Location beautiful. Hotel lots of character and charm .
Heating in bedroom and bathroom. Less clutter on chest regarding jars of tea and coffee etc . Overload and kettle perched on end with short lead bit of a danger issue.
Pleasant staff, nice pub atmosphere, excellent breakfast. A nice change to have a Full English that was hot and freshly cooked instead of the somewhat tasteless cool food you get from many places that for cost savings provide a buffet breakfast. In a Bain-Marie or its equivalent the food is never hot and it becomes tasteless. Not at the Cavendish though.
Very comfortable
Nothing
Everything about it ,location ,staff , food the hotel was perfect , we loved our stay and we intend to come back again
No issues whatsoever
The location is great
The property is tiered the bed was very uncomfortable needs a new mattress
Staff very friendly and efficient apart from 1 rude barmaid on Tuesday evening
Nothing other than the above
Lovely vintage property, conveniently placed in village. Breakfast included in price and staff willing to adapt as requested if necessary.
Other meals and drinks overpriced for us.
Great location, excellent staff and great breakfast
Although it’s a very old building maybe the rooms could be updated and refreshed.
Great location, great food and a warm welcome.
Nothing really - rooms were clean and comfortable.
clean, very good / helpful staff. Excellent breakfast
small compact bedroom
Stayed here on a few occasions and find the staff, hotel and facilities to be first class.
The only thing we didn’t like which has changed from previous stays was the toast at breakfast. Normally comes out in a rack and you were offered white or brown. Now you get two little (very hard) pieces on your plate that if eaten would require you to visit your dentist for treatment. That’s the only thing that lets the breakfast down
Loved the balcony and the loose leaf tea
The restaurant food was excellent as were the staff who were very friendly and helpful .
The room that we stayed in No 7 was poorly decorated and the smell in the bathroom was very pungent also the sealant around the bath had separated maybe being the cause of the smell.
Lovely setting and room -7
It was the most expensive out of all the pubs but lovely place to stay.
Great location in the heart of Cartmel Village. Superb Breakfast, great staff.
Located in a beautiful village in south lakes
Nothing really space to drink only, other than the outside space.
Location, staff, beer garden, breakfast, dinner menu.
Room sockets fused on two occasions - wiring problem?
We stayed in annex room in the old Post Office which was a nice change and also had a great view
Excellently located, very clean and welcoming
Great location, food and drinks were excellent. Bed was comfy, surprisingly modern bathroom.
Rooms were small and in need of decoration. We’re also quite dusty, in defence of this the building is 100’s of years old
Building is >500 years old with uneven floors and cranky walls. Brilliant change from modern boring hotels. Tea and coffee in rooms very high quality. Breakfast well cooked and delivered promptly.
Nothing
Location, great service and excellent meal
Nothing
The staff were lovely and the room good value. We loved the breakfast being included. We booked a snug room and it was compact but perfectly comfortable for one night. WE also loved having leaf teas available in the room. The gardens at the rear are delightful for a drink and the bar is full of olde worlde charm
Some of the decoration in the room was a bit battered and in need of decorating.
Very quaint and peaceful.
Nothing
Good location, nice selection of drinks. The food was really nice , very nice breakfast
Nothing
Great location, helpful and friendly staff. Bed and room were comfortable. A really nice breakfast that used quality ingredients.
Our shower over the bath was only a handheld one and we would have preferred one fixed to the wall with screen or curtain.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and catered for specific needs. The breakfast was excellent, Evening meal was very good. The room was well-stocked (including cafetiere and tea leaf rather than instant and tea bags!.
Room was just a bit cramped - no room for a chair; but the bed was comfortable. There is a problem of lack of parking but that is not within the control of the hotel. It is expensive to park overnight.
Lovely restaurant in a really nice town
Nothing much, staff were obviously rushed off their feet
In a lovely location and very quirky, pub amd restaurant lovely and gorgeous food, staff amazing and the breakfast to die for 😍
El edificio tiene mucho encanto. El desayuno es fabuloso.
Nuestra habitación era muy pequeña, no había espacio y la cama era incómoda.
Everything
Location was excellent. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice, not too big portions and well presented. Bedroom comfortable, although we knew we were in a small room it was perfectly adequate. The building was lovely and owners had maintained the historic vibe but modernised for today's market.
Nothing. Suited us perfectly.
Comfortable room, good breakfasts and evening meals.
Only double beds not king size ! Limited menu choice if staying more than one night.
Breakfast, dinner and service were amazing as always. Always a warm welcome, staff are friendly and will go above and beyond.
Friendly staff great location, selection of teas and coffee in the room. Excellent breakfast
Our room was small but for 1 night was fine
The staff were really friendly and the room was a great size. The bed was extremely comfortable.
It would have been good to have a fan in the room, given the heat and a shower curtain in the bathroom
Very nice place good breakfast and lovely staff
Drinks very expensive
Beautiful building. Excellent breakfast. Cosy pub. Clean & spacious rooms.
Shower in bath could do with an attachment on wall to hold shower head.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Book a taxi in advance as they're like gold dust!
Bar was cosy and a nice atmosphere. Garden area was pleasant. Welcoming look from the outside. Breakfast was good with quality ingredients and a friendly waitress.
Lack of parking (understandable but would like to have been warned that it would cost 13 for an overnight park). Food was rather average and expensive. The bed was marketed on Booking.com as extra large double. This was the reason we booked it. The accommodation website said deluxe double but it only had a normal double.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and obliging. The location could not have been better for Cartmel Racecourse and the excellent Lake District Book Festival.
Fantastic location, friendly staff, spacious bedroom, food was excellent, fantastic beer garden
The only thing I was disappointed with was the bathroom, no shower apart from a 'shower head' you had to hold up yourself, really poor water pressure with virtually no hot water so ended up having baths.
Lovely traditional pub location perfect
Quirky historic pub, with beautifully restored rooms.
Nothing
Lovely and clean, great location, beautiful village, great breakfast.
Nothing
Such a warm welcome from the staff and the ambience was warm and comfortable after our long journey. A lovely room with a comfortable bed and a bath which is always a plus 😊
Nothing
Great location
Very warm room
Loved the extras in the room, fruit tea options and coffee
No parking, parking is an extra £10-£13 a night
Beautiful old property with lots of character
Nothing
Great location, easy access to visit various places and attractions, train station only 1 minutes by car.
Nothing
The place is charming and full of character, We had booked a standard double but were given a complimentary upgrade on arrival to a king size which was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Wish we could have dined there as the food looked great. Would definitely stay again.
Location and food
Could have had a small fridge for water.
Lovely old coach house, great beer garden, good communication from them regards parking on a race-day. Breakfast and dinner where lovely. No complaints, will be staying again!
Wonderful old building in the heart of the village of Cartmel, very handy for everything local. Very nice staff. Great breakfast. Bar and bar food also good.
Room was a bit on the small side. Limited sockets and plugging in the kettle had the wire at full stretch.
Great location, lovely bar and restaraunt
Room was dated, really dated! Tiny little tv that didnt actually pick up any channels. The shower was handheld and it seemed impossible to get the correct balance of temperature. Pity, the room itself was nice, very spacious but janky. I dont understand why the fittings are so bad in such a beautiful building. Breakfast was poor, there was only one person working and they kept you waiting a long time
Proper northern hospitality., fantastic welcome and thr location is superb. Great food and some lovely beers on draft.
A few gremlins with the room anf a little bit of noise at night but it' was race weekend.
Staff great Room very clean Excellent breakfast
Only there for one night. Our room was called "The Snug" for good reason. - It was small wiith just the bed & two bedside cabinets. No room for any seating
Right in the heart of Cartmel we had and evening meal on the Saturday one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time and reasonably priced, staff are lovely we had the balcony room overlooking the beer garden with lovely views nice to sit out with a coffee in the morning
If I have a negative it would be the mattress was probably past its sell by date and could do with renewing however the bed linen was quality and the room was spotless
We had a fabulous stay at the Cavendish Arms . I highly recommend this hotel 10/10 Charlie and Athena were so nice and helpful . Food was delicious . Will definitely be going back .
Nice olde worlde feel upstairs in the bedroom. The food was fantastic, lovely fresh roast and the smoked salmon for breakfast was delicious. The staff were great, excellent service starting with booking a table on the Sunday evening…they juggled a few plates to fit us in.
Very little. Hasn’t checked the small print so didn’t realise we’d get a bath instead of a shower but that was hardly an issue
Comfortable hotel in perfect location. The pub with rooms above has a lot of character.
We had a beautiful, spacious room. However the bathroom had a bath with a hand-held shower attachment. No curtain or shower screen so had to have the shower while in the bath. The room had fresh ground coffee and loose tea with a teapot and cafetiere. Felt a nice touch except there wasn't a table to make it all on, and fresh milk would have been even more welcome. So quite a mixed experience. The staff at the hotel and restaurant changed every day. We were there for 3 nights. Some were excellent, others less so. Some consistent training might be helpful.
Everything! The staff were very friendly and personable. The food was good and we really enjoyed our stay. Cartmel is a beautiful village to visit and tbe cavendish arms is a good location for visiting the lakes
Very silly minor things that we spoke to the owner about as he was keen to rectify any issues. This is the way minor things should be dealt with on the spot
The whole experience was very welcoming- from the moment we arrived we both felt immediately at ease and part of the family. It has been maybe 30 years since I visited the Cavandish and it is just as wonderful now as it was then. Room was light, welcoming, spotless and very comfortable. Food and drink were first class and the staff were fantastic- really can't wait till we go back.
everything was prefect, there was nothing to fall out about.
Good to both
Staff friendly. Food great
Nothing
Wonderful location. A very warm welcome from friendly staff. Delightful period property.
Excellent position in Cartmel. Room was lovely, nice comfy bed, great shower. Breakfast good
Perfect location
Small room but it was perfect for 1 night stay .
Clean and comfortable
Brilliant location - especially if eating at L’Enclume as it’s a 30 second walk away!
Bed was a little tight on space. You do have to walk from the car park to the hotel - it’s about a 3 minute walk, just remember not to take lots of bags!
I love The Cavendish. Eaten there a couple of times, popped in for a few beers when local, never stayed there. We had a great time. Lovely and attentive staff, and probably the best “pub grub” I’ve ever had. Couldn’t recommend more. A beautiful pub in the heart of Cartmel.
Nothing. All absolutely A1.
The staff were all super friendly, the room was cosy. Fantastic beer garden next to a stream. Food was way above our expectations for a local village pub.
Quirky amazing old pub
Showers a bit weak
Food, was fantastic, would say best Sunday lunch had in a while. Loved the cheeseboard, good value and cheese to biscuit ratio. Staff attentive. Breakfast nice to be included in price as lots of places now charging. Breakfast was lovely way to start the day
Room was nice and cosy, could do with a little touch ups if had to be picky. Electric showers never ideal but understand in old buildings and cost to renovate
Great place to stay and the area
Service very good, and food was excellent Good pub atmosphere all round
Excellent breakfast and service. Excellent location. Lovely pub.
Bathroom a bit tired and due renovation
Room was lovely and the food was amazing
Lovely oldy worldly place run by a French couple and others who are charming, warm and welcoming. We had a great stay
It was a little noisy from around 07:30/08:00 however, we did notice that this may have been due to room refurbishments taking place?
Very convenient location. Room clean and comfortable. Warmly greeted on arrival. Great choice for breakfast.
Some new pillows would be appreciated
Love the pub and the food. They were fantastic with my allergies in the restaurant. It is a great location both to travel in to the lakes and for enjoying all Cartmel has to offer.
Loved the restaurant, buzz in the bar, great food and staff were lovely and helpful.
We had an excellent dinner and a good breakfast. The staff were all very efficient, polite and helpful. If we visit the area again in the future we will return to the Cavendish Arms.
Nothing, everything was very good!
The staff at the cavendish were lovely very welcoming and friendly. My husband and I had a lovely stay, very cosy room and lovely breakfast. Would recommend staying here and look forward to staying again in the future
The breakfast was beautiful and we was made to feel very welcome
Nothing, it was all wonderful
Breakfast was good
