It is set in lovely surroundings with the beautiful Pentland Hills in full view. It was my late partner’s hometown and from the first time he took me there, I fell in love with Penicuik. I always stay at the Craigie as it is comfortable, perfect location and plenty of parking.

As always, the price could be a bit lower as it is such a small town

We stay at this hotel a couple of times a year when we visit old friends in Penicuik. The full Scottish breakfast is second to none, just brilliant.

Ordering breakfast a la carte for free was a highlight for us and we enjoyed it very much - turns out to be so much more comfortable than buffets. Staff very attentive and the cleanliness was spotless. Within 45min from Edinburgh Central Bus Station which was a plus for our stay during the peak season of the Fringe Festival. Very quiet location and wonderful, comfortable beds. Having a bath tub was a plus and we loved the shampoos and soaps provided (luxurious).

It was great and amazing value for money.

Hermoso lugar para distenderse luego de un día agitado, en una zona tranquila. A unos 40 mins del centro de Edimburgo en bus, que pasa a solo metros del hotel y con muy bien servicio. Encantador estilo interior en el hotel. Muy limpio y cómodo. La atención de todos fue impecable. Muy recomendable :)

Sólo, para algunos huéspedes, puede ser útil que sepan que tiene 1ro y 2do piso sin ascensor. No fue un problema para nosotros, pero es para considerar en algunos casos especiales.

Personnel souriant et avenant. Bon restaurant. Arrêt d autobus juste en face qui ns amène à Edimbourg.

Wunderschönes Hotel, süße Bar, Bushaltestelle in der Nähe, viele Parkplätze, super nettes Personal, wunderschöne Zimmer und das Bad war einfach genial. Sauberkeit sehr gut. Frühstück das Beste, was wir in 2 Wochen gegessen haben. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Man kann nichts Schlechtes finden.

Good size room and very large comfortable bed. Excellent shower. Friendly staff. Good temperature in rooms which were very clean. Good choice of evening meal. Very friendly welcome at reception, at the bar and by all staff.

Breakfast was disappointing, with no cereals available! Room was a little smelly when we arrived but opening the window soon cleared it. Think extractor fan wasn't working in the showerroom.

Man benötigt ein Kfz (Leih-Kfz), um nach Edinburgh oder zum Flughafen zu fahren. Ca. 25-30 Minuten Die im Bild gezeigte Darstellung, zeigt die heutige Rückseite vom Gebäude, der eigentliche Eingang ist links. Hier liegt ein Garten mit Wiese und Gästebereich. Parkplätze sind genügend vorhanden.

Ein schönes Hotel, ein gemütliches Zimmer, leckeres Essen. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Es war nicht mein erster Aufenthalt im Craigie Hotel. Ich mag es sehr hier. Ein schönes, sauberes Hotel, freundliche Mitarbeiter. Das Frühstück/ Essen ist sehr gut.

Es gibt nichts zu beanstanden.

Das Craigies ist ein schönes, kleines, gemütliches, stilvolles Hotel im netten Örtchen Penicuik. Nette Bar, Biergarten, großzügiger Parkplatz, tolles Frühstück, sehr freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal. Was will man mehr? Vom Hotel aus ist es nur ein Katzensprung zur Bushaltestelle, um sich günstig und bequem nach Edinburgh fahren zu lassen. Klare Empfehlung!

Really poor communication after having to cancel a booking at this hotel. No empathy or willingness to negotiate a refund / partial refund despite being outside of a 48 window,. giving them ample time to get someone new booked into the room. Made no effort to respond to communication via booking.com or emails direct to the hotel. Disappointing overall, despite explaining my unfortunate personal circumstances for the reason I had to cancel, they followed policy to the letter, would not consider booking again.

Die Lage des Hotels mit dem großen Garten ist außergewöhnlich schön.Es gibt viele Parkplätze direkt am Gebäude. E-Ladeplätze sind vorhanden. Die Zimmer sind nett eingerichtet. Es gibt Kaffee und Wasserkocher.Wasser in Flaschen, Teebeutel und Kekse 😋werden täglich aufgefüllt. Kühlschrank und Safe gibt es außerdem. Das Badezimmer ist geräumig mit einer großen Dusche ausgestattet. Zimmerservice ist sehr ordentlich und aufmerksam. Es gibt eine große Frühstücksauswahl. Kein Büffet, Auswahl über Menükarte. Alles wird frisch zubereitet. Im Restaurant haben wir Abends einige Male gegessen. Die Speisenauswahl ist gut und alles sehr lecker. In der Bar kann man den Tag nett ausklingen lassen. Wir hatten auch Glück, Nachmittags mal im schönen Garten sitzen zu können und etwas zu trinken.Das Personal ist rundherum sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir waren 5 Nächte in diesem Hotel und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Man lebt hier ländlich und ist schnell in Edinburgh.

The Craigie hat eine ideale Lage, um mit dem Bus nach Edinburgh zu fahren. Zur Bushaltestelle läuft man keine 5 Minuten. Das Hotelpersonal ist sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich und das Frühstück ist sehr lecker. Man kann sich verschiedene Dinge von der Karte aussuchen. Auch das Dinner im Restaurant war sehr lecker. Die Karte bietet insbesondere schottische Gerichte.

Das Frühstück lässt keine Wünsche offen und man fühlt sich vom ersten Tag an gut aufgehoben. Die Bushaltestelle direkt am Hotel bietet sich vor allem an, wenn man nach Edinburgh will. Der Ortskern von Penicuik ist ebenfalls in 5 min fussläufig erreichbar und die heimischen Wanderwege sind auch schnell erreicht.

Fantastic throughout. Could not complain about anything. All staff were exceptional and the food was amazing. By far the best hotel experience we have encountered in a long time. Exceeded our expectations.

A lovely little hotel about 10 miles outside central Edinburgh, on or very close to several bus routes. The staff were friendly and helpful, and gave us great tips on getting into town by bus. The breakfast options were also excellent and the bar was a welcome treat when we got back after a long day exploring Edinburgh.

There is no lift/elevator so getting heavy luggage upstairs to our room was a little difficult!

I was one of those difficult customers looking to check in early for a wedding and also iron a shirt. The staff went above and beyond to get my room turned round very quickly for me and had the iron all set up for me arriving. It was very much appreciated and made my life significantly easier that day!

Delightful hotel in a quiet area of Penicuik. Perfect for our one night stay aa we were heading north. Friendly staff, comfortable room, good shower, excellent breakfast. Good bar & restaurant with secluded beer garden. Ample parking.

Obwohl das Personal sehr jung ist haben die einen tollen Job gemacht. Zimmer war sauber, was für mich ein Muss ist. Frühstück und Abendessen einfach super.

Das Zimmer müsste etwas renoviert werden. Das Kopfteil vom Bett hat schon bessere Zeiten gesehen und im Schrank vielen die Schubladen schon auseinander. Der Teppich müsste erneuert werden.

Ein wirklich schönes Hotel. Klein und fein. Haben die Zeit da sehr genossen. Waren drei Nächte da. Liegt gut aber trotzdem sehr ruhig. Von da kann man die Pentland Hills sehen. Frühstück wählbar von der Speisekarte. Sogar vegetarisch und vegan.

We found the hotel to be relaxed and comfortable. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were excellent.

A noisy door to the laundry cupboard was a little irritating, however once highlighted to the staff it was resolved quickly.

Wir hatten leider nicht das Zimmer was wir gebucht hatten 19 Quadratmeter plus großes Bett. Es war sehr klein und eng (ca. 12 Quadratmeter), das Bett war 140 cm breit, mein Mann ist 1,85 groß und kräftig, das war schon sehr beengt für uns. Schade

Absolute gem of a hotel. Beautiful decor, huge comfy bed, lovely walk in shower. Bar area and restaurant were well presented, comfortable and served delicious food and drinks (great to see a cocktail menu!). Breakfast was generous and delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Genuinely perfect stay.

Good location for a stop off on our return home from Aberdeen. The hotel and room have recently been refurbished and was clean with a comfortable bed and modern shower room. Heavy curtains which blocked out light. Tea, coffee and biscuits were supplied along with nice toiletries. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast and good service. We also enjoyed an evening meal here.

Small double bed compared to most hotels these days. We paid around double the normal price because the Royal Highland show was on, although we weren't going to the show. This resulted in me giving a lower rating for value for money.

Our family room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, featuring a beautiful view overlooking the beer garden at the Craigie Hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Furthermore, the onsite restaurant serves fantastic food, and ending the evening with a relaxing drink at the bar or out in the beer garden was the perfect way to finish the day.

Really lovely hotel, great decor and a delicious breakfast available with lots of choice. All the staff I met during my stay were really nice and very helpful.

There was a function on the night I arrived so it would've been nice to have been told upon arrival that loud music would be playing from 9.30pm until midnight to save me having to call down to reception to ask about it. Apart from that, great stay.

The location of the hotel was great just a short walk into Penicuik for further amenities. The bus service was excellent and frequent for getting into Edinburgh and surrounding areas.The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and spacious with a wonderful history to the hotel from it's beginning. Evening meals were very tasty along with a good selection for breakfast which you had service for. All the staff were very polite and helpful and happy. Would definitely stay here again when in the area and can recommend.

Craigie was fantastic, very nice and the staff were welcoming and friendly, found the room standard was excellent and both colleagues managed to get excellent nights sleep & were well rested for a 2-day workshop they were delivering

Fantastic rooms which were very well appointed. Restaurant and bar were very good, as were the menu and serving staff who were very attentive. Would definitely recommend if in the area.

We stayed on a rare hot day and the room didn’t have air conditioning, so it got a bit warm to sleep comfortably. Windows could be opened to take the edge off though.

Très bel hôtel dans un cadre paisible, entouré d'arbres. Personnel agréable et très bon restaurant. La chambre était très propre et le lit confortable. Excellents atouts ! Et proche d'espaces naturels où marcher et à 15 minutes en voiture de la Rosslyn Chapel. Je recommande !

Good location, within 30 minutes of the airport. Breakfast was excellent - best choice throughout our stay in Scotland. The staff were fabulous and the room was a decent size.

Bathroom had a very strange smell and there wasn't much by way of toiletries provided, especially in comparison to other hotels we stayed in.

Transportation to Edinburgh is cheap and straightforward. Staff were exceedingly lovely and the breakfast was excellent. The room was fresh and clean with suitable amenities like tea, coffee and lovely shortbread. We’ll be staying here on future trips to Edinburgh. The peace and quiet of Penicuik is welcome after the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh.
