superb location close to restaurants, lovely park and bridge, and Waitrose. right on Offa's dyke trail
cleanliness of bathroom
The room was spacious and on the ground floor
It was fine
Car parking was useful
Smell of black mould, very uncomfortable mattress, brown stained and musty carpet, leaking shower, very tired and quite dirty overall.
Just after a clean bed for the night
In a good spot.
Weekday traffic is busy outside. With hindsight would have preferred a room on other side.
Free parking, decent size room plus the choice of a bath or a shower. Was able to check in early so I saved money on parking fees. A nice walk into town via the medieval bridge & a takeaway fairly close by.. Good value for money plus the staff are fairly friendly & helpful.
Basic tv with a lot of channels missing
Close to the centre of town, good parking considering the flooding they experienced last year good effort by all
Bar not open often, no breakfast due to the flooding still trying to sort it out
Staff were really lovely and helpful, we needed to check in a little early to get ready for a wedding and they were super helpful on the phone and when we arrived.
The bed was comfortable and we were able to book at the last minute. The staff were helpful especially as we booked just before 10pm. We just needed a stop for the night and they were accommodating. The shower was good and powerful and a good start to the day. We didn't stop for food.
The hotel is definitely in need of a referb. It is dated in appearance.
Good parking , nice welcoming staff , great location
Overall clean but the secondary glazing needs a good clean and doesn’t keep the noise from the main road out .Bathroom was clean but again there were black mould in areas . Furniture was cheap & lots of chips in the Formica . trailing arial flex and multi gang plug . Carpet was ruffled could be a trip hazard . Mattress was not very thick you could feel the divan underneath . It feels more like a contractors place .
Location and good bar
The rooms are really dated and not particularly clean
The price, let’s be honest. On site parking, 100m or so from the historic bridge to cross the river onto the main street of the town. Staff were also very friendly and helpful.
Couldn’t really get the tv to work properly as it couldn’t connect to WiFi sufficiently, but as we were only there for 1 night it didn’t really matter.
The staff were really friendly and helpful and helped us with finding what we needed in the local area.
nothing
Location to the town is perfect.
The mattress needs to be replaced. Room looks clean enough till you notice it needs to be better, cobwebs, thick dust under tables, shower door needs cleaned. Light from the hall outside come into the room. Door wouldn't be much good in a fire. Small window in room needs to be kept shut, water from the roof came flooding in when it rained. Luckily we were there to notice and get towels down and shut the window. Every floor board creeks, from up above and along corridor, doors banging. Sleep wasn't good, was glad to be leaving.
Free parking easy walk into town

Dated and Basic
Friendly staff and good location.
All good TY
The location was ideal and the room was adequate. Our sheets and towels were clean and changed daily.
The shower was small and the wallpaper in the bathroom had grime or mold.
The staff were very welcoming & helpful.
In need of a refurbishment.
Location
No breakfast available
The twin room was a decent size and bathroom included a bath. The staff on reception was friendly and sorted out a problem with the TV remote without much fuss. TBH the price was very good value. The location is pretty close to the main street in Monmouth
Because of the price it would be harsh to be picky. If pushed it's not possible to keep the window open at the front due to traffic noise.
Really comfortable 😌
It was perfect liked everything
Private secure parking appreciated.
None
Bar close 9pm 😔
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, comfortable room
Bit overpriced. Breakfast price prohibitive
The location was good
Monmouth was devastated by floods in March 2026 and the Hotel was flooded. The recovery has clearly been slow. Our ground floor room showed signs of being hastily redecorated to a limited budget. The beds were uncomfortable and the furniture was tatty. We had been advised 24 hours before that there was no meal service but fortunately there are a number of restaurants in the nearby High Street. I suspect that the ratings (on which I based my selection of hotel) had been made prior to the floods. Hopefully, the hotel will rise again but until then it does not offer value for money.
Friendly staff on arrival
We had an email to say breakfast was not available due to flooding. The next morning breakfast was being served to others. The rooms are very basic for the price.
Good location, just off the A40. Welcoming and friendly staff. Good parking.
Shower was a bit cramped, but the shower itself was very good. Could do with curtains to block the light that comes in round the edges of the blind.
Friendly staff, easy walking distance for food and shopping, easy parking
Needed more sockets in room
The staff were absolutely lovely .. we were lucky to get the last room and it was ok no airs or graces but it was a huge bed and very clean
A little dated
Breakfast was very good, staff were very friendly n helpful. Position of hotel was good just over the Bridge from centre of town
Nothing really
Convenient position
Desperately need’s updating
Staff were lovely, polite and welcoming, and gave a refund when I was disappointed with the room.
The key was difficult to get in the lock and to turn. The room was nothing like the pictures. Furniture was shabby. Mattresses were very soft with no support. The room smelt musty. I was so disappointed I went home.
Close to town centre, great parking on site. Comfortable clean room, lovely breakfast, will be staying again.

Comftable bed friendly staff good location
Servoce okay
Room comfortable but a long treck, due to pain in leg
Great location in Monmouth.
The lack of a restaurant is a significant issue and was communicated until after we booked. We arrived late after walking all day and it could have resulted in nothing to eat that evening - luckily Monmouth has some other options.
Great location. Great venue.
More sockets in the room but an extension lead was found for us so wasn't a problem.
Einzige verfügbare Unterkunft. Einfach und zweckmässig.
Schmutzige Spannteppiche, in die Jahre gekommene Ausstattung
Location
Room was boiling only 1 window opened and I booked with my 2 year old and he could climb on the bed onto the only window that opened, the one bed was busted had a big sinking dip in it and the tall white wardrobe was leaning over i had to put a chair next to it ,,was a fan but didn't work and I had to take about half hour to find a spot for the crap aerial and then you couldn't go anywhere near it also there is something hard under the carpet felt like a stone or something,,i also had a few bags and wasn't offered any help to the top floor and far end of the building while carrying my boy,,do not recommend at all...oh and only 2 plugs in the whole room ,,,
Great welcome, lovely staff.
The location
The room had ajoining door and as Solo lady traveller at 2.30am the door was pushed against by 2 men who come into next room very scary 😪
clean room :friendly staff; free parking on site, nice towels, comfy bed, nice toilet paper, good breakfast, bar not too expensive. excellent location
everythibg was perfect
Location fantastic, parking good, manager and staff receptive and talkative in the majority.
Room was tired and dirty and had not been cleaned for a while with a thick layer of dust, stains on walls, carpets not hoovered etc. Informed the manager and he was very good, cleaned room to a better standard and offered us an upgrade to bed and breakfast.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Really friendly staff and locals
The location is quite convenient. Staff were friendly.
It took ages to get the room door key to work; inside there were only two plug points, both on the opposite side of the room from the bed. One with a multipoint adaptor plugged in, but that didn’t work. The shower didn’t sit in its wall mounting, so it only sprayed the wall, and it leaked because the screen seal was broken, also it suddenly became scalding when (I think) another room flushed its toilet. A glass light fitting positioned right over the bed nearly fell off in the night. There was no breakfast. The photo on the Booking.com page must be very old, as it doesn’t look anything like this now.
The hotel is only a couple of minutes walk to the town centre and the banks of the beautiful river wye. It was affected badly by the recent floods in Monmouth so there is still some renovation work to do but it didn’t affect our stay at all. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and even though fully booked they managed to squeeze us in for an extra couple of nights. Our room had a comfy bed and everything we needed. Another big plus is the free parking on site.
Well my knees are not good so could have done with a lift. But really loved everything !
Very friendly and helpful staff.

Good location near to the centre nice staff and
Good location, fair priced, comfortable and clean room
No negative feedback to leave
We like the location, price and staff. We've stayed before, and I guess going back is the greatest recommendation.
All good, it's not the Ritz, but you won't be paying Ritz prices either. It's clean and comfortable with a lovely welcome.
Great location, just over the old footbridge from the main town centre in Monmouth. Very pleased that it also has parking at the back of the hotel that’s hidden away from the street.
It’s a 2 star property, so expectations are low. However the biggest issue was that the toilet hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guest with diarrhoea - specks in the toilet bowl, around the rim and above/below the toilet seat. Hygiene and cleanliness is equally required whether you are a 1 star or a 5 star property. Carpet in the bedroom wasn’t very clean felt like dirt or stones on it. Ledges in the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned in the corners, so overall really poor cleaning quality. It also seemed like the Reception staff weren’t really expecting me - perhaps hadn’t seen the booking from booking.com early that morning. I’m guessing I was allocated a room that had not been freshly cleaned. Cheap quality mattress on the bed, be prepared to feel every spring. I had a room facing the front car park at the side of the hotel, but with warm weather I had the upper windows open, be warned that it gets pretty noisy with traffic in the morning as they zoom past. I had the fan on, so that white noise helped drown the traffic out a bit.
Helpful staff,
Nosey motor/generator in carpark
The lady who manned reception and the bar was very helpful and friendly
Cheap n cheerful.
Electric charger was broken, which was the reason we booked here. Fortunately there was a cheap charger in the parking across the street which is free to park in after hours.
Rooms were very clean and comfortable.
There was nothing not to like.
I did not have breakfast but the hotel was very good for the money it cost
Good service
Friendly welcome. Allowed leave car before check in time. Room had everything we needed. Bed so comfirtable for price excellent value for money. Place so conveniently situated walk in to town would definitely recommend
Nothing
Did not take breakfast. Although an old property, the room was sparsely but adequately furnished, comfortable bed and relatively modern bathroom. On site bar.
Guests entering late we not necessarily sensitive to noise and the walls were thin to the corridor.
The proximity to the city centre, the semi-hidden private parking, the cleanliness, the staff.
Nothing - the room was as per described. It was actually very silent - despite the hotel was fully booked - and there was a fan (we were there for the hottest weekend in 2026! 32 degrees) which was not at the expensive and supposed to be 4 star Marriott we were the night before.
Location
Basic
Clean and comfortable

An ideal location. The room was very hot due to unusually hot weather (30 degrees) but a fan was supplied which helped.
When we visited last time we had an excellent cooked breakfast. Unfortunately on this visit the kitchens are only functioning at weekends due to last year's flooding. Hopefully they will be up and running again soon.
Clean and comfortable en suite room. We did not have breakfast.
Nothing.
Location and off road parking.
Rooms in need of TLC
The staff were very helpful
It was not clean and not worth £100 a night
The hotel contacted me explaining the situation after the flood some facilities were not available. I personally seen the damage done and they should be proud they have achieved. This my second time staying there and I will be back. Great hotel.
Nothing. The staff were excellent even though they could have lost everything.
Location great. Staff flexible
the Staff very friendly and the room was comfortable and clean. Very good breakfast.
Location
Really outdated and due a renovation.
Near town centre
The price compared to The Punch House and Wetherspoons.
Bed very uncomfortable. Very noisy doors slamming in the night
Close to Monmouth centre
Traffic noise
Great location as a base to explore the area. Considering the problems caused by the flooding last November I think the owners have done remarkably well and are still battling to get everything in order. Deserves supporting.
All good
Free, easy parking. All doors are kept locked, which makes you feel safe
Staff were lovely. Pleasant spacious room. Very good breakfast. Convenient to the town centre and Well done for fighting back do admirably following the flood.
Staff were really helpful and friendly - thanks Matt and Sally! Room was fairly basic but good value for money, comfy bed and decent shower.
The room was very light, blackout curtains s would be a great touch! Also better filter coffee at breakfast (which was otherwise very good)
The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean with coffee facilities. Clean towels and bedding. I hope the support from the party guests help get them back on their feet after the flood, but wasn't worth the price paid for the room
The room smelled musty. With old fashioned single glazing on windows, making it noisy by the road. The bathroom had a mouldy smell and was grubby around the window seals. The toilet seat was broken also. No food or breakfast available. Was not good value for the price paid.
The staff were friendly and helpful
Shower was old with signs of mould. Property in need of updating although aware of recovering from flood
