Aberdour Hotel, Stables Rooms & Beer Garden

Old style hotel, with bar and restaurant. Very good cooked breakfasts and a wide choice of evening meals, with quality food, locally sourced. Friendly staff, although sometimes service was slow.

Room was quite basic. Little in the way of decoration and could do with refreshing. Not good value for money.

Room was small and dated. Bed was hard and creaked. Breakfast took for ever to be served considering we were the only ones in there initially. We ordered porridge which tasted fine when it eventually arrived, so decided not to ask for toast as we were being picked up for the airport. Thought it was expensive for what we got.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. Food was good and affordably priced.

Room was comfortable but in serious need of updating. Carpets, bedspreads, light fixtures could use replacement. Lack of parking.

The best bit was the nice lady that served us breakfast after she had to change our table as it was right in front of the cereal and juice drink serving area.

Being in a top floor room with very narrow stair and the fact that no staff were in building during the night. This gave my wife and me a very worrying night re the possibility of the fire alarm going off and trying to exit the building with the steep and narrow stairway. The bedroom was not good. The floor was sloping and the items on the bedside table almost slid off due to the angle. The bathroom had a very dangerous small step which was easy to forget if you got up in a sleepy state during the night. The extract fan mad a very loud vibration noise. The door of the bathroom opened itself even when closed properly. We kept the window slightly open during the night for ventilation but as the hotel is on a main road the heavies passing through were very noisy. We left after the first night and of course lost the cost of the second night and breakfast. We have in the past been Mystery Shoppers for a well known large national hotel group.

Staff were excellent. Very good location as railway station and beach front were in easy walking distance. Good breakfast.

Felt room could have been cleaner. There was a tide ring around the bath and scuff marks around the beds.

Staff were without exception excellent, and a redeeming feature of the stay. Location lovely, hotel attractive and all basics covered.

Accomodation good but basic, lacking "soul", and the little touches e.g. shortbread on hospitality tray. Stairs to rooms might be tricky for some, but that's the nature of the building. Some bedding stained, as were some scatter cushions. General lack of attention in what could be a really great hospitality experience as a 4* rather than the 2* it currently seems. Breakfast choice described as continental as well as cooked, with the former being yoghurt, cereal and 1 type of fruit juice, and a bowl of 3 types of fruit. Some pastries or such would have been more typically "continental ", as would a selection of meats or cheeses. Cooked breakfast well executed, but economical in portion size. Decaf coffee from a jar from the basic range of Aldi/Lidl type store. Got the feeling there was heavy leaning on location and history somewhere that could easily be more salubrious but is under achieving in effort.

The vibe was lovely. Really friendly and personal. It exceeded my expectations. Also loved the breakfast.

I didn’t like how I wasn’t able to find the WiFi password in the room. Room slightly tired in parts but still great value.

It was a perfect location, easy walk to the train station. Flowers at the station and along the road were very pretty. Girl who checked us in was friendly and also served us our dinner. Steakburger was so good... husband ordered it both nights. I was happy with my chicken parm first night then haddock second night. Fries were substantial and hot. Side salad was fresh with a really good light dressing. The company in the resturant was delightful, from both locals and travelers. We had to leave before breakfast was served on our last day, but they were so kind to fix us up with a couple of scrambled eggs on buns. After too much walking to get to our tour bus, husband's bum knee had swelled, and the server gave us a bag of ice to get the swelling down. Much appreciated!

We were very cozy in the room, however, we were on the top floor and it was a little challenging for my mom to walk up the steps.

We were there for a family wedding. The staff were excellent nothing was any bother to them. The breakfast was excellent as the evening meal we all had.

The hotel was very warm but that obviously couldn’t be helped.

Breakfast was very good. Scrambled Eggs on toast just as I would want it.

Standard of cleanliness in room was unacceptable along with condition of room. Room is in some serious need of modernisation, maintenance and general housekeeping. TV was about 12" positioned on the desk where you cant even see it. Mould found in bathroom in several places. Carpets worn significantly. Floors creaking. Shower Tap Loose. Dead flies on window sill. Banging from bathroom window, had to put some toilet roll in the window sill in the middle of night. I changed my stay from 2nights to 1night because of the above, and unfortunately was not offered a refund on my 2nd night stay. Accommodation hiding behind the fact I booked through booking.com Would advise to only stay here if you are desperate.

у нас был номер,окна которого выжодили на дорогу,но после полуночи не шум с дороги,не шум от бара не мешали!завтраком можно наесться.то,что отель в центре-удобно для прогулок....на пляж не дошли-показалось долеко!

за завтраком нам дали очень узкое место и места для приборов и тарелок не было,долго ждали что б узнать,что заказанного нет.....в результате было в наличии только одно блюдо,хотя говорится,что завтрак по меню!

Parking

My dad is 91, and this was his first break away without my mum, who sadly passed away last year. I was worried about him being on his own, but I needn't have been. The staff were incredibly attentive, caring, and kind throughout his stay. The Garden Room was perfect for him and easy to get around in. When I visited beforehand, both the Manager and staff were extremely helpful, taking the time to show me around and assist with the booking process. They did everything possible to make his stay as comfortable and enjoyable as they could, and we really can't thank them enough. He thoroughly enjoyed his break and is already hoping to return in the future. Thank you all for your kindness and for making his stay such a positive experience. It meant so much to both of us.

The ease of location and building layout

Really old and run down room, in dire need of a refurb.

I think it's a good place to stay if you were walking the fife coastal path and needed to lay your head for the night.

Room was hot, the bed was on a slope, mattress too hard and lumpy. Decor is a bit dated. And felt uncomfortable that the toilet is right in front of a window which didnt have any blinds or that.

Staff were lovely, really helpful and accommodating of my coeliac and very nice to my dog.

The room was really hot and and there was a constant noise, from what assume was a generator or something.

Perfect for our family. Village pub/accomodation right in centre of Aberdour. Easy walk from Aberdour train station. Lovely village with local shops, a GREAT wine bar and two beaches for morning walks. Must visit Aberdour Castle!

Basic rooms but comfortable and had coffee/tea making facilities but no fridge.

We knew the Aberdour from many years ago and it is now the only hotel in the village. The new owners have done a good make over with the bar and restaurant . The evening meals were excellent. The cooked breakfast was good but continental breakfast

The rooms are small. My husband nearly fell out of his bed - it was so springy! There was plenty of drawers and hangers which was good but this made the room even smaller. There was only one moveable bedside light to spare between the two beds! The bathroom was minute! There was barely enough room to get into the shower. We only got Luke warm water. We stayed 3 nights and their philosophy is only to refresh the rooms when asked - fine but I did feel we were paying a premium for lack of service.

How clean room was and the food was delicious. Also the staff were so friendly and helpful.

Locatie ten opzichte van het treinstation (2 min. lopen) om naar Edinburgh te gaan is uitstekend, in 25 minuten sta je in hartje Edinburgh. Prima uitvalsbasis dus. Personeel was heel vriendelijk en zeer behulpzaam.

Prijs/kwaliteit verhouding is scheef. Te duur.

The room- it was located with a door directly outside to the beer garden and had one small window. No air movement. old vinyl sofa, fireplace with a fake electric insert. Thankfully we were there on a Monday night so it wasnt noisy outside our room.

Staff were good 👍 . No carpark. What had been the carpark had been turned into an outside seating area for food and drinks

The hotel is in very poor condition very tired almost held together with chewing gum ..lots of other people making disgruntled noises

We had to cut trip short as I had thought I had booked a ground floor room due to mums mobility. The staff were unhelpful as their was no lift. We came home 3 hours after arriving as the room was unacceptable. No WiFi in the room and the staff were not very understanding to my elderly mums needs. I explained this to the manager, I emailed also. Have not had a reply I wasn't looking for a full refund but as we had paid for breakfast for 2. I thought they would have at least replied and offered some sort of refund. I would not go back or recommend the place .

Although comfortable, my room was showing signs of wear… carpet, tile grout, bed pleather frame… but it didn’t deter from my stay. My room was above the street which is fairly busy so I’m glad I brought ear plugs for sleep

Room was very dated and cold even after turning up heating. Bathroom had nowhere to put your towels/makeup bag. Lighting was poor.

Das Hotel ist sehr urig. Das Personal war super!! Das Restaurant war sehr lecker und abends konnte man noch gut in der Bar sitzen.

Das Hotel könnte ein kleines Freshup ab. Die Einrichtung der Zimmer und der Badezimmer wirkt schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen.

We struggled to park our car in village

Location, staff and the restaurant were all amazing!

Our room was absolutely freezing when we went in after dinner. We figured out how to turn on the heat but it took a while! The only other minor issue was in the morning when the cleaning staff went into the room across the hall and turned up their music really loud and left the door open. We were already awake, but I didn’t appreciate the noise level. I understand that listening to music helps make the cleaning more fun, but at 08:30 on a Sunday morning I would think headphones would have been a more respectful choice.

Some members of staff were great. Romm was really clean but dated.

Member of staff on reception, not dark haired girl but a blonde one was quite rude and rolled her eyes because i couldn't hear what she was saying. The dark haired girl was very polite.

Comfortable hotel in a nice place. Food! Evening meal and Guinness were amazing!! Breakfast was everything we could ask for.

The food was great, so good! The bar area is really nice. Very dog friendly.

It was really hot and when window open I got smoke in from beer garden underneath me into room. The room I felt was expensive for what you got. One person working there was very friendly and nice who served breakfast 2nd morning and they were not all like that.

Ideale Lage für Nord-Ost Schottland, und Besuch von Edinburgh durch die rasche Bahnverbindung. Sehr gemütlicher, ursprünglicher Gasthof mit Frühstück inklusive, sehr freundliches und engagiertes Personal. Parkplatz im Hof oder 3min vor dem Bahnhof. Im Mansardenzimmer herrlicher Blick über den Forth of Firth bis Edinburgh hinüber. Strand in wenigen Minuten erreichbar.

La propreté des chambres : à notre arrivée le ménage laissait à désirer. Il n'a pas été fait pendant la durée du séjour et notamment le remplacement des serviettes et les poubelles. La chambre 24 ne fait pas les 25m2 annoncés, mauvaise évacuation des eaux usées dans les sanitaires., salle de bain très petite. Mauvaise isolation, très bruyante. Pour le petit déjeuner, si vous n'aimez pas déjeuner local, pas d'autre possibilité.

Aberdour is a great location for the train into edinburgh. The hotel was good value and staff wonderful. The food was very good.

The breakfast was as good as you will find in a 5star hotel. Only improvement might be the addition of fresh fruit. The staff were incredibly friendly and efficient and went out to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The room we had was warm, clean and comfortable.
