Value for money
Stayed in a single room for 2x nights, clean, quiet, basic facilities. Private bathroom with shower and everything worked well. Good kitchen facilities microwaves / toaster / air fryer / tea & coffee provided etc. Lovely location, small village shop just next door. Parking right outside, EV charging and secure storage for bicycles.
Simple coukd park car shop nearby comfortably bed
No value for money
We stopped in Creetown en route to catch the ferry at Cairnryan. It is a nice, hostel-style accommodation. No frills but clean and in a nice area.
There are limited food and drink options nearby; it is a good idea to book ahead for dinner.
Very clean and tidy and the owner friendly and helpful. Great location for getting out and about and good dog walks close.
Nothing
We had a fantastic 2 night stay Panny was a great host, helpful and quick to reply to my query about local dining The location is beautiful and quiet, the accommodation super clean and comfy, and very well equipped

We've stayed at Barholm several times and we had a private ground floor room which is great for the dogs as it's straight on to an outdoor space. The room was spacious, clean, peaceful and comfortable and has basic essentials in the room for making coffee.
Cosy room, clean bathroom. Easy instructions to access.
The crazy amount of stairs i wasn’t aware of. Unfortunately no pub or restaurant in easy walking distance.
Ease of access and location
Very clean and well run accommodation
It was good location between places and local fuel station was cheap. Room was basic all you need bed and place to freshen up if you had food there was kitchen to use with some stuff free to use or 13mins drive to supermarkets
Couldn’t think of anything really
Great for overnight stay en route to ferry terminal in Cairnryan.
Clear check-in instructions, kitchenette facilities, lovely location and friendly neighbourhood.
Having a lot of stairs to my room
Posizione comoda, fornita di parcheggio auto. Possibilità di poter soggiornare col cane.
Great value for the area, very comfy bed, clean room and good views especially the Sunset.
No tea and coffee making in room, was available free in Kitchen but we were on top floor, two flights up
Basic and very good place. Enjoyed our stay.
If you.want a sea view and easy access to coast this is not the place for you but its a nice place.
Good communication from staff. Made use of communal outdoor space and kitchen. Comfy beds.

Cheap room, plenty to do locally, friendly team
Small car park but on street parking is available. No hob or oven in shared kitchen area
Excellent location, close to everything we wanted to see in the area. Very clean and great value for money. Excellent set up with communal spaces, very practical for longer term stays.
The room I stayed in had a nice view
single bed springy
Great staff, very welcoming. A solid hostel with a good kitchen and sitting room
Propriétaire flexible
Conveniently located for the Wigtown Show. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Great communication from the owner. Access to a full kitchen and sitting area. Clean room and comfy bed. TV wouldn’t switch on but wasn’t really an issue for the 1 night
The place was comfortable and had everything I needed for my solo trip. The bed was comfortable, I had a nice view, and en-suite bathroom, and I liked the kitchen facilities to make my own snacks/meals. The town is quiet and has a really cool gemstone museum with a nice cafe. Fuel in the town is cheaper than anywhere around too. My stay was good value for money.
I stayed 3 nights, and the first was a bit noisy. This was mostly due to an inconsiderate guest banging about getting ready to leave at 4am. But also partly due to the fact it's an old building split into a lot of rooms which gives the potential for creaky floorboards and slamming doors. I had no issues sleeping the 2nd and 3rd night though and would stay again. The other thing guests should be aware of is there's not a lot in the town to do or places to go to eat unless you have a car. The public transport to nearby town is not great! If you have a car though, it's a great base to explore from.
Amazing value for money. Free tea and coffee with milk and a really well equipped kitchen. Had a great sleep! I arrived after reception closed, so got a text with everything I needed to know. Would stay again.
very good. I like the kitchen.
Not many restaurants nearby
Such a nice wee place for a one night stay. Kitchen for breakast and tea making ensuite very comfy bed and a fantastic view from the 2nd floor of the Solway Firth on a glorious summers evening
Le parking, le pub en bas
La vue depuis la fenêtre, le lit trop mou qui grince...
Amazing value for money and exceptionally clean.
Nothing to not like. Were only there from 11pm until 9am. Had a great sleep.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room nice and clean and the area beautiful.
Only slight issue was location…gorgeous place but not a great deal for grumpy teenagers 😆
I liked the location and the welcoming staff. The receptionist was just fantastic.
Very clean, value for money, host very helpful.
Stairway very creeky at higher levels and made me very conscious that i may disturb other peoples sleep when returning late but other than that, impeccable
We liked the ease of entering the property with a code and key waiting in the door. The beds were very comfortable and spacious, even with 2 bunks and a king size bed! The decor was aesthetically pleasing. Our stay was very convenient to see family within the village. The cost per night was very good, it has made us look into coming back to stay for a 3 night stay in a month's time. The kitchen and sitting area was well stocked. Fantastic views from our bedroom.
A fan in the room would have been a welcome addition, especially in the heat lately, and a slimline cabinet to store a few clothes would have been great. There was a few clothes hooks and a bedside table.
Great place to stay. Really well organised kitchen with everything you could need.
Perfect for self catering.
A really wonderful little hotel. Very comfortable indeed, with a great double bed. Our dog really enjoyed her stay too!
Good all round
Very clean Staff are friendly
Spacious room, clean en suite, great facilities for touring cyclists.
Nothing
Excellent value
good location, near main road , petrol station nearby, big, clean kitchen with plenty utensils
Good value and location, in the heart of the village
The room was a little cramped with no seating other than the beds
The town is lovely.
Noisy. Aggressive customers and staff.
Great location for my needs, lovely staff, nice seating area for eating and full kitchen use, parking out back.
Mattress was a bit lumpy and thin.
No , breakfast , accomodation was on my cycling route .
One of the best hostels I've had the pleasure to stay, if not the best.
Nothing, everything is great.
Everything! From the minute we arrived to the minute we left. Our room was perfect with the added bonus of having a small fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle and air fryer. The bed was extremely comfy. Lovely big hot shower.

Friendly staff and clean area.
All perfect.
Well located, simple accommodation, clean.

Perfect for our family of five wanting a budget place to stay...so clean, brilliant location for beaches, hills and forest. We stayed 4 nights but could have stayed much longer. Beautiful forest walk behind the accommodation :)
There was nothing we didn't like!
Perfectly clean and well-maintained in every detail. A truly lovely place to stay. The room was comfortable, the atmosphere welcoming, and the overall experience so pleasant that I almost didn't want to check out. Would definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stay.
The only downside is that nearby options close early in the evening, but I came prepared and it did not affect my stay.
The staff were very welcoming. The premises were clean and all the basics were provided. We had a lovely sea view and we were shown the guest kitchen facilities and lounge area before being escorted to our room.

We traveled there to do a cycling race in gatehouse and the accommodation suited us perfectly, It was quiet and clean, it had a kitchen (no cooker) with microwave, kettle, fridge, air fryer, slow cooker. perfect place for us.
Its a very quiet little area with one very small village shop, I couldn't see anywhere you could get a restraint or any where you might be able to get a meal.
The upgrade to a double bed
The mattress could have been more supportive
Clean and comfortable. Nice view. Bed was nice. Downstairs shared kitchen was lovely and nice people to chat to.
Nothing,
Great value for money
Very welcoming. Clear instructions if arriving late. Lovely and warm.
Nothing everything was excellent
Lovely accommodation, Very clean & easy to find. Very helpful & friendly hosts.
Peacefulness cleanliness good comms and lovely helpful staff
nothing to report
The accommodation was simple but clean and secure. The staff member I met was very helpful and found a secure room for my bike, existing facilities being full on the day. For someone looking for very good value, clean self catered accommodation I'd certainly recommend the premises.
Nothing.
I have stayed at Barholm before. Very nice, quiet and clean with well equipped kitchen.
Could only get lukewarm water in shower
Staff are very helpful and lovely people 😊

Clean, friendly, basic but adequate for our needs.
Very nice rooms. Good shared kitchen.
Price reasonable
Lots of information about food places and great value for stays
It was very clean, cosy with a good sized room, TV, and good hot, compact shower in the ensuite. Overall good value.
The soundproofing could be improved as we could clearly hear the couple in the room above singing, talking, arguing and pacing until the wee small hours. The kitchen was clean with plenty of storage, fridges, kettles, toasters, microwaves and an air fryer, but a simple electric hob would have been invaluable for cooking pasta or rice for my kids.
Staff were very understanding of my predicament at the time, much appreciated.
All good
Clean easy access
Heating radiator didn't work
Very good value. Great to have kitchen access and covered bike storage.
Very good location to explore the within peninsula as well as Sustrans route 7 routes across Galloway. Very comfortable and quiet location just off the A75. This my fourth stay.
Only daylight lighting in the kitchen cooking area.
Very nice and quite
Every things was ok
Excellent value for money, room was a good size. Well fitted out kitchen facilities
Hot water pressure was very low in the ensuite bathroom
comfy bed - not hard to find access to kitchen for tea coffee and space to sit and eat if you wished remote access - while i didnt arrive in the middle of the night - i arrived later than planned so good that didnt have anyone waiting for me
the stairs didnt know at the time of booking but if youre on the 2nd or 3rd floor theres quite a few stairs and a bit steep also at the entrance round the back theres some stone steps down to the door
Clean tidy and comfortable
Great view, very quiet and serene, good shared kitchen and appliances provided.
Low ceilings, which made the room feel smaller. The bed was really uncomfortable.
Clean, nice and good facilities
Kitchen facilities were a bonus.
The amount of dog s**t around the car park. Absolutely ridiculous, apparently it’s a dog waking area. But the amount that was there in the morning around my car was ridiculous. The ceilings were also considerably low, low door frames and lights. If you are 6ft 2 plus you need to keep your head down. The shower also needs new sealant, it was covered in stained marks.
Quiet village location with off-street parking. Check in was easy and communication with host re door code etc was good. Kitchen is well equipped with fridge freezer, kettles, toasters, microwaves and air fryer. Lots of information about local facilities, restaurants etc was provided
Nothing. We enjoyed our stay at Barrholm
Very spacious accommodation, nice touch that towels provided and en-suite toilet and shower made a huge difference. Kitchen area was great and we were able to cook our evening meal in the air fryer. Very quiet location and a good base for days activities in the local area. We particularly enjoyed the gem rock museum in the village!
Great price, easy check in, spotlessly clean 10/10
Friendly staff, clean comfortable room, well-equipped kitchen
Nothing
Very clean accomodation on ground floor very convenient if going from or to the ferry at cairnryan
Very reasonably priced, very clean and comfortable.
