Reviewed Sep 6, 2026We stayed here for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. The location was beautiful, especially the view of the lake. The room was comfortable and relaxing, and it was the perfect place to slow down and enjoy some quality time together. We also had a great meal at the restaurant nearby, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. It was a special and memorable anniversary for us, and we would definitely love to come back again!

Reviewed Aug 12, 2026オーナーのテッドや他のスタッフがフレンドリーに気を配ってくれ、とても楽しい滞在になりました。レクチャーを受けた後、自由に遊べるサップで、娘と思う存分楽しめました。朝食のパンやプレートも美味しくいただきました。窓から見える、時刻や天気とともに変わる湖の景色もサイコー。こじんまりとしたお宿の暖かさとゆるさが居心地良かったです。
大満足の宿でしたが、あえて言うなら、朝食が8時スタートなので、少し早めに出たい時にちょっと悩みました。でも、他は言うことないので、またいつか「ただいま〜！」って戻りたいお宿です。

Reviewed Aug 9, 2026This is a wonderful little hotel to enjoy the lake. Comfortable rooms, very helpful and kind staff. Kayaks are included to visit Biwa island. Beautiful location. I truly enjoyed my stay.
While I was able to forest bath daily, there is some obstacle if you do not have a car. Only a few places are walking distance, and cabs are limited. However, the amazing staff was helpful in both suggestions on where to go, and helping me get there.

Reviewed Aug 3, 2026スタッフの人もとても親切で話も楽しく、とてもいい雰囲気でした！ 朝食も美味しかったです（とくにプレートが！）部屋から湖畔のローションもよく、SUPなども楽しく遊べたので野尻湖に行く際は毎回利用したいと思っています。おかげさまでいい旅行になりました。
難しいとは思いますがユニットバスでなかったら、よかったですが、それ以上にいいところが多かったので、しいて言えばという感じなので良くなかった訳ではないです。

Reviewed Jul 25, 2026I really liked how the hotel owner/operator had the tenacity to tell us to get the **** out of his hotel and refused to check us in because we did not inform him about our arrival time and he demanded an apology.
The encounter with the hotel owner/operator was one-of-a-kind. I really feel sorry for him for being such a bitter human being. You can read my google review for more details as to what happened, however there are tens of other places around that area one could stay at.

Reviewed Jun 18, 2026This was a great place to stay. We stayed 3 nights in May '26 and, as it was off-season, we had the whole place to ourselves! Consequently, we had great service and attention from the staff (Shotta) and the owner (Ted). They made our stay there very memorable. The rooms were comfortable with a balcony overlooking the lake. Breakfast was great and freshly cooked. I'd highly recommend this as a great place to stay and relax.

Reviewed Apr 23, 2026Love the hotel. Very welcoming, very clean rooms, love the scenic location, staff were very kind and went out of their way to be helpful. Quiet which is what I needed, authentic Japanese breakfast, option for western food also. I loved that this hotel was strictly non smoking (I’m very sensitive to smoking). Loved the option for kayaking, walking in nature. This hotel is for the person who also loves to interact internationally. I met awesome visitors from a young woman with a PhD in elephant behavior to one working on sustainable living, to one who built Japan telecommunications with Antarctica.
A bit of rain but even that was great because there is a beautiful sitting room that looks out on Lake Nojiri.

He was able to accommodate and suggest solutions - us, being there for skiing - he recommended an onsen which was clean and affortable - he allowed his staff to drive us to the onsen - to the train station - pick-up from train station - allowed us to rest in the lounge area until our afternoon department
Nothing to dislike - staff all very accommodating (Jason and Shuta) - hot drinks accessible 24hours (e.g. coffee, tea, hot water, green tea) - these made our stay very homely. we would certainly recommend it to large groups- in case you are feeling hungry, there is instant noodles available for purchase onsite

No garbage rules are simply insane. In no other property we’ve stayed in Japan during our last multiple trips any hotel had these kind of rules. Also the shoe policies are not smart and you have always dirty socks. Breakfast was not good. They should provide vegetables+fruits and no watery fried eggs in the morning. Overall great stay just some rules and the breakfast needs to be improved.

Reviewed Dec 27, 2025Such a lovely place to rest in the peace and quiet of Shinano between visiting big cities. Ted, Shota and Jason where absolutely wonderful hosts and we left feeling like part of the Lake Nojiri Family. Thank you so much for having us!
Having a better night light would have been great, and the town itself is very quiet in the winter (no fault of the resort) so just be prepared that not much is open - great excuse to take it easy and enjoy the location and rest!

Reviewed Dec 24, 2025The resort owner was very kind and friendly (as well as the staff). Be a responsible traveler, open your mind, you will find rules are just for people who need them. During the stay, we shared different experiences and thoughts. The owner is a wise man full of wisdom. I will definitely visit again in a different season to experience and explore more around Nojiri Lake.
Will be convenient if you drive around end of Dec. Restaurants nearby close before dinner probably because Dec is not a typical busy season. On the other hand, there is a small shop inside the resort that offers plenty of drinks, cup noodles, etc.

Reviewed Oct 27, 2025I think i was the only person there on my first night, Ted welcomed me in and was a great help with any questions i had. The local restaurants were closed for dinner and ted even drove me to one spot to see if it was open. Overall really happy with this accommodation

Reviewed Oct 19, 2025Nojiri Lake Resort is perfectly situated on the shore of Lake Nojiri, close to Benten Island. Our room had a lovely, enclosed balcony overlooking the lake. Our host and his staff were wonderful: thoughtful, friendly and always ready to answer questions.
We were very happy with everything.

Reviewed Oct 10, 2025Lake front, beautiful view from our room. The best thing was the way the staff went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. They were available on site and by phone to provide assistance. Also full of information about out of the way spots to enjoy.
If I had to say something for this category it would be the window frame at eye level when we were sitting in our room looking out at the lake.
