Well kept waterfront apartments, friendly hosts, great restaurant/bar next door, would definitely stay again if coming to the area

Our last night on the peninsula was spent in the imposing Seaside Motel in Duvauchelle overlooking the beach at the head of Duvauchelle Bay. Our balcony on the second floor faced south looking the length of the bay. A full moon rose above the surrounding hills later that evening and eventually bathed the entire bay in sharp bright light - an unreal image of shadows and light. The setting was spectacular in a country world famous for its natural beauty/scenery wherever you travel in the islands. We enjoyed our final evening meal of the holiday en famille in Akaroa and headed for Duvauchelle to check in – 8km/10-15 min run. The motel is to the left/bayside of the small township of Duvauchelle on the Christchurch side – just before the road climbs the steep incline from the bay. The motel comprises two large, separate, two-story buildings – the one with windows in the roof. The motel has a large road-side sign in case you missed things. Take the road entrance into the car park at the rear and there to one side, is the small glass-fronted office – the one with the friendly woman concierge that checked us in that evening. Our group comprised two families – with separate bookings – each of which were allocated a suite of rooms – two couples one of which had three little kids. The extent of the space available within the suite of rooms was a welcome surprise - large living/dining/kitchen composite room and an ensuite bedroom. The separate balcony stretched along the length of the external wall access from the living room. The suites were well-equipped sufficient facilities with which to cater food for preparation/services, bedding, toiletries. Our group were separated – one family on the ground floor and the other on the first floor. Sleep/night dominated with the family of five sharing the large bed, fold-out bed and/or camping down in whatever chair/corner was handy. Our suite was clean, comfortable and welcoming.

Nothing comes to mind. You access the first floor by an easy-to-handle external stairway with wide robust steps and firm handrails. You carry your bags too. If you’re not so good on your feet, then ensure that you book a ground floor room.

There’s a big step up into the shower which I think is a bit dangerous for older or less mobile guests.

The shower was so slow empting to caused a flood each time it was used.

Raw sugar sachets would be great. Bathroom needed a heater / fan. Everything else was good 😊

The veiw was amazing and the was comfortable. The staff were lovely to talk to and super helpful. The restaurant next to the hotel was also amazing.

L'accueil par les propriétaires. La route a été fermée à cause des inondations et nous ne pouvions plus repartir de l'hotel (route unique pour entrer dans la péninsule). Les propriétaires nous ont hébergés une nuit de plus sans supplément. Et ils ont été là pour nous passer les informations et les conseils. Un grand merci aux propriétaires

The property is situated with views over the water and the beautiful flowers were pretty. We appreciated a ground floor apartment with many facilities and private bathroom. Hosts were most helpful. Thank you

The shower is impossible to have hot water with more than a dribble of water. Nice place to stay if you don't want a hot shower.

Gastvrouw was zeer flexibel, makkelijk, meedenkend en vriendelijk. Als je kamer op de 1ste verdieping is, heb een een prachtig uitzicht over de baai: leuke wandeltocht vanaf locatie. Kamer is niet modern, maar verzorgd en knus. Akaroa op circa 10 min afstand met auto… prachtig gelegen

Not very clean (dirty bay window) nor well equiped / furnished (only 2 chairs for 4 pers - no cooking area - only a small fan as heating system). Fridge even froze our food... Bed in the living room is just terrible just like the owners who just don't care at all.about these issues.

We didn't read well enough and were disappointed there wasn't a stove. The pull-out couch isn't really comfortable.

il n'y a pas de penderie, juste 2 crochets, ce qui est insuffisant; une seule table de nuit; de la moquette épaisse qui n'est pas très hygiénique; la cabine de douche est petite et "plastique"; un petit déjeuner avec 2 tranches de pain et 1 confiture, fruits muesli, ce n'est pas abondant, mais pour 17$ on ne fait pas de miracles.

Property is a bit dated. No hob top cooking facilities in kitchen - just microwave - not sure if it mentioned that in details however. The sofa bed sofa was not the most comfy to be honest - as a sofa not a bed. No bedside table on one side of bed or ply as bed was flush to wardrobe - perhaps doesn’t need wardrobe

There are no bedside tables or shelf's beside the bed. We had to put our phones and reading glasses on the floor.
