Chelsea House Bed & Breakfast

Hosts were awesome. So invested in you enjoying your time, lovely welcoming people

Nothing, it was beautiful

Beautiful home in handy location with exceptional facilities and very friendly hosts. We felt very welcome and well looked after. We would definitely stay here again.

Quiet, cute, inviting, the many details, thoughtfulness and added amenities to make the stay, delicious breakfast

Exceptionally comfortable and well appointed rooms. Jennie is the warmest host and made our stay extra special. Especially loved the breakfast, and how thoughtful this property has been laid out. Highly recommend!

Cudowna rodzinna atmosfera. Przemili właściciele

Wszystko mi się podobało

Beautiful property. Great room. The hosts where very accomodating and helpfull.

Sehr schönes und sauberes Zimmer mit leckerem Frühstück. Die Besitzerin ist zudem sehr nett und gibt gerne Tipps für die Reise.

Einziger Minuspunkt: die Strasse ist am Morgen hörbar.

Location and the special care.

Lovely breakfast provided, the Gruyere cheese was especially appreciated!

Fabulous accommodation with beautiful touches. Very comfortable bed, our room had a kitchenette seperate with everything we could need to cook meals. Host supplied a lovely breakfast with plenty of options. Little extras like fresh fruit and banana bread were appreciated. Chelsea House is in an excellent spot to easily get into Whangarei or any of the local areas. While there were others staying the same time the rooms are peaceful and quiet and we didn’t hear anyone moving around.

As a historic house the plumbing leaves a bit to be desired.

The property was very clean and very homely and warm

Dream stay in a place I admired since childhood. Peaceful, personal, and perfect in every way.

Our room had a small kitchen and choices of breakfast were available, including a fridge full of food. We were told to ask for replacements as needed. We liked the privacy and independence of this arrangement. Jennie and Tony were very welcoming and also informative about the area.

Excellent facilities, comfortable bed, good location, awesome hosts.

Some road noise

Being dropped off and picked up! Great breakfast options.

This accomodation is very cozy and makes you feel good. Very friendly hosts with attention to detail. The breakfast was very good and fresh.

The house is lovely. We were greeted warmly - and with homemade banana bread! Our room had a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was well equipped and spotlessly clean. Our hosts were fantastic - lots of great ideas about things to do in the area.

Jennie is an exceptional host who went above and beyond to ensure we had a good stay, and even shared many great travel tips for our onward journey.

Road noise from the front bedroom, however ear plugs were provided.

Everything. Hostess Jenne helped with directions, maps, suggestions to make the most of my time andd comfort. She is the perfect hostess for visitors.

Not a thing.

Beautiful home and surrounds. Our king room had a separate kitchen area where our breakfast items were available in a space where windows opened to the fresh cool mornings. The stay in this B&B was so pleasant - but it was especially outstanding in service. Knowing we were dependent on public transportation in a city where it is scarce, host Jennie offered to provide transport “home” from the airport & from dinners in the center as well as a bit of sightseeing (waterfall & canopy) that we would have otherwise missed. She’s a rock star host! Importantly, there are hiking paths nearby that lead to both downtown and into the hills. Gorgeous. We walked into town for dinners and visits to the fabulous Hundertwasser Arts Center and the fascinating clock installation nearby.

Other reviewers have complained about the traffic noise. It is a busy road in front, but it is quiet at night. As an early morning person, the noise was not a problem. Nor was it a problem for my mate, who slept in and never heard a thing.

I would just like to Thank Jennie for being a super host whilst we stayed in their boutique immaculate accommodation. Thank you for all the food and home made banana bread and scones which were to die for. We had a fab time William and Malcolm

The hosts are lovely and personable. Getting a taxi is difficult in Whangarei so they even took me to the airport! Amazing service.

Nothing.

Everything was perfect! The room is beautifully decorated and spacious, the kitchen is well equipped and lovely breakfast options are provided (toast, croissants, fruit salad, ham, cheese, jams and more). The bathroom and overall place is spotless, the bed super comfortable and there are chairs on the veranda and garden to hang out outside in the sun. Jennie and Tony are amazing hosts, Jennie gave us tons of tips and took her time to „walk“ us through NZ and the Whangarei area with several maps. They are extremely friendly and forthcoming, the place feels more like a home than a guesthouse.

The shower head is not adjustable so a bit tricky for taller people to shower. But there is a seat in the shower that comes in handy

Very friendly, beautiful house, great stay

Breakfast was awesome Location was great Host couple were very friendly

For me everything was prefect

Jennie is a lovely and caring host

This was a fantastic stay. Fabulous hosts and their attention to detail was over and above.

There is nothing not to like. You’re made to feel welcome the moment you walk through the door.

The host thought of everything to make our stay pleasurable, absolutely first class, we would highly recommend this facility to anyone.

Nothing.

A lot of care had gone into insuring the guess has everything you need. Beautiful room with own ensuite. Hosts were very help, gave advice on lovely local resturant even phoned & reserved booking for us. We were able to walk to resturant, with take aways available in same shopping strip. Jennie & Tony were friendly hosts who made you feel very welcome. Good, secure parking on site.

Friendly and gracious hosts, beautiful outlook to a garden. Handy location with access to multiple great bush walks through Whangarei.

The hosts were very welcoming. The bed was extremely comfortable.

Every little need met, quietish location, close to town, lovingly looked after villa, accomodating and informative hosts. Comfortable bed.

Jennie and Tony were kind and generous hosts. Jennie shared so many tips for where to go locally and across Northlands. Our room had a little kitchen and sitting area which made it better than most B and Bs. The shower was hot and strong. The bed was comfortable.

Muffled traffic noise from road was only downside to our stay. Otherwise, it was perfect. Definitely recommended

A fabulous stay in a beautifully appointed room Everything was provided to make our stay special Jennie & Tony are wonderful hosts who make sure their guests are comfortable.Jennie has a wealth of information about walks, places of interest etc

Traffic can be a little noisy but not a problem once peak traffic into town finished

Total pleasure to stay in this beautiful 110+ yr old Kauri Villa

The only Down side is that we could only stay one night

A really great and beautiful B&B with all necessary stuff you might need. The hosts were super-kind, they also gave us very useful suggestions for activities. The breakfast contents were discussed before our arrival. The room had clear instructions for almost everything that we might use.

Whangarei is a small town - you should keep in mind that most of the places to have a dinner close pretty early, and you are at least half an hour away from the town center if you prefer to walk.

Jennie was an amazing host! The air b n b is beautiful and her hospitality is second to none. If you’re thinking about staying in this area I don’t think you’ll find a better welcome. The breakfast is also so plentiful and Jennie makes so much of an effort to make guests feel welcome and have a good stay.

Super clean, spacious, amazing breakfast, hosts were very friendly!!

The most charming place with a great sense for detail we have ever been. Lovely and extremely helpful hosts! It felt somehow like coming home.

Excellent basic delicious breakfast. Awesome coffee. Nice table and place settings to enjoy it. Jennie will even fix it “to go” for you if you have an early morning tour. Jennie and Tony are the perfect combination of friendly, helpful, accommodating while giving you privacy when desired. My father passed away while I was there and they were so generously compassionate, forgiving and understanding my lack of participation in their delightful story telling. I really can’t think of a better place to have been at that time. They also have gorgeous art and gardens to enjoy.

Everything was perfect!

It was 5 star, the hosts were fabulous and made us feel very welcome and comfortable.

Interaction and knowledge of hosts. The location was perfect. The facility was clean, warm and comfortable. Will absolutely stay over again in future.

Jennie and Tony absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable, which is what make this trip memorable. But also what a wonderful night sleep on that bed. I am fussy about getting a good night sleep and they nailed it

Nothing

Jennie and Tony were wonderful hosts and we were given lots of information of what to do and see in the town as well as maps to take with us on the trip up north. Out room was warm and beautiful and I had the best sleep in weeks. Maggie

I can’t think of anything that we would have wished for!

New Zealand's unexpected (at least for me) rain showers

Very comfortable, well appointed room with handy private kitchenette/lounge in beautiful heritage building. Warm and kind hosts Jennie & Tony made me very welcome, ensuring l had everything l needed during my stay.

Hosts were exceptional. Safe, secure and comfortable. Extra’s like fresh eggs, baking, fruit salad were just fantastic. The kitchenette was a bonus as could cook for myself, and have a sense of privacy too as an option which was great. Thank you ☺️

Hosts were very attentive to our needs

Our hosts were super hospitable, super friendly and super helpful. We were welcomed into their beautiful villa and made to feel very special indeed. The accommodation was superb, breakfast was fabulous (eg. freshly squeezed orange juice, fruit salad made with fresh fruit and toast with homemade jams. Highly recommended.

Jennie and Tony welcomed me into their warm and comfortable home and made me feel really comfortable and relaxed. Their home exudes all of the above and is immaculate.Jennie prepares Breakfast with special extras and gifts her attention to you without being intrusive. I left my lunch behind and Jennie delivered it to me without complaint I will come back. Highly recommended.

Cracking breakfast. Great variety.

Only negative was the noise from the main road, but that didn't really bother us.

The hosts were super kind and gave plenty of tips on where to go and what to see. We really enjoyed the conversations and aprreciated the help. We had a lovely stay and enjoyed the room and house, we were taken care of so wonderfully. The stay felt more like visting long time friends than meeting strangers. Would highly recommend staying here to anyone in the area. :)

Although it was in someone’s home the bedroom set up was fully functional to be seperate from the host house. Well set up in the kitchenette with ample supplies for my two day’s breakfast supplied. Lovely host’s with plenty of information to help with my stay and further travels.

The place was so charming and the hosts were fabulous. The entire 2 stays were delightful.

Great and passionated host Home feeling atmosphere Great breakfast Perfect stay

The most wonderful stay! Jennie is a fantastic host. The room was incredibly clean, and breakfast was perfect. Loved the walk into town that Jennie detailed for me as well. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The beautiful Kauri villa is in the heart of Whangarei easy to find and close to lots of amenities. Our room was spacious with en suite and small kitchenette, complete with continental breakfast. The house felt very welcoming Ana relaxed, and Jenni and Tony were exceptional hosts providing valuable information about the best things to see and do, and places to eat.

The only small downside is road noise, however, this is not continuous and does quieten at night.

absolutely everything was tops. hosts Jenny and Tony went out of their way to look after us, including travel tips and destination advice beyond their own region. the breakfast was yummy and included home made gf goodies for me! we were reluctant to leave.
