Shola Crown Resort - Munnar

Placed at the hill top it experienced tremendous winds and the place is very cool making it amazing to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful!

Pool and scenery

The state of the full building - every room is covered with mold and water damage, and in addition it's not clean. We decided to cancel after seeing the rooms and it was a great decision. It took a long time to get reimbursed. Honestly, at this price it feels like a scam and with bought reviews.

The staff. Very helpful and courteous. The food was good. Spacious room and facilities. The pool area is nice, and will make you jump in even if you haven't planned for it.

The access requires a steep climb. The stairs and some of the verandah/pathways are not covered and with the unexpected rain, it was very slippery (and dirty).

Pros: Amazing location with breathtaking mountain views, truly the highlight of the stay. The infinity pool and surrounding areas are beautiful and very relaxing. The room and bathroom were spacious, and the room size was good overall. Faizal deserves a special mention for his excellent service and helpful attitude, which made a positive difference.

Cons: The room condition needs serious attention. There were clear signs of dampness, fungus, peeling paint, and water seepage, especially near the windows and power outlets. Overall maintenance and renovation are long overdue. Food was below average with a limited spread. Room service was also disappointing; on the first day, water bottles were not refilled, and used coffee cups were left on the table without being cleared.

Nice location, amazing views. Good breakfast, very good dinner.

Poor build quality in the rooms, the hotel looks a lot better from the outside than the inside. Pictures in the hotel profile are not accurate. Rooms were dirty upon arrival. No heating in rooms, and we had to share a portable heater between two rooms because they didn't have any more.

Location is amazing and so was the food and all other facilities. Only downside could be the location which is roughly 10 kms from Munnar and therefore may make travel longer than expected.

Beautiful Stay A Beautiful view with our balcony. The staff are wonderful and I highly recommend this hotel. Delicious food and the chef is very attentive to your needs as we don’t eat very spicy. Buffet breakfast had everything you could want. A must visit. Staff that were super nice ! Jithin,tiger,anil - chef Also Tijo who was super helpful !! So many other names I don’t remember all but all soo nice Note: it does get chilly/cold at night so please bring sweater or jacket and pants as we are high in the mountains. Also they provide tours with a cost Ofcourse

Very comfortable stay. Something that people should know that it’s a bit far from th city centre so there is not much to do here and that’s not a bad thing as we had a driver and then spent a day just relaxing hang by the pool and enjoy the most beautiful view. Food is excellent in the morning and at night. Also if you come in February it is very very chilly at night so please bring warm clothing

Not great for people with mobility issues due to steep access to hotel as well as rooms. Limited refreshments on offer. Constant pestering from staff either by phone or knocking on the door to room.

The location, cleanliness of room and surroundings, friendly staff. Great romantic climate coupled with the resort area made it great. Breakfast buffet was great.

There were lots of flies. One time it entered our bedroom and had to call the receptionist to get rod of it. Also the septic tank is located near the parking and the smell was bad. The breakfast buffet could have had non veg items too. Also the dinner buffet is overpriced and didn’t have enough non veg items so I had to drive 8 kms down to a decent hotel.

Ideal place as 'base camp' to go and explore the hiking areas and do jeep tours.

Food is good.

The location is awesome, just crossing the Tamil Nadu border. Also, the drive between resorts and Munnar town is a great place to drive. We don't need to plan any other side seeing that nice road to drive and see the location.

Though the staff are very friendly and do their best, the staff count is very low compared to the crowd at the resort. 1). Not able to get a tea or coffee between 6 and 7:30am; no one is pickings up the calls because they are all busy preparing breakfast and cleaning common areas. As a guest, it's a very painful experience without proper tea and coffee in such a nice morning climate. 2). There is a heavy rush in breakfast and dinner hours, and staff are not able to manage because there are very few staff, and at one point I vacated the dining hall on Sunday dinner.

Very nice location with an amazing view and the staff was very caring and polite, we could feel at home! The hotel is having an infinite pool that we could use during the morning, couldn't expect better than this.

I took a trip the hotel provides I had to turn back 5km into the trip as I forgotten something. At the end of the trip the driver demanded more money than agreed the hotel staff didn't help me or even reason with them cause I know they get commission from each trip . I just felt the staff should have done more to help its guests instead of standing there silent . The location is in the middle of nowhere 15km away from munnar town you don't have a choice but to take these over priced drivers the hotel provides. I was going to extend my stay there but I went to a different hotel in munnar Town

Not enough facilities to spend more than 1-2 night. Considering there is nothing nearby, restaurant should have run full menu all day and add more healthy food options.

It was very good, with a scope for improvement.

The upgrade to a superior room, "The Crown Suite" was a big disappointment. No balcony view. Dark coloured sloping roof seriously affected the lighting in the room. Wash room should have hair drier. For a three four storeyed property a lift is a must. On top of that open stairs during rains is a nightmare to come down to the dining area with all wet floor and steps.

1. There was a constant urine smell on the first day on the corridor of our room (a5) and worse part is when we called in to the reception, they said it’s not possible. 2. The bathroom clogged up multiple times. 3. When asked for heater for both the rooms, got one for one room and was said they don’t have any more.

Location of the resort is good as it was in the way to Munnar while coming from Bangalore . Breakfast was good . Food options good be more.

Excellent place for family!! Rooms are big and clean. Pool maintained well & clean. Location of resort is superb! Superb climate with mountains covered with fog. And in night resort was almost covered with fog. One can go there when have fun with family. Service of staff is very prompt & polite. All staff members are always there to serve you. Food - okay Tariff - Reasonable. Overall, best place for couple or family

Nothing at all.

The worst place I have ever stayed in my whole entire life.It is not a 5 star hotel. Contact us for the horrific stay. We booked for 5 nights and we stayed 1 night and left. Hygienically it was horrific. Never ever will I advise anyone to stay at this hotel. Thank God we could afford another hotel. And non refundable was our loss. Consumer rights act claim, my rights regarding our stay at this hotel, which has furher breached the national legislation, due to the incorrect information this Hotel has given to Booking.com. This has allowed my decisions to trust such promotions as the above. The Consumer Rights Act, claims my right to benifit from reasonable care, which has been violated. The bathroom germs and odor got me sick. No internet, unsanitary lenin, matress abhorrent, blood stains on the sheets, holes in all the pillows, room servise staff had a peeping hole to look in our room, the floor was black when you walked on it. And i only ask one thing. Please dont recommend this hotel or think to give it a 5 star.
