The views from the hotel were spectacular. Pleasant staff. Parking is limited. When we got to the hotel in the afternoon we managed to find a spot but once we got back after dinner in town we had to park on the road. There was free tea and coffee in the lounge which was a lovely touch. We stayed one night wish we could’ve stayed longer. Highly recommended
The views from the hotel were spectacular. We were there last month during the first week of September. Parking is limited. Got to the hotel and managed to find a spot but once we got back after dinner in town we had to park on the road. Pleasant staff. There was free tea and coffee in the lounge which was a lovely touch as the views from the lounge were amazing. Good breakfast. Rooms are a bit on a smaller size. Tea & coffee facilities in the room as well. We stayed one night but wish we could’ve stayed longer. Highly recommend staying at this hotel.
Every good experiences! Everything is perfect!
We arrived in Geiranger just as it was getting dark, so we didn’t realize what a view we had until the next morning—absolutely stunning! Opening the window to see the fjord was unforgettable. The hotel has a quaint, relaxing vibe, and the breakfast was hands-down the best we had on our trip. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Geiranger!
We loved staying in this historic boutique hotel which had excellent customer service, beautiful views from many common areas including our lovely suite. The restaurant food was excellent and so was the breakfast buffet. I can’t wait to return again some day.
The hotel is a gem in Geiranger. It sits up high in the mountain overlooking the Geirangerfjord. The common areas on the first floor are top class. One can watch the fantastic views of the fjord from within the hotel lobby (which has ample sitting space with views. The flydalsjuvet view point is literally 2-3 minutes walk from the hotel. The breakfast includes many choices to get the day started on a positive note. The most important and positive part of the service. We felt that the reception staff and kitchen staff really goes above and beyond to take care of the hotel guests. One special mention is Margo at the reception desk. She was super helpful with all the local information and was also fun to chat with. One minor thing about the hotel is tiny bathrooms and specifically shower stall. Even an average size person may have difficulty taking proper shower there. I understand the hotel is 100+ year old and they may have relatively recently added bathrooms for each room outside of that one concern everything is great and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.
The Hotel Utsikten is a wonderful smaller vintage hotel. We really liked the historic photographs that are on the walls around the building. It felt cozy there. Some of the rooms have a view of the fjord. The breakfast was good with lots of variety and options.
Amazing old hotel, stunning views. Excellent dining. Parking was easy. Great access to waterfalls and hiking
The hotel was in a crazy, amazing location. The views…jaw dropping. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. The historic feel is very charming and we woke to the smell of breakfast being prepared. Lovely experience
Nice place, staff was really nice!!! Accommodating our requests!! True five star hotel
Staff were great!!
Spectacular location, oversees the fjord, older property, but well maintained . Friendly staff. Only disadvantage is cannot walk to any place as it is high on the mountain but the view compensates for it. Can get busy with tour bus travellers .
Amazing Hotel in the midst of picturesque nature. Spacious rooms. And wow! there is a wonderful view even from the bathroom. Great vegetarian breakfast options. Please do provide the ingredients 'sticky note' on all the dishes so that it helps the Vegetarians to what to choose and what not to choose. It is a historic hotel with beautiful rooms. Seating area in the lobby is very beautiful. Complimentary Coffee, Tea and WiFi are very good. Parking space is available. Friendly staff. Loved our stay. Comfortable and wonderful.
Everything is good but has no elevator
Loved this place! Great location, view, and facilities!
Lovely small hotel, excellent breakfast buffet. Somewhat limited menu in the dining room but good food. Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were small as it is an older hotel . I was extremely disappointed to get a back alley facing room but you can’t have everything I guess Booked this place mainly for the view overlooking the fjord and it was beautiful
Incredible little inn right on the winding road half way down the mountain overlooking the Geirangerfjord. Free parking, great breakfast, nice restaurant, lounge area, rooms with great views, comfortable beds, and good wifi. What's not to like. Great short stay.
Breakfast is good, too much bedding, too soft bed, too expensive.
Great place. Beautiful view
Excellent. One possible gripe is absence of elevator.
Very welcoming reception, although we were early and our room was not ready we were given information about a lovely walk to a mountain waterfall. On checking in the receptionist was very helpful and talked about the facilities at the hotel. A lovely dining and bar area overlooking the fjord, the hotel is well maintained and clean. Be warned though there is no lift at this hotel - we took only a change of clothes for the next day and our wash bags to avoid having to lift heavy cases up to you room. Our room was small but clean and comfortable - we asked for a room overlooking the fjord with super views of the sunset. Breakfast was OK. Parking is available but limited. As we were checking out we were given very useful information about our next route, this helped us to avoid a huge detour due to road closures.
Hotell Utsikten boasts an absolutely stunning view of the Geirangerfjord — it’s hard to imagine a more scenic spot. The hotel has a classic Norwegian charm, with a vintage style that feels authentic and cozy. While the interiors show a bit of age, it adds to the character rather than detracting from the experience. A memorable place to stay if you value atmosphere and location.
The room and the view were excellent. Very historical and comfortable. The staff were very accommodating and thoughtful. We arrived very late after the reception was closed and Margo even left us some hot water for tea. Great stay, would definitely visit again
clean and quiet
The view of our room was amazing !
Lovely hotel with a spectacular view of the fjord. Restaurant food was excellent. Beds a little too soft but that's always down to personal preference.
The view, atmosphere created by the staff and hotel’s gentle grandeur was lovely, but our room was suoer hot (no air conditioning and a wall of south facing windows that only opened slightly) and the layout of the room was odd (likely due to limitations when upgrading the historic hotel). But overall it was lovely.
The staff was extremely helpful with our late check in. We loved the property and our room. The views were endless. Overall a great stay.
The room is a bit small, cozy, but no fridge, AC, no TV. Bathroom is very small. No Kleenex, as in most of hotels in Norway..Great view from the room. Friendly staff.
Fab view
Good location outside of the busy centre. Fantastic views from the hotel. Downside was tour coaches going pass the windows constantly until 16:00. Friendly staff. Food excellent.
The staff was amazing; very courteous and helpful. The room was good size and the views were amazing. We appreciated free coffee and tea for guests. The breakfast was wonderful as well with a wide variety of breads, cheese and meat. The location of this hotel is very convenient and the waterfall and fjord views are awesome! What was missing was a proper restaurant menu for dinner as the menu had very limited items to chose from.
The view from the hotel was exceptional. The rooms were small but pristine and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and had options for everyone including vegan and gluten free. Highly recommend.
Goed
Bra hotell med underbar utsikt. Fantastiskt kök med kanon mat
Wonderful in all respects.
Fabulous view
The hotel is older, but has so much character and history. Very clean and comfortable. The views are amazing! Staff was efficient and very personable. Very good breakfast with lots to choose from. Deserts were very good as well!
Unbelievable view of the fjord right from our room’s window. Very nice and helpful staff. Convenient parking just outside the hotel. Great hikes in the vicinity including waterfall, where you can actually get behind the waterfall itself. You can ask the staff how to get there. Would come back here anytime!
Heerlijk bed en kussens. Het uitzicht is prachtig. De badkamer is gedateerd maar functioneel.
Fantastisk. Konge-Suite med verdens bedste udsigt. Imødekommende personale & Fin morgenmad. Langt fra Geiranger by.
Great hotel. The stuff is very nice and friendly. My room was good. Love the nestle coffee machine and view from the lobby
Beautiful place with a perfect view. Staff was also super friendly and accommodating.
There are not allowed to enter the front desk area and nnot enough service including water n coffee. Too much tight room. No recommend to go
An absolutely incredible view from the rooms (although I think there are some that don’t face the fjord) and the public rooms. Small room and tiny bathroom but the view makes up for it. Excellent dinner although quite expensive, and a nice breakfast buffet. An easy walk up to the Flydalsjuvet View Point. Plenty of parking.
Amazing views
Great location! Great Breakfast!
Very nice location close to great view point I’d Geiranger. Hotel is very nicely maintained. The staff was able to answer our questions, but didn’t seem to be interested in connecting with the guests. It was our first time in Geiranger and first time staying at this historic hotel. We are eager to learn more about the town and history of the hotel as well as nearby neighborhood. However the staff came across distant and not interested in offering much information. The restaurant service also seemed to be quite slow and minimal.
Unbelievable view! Definitely get the fjord view room on level 3. The hotel is old so be prepared to walk the stairs- there is no elevator. The beds are comfy, but the bathrooms are super small & old.
Cute classic 100 year-old hotel above the town with a spectacular view of the fjord. Lots of little outdoor seating nooks and crannies. Older hotel with new quaint renovations. No elevator but only three floors. Our room was somewhat large and in addition to the bed had a little sitting area with a couch and two chairs and a coffee table overlooking the fjord. Absolutely beautiful. Hotel is right on the road with parking available. Hotel is above the fjord information center with the waterfall stair walk down into the town, but it's on the same level as the start of the behind the falls waterfall hike. Bed is very plush. Breakfast was very nice, with a view. Excellent stay!
I loved the view, the food and the staff was very nice too! You can walk 5 min up to a beautiful viewpoint. 45min down through a cute hike to geiranger. Easy accessible parking.
This was a lovely hotel and good value for money compared to other hotels we stayed at in Norway. It was actually my favourite hotel in the 3 weeks we stayed in Norway. The location is about a 5-10min drive into Geiranger where all the stores and activities are or you could choose to walk down. You do have to pay to park down in the town but the hotel parking is free. Their breakfast is incredible! I’m sure their dinner would be great too but we didn’t actually stay for supper. We did not stay in a room with a view but i’m sure these would have been fabulous. We loved our stay.
The hotel is in a great location and is old but the rooms are dated and the queen with view room was so small to get round the bed the other person had to sit on the bed, there is no room for suitcases to open without blocking the door out, no wardrobe but a rack with 3 hangers, no tv, the bedside lamps don’t work as the sockets are blocked, the bathroom is dated and tiny. There’s no lift so 3 floors of carrying cases. The dinner menu only has 3 items but breakfast is good. One night is ok, just , but anymore is a pain in the poky rooms. On the plus side the staff are excellent, friendly and knowledgeable about the area.
Property is very nice old hotel building, however, there is no elevator on this building so I have to carry heavy luggage to the third floor. I don’t think this is a hotel for elderly people. Service reception was exceptional, Margo, the reception member was so very nice and helpful. Thank you
Views of Geiranger are gorgeous. Breakfast was delicious.
Personeel is heel vriendelijk.
Had a great stay and would 100% recommend it for anyone staying in Geiranger. We appreciated being far enough up the hill to get away from the thick crowds of cruise ship tourists. Consider asking for a third floor room if possible. We stayed on the second floor and because of the slope of the road in front of the building it felt a bit like ground floor when tour busses come past! But even with a second floor room I still highly recommend this location. Rooms are tiny and bathrooms are dated, typical of a classic European hotel, but they are clean and comfortable. Service was excellent. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and both were excellent. Spring the extra money for the fjord facing rooms — worth it!
Although the room was small, the view made up fo it. The breakfast was outstanding, and dinner in the restaurant was excellent!
Wow! This such a great place to stay. The view is amazing. The classic charm is wonderful. It is an older hotel so there are no elevators. It may not work for everyone Highly recommend.
Beautiful location, excellent staff, great food.
Great hotel with a great view! Staff was super friendly and food was great.
Nice place. Great Views.
Charming hotel with an outstanding view and a super comfortable bed. The rooms are small and there are no elevators because it’s a very old building but it was great nevertheless. They also offered Nespresso in the rooms, which was a nice touch.
The property is beyond my imagination small. While it has a good fjord view, it's located If you have option don't book it.
Great hotel!
The view from the room is excellent.
I can’t say enough good things about my stay here in Geiranger. The town itself is breathtaking. The gentlemen working at the front desk were so helpful and lovely. And the restaurant was so great, I actually ended up eating there both nights during my stay. Would definitely stay there again! Thank you!
Nice view from the room
Best view in Geiranger. Nice staff. Very good breakfast.
True to its name, this hotel had incredible views of Geirangerfjord! It's also walking distance from the Flydalsjuvet viewpoint. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious.
An absolutely beautiful hotel and great service.
Yes, I would stay there again!! This is an older property but maintained well and as you will see its about location location location. Our room was small but its expected in Europe and these faculties. Staff was amazing and breakfast selection very good. Remember it the view!!
Fantastisk utsikt over Geiranger. Hyggelig personale
Unique property. Great staff. Great dinner
We called ahead when running late and Hans was most accommodating of our situation. He even met us outside to help us sort out parking after seeing us make a couple of passes by the hotel. Breakfast in the morning was a classic spread of Scandinavian "bread," which is bread, eggs, cheeses, meats, fresh fruit, cereal, and much more! We enjoyed wandering the hallways and other public areas to see the historic photos on the walls illustrating life in Geiranger during days past.
Fint rum med bra utsikt över fjorden.
Best hotel in the world. With a great view of the fjord
Underbart ställe, enda minus var mikroskopisk toalett/dusch. Mycket trevlig personal och god mat!!! Och vilken utsikt!!!!!
A charming 130-year old hotel. No elevator as it is an older building, not a problem for me, but might be important for some. The very kind and personable concierge was kind enough to help me with my luggage. Having the view of the fjord was a bonus. I was taking a car ferry the next day, and the hotel is conveniently located 10 minutes from the pier.
Viel zu teuer, kleines Zimmern. Preis nicht wert.
Beautiful view, but tiny room. No elevator, lots of stairs. Close to viewpoint, not close to town.
The view from our room was amazing.
We loved our visit here! Very historical and well preserved facility! We had two children and although the restaurant only hade an a la carte menu, not suited for children, the kitchen offered us both bolognese and sausage. Loved the location, away from the busy and crowded tourist part of Geiranger. And the view was absolutely amazing!
I really like the hotel, enjoy the terrace and the staff are so kind!
Flott utsikt og svært hyggelig betjeming
Koselig hotel med flott utsikt. God frokost og nydelig middag! Kred til kokken👍 Hyggelig personale.
Arguably one of the best views from the room I’ve ever had.
Burde fornye menyen noe mer her.
Beautiful hotel. Views cannot be beat! Breakfast was fantastic. Highly recommend.
