The Mango

Calm and nice

Quite enviroment.Isolation. Serving meals.Quick responding .

Servise of facility

De man die alles regelde, biertje, cola, dagtour, tuk tuks en heerlijk eten maakte

De ‘natte cel’ is niet echt schoon ( te krijgen) verouderd en rioolvliegjes, mag wel wat opgeknapt.

So 3 of us booked the guest house and it was lovely,it reminded me of a colonial bungalow,it was a short tuk tuk up in the hills form the main town, but that was not a problem as the staff would order a tuk tuk and I think it was 1usd into town,it was just so peaceful and the food was so cheap, and the size of the food was unbelievable,I would give this guest house was a 11 out of 10 . I travel a lot,157 countries so far and I wish more owners would take pride like this mad does,I will be back

Nothing

Super clean and everything was excellent and the staff was so good

The space, the house, the rooms are just simply amazing.

Nothing to add here.

Amazing property, peaceful and quite. The caretaker was super nice

WiFi not working and little up the hill

After reading other reviews and looking at pictures, we were very disappointed by our stay here. Upon arrival at the property, we had to wait to be greeted. When We walked into the property, all of the curtains were shut, and it was very dark and had a strange vibe. When we were shown to our room, it was in a bleak state. The bathroom needed repair and overall the room was not clean. I had to plug my charger in under the bed and you could tell that it had not been cleaned properly in a long time. We were only given one towel and there was no toilet roll. the view out of the window is onto a balcony filled with lots of junk. I did not find the hosts helpful and struggled to get into town due to no wifi and bad service. I asked if they could arrange a tuk tuk to take us but this wasn’t offered and luckily I got enough 4G for an uber. The radio was played all day and all night so I woke in the night because of this. we didn’t even sleep under the covers because we didn’t feel that it would be clean enough . in the morning, We went to leave around 8:30 however, there was no one to be found so we unlocked the external gates ourselves and left. This is such a shame because from other reviews, it seems that people have had a great stay here with welcoming hosts and I can see that the property has potential however we definitely would not recommend it in its current state.

Better location

Really cool place. Great staff and an excellent place to stay. Rooms are clean. Nice outside area to sit and chill.

Friendly staff

Wi-Fi didn’t work for either of us. Ordered vegetarian meal which came and wasn’t vegetarian. Not very comfortable bed & pillow

Food was Literally very bad and the staff were not to our expectation.

The worker there was super cool, he advised us what to see and could arrange us a tour. You can get food there. The hostel is located on a cool spot up the hill.

The windows were a little bit loose and bc. of the wind was a little bit cold in the room but it was not a problem (and probably happens only in the rainy season).

Loved the property, staff were very warm and friendly. Breakfast was excellent and so was the location to sit and eat it in.

The host did say it was on a mountain and many people don't like that. I agree with him and I was glad to have an experienced driver take me up there.

The location is close to the Kandy city. The house itself is really nice looking and seems to be a villa. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing. The staff is really helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacy and the beds are comfortable. I didn't use Wifi so can't comment on that. The hot-water system is working perfectly.

The location is on top of a hill. Even though it's near the city it takes a windy and steep route to get to the hotel. Our vehicle had a tough time to climb the road. Fortunately a local helped us to take the vehicle up to the location. Would be great if the owners mention that in their description.

We immediately felt at home in this beautiful place, the host was very helpful and we will come back for sure. Rooms are clean and spacious. Thank you Vindi and Chaarda!

Room was not clean at all. Hairs everywhere on the bed .Meals are not provided by the property. No drinking water provided. Not recommended 👎

Very peaceful and Home-like. Helpful staff

The host was kind and attentive. He helped me with everything.I warmly recommend it.

The breakfast could be a little more varied.

They Are Cheaters. This place is not suited for Locals and is very unsafe. We returned our money through the police.

Friendly staff

No

Massive room and super chilled place. The host is very young and happy to help you out with anything you need

It's roughly 15 minutes to town with a tuk tuk. Keep in mind you'll need a vehicle to go around

Nice room in a very warm and cozy house. We stayed just one night and everything was perfect. Breakfast was super good in a balcony facing the nature. Special thanks to the co-host, Siri - the purrrrrrry cat

Nothing - everything was great

The atmosphere and location

Very calm and plesant

Everything is fabulous. Hereafter we'll meet often. Thank you Amra. Staff are excellent. I love the interior. Tea and coffee was amazing. ❤❤❤😍😍😍😍. Hope can meet Vindi by my next visit.

Clean and vibrant quirky property full of owners memorabilia! Monkeys on your doorstep. Friendly helpful staff. Ok breakfast

Quite a walk from anywhere. But they do arrange tuk tuk when you first arrive and pick me works for anywhere else or a walk to main road on main bus line

very beautiful place

The breakfast was excellent.

Very helpful and hospitable staff.. calm and quiet environment with a homely feeling..

When you visit this place you will feel like you are in a typical srilankan home instead of a hotel. Cozy and worm place to chill wiith your loved ones. Vindi is running a one man show there, but overall expirience is good. If you want calm and quite place, the mango is best place.

Room were not sound proof. That's the only thing which i found as bad.

It was grand for 1 night. The owner is very helpful and sorted out dinner for us. Beautiful scenery 😊

Amazing spot ! Nature and quiet but close to the city ! Amazing owner and staff that gave the best tips and vibes 🙏 super grateful

the location is just like heaven

The manager was helpful and kind, even though there was a miscommunication about our dinner he proposed us to order us one via PickMe and also added more data to the internet when we found out that we could only use social media (and this was not stated on booking). Thanks for your support :) The common areas are very nice, I really enjoyed the courtyard! And the house itself has a vibe. You can love it or hate it though - since it's also a bit "vintage". The breakfast was huge and tasty. Loved it! The owner of the place, Vindi, is also a character, but I believe part of the fun is also this! :) Plus, if you are a music enthusiast I believe he has a lot to share !

The room could get a revamp. It is old and kind of dusty, with a very old bathroom and furniture. With a few adjustments it could easily match the rest of the place!

Lovely location, good and helpful staff, very nice stay.

The hospitality is good, They treated me really well.

Great place to stay, lovely house and great hospitality. Would definitely recommend

The place is awesome. Next level!!! Also Amara was really supportive and helpful

The best part about the property is it is very quiet, clean & spacious. Special mention for the staff person - “Amar”, he was very very helpful throughout our stay.

Nothing as such. One very minor suggestion - please look if little ventilation space can be added to room without opening windows otherwise everything was perfect.

It was really affordable, nice staff, we could rent a scooter so the location was not a problem after all

Vindi and his employee are very kind. We got a lot of informations and tipps. Even for our next stop in Sigiriya. The Mango is a very nice place to stay, we really appreciated the two days. There was always some nice background music and a chill area. On our last day, Vindi dropped us at the bus stop and showed us the right bus for our way to Sigiriya. Thank you Vindi :)

Exceptional breakfast, very friendly host and nice accomodation.

The rooms could have been a little cleaner.

The guy at the hostel is so friendly. They also have a nice tuk tuk driver that can arrange a full day tour for a good price. The accommodation is ok.

good

Breakfast was great!!

Bathroom. Water was filling up very slowly in the water closet (commode)

I totally like the way how they have setup .

Nothing really here to say coz it was good value for the money.

Located at the top of the

The view is stunning and the room is very nice

Nothing, everything was very good just the wifi didn’t really work too well

an amazing place , calm , green and friendly staff ! Amara helped me a lot during my stay he is super nice , calm and friendly!! thank you its a bit far from the center but sheap to get tuktuk from pick me ! it worth the stay! i will come back and i recommend

rooms were clean and the staff member called “Amara” was so friendly and helpful.

Big room, Comfortable bed, very nice Host, Huge Breakfast, Quiet nice House, 25min walking into town ( road gets quiet steep ), they can arrange tuktuks

Wifi didn't worked, HundredsAnts crawling on Bathroomwalls, At last day the Breakfastbread was Moldy. Lot of Mosquitoes outside. Scorpion was walking at nighttime through the livingroom

You come for the incredible hospitality, tranquil outdoor spaces to escape the city and a plentiful Sri Lankan breakfast

I appreciate it’s humid here but the rooms felt damp, everything we owned felt wet by the end The room is somewhere to sleep only, not a space to hang but luckily there’s outdoor areas instead!

Absolutely loved our stay at The Mango. The Hotel sits atop a steep hill with wide verandah's looking out over the green garden. This green much cooler than the coast oasis has been the best find! Yes if you walk as we have done, it is hilly but very manageable. Our room was very comfortable and a good size, upon arrival it was sparkling clean.. Our host Vindi has been awesome he's off site currently but has answered our questions, organised Ayurvedic Treatments and a very good hairdresser for us. He told us upon checkin to feel like The Mango is our home.. it very much does feel like a home. Onsite Amara has been a wonderful welcoming host, who ensures your stay is very comfortable. Would recommend The Mango for a chilled, relaxed stay where you receive excellent service. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay!

Wow nice place . Parking available Best place to stay .

It's just a wonderful place. My train was delayed and arrived later than I expected, but the guys met me, took me to the house, and they even had a couple of bottles of beer for me. The house is a little away from the busy area (but very close for a quick tuk tuk ride downtown), so here you can relax in the quiet and cozy atmosphere of this house, and also listen to the good music that's playing here.

Everything here is great.

The Mango is a nice place to relax since it‘s pretty quiet and has a big terrace :) Vindi and the staff were the best, really helpful and taking us around Kandy. We had such a nice time!

The Mango is a little further from the city, but with a Tuktuk it’s no problem getting around :) The tap in the bathroom wasn‘t working and there were a lot of little ants

The host was friendly and breakfast was generous. It was lovely to feel like you're in the middle of the jungle. The room was very spacious and the shower had hot water. I would recommend this place for younger travellers and probably more suited to those travelling in groups.

The room had a damp/mouldy smell. The bed wasn't comfortable.

the owner and the costumer service is really good and superb vibe in all place really enjoyed and service is superb 😃👍🏼

amazing

Very nice place, big and spacious. It looks like an old tropical plantage house. Very beautiful. Big rooms and good facilities. The host is a helpfull guy who makes big and good breakfast. We liked it there.

Value for money..Great Place.

We had a short stay at The Mango but enjoyed it a lot! The room was spacious and nice. You find yourself a bit outside of the city and in the nature, so you escape the traffic noise and stress you can experience in Kandy. The owner is a cool, friendly and caring guy. Therefore we can honestly recommend to stay at this place!

Very comfortable and affordable accommodation. this guest house had so much personality !!!! Vindi and staff were extremely helpful putting us in touch with great tour guides and helping with train tickets.

I had an excellent stay the staff were fantastic from when I arrived to when I left. If you want to relax and chill out this is the place.

No bad things to say about the property.
