Bed was really comfy, quiet village location, decent sized room and nice breakfast. Nice powerful shower in smart bathroom with nice toiletries.
Everything excellent apart from the unpleasant smell in the bathroom. Not sure whether it was drains or sani-loo.
The staff were so friendly and helpful. The accommodation, buildings and garden gorgeous.
The beds (especially the pull out sofa bed) were slightly uncomfortable.
Comfort and overall standards
Taxis can be a real challenge. Must prebook to and from train station. Not the Inns fault though
Excellent diner and breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, clean room, great parking space, wonderful area.
The neighbours upstairs sounded like they were re-decorating from 6AM, apparently sound insulation is poor.
Lovely stay. Highly recommended. Big rooms. Well decorated. Excellent and friendly staff. Felt very exclusive and private.
Classic pub with modern accommodation, location in proximity to Haynes Motor Museum , could host an event too eg classic car tour ..
Lanes around the property were tricky and surfaces weee poor , you had to really focus on where you were putting the wheels on your classic car !
Perfect county pub
We spent 3 nights here recently. The room was a good size and very comfortable. We ate in the bar or restaurant each evening and at breakfast and we enjoyed the food very much. All the staff were friendly and helpful and we would certainly stay again if we were back in the area.
A very small thing, it would have been nice to have a couple of comfortable chairs in the room - there was space for them.
Lovely spacious clean room with ensuite bath room. Nice touches homemade biscuits and choices of tea, coffee and hot chocolate

I have already written a review! Breakfast great staff very helpful and friendly Food great :choice and very good . Pizzas two days/ evenings a week in addition to regular menu
Building two houses across the road but that’s not their fault!! Made it noisy. Breakfast finished at 9am Monday to Friday maybe 9.30 would suit us better?
Room was cool and large room
Breakfast was served in a small outside area designed for outdoor functions
Lovely country pub within easy reach of the A303. Clean and spacious rooms and good food.
A busy Friday evening in the school holidays did stretch the staff.
Really lovely pub. Room was large and comfortable
Breakfast was good but didn’t like the radio being on so loud and whilst away on holiday don’t necessarily want to listen to doom and gloom of the news all the way through the breakfast, was the same on both days we ate breakfast. Like the old pub and the setting and I think all the staff are very hard working however to me it was obvious they need more staff on , especially during dinner, we had to wait for long periods and its wasn’t the fault of the person serving just that they had so a much to do but whoever manages the pub needed to look at this as it would definitely create a better overall experience.
Think I have already covered this, the staff an all very busy but there is not enough of them, this is obvious at dinner and breakfast. The staff are run off their feet so they need to review the staffing needed to support the busy periods better.
Very clean and spacious, staff warm and friendly, evening meal and breakfast excellent
Could not find any faults
Cosy, great food
Lovely country pub with beautiful comfortable rooms. Clean and well appointed. Highly recommend 👌
Friendly atmosphere, excellent dinner and breakfast menu. Room facilities were fabulous with everything you needed . Perfect quiet location for a short stay visiting attractions in the area.
Characterful and relaxed. Our room was spacious and stylish and stayed cool even through the heatwave. Food & service were great. Would definitely recommend.
Nothing
Lovely location, great pub with high standard of accommodation and food. All staff were friendly and helpful.

This is probably the nicest pub in England!
Nothing
Location
Room needs some TLC , bathroom tired and worn with peeling paintwork , carpet ill fitting in parts and needed deep clean.
The property was very convenient for our needs. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was also very good. The staff were very accommodating. The property was quiet and peaceful.
The water pressure coming to the wash hand basin was very low and slow and the hot water was scalding.
Lovely rooms, super clean, easy check in, breakfast served till 1130 at the weekend. Tea and coffee facilities, good shower
Owners and staff were fabulous. Place is quiet and peaceful, and just what we wanted
Sadly they had a problem with the milk at breakfast (it had gone off) but aside from that everything was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and we would definitely recommend it.
Lovely quiet location
Difficult to contact directly
The rooms and location and staff
Nothing
Both Male staff we dealt with we're very accommodating and couldn't do enough. The food was really good. I would hiighly recommend.....
There's nothing not to like!
Location. Friendly pub vibe
Our window overlooked a walkway. Leaving a window open overnight wasn’t therefore an option. In defence we did visit during a heatwave
Great location
The hotel is very nice and confortable, the housekeeper team is geniunly amazing, and it is sparkling clean every day ! There is the pub near by but tbh we don't hear much from the room
When I was there, the breakfast team was not at breakfast, I had to wait a long time. Then I ask the staff to get some help, but they didn't rush at all and I had to wait again. At the end, I had breakfast at the petrol station.
Sleepy village location. Old pub with history. Good food although abit pricey.
Nothing not to like.
Excellent dinner
Nothing
The hotel had a lovely atmosphere. A superb country hotel with a vibrant pub that had excellent food.
Nothing
Wonderful staff, high quality throughout. Lovely country pub.
When you advertise bed and breakfast you do not expect to get up in the morning to find it is only an allowance against a menu. We had coffee, juice, granola and a cooked breakfast and ended up with a bill for two breakfasts of £17 plus service charge.
Beautiful old pub in quiet village and very warm and friendly. Our room was very spacious and comfortable and lots of choice at breakfast.
Nothing
Excellent place to stay - our 3rd visit . We were visiting relatives with our 2 dogs . Clean , comfortable & friendly staff. Excellent restaurant quality foid , even sitting in the bar . Comfortable room & excellent breakfast .

Lovely staff, brilliant room & good selection for breakfast. Great to have live music on our first evening.
Table we were given for dinner was rather out of the way, hidden round the back of the bar and we were the only ones there initially. Hardly any staff for breakfast, on our second morning & a little too generous with the very fiery chilli oil with eggs & avocado. Had thought we had breakfast included but did not through booking.com. That wasn’t clear.
Stunning pub /inn with great newly renovated barn for accommodation.
Great location just off of the A303
Lovely secluded location, friendly staff, good food and ale, plenty of parking and pet friendly. Recommended!
It is far from a criticism, but i could have done with a stake knife for my dinner. Yes, i could have requested it, of course, so as i said- not a criticism.
Rooms nice, comfortable, roomy & very clean. Breakfast was excellent in the very pleasant event room. We would highly recommend staying here & also dining at The Red Lion is very good with a good menu, well presented, lovely food.
Nothing to complain about here!
Eigentlich alles
Very nice rooms and very good food. Breakfast was perfect.
The extra bed in the room was very uncomfortable.
Everything
We had a very comfortable stay - our modern, well equipped bedroom was located in the ‘barn’, an outbuilding just adjacent to the old pub. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner in the pub. There was a happy mix of locals and fellow guests, so the atmosphere was upbeat. Also our food was excellent - clearly their chef is innovative and skilled. A scrumptious breakfast, served in another outbuilding across from the ‘barn’ was perfectly prepared. All the staff were friendly and helpful - lovely people! Another plus ……. delicious homemade shortbread in the tea tray in our room!
All was good!
A good traditional pub, with a nice restaurant , good atmosphere and has a nice beer garden. The rooms are also good
The service in pub/restaurant was slightly slow
great breakfast, will adjust options to suit, rooms were clean and spacious
some noise can be heard from other rooms
Lovely pretty & cosy pub where you can book & eat in the bar area or restaurant area . The staff we all friendly & happy to help. Both areas have the same menu which had a lovely variety of popular & more usual plates . It was hard to choose . I had the most delicious cheese soufflé with cheese fondue absolutely recommend .Fabulous outside pizza kitchen too. Excellent beer & draft.cider. We stayed overnight .The room was perfect, a very attractive & good size double at the front facing the road on the ground floor but no car noise . It is just a country road . We look forward to coming again in a few months time
Nothing we loved it
Very comfortable stay. Very clean room. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast cooked to order.
Green light on ceiling which was very bright. Had to cover with Elastoplast so we could sleep!!

Friendly warm welcome cosy bar and restaurant

Spacious room with 'high-end' furnishings in room & en-suite, toilet and shower. Very pleasant staff - helpful & efficient. Stayed there previously 10 years ago and it was reassuring to find that standards have been maintained
Pot=holes in the country lane we took on our inward journey. (Best to arrive via A37).
Perfect for a quick evening away. Wonderful room, excellent staff and the meal in the pub felt like we were spoiling ourselves.
Leaving after we enjoyed our lovely breakfast
Lovely location with a great restaurant/pub. Room was very clean. Beautifully decorated. Customer service was excellent. We would definitely stay again.
Room , food and staff. Excellent
Nothing, wish we could have stayed longer
The location and the friendliest of the staff.
Nothing
not a lot to be truthful but room was ok -expensive for what it was
all a bit sterile really -room was cold and a bit dark but worst really was the breakfast in a cold "bar "area as the only guests adjoining and looking out into an empty events marquee so all pretty shabby on that front.Ok if event guests but not a cosy experience for mid winter .No reason not to have breakfast on the dining area .For that reason we would not come back
The staff were really friendly and really on the ball about check-in details. The room was clean and well presented. The large bed was very comfortable and the bed linen was crisp cotton. There were home made biscuits on the tea tray. The full English was the best I’ve had for years. Freshly cooked and so very tasty.
The room was too hot for us but I was able to open the windows to cool it down.
This place is a little gem. Olde worlde pub with great atmosphere, amazing food and friendly staff.
Nothing
Comfort and friendly Staff.
Breakfast Room Cold for Winter use.
A rambling old pub with plenty of snug areas to sit. Three real ales on hand pump. Very good food. Good service from very nice people. Spacious, well-appointed and comfortable rooms in a separate barn. Very quiet location with no passing traffic. Large gravelled car park. Good value B&B rates. Great to see a very busy pub and restaurant in these straightened times.
The website states the pub opened at 5pm, but was actually 6pm. Our final bill initially had the service charge applied to our (considerable) bar tab as well as the restaurant element. This was amended without any issues when I asked, but it seems a common practice these days. Of our group of 4 single males, two had no bottled water in their rooms, one had no milk. Other than that, absolutely no issues and I would happily stay there again.
The staff is welcoming and super friendly, the bedroom is just beautiful and location is spot on! I would highly recommend this!
Very quiet location A lot of character
Nothing all good
Nothing
Location, cleanliness, breakfast and service. The pictures looked great and I expected a pleasurable stay with good breakfast in the pub. It turned out to be located in an isolated area, a very dark place all around when we arrived, without any direction for parking, and we thought we've got the wrong place because the pub was closed and no one was available for checking in. The hotel staff who we managed to contact by phone told us to enter an annex near the pub with a code, and that we would find the keys there. No keys were found and upon a second contact the hotel staff told us the cleaner must have forgotten to place the keys there, so we agreed to check-in after dinner. Poor customer service apart, the rooms' conditions were unsatisfactory. They were cold and the bathrooms were not cleaned up to standard. Breakfast was served in a tent opposite the annex, rather than in the pub. Our stay was absolutely not pleasurable, and this accommodation was not worth the money paid.
Rooms very nice . Pub was lovely and atmospheric . Lovely staff and the chefs who cooked the very nice breakfasts were great . It was ideal for our long weekend meeting friends who live very locally .
Accommodation separate from pub and pub not open very often . Think not walking into the pub or reception to be greeted when returning felt a bit cold . The room was not warm on arrival with regret as was the breakfast room. But it was winter !!! Just felt a bit chilly around the edges 😟
great traditional pub with excellent food, good beer selection, great room in the barn away form the pub
a few times the electric in the room went off, the lights are on sensors so all the lights would randomly come on in the night when the electric dipped.
Our room ar the Red Lion was without a doubt one of the largest, and most classily furnished and decorated pub accomodation venues that we have ever stayed at...we were absolutely thrilled with the room we were given! Unfortunately our plans didn't allow for us to have dinner at the pub as we would have liked to have done, bit we popped in for an after dinner drink and loved the ambience of the inn:) Breakfast was also lovely! We would thoroughly recommend The Red Lion to anyone passing through the area :)
The location and it was very dog friendly although we weren’t staying with dogs we may well do in future.
Nothing
The room was comfortably furnished & warm . We ate in the bar as we were travelling with our dog . The food , service & value were excellent . The staff without exception were helpful & friendly.
Better ventilation in the breakfast room would be good as came out smelling of cooking smells.
Welcoming. Characterful. Warm comfortable room. Friendly staff
Welcoming staff, well placed for nearby wedding venue. Superbly furnished warm rooms. We were pampered and happy in our room. Would definitely recommend.
The pub was cold and the wood burners smoking…..this was. Probably because we arrived early. This was more than made up by the warmth of our welcome.
classsic english pub but with very comfortable and updated facilities excellent meals and attentive ,welcoming staff
nothing negative
We loved pretty much everything. The location is straight out of a Bridget Jones movie, the food utterly exceptional and all round brilliant value for money.
The shower head was not fixed to the wall and the cold water wasn’t cold but literally they are tiny things. The rest was brilliant.
Lovely location, room and breakfast
Nothing
It’s a lovely inviting country pub, with a warm open fire and welcoming staff.
There was nothing not to like.
room & pub were fantastic, food was great and good choice of ales
in barn, power kept resetting, this triggered the room lights on sensors so randomly in the middle of the night the lights would come on and off on their own when resetting
Beautiful pub in great location although a bit isolated. Village has no shop so no newspapers!
Absolutely nothing
The food was brilliant as always. The main reason why we keep going back
No heating in room when we arrived
Beautiful ensuite rooms adjoining this cosy gastropub. Beds were so comfortable! Delicious home cooked food and a welcoming atmosphere. Was a perfect 1 night stay as part of a group
Lovely quiet rural location - nice that the rooms are in a separate converted barn and the decor is really pleasing. Rooms are well equipped and very clean. Staff were all super friendly and a big shout out to the gentleman who cooks breakfast - he is great at his job - food cooked to perfection and he remembers what guests had from the day before. Food at breakfast and dinner is really good quality and has great taste too. The home cooked biscuits in the bedrooms are a nice touch and good quality tea/coffee is provided.
The pub is closed in the afternoons so we were contacted in the morning by a member of staff who sent through very clear instructions on how to enter the accommodation. Unfortunately no key had been left for us and it took 30 minutes to get hold of someone and them come to us to let us in. The problem was rectified very quickly once I was able to get hold of someone so the mangers just need to make sure the numbers given for contact are available. Luckily we could sit inside whilst we waited just not in our room.
It was very welcoming and the workers were lovely!!

Super mysigt ställe med Pub med fantastisk mat. Super trevlig personal. Super fint rum.
Absolutely eveything
Only one tiny thing. Although breakfast itself and the breakfast room were absolutely superb, looking out into the empty wedding marquee wasn’t the best view. Maybe some sort of blind would be a great add-on? Otherwise fabulous throughout
