The villa was better than we thought, better than our expectations, its location on the river bank was amazing, and the facilities inside the villa were better than we thought, the attitude of the staff was very good, very cooperative, friendly, Manager FATIMAH and owner of property they were very friendly. the value for money, the food was all amazing. These are honest reviews I love to come back again.

The cabin on the boat is excellent. Lets you have a mini-yacht like experience at regular prices. You get a view of the serenely flowing Bentota river and densely tree-lined river banks. The river bends a lot so your view is better than that of a typical river. The room itself (cabin on the boat), is very clean , neat and tasetefully designed.

Nothing to complain about. Great value at this price point.

Stunning Location

Néed to improve on maintaining cleanliness.

The location and tranquility of the river as well as the well designed garden landscape. The staff was very helpful and the management speaks good German if needed.

Pool needed some more chlorine, a fan on the river boat terrace would be good as it gets quite hot and the wind is not getting there.

Дружелюбный персонал. Оперативно откликались на наши просьбы. Отдельное спасибо менеджеру Sabir, который всегда был на связи и молниеносно решал любые вопросы. Восхитительный вид на озеро. Милые лабрадоры Бинго и Симба. Белочки бегают в большом количестве, интересно за ними наблюдать. В номере чисто, хороший кондиционер и вентилятор. Бесплатная вода на всё время прибывания. Отель рекомендуем!

Наша душевая была с открытым потолком и выходила на улицу, поэтому вечерами в душевую заползали большие тараканы, для тех кто боится подобную живность, лучше выбрать номер с закрытым душем. Завтраки для нас оказались несколько скудными, мы были немного голодными, но поблизости есть кафе или можно заказать еду через приложения. При заселении, представляли вид на реку, но по факту наш дом стоял отдалено от неё..

I had such a wonderful stay at River View Villas. The location is absolutely beautiful calm, peaceful, and surrounded by a stunning river view that makes it truly relaxing. The food was excellent. Even though it is an Ayurvedic resort, they were very accommodating and happy to prepare dishes according to my request. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and attentive throughout my stay. Overall, it was a memorable and relaxing experience, and I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

Aruvedic center,no menu,no coffee house,no restaurant,all vegetarian food. No room coffee.Lunch not served.A waste of time to stay there if not having aruvedic treatments.Very expensive treatments geared for tourists.Very basic breakfast.

The hotel was overpriced for what it offered. The booked boat cabin was downgraded to a room. Facilities were partially poorly maintained, rooms lacked amenities and housekeeping, and service communication was minimal.

The entire experience was exceptional. The location and setting were absolutely stunning, and the luxury of the accommodation throughout the resort was outstanding. The staff were warm, friendly, and incredibly welcoming, making the stay feel truly special. The treatments were of an excellent standard, and even the resident dogs, Simba and Bingo, added a lovely personal touch to the experience. They also created beautiful birthday decorations in the room for my girlfriend, which made the entire stay feel even more special and wonderfully personalised.

Honestly, there was nothing we didn’t like , everything was absolutely perfect.

Beautifully peaceful on the river, very quiet and lovely staff. Great room and two pools! Also an outdoor shower which was fun. A lovely start to our trip in Sri Lanka. Plus we saw lots of monkeys in the early evening.

It’s a little set back from the nearest restaurants and beach but as we were staying to get over jet lag we weren’t too bothered and easy to get Tuk tuks around.

Excellent breakfast served in a superb location. Laundry service within 24 hrs & reasonably priced.

There seemed to be a problem with the sewerage system, slight smell noted in the bathroom.

The river view breakfast was exceptionally great. Kids enjoyed the lawn very much.

There should be someone cautioning about the closeness to river as there is no barricade. Kids may run towards it in enjoyment!

This hotel is in a dreamlike location by the lake — quiet, calm, and incredibly beautiful. The staff were very kind, everything was perfectly clean, and the four-poster bed felt absolutely magical. I loved staying here.

Unique location on the river!

The room was tidy, but the whole River Boat was already a bit shabby... There is need for renovation.

Personeel was heel aardig, bed lag lekker. Het is er heel rustig. We hebben een boottour gevraagd die werd binnen het uur geregeld waar we een alligator hebben gezien. We hadden de kamer op een boot met jacuzzi.

De airco was of heel koud of warm. Er was geen waaier. Je kon er wel eten maar je kon niet kiezen

Das Hotel liegt am Ende einer kleinen Gasse. Die Anlage mit Blick auf den See ist an sich wirklich sehr schön gestaltet und wirkt sehr idyllisch. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, wem es wichtig ist: einige sprechen hervorragendes deutsch.

Es wäre ein erholsamer Aufenthalt gewesen, wenn nicht die ganze Zeit, jemand geschweißt, gebohrt oder gesägt hätte. Ich hatte diese Anlage gewählt, weil sie so ruhig auf mich wirkte anhand der Bilder. Das war schon dezent störend zwischendurch. Die Zimmer sind auch leicht in die Jahre gekommen, die Betten sehr hart und den Geruch im Bad möchte ich gar nicht erst beschreiben…

Gardens are good. Very greenery and Orchids are very well maintained. Very good property to spend with family. Wifi was good and very good speed. Good Indian Breakfast (Dosa and Vada with Sambar and Coconut Sambol).

Absolutely fantastic stay! The place is spotlessly clean, and the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming. The staff are not only friendly but also extremely helpful, going above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great experience!

the room was a bit outdated . cheap quality towels, bedmatras not comfortable, tap bathroom not solide, toiletpaper holder broken. Dargha town is Muslim, so nuisance from Mosques

The staff, the food, the property....all invite you to relax. The view of the lake in the morning....calm, peace... So it was really a place to come out of your mind and into your senses....excellent food....I didn't know that one can cook with such variety vegetarian food...and above all it tasted sooo good. Boat trip through the Mangrove forest...some sightseeing....sunsets...a Crocodile did some sunbathing on the rocks....don't worry it was far away....the staff always give you a hand...Roy the magician, Insaf and his father Ilyas. As I asked for a room with river view they gave me a room in the villa without extra pay. Once in awhile I had a head, neck shoulder massage...couldn't get enough of it... So all in all a very relaxed and pleasant experience....No wonder I stayed for two weeks...

I loved my stay here. Their staff are so well trained, very polite, helpful and considerate. They will make sure to check on you. The food is nice. The view is amazing - right on the bank of the river, lots of birds, squirrels, trees and a friendly dog. They also have Ayurvedic and other herbal treatments with dedicated staff on site. They were all reasonably priced. The rooms are spacious and clean. It's a great place for a restful weekend getaway.

I couldn't wish for more. The location is beautiful. The complex is big with nice green areas, pools and gazebos. There is a buffet serving ayurvedic food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (not included in the price but quite cheap), and an Ayurvedic treatment center (not so cheap but very good). Every morning there's yoga on the terrace, free to join. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. I rented a bike and got a SIM card via the hotel manager in a matter of an hour after the check-in. All in all, my stay was very smooth and absolutely lovely.

Since it's a river location, there are mosquitoes. They burn the repellent spirals all around the grounds regularly, but you still need extra protection. Also, the shower in my room was not super stable in terms of water pressure. But all of that did not spoil my stay, I highly recommend the River View Villas for a nice relaxing vacation.

River View Villas is run by a family that really knows how to provide a holistic hospitality to their guests! We had booked a room that turned out to not be suitable for my mother due to mobility issues. They were fully booked but ensured we would be comfortable in alternate accommodation. Mr. Ilyas and Insaf are always present ensuring their guests have the most relaxed experience and the property is beautiful to boot! We also got great massages!

They create an incredibly positive vibe and recharge you with energy every single day. The rooms are a delight. Everything is very clean, modern, and cozy. The territory, although not large, is very green and well-maintained, with a beautiful garden. I especially enjoyed the two fantastic pools and the stunning, peaceful view of the river. And of course, the food! It’s not just delicious but also healthy – the perfect combination for a rejuvenating stay, leaving you feeling energized and refreshed. Special mention goes to the Ayurveda center on the hotel grounds – I am absolutely thrilled with it! The super professional team worked with me from morning till evening. I went through all the services listed on their website, and in just nine days, they healed my neck, cured my insomnia, and restored my energy and strength. It was an incredible experience, spending time in complete silence without a phone. This place has left me with the warmest impressions, and I will definitely come back again!

The superior rooms matched the photos: they were spacious, clean, with balconies offering lovely views of the river and the beautifully maintained courtyard. The owner initially tried to make up for the booking issue by offering free breakfast and ensuring we could move into the superior rooms we booked on the second day. For the first night, we were upgraded to the more expensive rooms on the boat, which were clean and comfortable, with hot water. The owner was attentive during our stay, recommending local attractions and even driving us to a few places. The staff was professional, friendly, and well-trained.

Initial Room Issue When we arrived, the superior rooms we had booked were unavailable. Instead, we were offered standard rooms, which fell short of our expectations—outdated furniture and mosquitos (the owner promised to install nets). Dissatisfied, we declined these rooms and were eventually upgraded to more expensive boat rooms for the first night, which were much better. However, the inconvenience of not receiving what we initially booked was frustrating. Unauthorized Room Change The most upsetting issue occurred on New Year’s Eve when the staff relocated us from our superior room to another room without our consent. While we were away, they packed up all our belongings and moved them to a smaller room with no balcony and dirty walls, citing that another couple, unhappy with their superior room, needed to be accommodated. We were told the decision was made because we were leaving the next day. This act violated our privacy and trust. Handling a guest’s belongings without consent is entirely unacceptable, and prioritizing other guests at our expense left us feeling undervalued. No explanation could justify this treatment in a professional setting. Lost Laundry Item To make matters worse, a shirt went missing during their laundry service and was never recovered. Although the owner attempted to rectify the situation by waiving laundry fees and offering discounts, these gestures did not outweigh the frustration caused by the unauthorized room change and mishandling of our belongings, leaving us with a disappointing overall impression despite the positive aspects of our stay.

This is the best hotel to stay for a vacation. The staff are really kind and helpful. They are always ready to help us. We received the amazing service from the hotel. Very nice pool. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. Everything was same as the pictures. Breakfast and dinner was so good. Specially dinner. They prepared it accordingly to our wish. The person who talked with me was so nice, so kind. He s name is Insaf. He is a great guy. He made my trip so easy. I really appreciate his effort. Other than that remaining staff are so kind. We received great service. I highly recommend this hotel for people who is looking for peaceful evenironme and excellent service.
