMid-October when the sun is slanting over the vines, the trees are turning gold, the grape harvest is coming in and the garden is still full of flowers and autumn vegetables. The fully restored ancient villa is comfortable and welcoming with beautifully decorated and luxurious rooms and suites surrounded by gardens and a stunning “infinity” pool. Our service from Gregory and Tibault was personal and friendly and they ensured every detail was perfect and our every need was met. The dining room in a great vaulted stone hall serves a sumptuous breakfast and dinner “table d’hôte” only if reserved. You really should reserve as driving around local villages at night is daunting and La Verriere provides a beautifully presented and delicious 3 course meal from local produce. The chef’s choice for us included fresh organic veggies from the garden and local meats and fish. Of course we also enjoyed the prize-winning Chene Bleu wine from their own vineyard with helpful pairing suggestions and tasting notes. We had a wonderful wine tour and tasting which is must. The vineyard is fully restored from ancient vines in a UNESCO “biosphere “ with a fully modern winery and Adrian was very knowledgeable. we had a crash course in winemaking. Otherwise what to do around LaVerriere except stroll around the gardens, visit the tiny village of Crestet, hike in the surrounding forests, and sun or swim at the pool. We didn’t want to leave. Perfect!
Beautiful spot. Great staff
Séjour merveilleux en pleine nature
This is definitely one the top 3 nicest places I ever stayed! Loved the aesthetics and beauty, noticed the thoughtfulness in every detail, cant wait to come back soon
Magnifique séjour dans un endroit de rêve.
There really is no words to describe the spirit of this place. You just need to visit — and go all out. Five starred dinner, wine, view, service, everything. And a warm, homey feeling on top of it all. Simply vacation at it’s best. We’re definitely coming back.
La Verriere/ Chene Bleu was operating under strictly observed restrictions but staff took great pains to minimize the inconvenience. We had the opportunity to visit every room, each nicely appointed with its distinctive character. The public areas are wonderful and offer great privacy even when the property operates at full capacity. The grounds, surrounding vineyard, and views are gorgeous and give the feeling of great seclusion. It is very important to follow access recommendations as only one access road is paved. The staff is very attentive and makes every effort to satisfy its guests. Chene Bleu is the winery on the estate, offering must-do winery tours and tastings, The estate produces first rate Rhone-style wines, primarily Sirah and Grenache, red, white and rose. We plan to rent the whole property next year for a family event. PLOMBAQUE
We visited the vineyard in 2019 and vowed we would return to stay at La Verriere and were lucky to do so for a couple of nights (wish it had been longer!) this summer. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited and after years of travel it feels like I’ve found the one place I want to visit again and again. The property, gardens, vineyard, setting and scenery are amazing. The accommodation and pool area is luxurious but totally in keeping with the area and history of the place. The wine is lovely! The food is fantastic! And the service from the team is perfect. I’m almost reluctant to post this as it’s like a secret I want to keep to myself but I promised the amazing staff and lovely owner that I would review it so I had to, haha! I think I’ve run out superlatives now. See you in 2021 Chene Bleu!
My husband and I spent three magical days at La Verriere. I rarely leave reviews but I couldn’t resist with this one. This seven room converted priory is one of a kind. A magnificent pool, a magical vineyard and well stocked comfortable rooms - it has everything you need for a three night stay. Every morning we woke up to a beautiful breakfast and every evening we were treated to a delicious three course made made of local ingredients by Victor - a real master chef. Wine and honey tours only added to the vivid and beautiful experience that the team at La Verriere helped to create. Highly recommend this hotel - amazing value, you will not regret it!
From the reception until the departure everything is done to let you feel that you are in your private house in an inaccessible location for the most of people. The location is magic but the service put an added value on it. When we have the chance to be told the story behind the birth of the vineyard and the resort, it becomes wonderland where we can forget all our trivial life. In addition the wine is fantastic.
La Verriere is a true hidden gem, nestled in the rolling hills of Provence. After driving up through the beautiful Crestet village we were greeted by the incredible and expansive views of the vineyards and valley below. Right in the middle of the idyllic setting is the estate, which is a stunningly restored 9th century Priory. The entire property is impeccably managed with a multitude of indoor and outdoor places to commingle as a group, or escape for some restful solitude. The blend of rustic vaults and medieval furnishings coupled with elegant hospitality makes this a venue and experience like no other. Guest privacy is paramount, and the staff were accommodating to our every need. The chefs were incredibly amenable to our vegan dietary requirements, and the food was incredible. With a large-scale vegetable garden right there on property the food couldn't be fresher. Chêne Bleu wine-made right there on the property-is some of the best wines we have ever tasted. Being both organic and biodynamic it is not only pleasing to the palate, but also to the planet. We are counting the days until our next visit!
OMG, like being in Heaven! After 5 days we were not ready to leave. Between the wonderful people who work at La Verriere, the amazing wines and the absolute beauty of the place, why would you ever want to leave. I learned about La Verriere and Chene Bleu wines when I heard Nicole Rolet's interview on the podcast GrapeRadio. If you are not already set to go, you will be after listening to that podcast and hearing Nicole passionately talk about building La Verriere and making her wines.
We were lucky: lucky for having found La Verriere by chance on Google, and lucky for having had the opportunity to book our stay in June. We didn't know exactly what to expect but when we got there it was clear that paradise was found! The property lies in a beautiful remote area, between some of the most idyllic places and villages of the Provence. The focus lies on the winery, but the holiday property, which has been renovated over years to transform it into a stylish ad genuine provencal mansion, is hard to be described in words. We were lucky to stay there for half of our stay completely for ourselves, and had the heartful and discrete service of Jean-Paul and Marie all for us. The two made us feel at home, but at a very luxury home. Not a detail has been missed in our suite nor at the stunning pool. We enjoyed their great wines, strolls through the property, sunbathing at the pool, visiting nearby places, relaxing in the many beautiful corners around the mansion. We had our little 1.5 year old son with us and he enjoyed it as much as we did. The pool has a very kid-friendly corner, the playground is discretely placed in the nearby forested area, the hosts were nicely caring. Never did we have an awkward moment for having brought a child to such a luxury place. Food was on a very high level, we very much enjoyed our candle light dinners out on the terrace. It was not only very delicious but also beautifully presented! Unfortunately we only spent 5 days at this nice place but defintely plan to come back. Highly recommended for those who seek privacy, a peaceful setting, calm days out in nature.
a few days outside the world, surrounded by beauty, nature and the song of the cigales, still able to visit Vaison la Romaine, Avignon, etc... service is top, prefect, discreet, attentive, and generous, the restoration is magnificent, a place to go, if you can, and if you can afford.
Whether you are interested in wine or just like the idea of taking a break from touring the Provence, this wine estate will amaze and enchant you all the way. While you can visit for only a wine tour and tasting, with lunch if you book a visit for mid-day, we took it a step further and stayed for two nights in the beautifully restored estate, whose origin dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was a priory. Tucked away on a secluded plateau, below a mountain ridge, about an hour's drive north of Avignon, outside the village of Crestet, you may wonder at first if your GPS is guiding you to the right place - until the view reveals the estate in the distance. With only 7 delightful rooms, decorated in lovely Provençal style, you are virtually guaranteed an intimate experience. You can book a room just on a B&B basis, or add additional meals to your booking. We had lunch as part of the wine tour and tasting and dinner prepared by the chef the next day. For other meals we visited nearby villages. The setting of La Verrière is simply spectacular. You are surrounded by vineyards, forests and a mountain ridge. The estate is maintained with impeccable care and shows the owners' passion for the environment and respect for the origin of the estate. Don't miss the wine tour! Our very knowledgeable guide Bryan took us to the vineyard and the cellar, before tasting the high-quality wines. The entire staff took excellent care of us, especially Jean-Paul, who took meticulous are of all our needs, and Victor, the internationally experienced chef who prepared a fabulous dinner for us, all with local ingredients. We had the pleasure of meeting also Nicole, one of the owners. She and her husband had acquired the property back in the 90's and restored and revitalized it over a 10-year period. The absolute stillness of the place, the gorgeous views, and the incredible night sky will remain unforgettable memories. By the way, our stay followed a busy time for the estate, having just completed one of their high-level and internationally recognized one-week wine courses. Extreme Wine Experience is the official name of the course, which is in effect a wine boot-camp. This may be too intense for us, but we intend to return for a few days of total relaxation as soon as possible.
