Amazing place, great breakfast. Excellent location. Maria at the front desk is absolutely amazing and so very helpful.

This general property & room, staffing, complimentary breakfast were amazing. Short walk to village square for ample dining and shops, ferry to Morocco, beach, & historic sites. Our favorite overall stop while in España.

Very friendly staff, easy parking in the community lot, easy to get to (pay attention to the arrival instructions), good AC, and a nice breakfast. Our lower floor room felt a little damp, which may partly because we had the AC cranked. Comfy bed. Would stay again.

Fantastic property and town!

Very cool architecture and decor, the dining atrium with vertical garden is a little oasis. Delicious breakfast and kind and patient staff. Maria is a goddess who floats through the hotel anticipating your every need with grace and efficiency and impeccable English. For those that want to relive their youth hostel experience but need the finer things will find this fits the bill!

We had a wonderful time in Tarifa and it all started with Hotel Kook. The staff was so welcoming to this cozy hotel. The staff treat you like family and the relaxed atmosphere was just what travelers need.

Excellent séjour à cet hôtel, les deux personnes que nous avons vu à l'accueil sont très sympathiques et partagent avec plaisir les bons plans locaux. Une parle très bien le français ce qui facilite les échanges. Tout est parfait et pensé, le petit déjeuner est excellent et il y a thé, café, fruits à disposition toute la journée. Notre chambre etait spacieuse, propre, avec une bonne literie et une petite terrasse. Le plus est le rooftop avec vue sur la ville et la mer. Merci à toute l'équipe pour cet agréable séjour.

Excellent staff.

Loved every about the property, but the ladies were amazing. Oriana offered wonderful places to eat and was always their to make the best coffee in town. We loved how quiet and cozy we felt inside. The wall of plants was stunning as was the view from the hotel roof deck! We will be back for sure. Thank you!

We loved our one night stay at Kook. The hotel staff were friendly and the room was lovely and clean. We had a very good breakfast and the hotel was ideally situated in the old town of Tarifa. We would love to stay here again.

Nice basic hotel in a great location and helpful and friendly staff.

This is quite easily one of the best hotels I've ever been to, and one of the best experiences overall, period. The staff is incredible. When they found out we were leaving earlier than the free breakfast started in the morning, they wrapped us up a personal breakfast and delivered it to our room the night before. The furniture, setting, vibe and amenities were incredible, clean, cozy, and warm. It made want to stay longer. Then the recommendations for travel to Morocco and Spain were amazing, and they even toasted us for our honeymoon. A must stay experience.

This hotel is very unique and clean. Great decorations in the hotel and amazing view of from roof top if the Straits of Gibraltar. Lovely hotel and awesome healthy breakfast.

We loved our stay at Hotel Kook. The building was beautiful, rooms decorated well, and the breakfast was excellent. Great location too. The bowl of fruit and fruited water available at all hours was a wonderful treat, very appreciated. We would definitely stay here again.

Service and location were fantastic. Rooftop deck is a beautiful amenity. Breakfast was delicious. Convenient location in the old city, near the wall entry. Staff went above and beyond, making us feel at home throughout our stay, and offering helpful restaurant and other suggestions.

We visited this hotel a couple of years ago when it was newly renovated. There is some need for renewal again. Perfect location. Nice rooftop terrace. Good breakfast.

Great service, calm setting in lively Tarifa.

This property was outstanding, Miriam greeted us with a room upgrade and she turned on the A/C 1/2 hour before our arrival so we would be quite comfortable. We are traveling through Spain and this was the most comfortable bed we have had, excellent! The rooftop was a great place to take coffee or wine. The rest of the staff were incredible as well, breakfast was so so so good! The old town was nearby to explore shopping and dining and very walkable but don’t attempt to drive in, the streets and corners are not easily maneuvered and there is no parking in old town. You must park outside a few blocks away. The property was an easy walk to the port to catch our ferry to Morocco and the staff at Kook were very happy to hold our luggage until we returned the next afternoon. An excellent experience at Kook! We were here for only one night but on our next trip we plan to stay in Tarife longer as both the old town and the newer town looked so charming and worth a longer visit!

This hotel was in a very quiet corner of the old city, very convenient to restaurants and local sites. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast table was loaded with delicious food and fresh juice. We enjoyed our stay!

We LOVED this hotel. Super cool and funky. A decor. A welcomed break from typical hotels. The front desk (I think her name is Maria) was exceptionally nice and helpful. If we ever make it back to Tarifa, we would not even consider looking for a different hotel.

This is on the edge of town, so relatively short walk from parking. The staff (owner?) was outstanding and helpful. The place was nice, lots of nice details to make our stay comfortable

Much, much more than a five star experience I feel bad giving Kook Hotel a five star review because I’ve given many others five stars, and Kook is SO much better. First the staff, Oriana at reception was so warm and welcoming, went above and beyond to make sure our Tarifa experience was exceptional. After more than a year of travel since we retired I can say that we’ve never felt such warmth and welcome anywhere. Paqui. We met Paqui preparing breakfast our first morning. She was so warm and friendly, telling us proudly about her city of Tarifa, “una ciudad de puertas abiertas” a city so safe you don’t need to lock your doors. Pepe. We asked Pepe, the manager, where we could find a laundry, he responded by asking us how much we had and then they washed our clothes for us at no charge. When we checked out after two nights, Oriana gave us a hug, it almost brought tears to our eyes, because unfortunately, this level of warmth and kindness is all too rare. And if that wasn’t enough, the food and drinks they provide are beyond the pale, I particularly loved their chia oat breakfast and avocado toast. And of course, they had the most comfortable bed and best shower we’ve had in Europe thus far. They have super cool common areas with a living green wall and an amazing rooftop terrace. Kook is a 10 star hotel with a 100 star staff. We were so sad to leave.

We enjoyed this modern hotel tucked into a quiet corner of Tarifa's old town. The rooftop deck was beautiful and the selection at breakfast was great. Parking was a bit tricky - the first option was full but we found parking at the second suggestion. Once parked everything is very walkable. The staff was warm and helpful.

A beautiful facility with an excellent staff. The woman at reception was welcoming and knowledgeable. The person helping with the delicious breakfast was wonderful as well. We might go back just to spend more time there!

Perfekt!!

Great boutique hotel in the old town. Close to great restaurants. We were there in the summer and the vibe in the old town was fabulous. The room was unique (in a good way way - relaxed and casual) and we had a patio. Breakfast was included and quite good. The person greeting us at the hotel when we were there was lovely and helpful. The upstairs deck has a great view of the sea and you can see Africa in the distance.

I loved everything about this hotel, from the friendly and welcoming staff, the clean rooms, the lovely decor and the brilliant breakfast. It's in an excellent location too. I highly recommend.

The Kook Hotel was a great find, and although we were there for only one night, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is a surprise from the moment you step out of the alleyway and into the dimly lit lobby. Orianna is lovely and friendly, as well as being very professional. Rooms were very comfortable with good showers, efficient AC and good lighting. Breakfast was delicious too. We will return later this year, or next summer. I cannot find anything negative to comment on.

What a great landing spot to regroup and store some baggage before a couple of days in Morocco. Loved this little hotel, the staff were fantastic and the atmosphere and vibe were terrific.

This property and Staff are incredible ! The atmosphere is so relaxed ! Breakfast incredible! Rosa was the most incredible person , and memory for details to your needs ! Everyone here treats you like your family!! The decor is so homie !! Old records on the wall , and the living wall in the middle is beautiful! Views from roof top terrace are incredible!! You can see Africa fro from their !! You can help yourself to beverages anytime! Sit relax and take it in !! I truly could livw here ! But please dont stay here if you think you need to be waited on hand and foot because these beautiful people are incredible!

This boutique hotel was so pretty - the room was modern and comfortable, it has a cozy lounge, good breakfast options, tea and coffee all day, and a rooftop patio to see over nearly all of Tarifa. It was close to all the dining and bars, safe, and the staff were super friendly and helpful.

Greeted with enthusiasm, efficient check in, map supplied of old town and suggested eateries marked. Room was spacious, well lit and great comfortable bed, great shower. Tea/coffee, fruit, filtered water and flavoured water available 24 hours. Great roof top area to view the old town and activities in the Gibralter Strait. Breakfast plentiful and varied with gorgeous ladies on hand to assist with keeping the breakfast area clean and stocked. Lift on the premises and cooling walled garden to sit by and have breakfast.

Stayed at the hotel back in August. This is a really great hotel in a great location. The hotel staff is very accommodating and will go above and beyond to meet your needs. They offer a breakfast inclusive, which is amazing if you want to hit the beach in the morning without wasting time getting to local cafes tea/fruits provided all day long. I loved the atmosphere and the ambience of the hotel. A few negatives. The hotel is in bohemian style and I get that the bathroom interior fits the idea, but it needs to be refreshed. Our bathroom walls seemed to be covered in some spots that looked like flies were smacked there. Toward the end of the trip a door frame (top part) fell onto me. The hotel mentioned they will fix it once we vacate the room. Luckily it did not land on my head. Location 10/10 Cleanliness 9/10 Staff 11/10

Lovely place

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, speedy checkin, allowed us to leave our luggage before we checked in. Would definitely recommend Kook Hotel and stay there again.

Outstanding, friendly stay. The rooms are unlike any we saw- in a very good way! The employees are so warm and friendly. The Kook is a must, as is Tarifa.

Excellent location in the old city, within easy walking distance of cafes, historic sites, the waterfront and the ferry to Tangier. The rooftop deck offers spectacular views, the breakfast was delicious and the staff is excellent (and helpful). My room was clean and comfortable and well-designed, as are the public spaces throughout. In spite of central location, it is quiet. I also liked that the building seems to be a refurbished structure that fits in well with the historic fabric of the city on the exterior but has a contemporary feel inside.

Such a lovely hotel. Cannot find any fault. Staff were extra special, rooms modern and clean, breakfast just right.

Quirky excellence might describe Kook Hotel or just excellence. Extra amenities you don’t usually see, like fresh fruit throughout the day, lavish free breakfasts, and killer views from the roof terrace. The staff, Estefania in particular, is personable, knowledgeable, helpful, and conversant in English. You can’t go wrong if you stay at Kook Hotel and you may go wrong if you don’t.

The kook was perfect! Funky but functional, we highly recommend the kook, our room was comfortable, the lobby was welcoming, casual and we enjoyed playing backgammon with wine before going to bed. Silos restaurants was fabulous as recommended by Kook reception. Thanks for the fun Memories and perfect fit for our trip. Tarifa was more fun than expected!

A very unique and friendly place to stay! Location was great. Hotel staff was very nice and helpful. This property felt like a home away from home. It had a lovely seating area with games and books. The kitchen area had coffee and tea at all times, and the breakfast they had was terrific. I think this was a great place to stay.

Amazing hotel, amazing staff, amazing room and amazing Tarifa! We could only stay for one night, but would have stayed for many more! The staff was extremely helpful and sweet, making sure we felt at home. The location is perfect! Make sure to ask where the best parking is if you are driving since it’s impossible to get to the hotel if not by foot! There is always fruit and drinks for the guests, and there is beautiful terrace to enjoy a sunset!

We loved our stay at the Kool Kook! Oriana made us feel totally at home. She has been, by far, the most hospitable host we have had in Spain the past 10 days! The Kook is very simple in design, yet uniquely warm and inviting.

This hotel was just so convenient. The staff were wonderful and organised secure parking close by at 10euros a day not only for our stay at the hotel but for the 3 days we were in Morocco. They also let us leave our luggage there whilst we were in Morocco and rang Seville and organised an extra nights stay at our hotel there when we decided to change our plans at the last minute. Convenient walk to the ferry to Tangier and the hotel itself is relatively easily accessible if driving. The roof top terrace is magic with an amazing view. Unlimited supply of tea, coffee, juice and fresh fruit is available in the downstairs lounge and courtyard. It was just all so convenient and easy.

This super hip boutique hotel is situated at the top of town on a quiet little street. The hotel was tricky to find at first but, quickly became home away from home. The staff was welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel design and decor was thoughtfully planned creating warmth and comfort as if you were in your own living room..Kook didn't miss a beat. The nicely equipped kitchen was stocked with all kinds of complimentary goodies, tea and coffee and a well stocked fridge with beverages available for purchase. The breakfast was delicious...thank you for a wonderful experience! We would definitely stay here again!

I would give the Kook Hotel 10 stars if I could! Situated in the old town of Tarifa near the northwest wall, it is a new building constructed with meticulous attention to every detail. Walking in the front door, we felt the serenity of a spa, but then began to notice the edgy details that make it a fun and quirky place. Kristal has to be the quintessential host - calm, reassuring, competent - she wants all her guests to feel happy and well cared for, and she succeeded in spades with us! Our room was spacious, comfortable and well appointed, and contained both a small refrigerator and a safe box. Breakfast was delicious and included meats, eggs, opulent fresh fruits, yogurt, granolas. We loved this special place!

My friends and I stayed here whilst on a road trip around Southern Spain. We chose Tarifa for an overnight stay because of it's location but didn't have high hopes because we had heard some unpleasant reviews of the town. However we need not have worried, the hotel was lovely, the location was perfect and the staff at the hotel were very friendly. I would definitely recommend the Kook Hotel for anyone visiting Tarifa.

Very beautiful hotel - extremely well decorated - very tastefully done. The staff were incredibly helpful. Although the hotel is difficult to locate via gps the staff were incredibly patient with us in guiding us to their location. Very impressive.. you can tell that they really enjoy working there!

Very nice with excellent service. Difficult to get to as it is in the old town with limited access but worth the effort. The balcony really just looked at other roof tops, but everything else was just great

This is the PERFECT boutique hotel! Don't stay anywhere else when visiting Tarifa! We made a last minute decision to stay in Tarifa while traveling in Andalucia and I'm SO happy we chose to stay at this hotel. It's a newer hotel so there aren't many reviews yet but do NOT let that stop you from staying here. When we walked in the door, I felt like I was walking into someone's incredibly warm and beautiful home rather than a hotel. The customer service was amazing (the woman at the front desk gave us tons of helpful restaurant reviews, made sure we had everything we needed during our stay, etc.) the main area was cozy and perfect for reading a book/enjoying a cup of coffee. Our room was SO beautiful and decorated with such thoughtful, creative decor. All the amenities are modern and wonderful. I just also appreciated all the beautiful details everywhere in the hotel (i.e. tons of plants along the stairwell, a beautiful courtyard area with plenty of space to relax.) And the overall location is right in the heart of town with restaurants within 2-3 min walking distance (and it's only a 5-10 min from the ferry port if you are traveling to Tangier.) So..stop looking at reviews in Tarifa and just stay here! It's perfect!
