Staff friendly, lovely and clean and food great thank you
Be aware it can be a little noisy with guests from the pub just outside the room, however this stopped at midnight just for awareness if you need an early night
Nice and clean, very quirky room and exactly what we wanted.
Primarily, great staff. All wore smiles and were polite and courteous. Lovely room with a lot of nice touches. Bed and mattress awesome. Surprisingly peaceful once pub noise dissisitates.
Any negatives? Bathroom could do with a little TLC.
Clean, tidy and super friendly staff
Friendly and helpful staff Great location Quiet
Breakfast was ordinary- standard has dropped since last visit. Mushroom was clearly a leftover and like leather. Shower completely impractical
Excellent value for money. Room was clean and comfortable. Even though there was a fan it did get a bit warm in the room but that is minor criticism as ever other aspect was great
Great location for Shuttleworth.
Scope to improve the food but overall it was very acceptable.
Clean, comfortable room with good facilities.
Shower needs some attention. Room way too hot. Fans provided not effective in these temperatures. Might need air con!
Perfectly situated just off the A1.
There’s nothing to dislike. Alex the manager is excellent.
Breakfast was fresh and enjoyable.
We were very disappointed that our room was not made up on Friday. We informed the person who came to our room earlier that morning that we would be leaving at 1pm, as we in the process of getting ready for a wedding. Fresh towels and milk would have been very welcome, but sadly no one came back to refresh our room once we left.
The shower not that good in room 2
Everything !
Nothing to dislike !
The breakfast each day was really good and the room was a good size. Every day we had fresh milk for our coffee.
The only thing that could have been better would be air conditioning as the room was really warm but two fans were provided.
The food and atmosphere
Convenient to where we planned to visit. Vibrant pub and great restaurant attached Nice extras in the room
Two chairs would have been useful
Best fish and chips I've had for years.
As ever a consistent level of great customer focused service and dinner was superb. The rooms are excellent.
The heatwave provided a difficult time for the Crown to maintain coolness in the room and therefore sleep was almost impossible, despite windows open after dark, and a fan …maybe investing in a cooling fan such as a Dyson or even portable aircon would help.
Excellent breakfast and bar food
Some traffic noise....it was hot so we had the windows open.
nothing!!
I would like to express my genuine disappointment with the stay my 88-year-old mother and I had at The Crown Pub, Dining & Rooms. We arrived after 10:45 p.m. and were allocated a ground-floor bungalow-style room located in the pub's courtyard. As it was a Saturday night, the pub was extremely busy, with customers enjoying their evening. The music was exceptionally loud, making it impossible to get any sleep. Our next disappointment was the lack of air conditioning. The room was extremely hot, and the only cooling available was a small fan that was so weak it was practically useless. Considering that the room cost £180 for a single night, this was completely unacceptable. After checking in, I discovered that the entrance door was faulty. If you managed to lock it, you could not unlock it again. I called the receptionist, who came to assist but ended up accidentally locking herself inside the room. She phoned the manager, who arrived and suggested that she climb out through the window. The implication was that my 88-year-old mother and I would have to do the same if we locked the door. This was absolutely outrageous. In the end, we were advised not to lock the room door at all, which is clearly not an acceptable solution for paying guests. The problems did not end there. The bathroom door was also broken and would not close properly, and the coffee machine in the room did not work. To make matters worse, the hotel's advertisement stated that breakfast was included in the room rate. However, we were asked to pay an additional £20. This was misleading and extremely disappointing. Overall, this stay represented very poor value for money. Between the excessive noise, the broken facilities, the lack of basic comfort, and the misleading information about breakfast, I cannot recommend The Crown Pub, Dining & Rooms. Our experience was deeply disappointing. I would strongly advise prospective guests to consider other accommodation options.
Excellent breakfast and lovely size room. Located in a barn-like conversion a few seconds walk from the main pub.
Nothing
Breakfast was great and staff very friendly
A bit close to the road when having a beer, can be a bit noisy. However in the rooms. It is quiet
Breakfast could be served earlier than 8 o clock that would be very convenient but it was an very good breakfast.
Earlier breakfast
The pub food
Easy access, friendly and helpful staff, good parking
Bed was too hard for me The normal price was doubled for the airshow
The Staff were excellent, the room comfortable and had everything we wanted. Good food, good pub, nice location for us. Would definitely stay again.
Leaving.
Convenient location. Nice room. Good breakfast.
Location ideal for my needs. Food (evening meal and breakfast) was excellent. Will be visiting again.
The room we had was quiet even when the pub garden was busy and we weren’t disturbed by noise at all during our stay. The weekend was very warm so the room was warm, but there was a fan provided and we also had taken our own just in case. Nice coffee and tea in the rooms, also had a small fridge. The toiletries are Rituals, and very nice. The breakfast was lovely and we had 2 evening meals as well, all the food was nice.
The shower was not all that good and the water went outside the shower over the floor so that was disappointing. As the unit is on the ground floor we didn’t feel we could leave the window open in the room overnight or when we were out during the day as not sure if it would’ve been ok.
Comfortable rooms and v convenient Nice staff
Nice area
Filthy floor Grubby bathroom The questions and answers for this hotel on booking.com website says "we give breakfast with all stays" But we were told we had to pay £10 each It was sn expensive pub for food and drink Given cuddled milk in room fridge, fridge didnt work properly Extreme noise. We were not told when we booked that rooms had rowdy beer garden, with noise right through until midnight
The room was spotless and had lots of useful touches such as bottled water, tea and coffee, hair dryer and straighteners. The bed and pillows were comfy. Staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was great.
The room was very warm but there was a fan which adequately solved the problem
Lots of choice and very freshly cooked.
Lovely room, great bar and restaurant
Excellent food. Really friendly staff. Good size room that is well equipped. Close to the Shuttleworth collection at Old Warden Airfield.
Nothing
Lovely room, very clean and very nice pub. Fantastic breakfast and excellent friendly staff.
Bed was too firm even for me but a minor detail. Obviously it’s a pub so there was some noise in the evening and more so because the accommodation is in a building in the pub garden. But it don’t bother us - only saying to make people aware it’s not rooms above the pub as one might expect.
Lovely room and excellent service. Comfy bed and nice bathroom.
Noise on Friday night as sunny, so lots of people drinking outside until late.
Very nice room with tea & coffee making facilities. Good sized room. Helpful staff. Breakfast was excellent.
Room decor Comfy bed Fluffy towels Delicious breakfast
Nothing
Fantastic breakfast and lovely dinners, great staff and a pleasant lively environment. The room was very comfortable and there was plenty of parking.
The wifi was poor in the evenings making the internet TV difficult to watch, but this did not spoil what was a pleasant stay in a nice environment with friendly staff.
The pub/restaurant was welcoming as soon as we walked in. Once booked in which took a matter of seconds we were shown to our accommodation which was spotless.
Nothing I could put a finger on.
Convenient location, spacious room & bathroom, comfortable bed, good heating, restaurant, good choice at breakfast, safe & fidge
Breakfast food was good but service was slow to very slow
Lovely pub nice room
Cold water kept running hot. No water pressure in shower
Both very good
Shower was not very warm or have muchpower
The property looked lovely. Well designed and presented
The room was well sized and the facilities were good. The shower room looked great but the shower took some working out. As soon as the shower went on, even with the screen in place everything got soaked even the towels which were placed under the sink. Also the floor was so slippery, my partner fell over in the shower. The room was very warm and even with the fan, was stifling. We couldn’t open the windows because the beer garden was right outside. The breakfast wasn’t great the first day. Sausage skins were tough and the sour dough bread toast inedibly tough. Only one cup of coffee was offered. You couldn’t fault the service though. Fast and efficient. Don’t get me wrong. This was a good place to stay but style over substance was the rooms theme.
Delicious and served by a very nice young woman.
Convenient for visiting family.
Rooms close to beer garden. Although quietened down when pub closed.
This is an exceptional place to stay. The staff were delightful and the property excellent
Nothing. I was one of the best establishments I have stayed in.
Great location for visiting relatives very welcoming comfortable accommodation and a great breakfast menu
Don’t think they can improve on anything
Food always excellent. Rooms have everything you need.
Bathroom a bit tired so needs a bit of attention.
Very nice and helpful staff. When I said that I had to check out at 08.00, they asked me if they could prepare a breakfast to be delivered at my room; and so they did. Very good service!
Breakfast may be served from 07.00 (08.00 was too late: Had to leave before breakfast)
Room had everything you might need. Decor very attractive. All spotless. Breakfast choices great and had two evening meals also excellent. Would recommend.
All the staff were very kind and helpful
The rooms were very nice, the bed very comfortable and you had everything you needed.
Lovely room, clean and comfortable
Beautifully kitted out comfortable room with the most thoughtful touches- even fresh milk for tea! Friendly kind staff- fantastic breakfast- beautiful bed linens- it was honestly one of the most lovely bnb’s I’ve ever stayed at.
Nothing! It was all fab!
Ideal location close to family party
The breakfast and the dinner were perfectly cooked and served. We were made to feel very welcome by the friendly and professional staff. Nothing was too much trouble. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there, and will certainly return
Nothing at all, from the moment I checked in till the next day when I checked out, I couldn’t fault a thing. My son and daughter who live locally join ed me for dinner and breakfast., and agreed that they’ll certainly be booking in for dinner.
We requested early check in which was no problem at all. The staff were friendly from the moment we checked in, to the following morning when we were served an excellent breakfast, which apparently has won awards. It was clear to see why. I could not fault the stay and would return without hesitation.
Very comfortable and warm, plenty of parking. Well appointed bathroom and bedroom with a large smart tv. Excellent bars with a good choice of beers, ales and lagers. There is a large covered seating area outside with excellent heaters. We sat outside one evening in January and did not need a coat. Although we did not eat here in the evening all guests told us that the food was very good. The staff throughout were very good.
The breakfast was a little disappointing in that no butter or marmalade was available so the toast served with the eggs was very dry. The bacon and eggs were overcooked but the rest was very good. The overall standards were high throughout so we think was an aberration and not usual. (We certainly would try another breakfast here, do not let this put you off.)
Wonderful freshly cooked breakfast. Directors on tap
Kettle needed in room Dining room to open on Sunday evenings
very friendly and attentive staff good amenities
the room was a little warm though the fan was a welcome addition
Comfortable room with good facilities. Sunday lunch was great as was breakfast.
Nothing
We couldn’t fault the staff they were exceptional the food was amazing the whole stay was very good could not fault anything.
Nothing it was all good
The staff were very polite and helpful, and the room was beautifully decorated with nice little finishing touches. It was nice to have a coffee machine and fridge. As it was a work trip I was leaving too early to have breakfast but the staff bought me a hamper across with continental items each night. Lots of free parking, and the pub is in a nice quiet area. I honestly can't fault the decoration and cleanliness of the room, and helpfulness of the staff.
There was one thing that made this stay uncomfortable unfortunately. The room (no.1) is in an outside annex so gets cold quickly once the heating goes off overnight. The first night it was -4 out and it was so cold I couldn't sleep, especially with the thin summer duvet provided. I was fully dressed in bed with a woolly hat and coat on, and heating didn't come back on until 7am which made getting ready for work and showering very uncomfortable. I raised the issue and was told that the heating stays on constantly and shouldn't be going off, but it continued to go off. The staff very kindly left me a thick winter duvet which helped, but it's just such a strange decision to put the thinnest of duvets on and turn the heating off in a week where it was below freezing each night. I promise I'm not one for complaining, it's a lovely place and the staff were great but I hardly slept a wink. Hopefully this was just a temporary problem as everything else was lovely and had it have been warm would have given it a 10 out of 10.
Everything was to a high standard , the room, lovely quality towels , nice touches in the room, excellent food, breakfast had good selection and a good service , we were very impressed , would recommend and return
Nothing
Choice was excellent and nicely presented. Evening meal also very good. It is more of a restaurant menu than the typical pub one hence it is higher in cost. We do not usually eat in pubs as we do not eat fried and junk foods, this was a refreshing change.t
The parts of this very old pub that have been restored are excellent but the carpets and chairs in the old part of the Building around the newly refurbished bar are in great need of replacement. Local families with young children frequent the venue and would suggest that faux suede chairs are unsuitable and food stained and carpets have seen better days. Realised this is a huge financial undertaking but what has been achieved is going in the right direction.
Nice dinner and good breakfast
Duvet was a bit thin and there was no extra blanket. It got quite cold in the middle of the night.
Very comfortable and staff very helpful
dissapointed with the shower, given how well thought out the rest of the room facilities are would of expected a rainfall head
Breakfast was very generous, with varied choices. Staff were extremely attentive to our particular needs. Disabled bathroom is one of the best I have seen.
Door card didn’t always seem to work, but didn’t ultimately cause any problems.
The room was absolutely lovely and the staff were so helpful! The food at the pub was also amazing. Overall it was such great value for money, I couldn't fault it!
Clean and comfortable room and friendly staff
Unfortunately evening meal very poor all 6 of us were disappointed and one meal had to be sent back
Large room and friendly staff
Noise, setting up early Saturday morning for Christmas fair and disco both nights but as it's December, it is to be expected.
Room was nice & the bar surroundings were pleasant for dinner.
More than a little surprised to find breakfast didn't start until 0800 - on a weekday you'd expect that people often travel for work & therefore, you'd be able to get a sit-down breakfast before leaving. First time I've stayed in a B&B/hotel where breakfast on a weekday doesn't start around 0700. The continental breakfast was ok - but 2 packs of jam was a bit odd when there was nothing to spread it with & nothing to spread it on.
The room was spectacular. Modern, large, warm and with fantastic facilities. The pub itself was so nice. A Lovely open fire, friendly staff and great food, Our included breakfast was amazing. I would highly recommend to anyone staying in the area,
The Thai Green Curry with Buttermilk chicken that my wife had for her evening meal wasn't the best. Didn't have a lot of flavour and a big piece of breaded chicken searved with it really didn't go. It was quit dry too.
Great rooms, new, clean, well furnished! Very friendly staff. Good food.
Absolutely superb in every way - comfort, style, spacious and warm! (A cold spell in November so much appreciated). Staff service excellent. Food VERY good. DO NOT HESITATE to stay if the location is right for you. Everything is very superior to similar accommodation of the same price. We stayed 9 years ago and were delighted to find the quality and standards remain consistent. Well done everyone and thank you.
Nothing!
Peaceful and quiet
Pub and room were very good and comfortable... just a bit pricy for a pub room, but location worked well for us.
Nice clean, big room.
Bathroom floor gets very wet when in shower as it goes under the shower screens.
Clean, comfortable and friendly
Very expensive
