An enchanted garden right on the Camino. Magical even with the pouring rain. Rooms extra clean and tidy, with a special charm. Breakfast tasty and healthy, kind and helpful staff. Highly recommended, it really was something else!

Located directly on the Camino Santiago, this was a lovely respite after hot days' walking. It's an upscale, countryside experience and was a welcome treat! It was very quiet when we stayed - only one other couple on site. We loved the evening honor bar, relaxing stroll around the property, glass enclosed shower and bidet in our room, and the breakfast the next morning. Staff was accommodating, friendly and patient (we added a surprise stop to our Camino and didn't realize it would make us so late), even helping us get a last minute taxi when our Bolt drivers kept canceling on us. It's outside the city envelope so plan ahead for a taxi instead of Bolt if you need transportation!

Nothing. I wish we had more time there - if we return, I'll arrived earlier and plan ahead to have dinner with them so we can slow down and enjoy the countryside. Oh! One thing! We did reserve a specific room and staff moved us to another "because it's a nicer room". If you want a specific room, clarify the day before check-in. We didn't ask to be moved. Our room was very nice with an old-world feel we can't find in the USA.

Love its location along the Camino! My room had air-conditioning, which worked well. Everything was clean. I really liked the honor bar available on site. I appreciate Francisco making my breakfast to go so I could leave early in the morning!

It had a beautiful garden area to chill after walking on the Camino.

Nagyon egyedi hangulatú szállás, kedves és segítőkész vendéglátókkal. A szoba mérete, ellátottsága kiváló. Nem a legolcsóbb zarándokszállás, de az úton érdemes egyszer beruházni egy ilyen élménybe. A szálláson lehet kérni vacsorát, de pár perc sétára van más étterem is.

Nincs kiemelhető hibája, az esetleges kompromisszumok az egyediség részei.

The gentleman that checked us in was lovely. Breakfast was nice.

There were many signs posted about what you could do, like cook in the kitchen you just paid a lot of money for. The cabinets which had things like a bottle opener or wine glasses were locked, even though you're buying the wine off of them. The owners live on property and watch guests. With all of the signs about what you can't do, this is uncomfortable. The wines on site were poor quality and it was all rather awkward and disappointing.

Et spændende sted hvor vi var så heldige at få en 100 m2 lejlighed, det var alt rigeligt til 2 personer ;-) Stedet er en gammel gård der har været i samme families eje i mindst 6 generationer. Grundet at vi var de sidst ankomne var der pladsmangel indendørs til morgenmaden; men vi fik en dejlig plads under tag udendørs og morgenmaden var fin.

We stayed one night in the apartment house while walking the Camino. The property is located along the path which was very convenient. The front desk person deserves a 10+ star review for her helpfulness and her warm personality. The grounds of the property is beautifully maintained and there are many places you can escape to if you want to relax. The house is rustic with modern updates. Breakfast was plated - yogurt, fruit, cheese, ham, bread, coffee, juice. The front desk person was also assisting with breakfast and did come around to see if we wanted more food. The AC unit is in the main bedroom, but it is able to cool off the other room at night if someone is sleeping in the room with the single bed. There is a small grocery store and bakery within a five minute walk and a bar/tavern that is also about a 5 - 10 minute walk if you don’t want to eat at the restaurant on the property for dinner.

Although the listing states there is a kitchen, there are signs posted in the house stating that no outside food or drinks are allowed in the house and to ask about the use of the appliances. Also, there are no plates in the kitchen. We did not need to use the kitchen, but if you are booking the house and need the kitchen you should probably get some clarification. We did use the table on the patio to enjoy our snacks and drinks. Additionally, the single bed has a dip in the middle of the mattress.

This was the most peaceful, perfect place I’ve ever stayed! RIGHT on the Camino.

The only downside was an upset dog somewhere. It barked from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and then started up again the next morning.

The property double-booked the apartment we had booked months ago. Without consulting They moved us to a hotel room for three without consulting us when we had four in our party … so then we were forced book another room at the last minute. We paid triple what we were expecting with much less space and were told it was better. Better for who? Not us.

It’s really expensive for what you get and the breakfast is small for someone hiking the Camino.

Historic farm that has been renovated into a delightfully charming inn. The staff were conversant and attentive. It was right on the Camino so made arriving and departing very easy. Best cup of coffee I've had in Portugal. So many use machines - this was freshly brewed!

Location is right on the Camino. Many areas for relaxing. Breakfast was nutritious and beautifully tabled. We stayed in the original house which included old decor and added to the quaintness of the place. Dining area is open 24 hours.

Not enough outlets for electrical devices.

We were a group of 4 walking the Camino and stayed in the 2 bed townhouse. We were not a fan of this property as it was old and full of religious artifacts so felt creepy and dark. The double room was nice but the single room was again dark and creepy. The 'sofa bed' supplied in the front room was little more than a really hard futon so my friend did not get a good sleep atall. Hot water took 10 minutes to come through. Breakfast was pretty meagre with 1/2 slice of cheese each and 1/2 slice of ham. However, gardens and outside areas were lovely.

Needs updating and removal of broken piano and some of the larger religious items.

A quinta é, no geral, muito bonita, os jardins e os espaços estão muito bem cuidados, os funcionários foram simpáticos.

Reservámos dois quartos; o mais pequeno estava bem, nada de especial, mas serve para passar uma noite; o maior tinha dois quartos; na verdade, a decoração é muito antiga, o mobiliário e os roupeiros não são funcionais, são roupeiros muito antigos; à entrada do quarto há um espaço com figuras religiosas e um piano que, na verdade, assustam. Talvez o preço seja um pouco elevado.

Tolle Unterkunft direkt am Jakobsweg gelegen. Wunderschöne Unterkunft, sehr herzlicher Empfang, tolle Anlage in der man nach einem langen Wandertag entspannen kann! Sehr leckeres Essen und top Frühstück!

We have stayed in a two bedroom suite of an old stone house with large living room and other living space decorated with antique furniture and artifacts, time goes back to. Large garden with vines and chairs and shades. A beautiful place

Very nice location right on the Camino. The room was like being in a museum display and the grounds were beautiful. It was a very fun experience.

Very nice stay on the Santiago path. The garden is marvellous and was able to sleep under the olives trees.

Lokacija odlična, na Camino ruti. Komunikacija s osobljem odlična. Soba lijepa, velika i udobna. Prekrasan veliki vrt u kojem se može opustiti. Doručak je bio dobar i raznolik.

Malo se osjeti vlaga u sobi, ništa strašno.

This farmhouse used to be a winery; hence, it is steeped in history and local culture. The staff are incredibly friendly and eager to share their local experiences. The guest house itself is very spacious.

In terms of cleanliness and facilities, there is room for improvement. Since the guest house is quite large, the hot water system was somewhat unstable.

Unser Zimmer war das größte, eher eine Wohnung mit 2 Schlafzimmern, Küche und winzigem Bad. Dunkel, muffig und alt. Frühstücksraum/Restaurant klein und dunkel, teilweise möbliert mit Paletten.

Set in lovely gardens. Lovely staff. Good breakfast. Restaurant at top of road nearby. Great location for the Camino.

We were in a separate small house. While quirky and very characterful it needs a bit of an upgrade. Shower is old and door falling off and screen does not stop water leaking. Slightly chilly on arrival. It would be a lovely summer house. No real place to sit as such and relax. Electrics look many decades old and lights flickered. Kitchen well stocked apart from no plates ( well we could not find them). Not ideal for a tired pair of Camino pilgrims for one night but has great potential. There are a few other properties on the gated estate/gardens which looked lovely but we did not see inside them. We did not really need the space but local availability was not great. Feel a bit guilty with negative comments as really interesting place to stay in

The grounds of the Quinta are beautiful and we enjoyed relaxing in the sun after a day of hiking. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment with a separate double and single room. The beds were comfortable and there was good shutters meaning a great night’s sleep.

We ate dinner at the Quinta as nothing nearby was open (we were there over Easter) and we felt that the food was really expensive compared to other places we stayed and the portions were small.

Very comfortable

It was quite isolated and as it was a rest day for us there was little to do. Sightseeing etc. the food served in the evening was adequate but expensive and could have been much better. The breakfast however was very good.

The staff were wonderful. They were very welcoming, kind, and helpful in answering our questions. The location was good because we were very ready to stop for the day after a long day of walking the Camino. The old buildings and the grounds were beautiful.

This was the most expensive place we stayed, but it wasn't as good as other less expensive places. I finally gave up on having a shower because getting hot water was taking an excessively long time. We would have appreciated some smaller touches, such as a kettle in the room so that we could make ourselves a hot drink in the evening. We had dinner there, which was convenient, but the meal was expensive and nothing to write home about.

A little gem that I was happy to find. The host was very friendly. Very happy about the restaurant that was only a few minutes walk away. Breakfast was great.

Er was geen restaurant de avond dat ik er was; maar er was een restaurant 500 meter verderop. Ik had nog net de puf ernaar toe te lopen na een dag Camino:-)

The hot water takes a while to come thru

Charming property right on the Camino route. It has many stone buildings in the wall area with large garden. Our room was big, clean, well decorated with antique furniture that went well with modern one, good WiFi and comfortable beds. Breakfast was simple that okay with us. Staff were very welcoming and full of hospitality.

The toilet room and shower room were separated that was good but both with glass door that we hate, no privacy and felt uncomfortable.

Es war tatsächlich schwer, den Eingang zu finden. Ich habe die ganze Anlage zu Fuß umrundet. Extrakilometer, die man auf dem Camino nicht unbedingt braucht. Da ich der einzige Gast war, hätte eine bessere Kommunikation vorab keine besondere Mühe gemacht.

This is a fabulous place! My wife and I stayed there in June while walking the Portuguese Camino and it is really a 10/10 place! However… on this current stay in February, I was on my own and things were a little different…For one, I was their first guest since last October (I believe them as since being on the Camino now for one week, I have seen only 8 other pilgrims!). The problem that I experienced with staying at the Quinta de Cancela is that my room (and bed) was extremely damp despite the temperature of the heater being set at 30c ( the heather is not big enough for such a large room) and I had to sleep with all my clothes one (despite the additional blanket provided that i added on my bed). Secondly, they do have a problem with getting hot water for the shower - even in June but within 10 minutes or so, we did get water- however I was not as successful in February as after leaving the water on for more than 15 minutes (and feeling guilty about it) there still no hot water so at the end of it all, I could not take a shower😫!! Keeping in mind that this was the hotel for which I played the most for (80 euros), it was somewhat frustrating… The breakfast next morning was 10/10 as it was in June! So… I would DEFINITELY go back to this wonderful property during the “Camino season” (April to October) but not in February…

-Había un problema de base con el agua caliente y no fuimos informados, no nos pudimos ni duchar con agua caliente , ni lavar las manos con agua caliente. A demás en ciertos momento el dueño insinuaba que lo me lo estaba inventando hasta que se lo demostré… un desastre. -Calefacción de aire en la habitación y no es suficiente. -Desayuno escaso y todo comprado del continente. Nada elaborado. Una pieza de kiwi y otra de naranja (literalmente) para dos personas.

When the manager showed the apartment there was a bunch of hair on the taps in the shower. Dinner was offered but the main meal was a bit disappointing.

Expensive. Everything costs extra money. We “paid” for AC, it was in listing, yet had no controllers for 3 rooms/units, we asked and were ignored. Place is dusty and AC was full of dust, assuming it hasn’t been on for a while. They ask not to do laundry in sink, and there’s no place to dry it, have to pay €10 for washing service, which wasn’t stated in listing. The drinks and food they offer is overpriced. I would rather walk 30+km and push to next stop! If you can, do it! Money here, money there, money everywhere. Uncomfortable sleep, have to leave windows open, it’s hot, bugs come in. Worst stay on Camino :) and the most expensive. The irony. The place seems to lack human compassion and hospitality, has a cold feeling to it. He even walked in a few times while we were there. we were waiting for this place too. Unfortunate.

We came here on the fourth day of our camino. We had been mostly staying in municipal albergues so this was a special splurge for us. The property was so beautiful and our rooms were gorgeous, cozy, and decorated in a traditional way. It gave us the taste of rural portugal homes for the night and we were so grateful. The staff was so accommodating, friendly and fun to talk with! Kamila, at the front desk, was especially kind and went out of her way to make our stay special. We hope to be back one day!

Very expensive for what is offered.

The woman who works there was amazing, the design is beautiful, the room is spacious, and it’s right on the Camino. Breakfast was good.

The bed wasn’t comfortable at all, and it took the hot water eight minutes to arrive!

We stayed here while on the Camino and it was perfect as it was right on the way. Our room was spacious, cozy and comfortable. The breakfast was really good. We had dinner at D’Grill which I highly recommend as it was delicious, good value for money and about 10 minutes walk away.

Seemed a bit expensive compared to other properties we stayed in while on the Camino. The honour bar was also expensive.

Charming renovated old house. Bedroom was spacious, with an efficient layout. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent, served with elegance in a beautiful room. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

The property looked like an old stone villa. There was a very pleasant sitting area in the grass courtyard under the trees that we relaxed in. They offered an open wine bar to guests on the honor system, along with bottled water.

The location was not close to restaurants. Not their fault, but there were few places to eat. The only one we found that was open for dinner that evening, was take-out only, which we brought back to the dining room.

Stayed at the hotel during the camino. Perfect location as it is directly on the trail. LOVED the place, such a peaceful and wonderful garden and surroundings at the ground. And the staff was so friendly. Felt very welcome. Other pilgrims ate dinner at the hotel, but I arrived early and had lunch at a local restaurant just 2-300 meters away, and bought a light dinner (pizzaslice) at the local bakery. The hotel is not the cheapest, but it's all worth it. Would love to stay there again
