5 stars all round. Great price. House keeping came everyday and changed our towels and made our bed. The shower was amazing. Super powerful and lovely hot water. Coffee, milk and sugar was topped up daily and we had. Lean cups every night. Absolutely perfect for all our needs. Thank you for looking after us.

This was a great place to stay during the fringe in terms of location, room, ease, train station walkable, 30 min to Edinburgh. Room was nice and big, clean, spacious, easy check in, let me check in early with ease as room was ready, easy check out. If it wasn't for the noise id have rated it an 8

This is what brought the score way down, one reason only, but a key one for a hotel. My room , number 2, was right above the pub, with loud music and I think karaoke (but can't be sure) going on till 12.30/1am it was impossible to get to sleep before this time. Based upon my experience they should either, clearly warn customers about this at time of booking (and maybe provide complimentary ear plugs)or not hire this room out at weekends. The room would be fine for anyone who will be out late, or will be enjoying the pub downstairs (don't get me wrong, it sounded fun down there) but when I got back after a full day in Edinburgh I just wanted to sleep, but I couldn't. Sorry, but this stay wasn't for me so unlikely to return

Une punaise de lit trouvée (chambre n° 4). Pas de piqûre a priori, l’horaire très matinal nous a peut être aidé (levé à 4h pour l’aéroport).

Même si à première vue tout était propre, on s'est réveillé plein de piqûres de punaises de lit. En espérant ne pas en avoir ramené avec nous dans les valises...

I was amazed at the size of the double bedroom, so spacious and light. Everything was clean and very accessible. It was the perfect stay for me

Quiet, very clean and spacious room with fresh bedding and towels. Shared shower room equally as clean with shower gels and toiletries gratis.

The receptionist insisted that I surrender my debit card for the purpose of copying the details and processing a deposit for potential property damage. Such conduct is characteristic only of scammers. This behaviour is entirely unacceptable. I verified that I could fulfil the required deposit through online payment or bank transfer. In response, I was informed that my reservation was being cancelled.

The location is ideal and close to Falkirk .

The toilets are shared which we knew but would be nice if other visitors were a wee bit more considerate as they are shared but not the inns fault ,,

The bed was very comfy. Was a little worried that it might be a bit noisy what with being above a pub but it wasn't at all. We both slept really well.

Proste miejsce, zarezerwowane jako miejsce noclegowe na trasie. Tanie, czyste, były wszystkie potrzebne udogodnienia. W pobliżu nie ma gdzie zjeść śniadania i to był (niewielki) problem. Zjedliśmy w Falkirk. Gdybym potrzebowała znów noclegu po drodze, to z chęcią bym wybrała ten sam :)

Clean room without privat bathroom but clean and nice for one night stay - easily parking on the road.

Ik ben warm onthaald de eerste dag. De dag nadien kon ik de TV niet goed installeren en men hielp mij met de glimlach. Handdoeken, zelfs de koffiefaciliteiten... alles was proper en werd meteen aangevuld. Gemakkelijke busverbinding ( X38,) nog wel vlak ernaast.

Ein sehr netter und freundlicher Empfang. Das Zimmer (in einem Nachbarhaus zur Inn gelegen ) war hell, sehr sauber und komfortabel. Die gemeinschaftlichen Sanitäranlagen waren eine Etage tiefer und ebenfalls gut ausgestattet und sauber. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist unschlagbar. Auch die Infrastruktur um die Unterbringung herum ist ideal! Danke für die Gastfreundschaft - auf ein Pint sind wir leider nicht mehr bis in den Pub gekommen, sorry, wir waren einfach zu müde.

I found this online and wasn't sure what to expect as the price was much cheaper than other accommodation nearby. However, l had no need to worry! The girls behind the bar were lovely, one showed us to our room straight away and told us we had an upgrade at no extra cost, as the room we'd booked wasn't available. It was huge, the decor was minimal and plain. But it was clean, had everything we needed and even a mini fridge - bonus! We had a few drinks in the pub before and after the event, it had a really friendly atmosphere and we met some lovely people. Even managed to eat our dinner from the restaurant nextdoor in the wee snug, to save us having to move - brilliant x

Room not as advertised, all rooms with shared bathrooms say so explicitly in the name of the room when booking. The room I booked did not, so I booked it knowing that the last thing I would ever do is book a room with a shared bathroom. Imagine my surprise when I turned up after a nearly 5 hour drive and was shown the shared bathroom. I raised this with the staff and they said I needed to go through Booking.com to sort it. I have received no answer whatsoever from the management. I requested a refund and they have ignored it. Very very misleading room name, so much so that I think it has been done deliberately.

Nach Anmeldung auch späterer Checkin im Pub möglich, sehr angenehme und hilfsbereite Gastgeber - und Gäste aus aller Welt. Gute Tipps für Restaurants in fussläufiger Entfernung und eine sichere Nische mit Kameraüberwachung für das Motorrad.

A local pub with seperate door to the accommodation bloc. The local had a friendly crowd who watched the SS football most evenings.

Unfortunately it was not clean , toilet has mould on ceiling, and was a bit dusty ,bed was dirty in corners too. Was also quiet loud until late as the pub is kind a together with rooms so was difficult to get some rest

TL;DR - blasting karaoke in the bar bellow until 1 AM is something to be expected here. Unless you are drunk, you will have a hard time sleeping here. I know we did not pay for luxury, nor did we get it. But having to listen to karaoke (of course) from the bar below is just obnoxious. As a european from continental Europe, i was surprised to learn that it is normal to blast music after 10 PM. Upon arrival we were told that there's a karaoke tonight by the the bartender from the bar, who was also the "host" or at least the person who handed us the keys.. Nothing could have been done at that point since it was late and this "housing" was already paid. Nonetheless, we hoped it would not be that bad. Oh boy, was i wrong. We measured 45 decibels on average in the ream from the hell-pit downstairs. It might not sound like much, but give it a shot - and then try to sleep in this. After discussion with the "host" they allegedly have a license to play until 1 AM, that karaoke was there for years and that nothing can be done - very customer centric approach right there! According to the Scottish laws, after 11 PM the noise level should not exceed 31 decibels. It is also backed by Falkirk council (source here: https://www.falkirk.gov.uk/nuisances/noise-nuisance) that such thing is a problem. The whole situation has been reported to Booking and a refund has been requested. Will reach out to Bow hospitality (https://bowhospitality.co.uk/venues/the-black-bull-polmont/) regarding this matter that they adjust the listing details to reflect that this is very likely to happen. On an unrelated note, the shared bathroom is also kinda hideous and one of them cannot even be locked. EDIT: email to the Bow hospitality has been sent to multiple addresses i scrubbed online since their online form doesn't work - that nicely follows the story how this company works.

Nearby Aldi. Next to bar. On Main Street so close enough for decent connections. Bed was fine. Shower was fine.

No breakfast. Staff not always available because it's linked to a bar. Very loud at night, both due to bar and washing machine. Lots of black mold in the bathroom. No bath. No desk. A bit bland. Not really any extras, other than the typical complimentary body wash and coffee/tea.

Die Betreiberin des Pubs war sehr freundkich und zuvorkommend. Die Zimmer samt Bad sind renoviert. Super Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Es war für die Alternative zu den teueren Zimmern in Edingburgh.

The room and ensuite were really clean and spacious. The bed was large and very comfortable. It was excellent value for money. Pub noise wasn’t a problem, even though it was busy in there. We added a second night and did a day trip by train into Edinburgh instead of driving. The Black Bull is only 15 minutes walk from the station, and the train ride is about 25 minutes into central Edinburgh. It was perfect.

I like booking black bull but the heating wasn't on during the nite and was that cold I had to leave early in morning as I was so cold I couldn't sleep,never had this problem B4 but will think twice about booking again

Perfect, for the price it really is unbeatable, the room was comfortable, clean and warm, can't fault it.

The room was clean and had its own en-suite which apparently they do not all have, I was in room 1. The barmaid showed me to the room and was friendly and stated what I should do upon leaving. Parking was adequate and plenty there.

Fellow guests/Workers outside my window smoking and coughing up phlegm at 6am. Not what you want to wake up to at 6am. No shower gels and very small towels. I walked across to the ALDI store across the street to grab some shower gel, which was luckily still open.

Good condition and very clean

This is a great wee traditional Scottish pub. The location is great; the facilities simple, but the room was spotlessly clean, and the bed comfy. There's a side entrance to the rooms, so you don't need to go through the bar, but I did enjoy a pint there before bedtime.

The Saturday night karaoke wasn't the most tuneful, but in fairness it didn't disturb my sleep.

El agua sale bien caliente y la calefacción funciona a la perfección. La habitación era muy amplia y luminosa. Accesibilidad al tren o bus, cercana y fácil.

Cuando quisimos ir a dormir se escuchaba toda la música del bar de abajo y fue muy molesto. Faltaba limpieza, había comida de otros huéspedes dentro de algunos cajones. Nunca pudimos conectarnos a la red de WiFi

Located around 10 minutes walk from Polmont station so has good transport links, with a couple of takeaways close by (with a couple of shops in the local area). Bed was comfortable with the window having both blind & curtains to help block out the light. Good-sized bedroom with the shared bathroom close by.

A small bit of outside noise due to the road, shower wasn't the most powerful (and the bathroom light didn't switch off so there was some light leaking into the room from the hallway). Not the best first impression of arriving into the pub to pass smokers smoking within the front hallway area.

The accommodation was a large room and a shared bathroom. The accommodation was not too far from the train and there were takeaways and a supermarket nearby.

All the bathrooms were old and all of the shared bathrooms had issues that had not been repaired making them nearly unusable and certainly unpleasant.

Unfortunately, you could hear the people downstairs in the pub, luckily from about 11pm it was very quiet

L'hôtel est globalement propre et spacieux. Le lit était comfortable et le logement très proche de l'aéroport ce qui est parfait pour rendre la voiture de location tôt le matin. La personne au pub était très disponible lors du check in.

Malheureusement j'ai passé une très mauvaise nuit en raison de punaise de lit qui m'ont dévoré toute la nuit. J'ai informé l'hôte par message car personne pour faire le check out mais aucune réponse. Grosse déception j'espère qu'ils ont pris en compte mon message car la chambre 4 doit être désinfecter impérativement et nettoyer avant d'être de nouveau loué. Les nids sont dans la tête de lit comme sur les photos partagées. Sans cette mauvaise expérience j'aurai recommandé le logement mais dans ces conditions et le fait de ne pas avoir eu de réponse à mon message je ne peux le recommander.
