Excellent value for money. Everything from bed, evening meal, breakfast and staff was simply perfect. We are so pleased we found The Ship and loved every bit of it.

Location and great friendly staff

Perfect location for our plans. The room.was well decorated and furnished, a cosy size which was complemented by a good size bathroom.

Would have preferred it to have been slightly cheaper than it was, but otherwise no issues or complaints from me.

Location is great. Nice spacious room.

The bed was made up of 2 single beds put together and you could feel it. A thicker mattress cover would help.

The food was a bit of a letdown.

The breakfast was very very disappointing.The bacon,sausage and black pudding was hard to cut,hard to chew.The only proper edible item was the poached eggs and mine tasted vinegary.so was left. Looking on reviews breakfast I was looking forward to. For me I have to say it was the worse I have experienced in hotels or B&Bs.

The staff were all delightful and nothing was any bother at all.

Wish the car park was a bit bigger! But I know it can’t be!

Nice area overall and quiet at night so restful sleep. Nice comfortable bed, the room had everything. Good choice at breakfast. We also had dinner here, most of party opted for fish and chips which were good.

Here they bring you anything hot, but unlike other establishments we have stayed at they did not come back round and ask if you wanted more drinks/toast.

The food was great and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for our 2 night stay.

Delicious breakfast (avocado/poached egg) but I personally wasn't expecting two, as I hate to waste food. My partner loved the full English. Very attentive assistants who were polite and helpful.

Possibly could have removed plates after the main breakfast meal was finished.

The ship is in a great location with comfortable, clean rooms, perfect for stopover coming off and going to the ferry in Holyhead. The food is good and staff were pleasant.

We have stayed a couple times enroute to events in the UK. This time it seemed the staff were under pressure as it was very busy!

Location. Rooms were clean and cosy and quiet. It was so relaxing. One of the best small hotels we have stayed in. Food was excellent. Fabulous choice of beers. Staff were friendly and obliging. We shall definitely be back.

TV in room was from the 1990s, very little to watch... if you can see it. 🧐

The room was clean and the beds were comfy. The staff waiting on at the table for both our evening meal and breakfast were very good and welcoming.

The staff at reception on arrival were not very welcoming and nobody was on reception when we arrived. A waitress had to book us in and was very abrupt and tried to imply that we had only booked one room. The staff seemed under pressure. After breakfast we tried to order 4 coffees but the bar was shut until 11.00 so we went elsewhere

Great location, spacious, staff mostly friendly good tea and coffee facilities.

Bed room was quite warm even with the breeze. Asked for two eggs with breakfast received one which was over cooked, mushrooms not great. Although resident my colleague and I were harassed to drink up, although we’d only had two drinks, took the edge off the evening. I suspect it was where we were sitting but we’d have moved if asked as given it was our first night we didn’t know the layout of things.

Room was nice and comfortable, although a little warm, but a a fan was provided. Good selection of tea/coffee etc. Setting was good with a nice view across the wetlands.

Waiting service was slow. We were in a rush in the morning as we needed to get to our son's graduation in Liverpool, but it took 5-10 minutes after taking our order for the waitress to come back and tell us there were no pancakes, which then caused a further delay. Waiting staff should know this information when taking orders. Checkout was slow, causing us even more delay, as despite saying we were in a rush the staff member side-tracked to deal with getting some ice for a guest's water bottle when he entered from the carpark whilst I was waiting. Unfortunately we couldn't just leave the keys as a code is required to exit the carpark. I feel this code could be provided at check in so we could come and go as we pleased. As a result we were late for my son's graduation ceremony causing him and us distress.

I visit Parkgate every 2 years and this was my 5th stay. The staff are absolutely wonderful and you simply can’t beat the location. The breakfast alone is worth the trip! Fantastic terraces overlooking the nature reserve and across to Wales. Thank you again for an amazing time

Lovely room in a great location

I would have given it the extra point if a small fridge had been in the room!

We arrived early, but were delighted to find our room was ready. We were attending a wedding in Ness Gardens and were expecting to check in and leave our bags, was great to be able to go to our room and freshen up before leaving for the wedding. The room was quite small, but spotlessly clean, had everything we needed. It was very hot, so we appreciated a fan being in the room.

It was much hotter than norma,l so air conditioning would be good but I guess for the couple of weeks a year you need it makes it cost inefficient. A small fridge would be nice.

Great location on The Parade, with lovely views across the estuary to Wales, especially from the upper deck. Room was very comfortable and clean, with added bonus of a fan - needed during the heatwave. ! Staff very professional and friendly, and food excellent.

The parking is not just used by hotel guests, but also the restaurant. I got there at 7pm and there was no space. There was no parking near by so had to take myself off for a few hours and came back at 9pm and the car park had spacesl. So it you want to park, plan to get there outside the restaurant opening times!

Bedroom was so hot in the heatwave one electric fan was not sufficient to make sleeping possible. Bed ver y hard.

The staff were really friendly and attentive, definately made us feel special on our honeymoon. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was great value for money.

The location is a real positive. The whole establishment is very clean and tidy. Despite being very busy the bar operation was extremely slick, they have enough experienced staff to cope with pressure sessions. The inclusive breakfast is good quality.

As always in Parkgate, a fantastic view and The Ship offers one of the best. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the room was clean, well stocked and comfortable.

From the minute we entered the property all the staff where very accommodating. Atmosphere was great. Within walking distance for attending local events we had planned during our stay. Our room was very inviting & comfortable. The view's were outstanding. Breakfast was delicious 😋 We will definitely be back.

Waitress didn’t look happy when I requested 6 poached eggs for breakfast, (nothing else!) Bar & food prices far too high as was the room rate, after all this is a pub not a 4* hotel! Car park open to none residents so very quickly became full, many staying at the pub couldn’t get parked!

Great location overlooking the Dee Estuary. Room had great view and very comfortable. Breakfast good. Plenty of parking. Ate elsewhere as meeting friends from the local area.

Pub was quite noisy, but settled down quickly at closing time.

Wi-fi worked in bedroom on arrival as expected and was fine overnight the first night. Second night and following morning there was no wi-fi (my colleagues staying in other rooms had the same issue). Breakfast took 30 minutes to arrive at table on Saturday morning...

Room was clean and spacious. Staff were friendly. Had good sleep, lovely bath. Plenty of water, tea, coffee, biscuits etc. Easy parking. Late night entry system very helpful. Great breakfast.

No lift (Although this was mentioned in the details when booking). Had to carry my case upstairs to room 29. Also bath very slippery, would definitely benefit from a bathmat for the older guests.

Just a wonderful location with great staff

It’s a very busy place and I think having resident dedicated parking available would for me give it a 10. After a 5 hour drive having to sit and wait 20 mins for someone to leave was a bit of a no no….

Breakfast not service until 8.30am, paid £284 for 2 nights, far too expensive as it’s only a pub after all! Food & bar prices ridiculous really!

Excellent staff who all worked hard and made or stay very good all round, nothing too much trouble.

The ship is in a great location and has a good buzzy atmosphere. We thought the breakfast was okay as was the evening meal . We had to ask for cups , milk , sugar etc. as they were not brought at breakfast . The waitress brought them happily

The single bed mattresses were well worn and not very comfy . The shower handheld head was unusable as li leaked from the tube . It would have been good to have a non slip shower mat
