Great place to stay

Everything was great

The location was convenient and the room was reasonably priced.

The bed linen had crumbs and stains when I arrived, although it was later replaced. The old windows offered very poor soundproofing, so street noise and shouting could be heard throughout the night. At 3 a.m., the smoke detector started beeping every minute, and nobody answered the emergency number. I had to remove it from its base so I could finally sleep at around 4 a.m.

Lovely room and owner

It was good that there was a kitchenette in the corridor with microwave, kettle and fridge.

The lights on the corridor were not working, which meant that I had to use the torch from my mobile phone to see in the kitchen when it was dark outside.

Cleanliness was a big issue. Not sure the last time the sheets had been properly cleaned looked alright visibly but woke up with several itchy bites / rash on the exposed parts of my skin. Looking around the room hasn’t had a proper deep clean in a long time and just a bit grubby especially the shower head

Great space smack in the middle of downtown Portsmouth. Lots of places to eat and have a drink until really late. Great pub on the opposite corner. Manager was really nice: late check in no problem via a door code, and I was allowed to park my bike in the closed restaurant for safety. Slept in a really charming room, nice view and enjoyed a private bathroom.

There's no breakfast because of the closure, but I did enjoy a coffee in my room.

Very conveniently located. I stayed midweek and found it quiet aside from the odd siren. Small but comfortable (red) room, clean. Very tiny kitchenette area.

My room had a teeny opening window so not much ventilation during this hot summer. However the owner supplied a fan which really helped.

Bed linen in green had white stains on it, seemingly hadn’t been changed. Spoke to manager - he was in what sounded like a nightclub, insisted obviously dirty looking sheets were clean. Promised a refund that never came. I had to move my staff in the middle of the night because read recent reviews also mentioning bedbugs. Owner promised refund which never came.

EXCELLENT VALUE. Very quirky,comfortable and clean room with a good shower. I loved the area. 18mins walk from Fratton train station. I walked to Southsea and Portsmouth. Albert Road has interesting antique shops, a theatre and many reasonably priced restaurants and takeaways to choose from. The Co-op is accross the road. Check in was very smooth with a manual door code. No worrying about computers going down. As a solo female traveller I felt safe.

The location, the cleanliness, the communication with the property... The location and nearby shops pubs etc were good. About a 15 or so minute bus journey from the main bus station, bus number 2 I think...

It was a cheap and cheerful booking, perfectly located however and quite easy to find. The room was small, the kitchen area tired and the 'cafe' downstairs closed... I was pleased I wasn't staying longer, but all in all OK for one night...

It was what I paid for - a good basic room and no frills. Nice decor. I cannot complain about any of it.

The room had a slight odour from the shower room - it wasn't a deal breaker. It's like a slight damp smell.

As others have mentioned, the location is fantastic, it's right in the middle of Southsea, and in reasonable distance of most amenities that you would need/want to visit. The room had everything that you could need for your visit, and on your doorstep are a wealth of eateries, with a convenience store almost parallel across the street. Parking wasn't too troublesome as long as you didn't get there too late, but this is generally expected wherever you are in Portsmouth. Instructions for entry were provided with sufficient time for me to ask any questions I had, and were very easy to follow. Overall, great stay, and should I be in Portsmouth again for work or pleasure, I would definitely consider staying here again :)

The only issue was a bit of noise during the early hours of the night from the street given I had work next day, but I'm sure that's possible wherever you end up in a populated area.

Good communication with host and a straightforward self-check-in. My single room was small but had everything I required, with use of a communal kitchen as well. Position was good - in the heart of the facilities of Albert Road, and a short walk from Southsea seafront. A good budget choice for a short stay.

Custom and bespoke

Hotel was quiet so had 2 undisturbed nights sleep. Very comfy and my room had a homely feel about it.

Well situated for the night life and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff.

I found the front door hard to open

This is the second time I've stayed here and again for the price it's got to be the best kept secret in Southsea. The white room was particularly nice, though your private toilet is along the hall with your own key but this didn't bother me.

A separate toilet for the White Room might be an issue for some.

Just location. It wasn't pleasant in general. So tiny.

No parking. No staff. dangerous stairs. The room was really small.

For the price, it's unbeatable. I was pleasantly surprised by the room, though quite small (orange room) was perfectly adequate with a private en suite

The location is excellent although a little noisy later at night. This didn't bother me but maybe a issue for some.

I gave the host my exact arrival time and had to stand outside in the rain as no door code or instructions had been sent. I left a message by voicemail, and fortunately someone who works in the bar downstairs let me in and took me up to my room.

this is the second time I stay at Acapulco Rooms, it is a very good location when visiting Southsea. The room has character and was very comfortable too.

I went down to Portsmouth for a Monday night gig on Albert Road. The area is full of bars and eateries and has some interesting shops. It's also only a ten minute walk down to the seafront. I also enjoyed a few pints in the quirky Phoenix pub just down the road.

The rooms are directly above a bar which was closed on the day I was there. Had it been open I think the room would have had a very different feel and been much less of a pleasant stay. My room had a shower but the private toilet was in the room next door.

This place is perfect for workers or travellers passing. Clean simple and comfortable. Live music on certain days local amenity’s within walking distance. Highly recommended

While it was clean overall, there were some blankets that smelt a bit stale

The location was amazing, surrounded by nightlife, restaurants and charity shops. The decoration was funky and cute.

The towels smelt unclean, which made me distrust the bedding. Had a good sleep regardless.

The property was easy to find, the pub downstairs was decent with the open mic night which was all local bands/artists, and it had everything that was necessary to stay.

The lack of air conditioning meant that the room got oppressively hot throughout the day. The kitchenette was only stocked with 2 sachets of Nescafé coffee, and no sugar. The underside of the bed had not been cleaned, meaning when I brought my suitcase along the floor a collection of dust, hair, and grime followed it. The bead curtains on the bathroom, whilst providing a certain je-nais-ce-qoui, seemed a strange choice.

Nothing as I have been bitten by bed bugs everywhere I wasn't going to leave a review as I got a full refund but I can not let anyone else go through this.

Small room in good price and location . There is a pub with live loud music until 11pm so if this is ok for you than no problem
