Provider-sourced guest reviews.
What an amazing place to stay and chill. The views from mango room veranders, the infinitey pools, and the restaurant are all breath taking. The sounds of the forest is epic, saw parrots too. The beds are so comfy, the food the people - everything was brilliant. We also enjoyed our stroll with the gardener, we learnt so much about trees and fruit. We loved it all. We hope to stay here again.
This is a great hotel but the best part is the staff. They were all so friendly and always willing to help and address every one of our needs or concerns. The hotel is well laid out for privacy and has a host of amenities such as a shared pool and our favourite, fruit trees that you are free to pick from. My friends and I all enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.
phenomenal hotel, with some of the most beautiful views i’ve ever encountered! i will be telling everyone abt my stay here, the food was amazing and the hospitality and ambiance was great!
Quiet cozy in the countryside with a great view
It’s such a beautiful location and wonderful views it’s tranquil tucked away in the hills. I don’t doubt the other reviews but for us the customer service wasn’t quite there. It seems they had over committed to prioritising a bigger group. We had booked in advance but were not notified until we arrived in the resort of a children’s graduation party. It was an event for about 50 children who when not eating were left to run feral running around by the lounger and running up to our bungalow window waving. We were advised it was a small event but went on for all of the afternoon. The meal was pre arranged and set but nowhere were there prices. It was also a little confusing as prices were $ but sometimes ECD and sometimes US think they use this to their advantage. We met another couple who had a similar discussion in their check out so this wasn’t something that just spotted by us. A shame As per the other review the mosquitoes are immense good netting in ave but need something by the pool that put us off swimming and bathing much
I had a wonderful and relaxing vacation at Mt Edgecombe Boutique Hotel this month. The manager Ms Karlene, and her staff Shekira,Roselyn, and everyone working there made sure they took care of me as if I was at their house. My daily trip was arranged and I had a wonderful driver Aldon. He made sure I saw Grenada with a lot of pride. Thank you everyone for all your tender loving care.
Firstly I’d like to highlight the excellent customer service at this hotel. As a gay couple coming to Grenada we knew we would need to be careful/respectful of local culture. At no time did we feel unsafe or unwelcome which put us at ease straight away. The staff really can’t do enough for u and although I don’t have any names I’d say this was across the board without exception. Although only 2 other guests while we were there off season there was always staff around ready to help. The second thing is the stunning scenery surrounding the hotel which was literally spectacular with the noise of the rain forest all around and coming alive at night, a once in a lifetime experience to live amongst this for a few days. Beautiful little lizards, birds and other creatures all around. The hotel itself has a nice restaurant and although they give u a menu with prices it is included with TUI that we travelled with for breakfast always cooked fresh. The cocktails were plentiful and not stingy on measures! The room itself was rustic. As described in other reviews the bed was always clean and comfortable with a large rnsuite bathroom and a lovely big veranda complete with hammock. The downsides, which were minor but I think u need to be prepared for. The bugs, particularly the mosquitos are next level! We had bug spray but we’re still eaten alive and had some nasty bites. This is nothing the hotel can control it’s just the environment so expect that when u go. The location, as spectacular as it is it’s very remote. Again we knew that going in and had hired a car, but the roads are very narrow, winding, steep and pot holed making the experience of driving quite hair raising to say the least, again nothing within the control of the hotel and I know they do support local tour guides and will happily arrange trips for u if u prefer not to drive. All in all a once in a lifetime stay for us and we’d like to say a massive thank you to all the Edgecombe staff.
Very clean , friendly ppl .
My wife and I came over from the UK for a 12 day north and south trip for our combined wedding anniversary and my 50th birthday. We stayed for our first 3 nights at this hotel in order to acclimatise and recharge ourselves after the flight. Despite a later evening arrival, we were greeted and fed. It was much needed. We came over at the end of their summer season in mid May so were probably one of a few couples there. This hotel is based on an old cocoa plantation estate and boasts a small team of around 14 staff, all of whom go out of their way to make your stay really special. It is quite remote and the perfect place to come and relax is total tranquility. The balcony views and two small infinity pools offer a real chance to recharge your batteries. There is parking available near the grounds a short walk from reception so ideal as a base for any guests wanting to drive and explore. The food on site was naturally traditional grenadian cuisine and first class. Cooked all on site by their team of chefs with most ingredients sourced from the actual estate itself. Fruit eggs etc. We had a wonderful suite which was cleaned everyday by Rosalyn as and when we needed her. No rush. Everything was done on Grenadian time. Thanks to the bar staff especially Shaquira and Siobhan for their evening care and service. I would recommend two things for travellers wanting to stay. Firstly, bring some insect repellant spray for the night times as the mosquitoes are around, and secondly, ear plugs are handy (for light sleepers) to drown out the crickets outside at night. My wife and I always come prepared as any traveller should do to warm climates. We had the best sleep here and the bed was so comfy with mosquito nets in place and air con and fans in the room. I cannot rate this hotel highly enough and we will definitely be returning again in the future. You can't improve on perfection and this is a hidden gem.
I had a wonderful stay at Mount Edgecomb. It is like a secret garden. But if you are expecting a sterile American hotel resort experience go somewhere else. This is a perfect place for those looking to relax and have modern comforts while surrounded by beautiful Grenada nature.
Staff is amazing and very helpful
This place is truly something special, we took ourselves on a journet aroynd tge Island and this was one of our best stops on the jouurney. Fantastically friendly and helpful staff too
Good but not great restaurant limits overall appeal. No printed menu, limited choices, out of stock of some items. Food is of decent quality and quite reasonably priced. Could use a more creative, flavorful approach. Grounds are beautiful, rooms are great. Staff is AMAZING, friendly and helpful.
The Edgecomb is lovely if you just want to stay at the hotel and relax as it's very secluded with amazing views.i would say more suited to couples rather than adult children who would rather go on excursions than just sit around the hotel.
The hotel was so very comfortable and the staff super helpful and friendly. It was so relaxing, loved the pools and both breakfast and dinner options were delicious! Best shrimp I’ve had on the island! We loved our room, it was cool and spacious with a fabulous view. Felt very lucky to spend time there.
The views are lovely as are the Staff without exception
Lovely place to stay a mile from Victoria. The staff are amazing and the views and sunsets are glorious.
Beautiful setting, nice comfortable rooms. The restaurant view is spectacular, and the food was excellent. The staff was very friendly.
We spent five nights here during the first part of our Grenadian vacation. The hotel is located about an hour from St. George’s - so we wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you’re not willing to rent a car. It did take us a while to get to certain attractions from this hotel, so I’m glad we split it up into two parts (staying five nights here and two nights in St. George’s). I was a weenie once I saw the traffic but luckily my husband is a fantastic driver and quickly got used to driving on the left on roads that sometimes reminder us of a Mario Kart course. There was one afternoon when we did not want to drive into the city as we knew we would be drinking and Carlene (the hotel manager) was kind enough to arrange a taxi for us. This was a great jumping off point for touring the northern part of the island. We checked out Leapers Hill and River Antoine Rum Distillery. The rum distillery was one of the highlights of our trip and it was very cool to watch an 18th century river-powered water wheel crush sugarcane. The hotel itself is like taking a trip back in time. It is absolutely beautifully landscaped and the grounds are lush and green. Every morning you wake up to the sound of birds chirping in the trees. We stayed in Nutmeg One which has a gorgeous balcony looking out over the ocean across the trees. The room is somewhat rustic - wood shutters, clawfoot tub, unfinished wood floors, beautiful antique secretary desk - which was nice. The king bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It had air conditioning which we appreciated on some of those hot days! Breakfast was included and was always cooked to perfection. We really liked the local egg and bean quesadilla! We also ate at the hotel restaurant every night we were there. We are both pescatarian and the chef did a nice job coming up with different options for us that we could eat (in addition to the nightly fish, we were also offered marinated tofu, creamy polenta, pasta, delicious veggies, the freshest salad, etc.) and the drinks were strong and reasonably priced. Mount Edgecombe has two infinity pools adjacent to one another which look like something out of a movie. The pools were clean and cool. There were not a lot of people at the hotel when we were there, so we had the pool areas to ourselves when we wanted to swim. Carlene and her staff are working hard to make sure this hotel provides the upmost in customer service.
What a lovely stay at the hotel we enjoyed it very much and the pool area was especially welcoming after a hot day exploring Grenada. The staff were welcoming and friendly and made our stay very comfortable. The location is just beautiful they had little trail you can walk behind the hotel and they had a family of tortoises that we can see everyday. Which was a nice surprise and our family liked it very much. The only thing I would say about this location is that there were not much options for food in the surrounding areas. But I guess we were there at the low season so maybe not many places were opened. But if you wanted to see a more quiet part of the island this is the perfect location to stay.
The service was unsatisfactory
The staff were amazing & very helpful. The pools & views were breathtaking & the food & drinks were good as well. Definitely plan on revisiting & bringing family and friends to experience such a peaceful getaway.
This property is exquisite - the staff are so friendly and the food delicious. Views of sunset are spectacular!
Mount Edgecombe is the type of place that might actually make us visit a country more than once! My family of 5 had the most magical week in the home on the property which felt like a step back in time and a museum inside. It was beyond perfect with a fully stocked enormous kitchen, the most amazing wrap around deck over looking the lush greens and water, air conditioned bedrooms, pool table, crisp linens, and sparkling clean - I could go on and on. The food was delicious and the kitchen was very accommodating if you just were looking for a lighter meal or snack. We miss the staff dearly; they were the absolute sweetest to my family and a large reason we would consider returning. The children helped picked eggs, visited the turtle spa, bird watched, hunted for all kinds of tropical fruits, ran around barefoot and just enjoyed being children. Most of the the guests were couples traveling and thankfully seemed to welcome little ones roaming the property. One point that stands out is that I had mentioned one day I wished the house had a blender to make smoothies before breakfast for the little ones with all the fruits we had gathered. The next day a brand new blender was waiting for us. To me that was service that went up and beyond. I think you can get the point that if you are looking for off the beaten path, hidden gem, delicious food, eco friendly type of place Mount Edgecombe is it. Every night at dinner we still talk about how magical Grenada and Mount Edgecombe is. We miss you all! A & J and family!
This boutique hotel was in the ideal location for our stay, mainly to walk in the grounds and spot the variety of wildlife which included tropical birds, colourful butterflies and even Grenadian mongoose. We were provided with a newly refurbished Mango lodge which was spacious and comfortable including aircon. There was also a private balcony with space to relax and watch the surrounds. A great view towards the sea. The restaurant was spacious with open sides. Meals were well cooked. The majority of seasonal fruit was grown on the estate, A choice of chicken, fish and pork was given at dinner together with a variety of sides. The desserts were heaven, particularly the homemade ice cream. Particularly enjoyed the guava, soursop and sorrel flavours. A ‘Spice Trail’ was marked around the grounds and informative signs indicated the species of trees along its route. All in all we had a wonderful week at this location. The current management have only been in situ about 5 months and the staff have several ideas to improve the guest experience. Special thanks to all the staff we met, including Carlene, Nykia, Lynette Williams (Housekeeping), Wilson Williams (Gardener) and not forgetting Khalid (Bartender/Waiter). Everyone was extremely courteous with infectious laughs!
A special place! A beautiful old Plantation House with additional suites in the beautifully converted drying sheds (one of which we stayed in), a restaurant in the Great Room with stunning rainforest and sea views, and luxuriant grounds. Our room had a four-poster with mosquito nets, fans (but there was a lovely light breeze), a large bathroom, old fashioned furniture and a large balcony overlooking the rainforest and the sea. It was relaxed and low key rather than glamorous, and felt particularly special as there were only 4-5 other couples there when we stayed. The infinity pools are totally stunning, and a real joy to swim in. Carlene and her friendly staff were delightful and looked after us really well; plenty of cocktails and delicious local cuisine, helpful local advice, and the housekeeper checking each morning if we needed anything. We really enjoyed the Spice Trail round the extensive grounds, the mangos we could pick up and eat, the baby tortoises, and the beautiful flora. We also enjoyed using Mount Edgecombe as a base for exploring the north of Grenada (we hired a car in St George's), including visiting 3 chocolate estates, the rum distillery, nutmeg museum, Fish Friday in Gouyave, Leapers Hill, Concord Falls and the Breadfruit Festival in Victoria. Very special!
This place is a world away from anywhere you've likely to have experienced before. Set up at the edge of the forest, its a snapshot of life as a privileged visitor to a plantation. It's been modernised throughout but you can still see the evidence of all the hard work put in by slaves. From the dipping pools there's magnificent views down to the sea. Food is authentic Grenadan, with a home-cooked feel
This place is like nowhere anyone will have experienced before. Its not actually that far from the nearest towns but it feels worlds away. Originally built by slaves on the edge of the forest, its been modernised to facilitate all essential needs. The garden is made up of mature shrubs and trees which is enjoyed by plentiful birdlife. The forest walk takes you past an incredible variety of plantation trees and bushes. A real taste of Colonial life
Our week-long stay in one of the Nutmeg Suites of this beautiful hotel was everything we had hoped for. The hotel is secluded, gorgeous and peaceful. We enjoyed quiet time swinging and snoozing on the hammock on our private terrace, overlooking the plantation and the ocean. We loved eating on the terrace with the beautiful view of the icean. The food was great; each meal providing at least a little sample of the local flavour. There were different homemade ice creams almost every night, with unusual flavours (nutmeg ice cream...yum!) The staff were always friendly and attentive. Special mention to Carlene who arranged our transportation, tours and even found us a secluded beach to spend an afternoon. Siobhan and Nicki also deserve special mention; they were so friendly and seemed to go out of their way to ensure that we had a great experience. We would highly recommend Mount Edgecomb enjoy and explore the wonderful island of Grenada.
We had booked for transportation through the staff to the hotel from Saint Georges. It was a perfect little getaway. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our room had the most beautiful view (nutmeg 1). Next time we come to Grenada we'll spend most of our time here
Staff were Uber attentive and created a relaxed and spoiling atmosphere. Old World charm. Very laid back but every detail had been thought through. Spectacular views from pool / terrace/ room balcony.
My 4 day stay at Mt. Edgecombe was the perfect way to kick off my month long stay in Grenada. Next time I will definitely stay longer. This was a family vacation. My sister and our 2 young sons. We miss our morning walks along the spice trail and plucking mangoes at anytime to snack on. We miss the poolside views and lovely meals. Most of all we wise the people. As beautiful as the property is, I can’t praise the staff enough. They really are the heart of Mt. Edgecombe. Everyone we met went out of their way to make our stay special. Best service I have received while traveling.
My wife and I spent three nights at this wonderful, beautiful gem of a place. We absolutely loved it and would heartily recommend it as a great location to chill out in magnificent surroundings, in the care of a wonderful staff (special call-out to Ronchell who is a great ambassador both for Mr Edgecombe and for Grenada) led admirably by Kevin who was everything you would want in a host: friendly, knowledgeable and able to sort anything. Highlights were plentiful, ranging from lounging by the pool with a rum punch, to marvellous dining (the food was excellent so big thanks to the kitchen staff!) in a relaxed environment, to wandering through the Spice Trail with its lush green surroundings and fantastic trees and plants, as well as dining out with the locals at Fish Friday in Gouyave. Will definitely be back when back in Grenada and heartily recommend. Thanks Mount Edgecombe for a brilliant stay!
Mount Edgecombe was the perfect base to explore the tropical North of the island. The friendliest team, offering a very personalised experience, and completely off the beaten track. I’ll miss morning coffee poolside, cooling sunset dips, fruits picked fresh from the estate’s plantation (from field to fork within a couple of minutes) and falling asleep to the sounds of the rainforest. My son will miss saying good morning to the tortoise family, feeding them mangoes, collecting eggs from the chickens and drowning his breakfast in nutmeg syrup. Highlights in the area included waterfalls to deserted beaches, a tree to bar chocolate experience at Jouvray Factory and the idyllic setting of Armadillo, acclaimed by National Geographic - an unexpected hidden gem. Seating 6 people from within chef Bernie’s idyllic kitchen garden, I’ll dream of the blue marlin tartare and lime pie.
This place is absolutely breathtaking and amazing. My family and I visited there yesterday to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The service , scenery, food, drinks and most of all the staff was delightful. All five stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ to this establishment. It was indeed a remarkable experience. Mount Edgecombe Grenada take a bow. Thank you for a day well spent!!! If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life and enjoy a little bit of quiet time this is the place for you.
We were fortunate to spend TWO WEEKS enjoying all of the peace, beauty and kind and personalized service that Mt. Edgecomb has to offer. If you enjoy hyper-local food items (from the property itself), a view to die for and having your own favorites put in front of you every day (Rum old fashioned? Check! Perfectly poached eggs from the chickens down the path? Check! Fish every day, because after all you are in Grenada? Check...) then head to Mt. Edgecomb for a true and special holiday! The level and customization of service here is something truly special, so we wanted to thank every member of the Mt. Edgecomb team for their great work - groundskeepers, chefs, housekeepers and servers. Special shout-outs to Shevon (evening server and creative bartender), Ronshell and Thalifa (daytime servers, remembered everything!) Joseph, Chrissy and Destiny for your fresh and local cooking, and Lynette for clean and lovely surroundings, along with Joseph, Wello, Roslyn, Wilson, and Jamie. And to General Manager Kevin for coming on board here and taking the place to the next level of vision and enjoyment - not to mention taking us to the Saturday "hash" walk/run/party for an extra bonus. A true team of experts and hard, caring workers showing and sharing the spirit of Grenada and Mt. Edgecomb. This is an especially good place to visit if like us you decide to bring along your computer for a bit of the "digital nomad" existence. Internet is flawless, the back patios in the Spice House sure beat our offices, and you can blend the setting, weather and service with a longer stay just by working on some of your days there. However you choose to plan and pull off a visit, you will be welcomed by a wonderful place!
This is the Caribbean paradise I had always dreamed of but didn't think still existed . . . nestled high up in the jungle above the sea. A boutique-sized operation (8 beds, with a few more on their way) with a full staff, full-service restaurant and bar, two infinity pools, a gorgeous walking loop trail through part of their 20+ acre spice estate. More than anything else, we felt "at home" here. Got to know many of the employees, including some of their families. Like a luxury all-inclusive, everything is catered to your schedule, preferences, etc. Unlike your typical "luxury" all-inclusive, this place has CHARACTER. Mount Edgecombe is a former spice plantation, and much of the original architecture, furniture, etc. is still in use. Nothing at Mount Edgecombe is bland, cookie-cutter, or generic. Joseph, Chrissy, and the rest of the culinary team prepare delicious (and honestly pretty nutritious) meals with local ingredients. Breakfast (included in price of room) always includes 1–2 Grenadian-type options (saltfish souse, coconut bakes, etc.) as well as made to order eggs, bacon, etc. — and always fresh fruit, often from the hotel's grounds. Lunch and dinner is generally a traditional Grenadian "plate" meal (veg, starch, and protein of your choice) — I recommend fish whenever it's in — but they also do special dinners (curry night, lobster, etc.). And you can get burgers, fish sandwiches, salads, etc. Desserts are great and they have a well-stocked bar with local rums and more. I loved the location — way up north, far from the crowds, but still with a western view (sunsets). Note there is NOT a beach on site (you're uphill from the road in the jungle) but there are beaches nearby. I really enjoyed walking/jogging north into the lovely small town of Victoria where there are a couple of bars/restaurants (Cocoa Pod, Shy's), brand new Nutmeg Museum, and, another 15min walk uphill, the Jouvay (Diamond) chocolate factory. Say hi to John di Bush and buy some of his art just as you get into Victoria! We stayed 9 nights, half in a Nutmeg Suite (in the former cocoa/nutmeg processing building) and half in the former plantation house. The suite was way bigger than the pictures make it look, with high ceilings, great breeze through the cross ventilation, original furniture and details, private deck, and shared front porch. The house was jaw-dropping. (4 bed, 3 bath but we only used one of the BRs.) Wraparound veranda, period architectural detailing, etc. Unreal. Overall, Mount Edgecombe is like a secret Eden. There's not much "to do" in the traditional sense (clubs, tourist attractions, etc.), but that just brings the breathtaking scenery and relaxing vibe more into focus. The former GM of Mount Cinnamon (one of the island's best luxury hotels — in Grand Anse) has just moved to Edgecombe and has already begun making subtle but key improvements to the facilities and service. Will absolutely be returning ASAP.
A short drive out of busy St George up the west coast leads to the lovely boutique hotel Mount Edgecombe. A perfect tranquil base for exploring the many sights within a fairly short drive from the hotel: Grand Étang National Park, Concord Waterfalls, Seven Sisters waterfalls, town of Victoria (10 min away) with the Nutmeg Museum & the Diamond Chocolat Factory (Jouvay Chocolat), petroglyphs, as well as nearby beaches. The hotel grounds also offer the added bonus of their own amazing walking trail! The well maintained footpath lets you explore their significant plantings (many labelled) of cacao, nutmeg, a variety of mango trees, bamboo, crotons, palms, gorgeous flowering perennials and so much more. It’s a bird watchers paradise with a wide variety to spot, along with green parakeets and some resident peacocks. The hotel itself is set up on the hill and offers spectacular views of the sea - sunsets are dazzling! The dining area overlooks the sea and lovely infinity pool (perfect spot to spend an afternoon). The rooms are spotless, well thought out with excellent linens, very comfortable beds, and a huge balcony with gorgeous views (Nutmeg #1 has the best view). Food is flavourful and delicious, well prepared with a Caribbean flair. Wifi surprisingly excellent, never once had an issue all week. Staff, headed by the newly arrived GM Kevin, is personalized and truly exceptional. They were, without fail, always charming and accommodating. Excellent value for the money and we thank the whole team for making our first week in Grenada a delight!
Stayed here for part of our honeymoon through Grenada. It was an incredible hotel and all around one of the best travel experiences I have ever had. It does require an adventurous mindset to reach the hotel. The drive up to the north part of the island is long and not easy. But you are rewarded with an amazing welcome upon arriving. We were greeted personally by the owner, and check in consisted of a lovely conversation on the patio couches with a welcome rum punch. The views down to the ocean are stunning, and the outdoor lobby/restaurant is above the trees, which gives you an exhilarating rainforest and mountain feel. We stayed in the nutmeg room, which had a large bed and very comfortable linens. The room was on the smaller side, but it featured a decent sized bathroom and a very large patio with a hammock and views of the Caribbean. No air conditioning in our room, but we did not need it at all. There is a powerful fan and the mountain/ocean breeze was always at a perfect nighttime temperature. The location is breathtaking, but I was most impressed with the service. The staff genuinely enjoys helping create lifelong travel memories for you. The food was excellent. Incredibly fresh, and just simply excellent. The property isn't a five star luxury hotel, but the staff go out of their way to attend to every detail and every request of the guest. I will never forget my stay here, and it is a once-in-a-lifetime travel experience that sets the gold standard for what boutique hotels should be like.
Excellent host, Kevin, had all the answers for many questions. Staff was happy and friendly; servers, chef, housework staff. Loved our resort cat we named Sly who kept us company. Grounds and views are breath-taking. Infinity pools, lovely! Beautiful getaway in exotic setting. A glimpse of paradise!
The accommodation was perfect, the staff very friendly and the excellent food authentic Caribbean - how could you not enjoy it all. The hotel, on the western side of the island was quiet, so perfect if you want some peace; you can get a bus at the end of the drive to explore the island's delightful little towns, and if you enjoy walking, hire a driver and explore the Grand Etang National Park - there is so much to see.
Very quaint and eco friendly
The setting is beautiful and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. It is an ideal location to relax and the staff can organise tours round the island using their local well informed taxis at a fraction of the cost of organised tours. Also ideal as a two centre holiday to see the northern part of the island and then mix with a beachy hotel ( of which there are many) Suggest you contact general manager Kevin , who is very knowledgeable on the island and he will share his experience.
Peaceful
We can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. The staff treated us with a level of relaxed kindness, grace and thoughtfulness that clearly is just naturally who they are. Joseph’s food was spectacular and created around what interested us. They even made a surprise drink for us around a fruit we had asked about on the property. SO good. We loved the clean comfortable large rooms and pools. We will be back.
Mount Edgecombe was a fantastic property to stay at overnight. Really enjoyed the pools, as well as the lovely dinner with a view! Would highly recommend to anyone, either for a meal or a stay :)
Very peaceful place. Very hard to get food however. Very limited options and times you are allowed to eat. Probably because of the supply chain issues I would assume but check first if that is something that would bother you.
