For the money this is a great choice. Clean, Quiet and comfortable. English speaking staff not that plentiful. At least the front desk was awake for my 5am check out which in many places they are not. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Spent 2 nights in this hotel. Overall stay experience was pleasant. The Good: 1. Front office staff - Very friendly and genuinely helpful. They definitely still have a lot of room for improvement. 2. Clean, simple but functional rooms - Just like other HIE properties, you can expect a simple room layout with no frills features, clean surroundings, and nice bathrooms in this particular HIE. I was fortunate to be assigned a room at the middle of the top floor (11/F), which offers great views of the community. Noise insulation was spectacular as no road noises can be heard even though the room was facing a busy road. 3. Breakfast - Already included in the room rate. I was expecting to have breakfast in the Express room, but probably because of hotel operations, we've had breakfast in the adjacent Holiday Inn restaurant on both days of our stay. Call it luck or an upgrade if you will, but I was pretty satisfied with their breakfast selections. 4. Price competitiveness - This property offered the best rates when I booked my stay on the IHG app. You get good value for the price you pay. 5. Relatively new hotel - The hotel feels NEW overall. The Bad: 1. TV channels - Only Chinese shows are being offered, which may disappoint international travellers. Neither Good Nor Bad: 1. Location - Located across the Hangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center and 5-10 minutes walk from Wanda Plaza. That said, there is no nearby Metro Stations, so you only can rely on public bus, taxi, or Didi (Chinese Uber / Grab). There is also an outlet mall being constructed just across the street, so a good place to stay if you want to visit the outlet stores in the near future. To/From Hangzhou Railway Station - around 30mins by taxi, approx CNY 50 per trip. To/From East Hangzhou Railway Station - around 30mins by taxi, approx CNY 60 per trip. 2. Location, again - While it's a good thing that Holiday Inn Express Gongshu is located just next to Holiday Inn Gongshu, this causes a lot of confusion for taxi drivers as they can't distinguish Holiday Inn (假日酒店) from Holiday Inn Express (智选假日酒店). You have to be patient explaining this to the drivers in order to drop you off at the right property. Suggestion to the hotel management: Please put up more clear signs within the vicinity to direct flow of traffic. I've been a fan of HIE because I love their no-frills low cost business model, so this is another great stay for me.

This was my first time to China after several day bad experience with other hotel so I decide to try some thing I trust in US. Front desk staffs are well trained and love to help you in any way with fullly smiles. First I went to wrong building (holiday inn in behind) but a door man helped me to take my 29 inches luggage for me and guided me to this holiday inn express. Breakfast is above average but no milk for your coffee and cereals but you can request. If I go back to Hangzhou then I will stay here again. It is well worth every penny you spent on this hotel. But one more thing you do need to concern is location. It is far away from tourist area suck as west lake and you will need to take taxi or bus to go. You can download Budo map to help you to take public transportations. I love this hotel. Wish they have refrigerator in the room and microwave in the public dinning area.

Good news: Danny, the manager really believes in customer service. We could not find the hotel; its new. Taxi didn't know where it was. We were a little upset when we finally arrived in the lobby. Enter Danny. He was understanding and took care of us. Upgraded us, Welcome drink tickets and just a "do what it takes" attitude. The view? I am sure its a great view on a sunny day. Weather was cold and rainy. It is February after all. The room? a mini suite and very comfortable. Big bed, great pillows. Black out curtains did their job. A little quirk: no waste basket in the bathroom. Room has an umbrella, iron and ironing board. Nice touch - wall electrical outlets have USB jacks. Breakfast buffet is standard fare - included in the price. Room service menu just right and service was quick. Don't worry about communication as the front desk staff and restaurant manager speak at least English and Chinese. We were there during Chinese New Year. Just like any day in China, if you're not into crowds, you might want to vacation elsewhere. Not so good: No one at the hotel could give the taxi driver directions to the hotel. Simple landmarks in the neighborhood like Wanda Plaza a 5 minute walk away would have helped. Not one of them told us that the HI Express check in lobby was closed and to go to the HI right next door. West Lake and other sites are a healthy taxi ride. Expedia could have clued us in on that morsel with the confirmation of the reservation.

The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed.
