Good location for exploring the area. Easy to find. Lovely ambience and friendly staff. Good food. The room we stayed in was large.
If you are not a dog person the majority of guests had dogs. If you're not a doggy person don't let that put you off, as most were well behaved.
Breakfast very good especially the porridge
All ok
Perfect location. Breakfast was very good. Bed was comfort and clean. Coffee station facilities were good. Parking was great. Dinner was very good.
If we were to stay again we would book direct and not through booking. com so we could upgrade if we needed to. Also appreciate it’s rather late in season but staff all seemed rather tired and found it hard to smile.
Location lovely. Excellent breakfast. Quiet. Bar staff very welcoming.
Room very small. Just enough room to walk around the bed. Carpet very stained. ok for one night but unsuitable for any longer. Shower room had nowhere to place place even a sponge bag. Smelt of drains. evening meal very average. Would eat elsewhere another time. Our welcome was very brusque.
The location was ideal for exploring , North Norfolk
It was very very busy
Breakfast was very nice as was the evening meal.
I thought it was very expensive for a one night stay. Room was very nice but being 6ft 2in was constantly concerned about banging my head of low doorways
This is an olde worldy pub/hotel. Lots of character, and in a lovely Norfolk village. The staff are great and the food was excellent.
Not a lot really. The place is that popular maybe a bigger car park.
Great little Gastro pub, amazing quirky Accommodation, amazing food and the staff could not be more helpful…even rustling up amazing Vegan food which was not on the menu!
Excellent hotel. Delightful staff. Dinner and breakfast very good indeed. Our room (small) opened out onto a small private courtyard which was particularly welcome during the heatwave.
Great customer care and delicious food especially a well prepared breakfast Fresh flowers in the dining room. Attentive staff young and helpful
Perhaps during hot dry summers a small fridge would be useful
Our second room (2/3 nights) was very good. It was airy and the bed comfortable and a decent size. The bath in the room was good. The shower was excellent
In general room prices were very high for the facilities although the second room was much better value though more expensive. The first room was cramped and if the bed was larger than a double it was not by much. The mattress topper was either misaligned or two small for the bed. There was no mirror light in either room so going to the loo in the middle of the night risked waking my partner up by turning in the main light. Tedious! The large floor fan for the loft room (first night) was broken, the replacement desktop fan was totally inadequate to the task. The room temp didn’t go below 27° all night. When I asked for a room change I was offered an upgrade for £75 more - fair enough it was a much larger room with a larger bed (it seemed anyway) but there was no offer to offset this additional fee against a discount for the appalling night’s sleep that we’d had in The Loft, rather it was explained that this couldn’t be done because we’d booked through Booking.com. Booking.com have subsequently tried to talk to The Gin Trap about this and tell me the TGT have failed to respond to the query. Customer service was ‘corporate’.
Friendly staff
This was a last minute booking as my original booking was cancelled by the host. Booking.com said that i needed to get an invoice that states £0 as they would cover this booking. I have heard nothing and I had to pay the full amount. Not happy.
We've stayed at the Gin Trap Inn before on our cycling tours of East Anglia and so planned our itinerary again to take in this stop, right on National Cycle Route 1. It's luxurious, with nicely appointed outside rooms and an excellent restaurant where we had a very good dinner.
Music at breakfast, unnecessary.
Staff were exceptionally helpful when one of our group tore her ankle ligaments and had to cut short that day's walk. All very friendly. We stayed in one of the self contained cottages and, although we didn't need the kitchen, it looked well set up. Property was very clean and well presented. Food (dinner and breakfast) were excellent.
Exceptional place , stunning interior and exterior, the food was outstanding . Staff were super friendly and accommodating
Nothing
Dinner was very good, breakfast was probably the best cooked breakfast i have had anywhere, and the room was very cosy. All in all a great find.
All Good
Everything except the evening meal. However breakfast was very good
Poor choice of menu for evening meal and overpriced. There were pressures on staff but service was very slow and we waited an hpour for a meal
Lovely room within the pub grounds with private outdoor area. The Gin Trap Inn is a friendly local pub serving excellent meals. We had an evening meal ( risotto was really tasty) and a good selection of local ales was a nice bonus. The staff were very welcoming and overall we had a lovely stay here. Definitely stay again.
Very nice and friendly staff.
Food was nice, but limited menu for a three night stay. Weather very hot, but no salads on the menu.
Beautiful
Nothing
Loved the covered outside area.
Fantastic breakfast
Maybe the ‘dog friendly’ room could be the one on the ground floor with access to the garden instead of it being in the attic???
Lovely pub with rooms. Friendly staff and lovely food, it ticks all the boxes. It is always busy and so you need to book ahead.
The room was very comfortable and roomy, breakfasts were plentiful, dinner was a bit too extensive and upmarket for our small appetites but looked good for big eaters.
Choice of lagers at the bar were a bit strong and though ok I would have preferred lighter alcohol content lagers (eg, Fosters, 1664, San Miguel.)
We stayed in the compasses cottage and we're very surprised how large it was. Like having our very own townhouse. The food in the restaurant was spectacular and the beer in the pub was great. Hard to find Abbot Ale and they had it, our new favourite.

Gorgeous pub and accommodation. Food was perfect and the outside seating area was a lovely addition- luckily we had a sunny evening so could enjoy it!
Only let down was the pillows were very flat and I had to use a cushion to put underneath. In the bathroom there were all the fittings for a blind but no blind! Also it would have been nice to have some instant coffee as an alternative to the cafetière - i find it too strong- but that’s just my preference!
Beautiful cottage staff very friendly
Lovely cosy country pub, warm welcoming staff and our cottage was great.
Our cottage was nice but a lot of stuff that wasn’t really necessary. Could have done with side tables rather than a large coffee table. Gives you extra leg room.
My father recommended the Gin trap My only comment would be the vegetarian options were extremely limited Also the selection of beer specifically real ale was limited
THE STAFF ARE A GREAT BUNCH AND ADD TO THE EXPERIENCE ,THE ATMOSPHERE IS COSY AND COMFOTABLE
Breakfast was excellent quality and very tasty.
Larger bed but there is the option for bigger beds.
We had a lovely room "The Stables"..2 floors which was much more than we were expecting. Bath in the room..lovely toiletries & fluffy gowns..refreshments & welcome cookies..fresh milk!. Will looked after us from checking in till departure. He was lovely & helpful & attentive. Dinner was delicious in the evening & breakfast too. Very relaxing & good value for money.liked the 10.30am check out too.
Nothing really!..it was a relaxed atmosphere..staff were busy..but it all flowed nicely.
Liked the food and loved the old country pub atmosphere. General Manager was also extremely kind and helpful.
Eveeything, Lovely staff, great food, breakfast was amazing, porridge best my husband had ever eaten!
It was in a great location, the room was very comfortable and quiet. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly.

Location, general ambiance.
Our rooms was call the Snug. Maybe a little too cosy, no room for a chair in the bedroom. Otherwise great.
It’s very nice food good staff very nice especially the young lady at breakfast . i would recommend the porridge omg it’s amazing
nothing
lovely, food was served in a proper garden room/ conservatory.. menu offered plenty of choice and quality was excellent. A cut above many other establishments. I chose smoked haddock & poached egg with chive sauce which I have never been offered before!!
Personally, nothing but due to the age of the building the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and not easy to negotiate.
The food was incredible and the pub is so snuggly!
Great place to stay, excellent room and breakfast. Staff were lovely
Nothing
Cosy, friendly, very clean, excellent food. Very welcoming
Room was very very warm overnight. Not a huge issue though.
Lovely homely pub/inn that we enjoyed having a drink in the evening and cosy family cottage, perfect for our 1 night stay. Amazing breakfast, no complaints
Dinner was excellent and my husband said his breakfast was fab. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming.
The staff were very friendly, made us feel very welcome. The room we stayed in was just perfect, very comfortable and clean. The service was great through out our stay. We will definitely be back.
Its a gorgeous pub with superb food. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and you get a mixture of traditional pub with some modern twist. Staff were very accommodating and friendly.
Preferred it when the cereals, juice, yoghurts etc were self serve on our first visit. No sugar and salt free meusli. I was able to have a bowl of granola. Too much sugar and dried fruit.
As above. Carpet needed cleaning. Perhaps a washable floor would be more suitable.
All the food was excellent. Rooms were very cozy. Friendly staff.
Cosy pub and friendly staff. Excellent food and good drinks selection. Nice mix of locals and tourists in the pub.
Room was a little on the small side but perfectly good for a long weekend stay.
Great place to stay for short visit
Food excellent and good service. Easy to find and park. TV and Wi-Fi package very good.
Room was too small.
Breakfast was excellent, very friendly service
A beautiful setting, with lots of character and tasteful decor. We really loved the outdoor space/terrace, very sociable!
The shower in our room was on the small side but it really wasn’t a big issue, the bathroom and bedroom (Stable) was a gorgeous space with everything you need and a lovely comfortable bed.
Location, room food
Staff pleasant but not very attentive, drinks we ordered and waited for had been forgotten We had to get them ourselves, breakfast extremely slow taking order then had to wait 20 mins to get coffee and toast then longer for the rest.
Sunday Roast was amazing and the breakfast the following morning as wonderful as always.
Nothing
Delicious breakfast. Good choices and lovely relaxed atmosphere
Viel zu weiche Betten
Lovely boutique style hotel. We stayed in the Warren dog friendly room with large wet room with safety rails which was a nice surprise as I needed a walk in shower due to mobility issues. Nice enclosed patio at the back for our dog who was very happy with all the attention from the staff at breakfast especially the sausages. Fan in room very useful as room got very hot and couldnt leave door to patio open due to flies which is no fault of the hotel. Nice touch of welcome G & T and homemade cookies. Lovely outside bar area with comfy seating and large parasols for shade. The only thing I could fault was the very limited menu for dinner, only 4/5 main meal options and 4 desserts. What we did have was good but would of liked more options. Breakfast however was anazing, loved the whisky porridge and the cooked Norfolk breakfast.
Location and the look of the property
Cottage was dirty, not equipped for the 4 guests staying, 3 mugs, 3 plates, 2 bath towels. Coffee/tea refill station in reception never replenished, poor restaurant service in the evening. Items on restaurant bill that weren’t delivered to the table. Tried to charge more than the quoted booking.com price which was already high due to the heritage live concerts. Fed back to stand in manager as manager off sick and never heard a thing after waiting 10 days despite being promised a call back. Slapdash and disappointing for the hugely inflated price charged.
Nice touch with the welcome cookies and complimentary g&t at the bar. Big beer garden with a few different areas to relax. Decent dinner and small (if not ordering the full English) but tasty breakfast. Helpful staff at the bar, restaurant and reception.
The room (loft) was small with not much storage. Small windows and got hot at night. Already addressed at check out - the room was quite dirty - cobwebs, sand in the bath(??), stained bedspread. It wasn’t the charming stay I expected from a place recommended by the Sunday Times.
The property is decorated really nicely with lovely bath products and robes which is a nice touch.
The decor wasn’t perfect, big scuffs on the walls and the room was very small compared to the other North Norfolk pubs/hotels we have stayed in.
The location is very nice , staff pleasant and rooms are clean .
We had previously stayed at The Gin Trap in November 2024, and had the most amazing experience which promoted us to visit again . We arrived on Thursday 21st August 2025 and immediately knew things were not the same . The checking in process which was previously in main reception outside was now in the bar area , and did not seem so personal . The room we had was outside from the main pub which looked lovely but was very small . We booked for dinner on all 3 nights of our stay but where very disappointed with the menu choice , after talking to the staff it appears that they had had a change of owner and a corporate company called “ Chestnut” had taken over . This was not for the better .!!
Excellent two nights stay, wish it had been longer. Fabulous restaurant and breakfast. All staff members very friendly helpful and professional. Very well stocked bar.
Beautiful room ( The Gallery) sadly only stayed one night. Breakfast was delicious, excellent Burton Bangers ! Would happily return for a weekend stay Many thanks to you and your staff

Lovely accommodation, restaurant and outside seating area. Fresh milk for people staying at the Gin Trap
The loft’s bathroom door needs some TLC for a quiet nights sleep.
Cosy and yet spacious room
The staff were super friendly and helpful yet at service times ie lunch and breakfast they were stretched. A very few staff and the property was full.
Dinner portions were ridiculously tiny
2nd time staying in this beautiful pub in a lovely & convenient location and very dog friendly. Our cottage was gorgeous with everything we needed. The breakfast and food menu is good and delicious.
We were notified that a Gin Festival was taking place on Saturday which we was happy with however, the band in the garden played till about 11pm and was extremely loud, too loud for chatting and we had to locate to the front of the pub to enjoy drinks and a chat. So would likely avoid the Gin Festival next time.
Breakfast. Relaxed atmosphere. Free G and T . Village setting
Small main portions at dinner. Children meals were larger than some of adults!!
Really great location for visiting local family…also chic and low key with lovely food and great staff
Nothing
Good good.Pleasant staff. Nice building. Oo
Expensive food and small portions. very noisy with buzzing right outside window all night. Very noisy neighbours late at night. Nowhere secure to put bicycles.
Breakfast was decent, the bacon was over cooked that was the only thing(hard) Dinner was also very nice, just note the menu is limited, but what is served is nice. The room was very nice, cosy but with everything we needed.
Before 830 nowhere else to go before breakfast and no use of any other wc before 830, not the end of the world though.
The location of the Gin Trap are second to none, just so beautiful, quiet and tranquil.
The king bed was 2 singles pushed together and the mattress was very uncomfortable.

From the moment we checked in to the moment we left everything was lovely. Amazing staff. All very friendly and very helpful. Bedroom was lovely and we had a little outside area at the back with a table & chairs which was really nice and backed onto a field so it was very peaceful. Bedroom was nice & clean. We had also been left 2 delicious cookies and 2 vouchers for a couple of free G & T,s which was a lovely touch. The inn is Lovely inside and has an amazing outside area too. Great location and the village is very pretty. Breakfast was very nice and you could have anything off of the menu. The Norfolk marmalade porridge is highly recommended. It was delicious. We also ate here 1 night and the food was very good. The only thing I will say is that there is not a lot on the menu and there was only one vegetarian option which was a bit disappointing. I think that there should defiantly be more vegetarian and even vegan dishes. I also think that it would be great to have a mini fridge in the rooms for the milk supplied for the drinks as you had to collect milk from a fridge in a room near the front of the property. It wasnt a problem but I just think having a small fridge in the room would be better. We had a really lovely time and would defiantly return. Thankyou to everyone at The Gin Trap for a Wonderful Stay x
There was nothing we didn't like
Room was lovely, great breakfast
I didn’t like that as a lone female I couldn’t lock the downstairs to where I was staying ( the loft )evening meal was very poor
Fab room (the stables) over 2 floors. Great character! Excellent location and lovely staff. Food and drink selection very good.
Our whole stay at The Gin Trap was lovely. The room was small but great with a little outside seating area, which was lovely. A fan had also been provided in the room, which was great as it was 30°outside! We had a fabulous Sunday roast dinner at the pub and enjoyed drinks in the lovely garden. We also had a full English breakfast, which was delicious and so well presented. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. Would highly recommend.
Lovely food in a beautiful setting . Great ambiance and decor.
Fabulous staff and food!
Small room and inefficient fan. (But it was very hot so they could not help that)!
Exceptionally helpful staff. Beautiful location. All the extras made a real difference eg complimentary G&T, delicious cookie, fresh coffee and milk, sanitary hygiene products etc. Loved the toiletries
Great location.Beautiful decor and lovely facilities in the room and pub-stunning seating areas in the garden.Fantastic service-every staff member was so helpful and friendly.Great small touches like the complimentary G and T and cookies in the room. Breakfast and dinner excellent

Not quite the experience we expected based on a recent glowing write up in The Times which informed my decision to book 2 night stay for my husband’s birthday. Very limited restaurant menu - only 1 vegetarian main option. Husband had pie that was recommended- small portion, disproportionately served compared to the size of mash & cabbage. I Requested a side salad to add to my starter as didn’t want the only vegetarian menu on offer. This was poor in terms of lots of lettuce leaves, 3 tomatoes & a few shavings of radishes- disappointing Food offer not good value. Staff friendly but made us aware they are in transitional phase with recent takeover plans of the business, they are awaiting a chef, lots of staff have left etc. Doesn’t fill you with confidence. Our room was nice but a very small bathroom, shower needed a deep clean. Housekeeping did not leave us clean towels, despite clearly visible our towels had been used & were damp! Had to keep asking for clean cafeterire to be replaced & milk to make coffee & tea as no fridge in room. Fire alarm went off at 10pm - false alarm then fire service arrived. Told by staff they have faulty system & thus had occurred several times recently! They have a nice wood burner which we sat in chairs in front of, but this was not lit, instead had a fan heater next to it to keep us warm, not sure if they don’t bother in the week & only lit at weekends? Seemed odd & a ’can’t be bothered’ approach Would not rush back- should have been better
Nice Country pub with dining. Rooms are individual and nicely appointed. Nice touches in the room including a sample of their gin and homemade sweet treats.
Lovely little touches , super friendly staff loved it here
Lovely pub and accommodation. Well through out, fantastic staff
Nothing!
Easier access to milk in rooms. There wasn't any in the fridge first day.
Great quiet place, lovely bar area, friendly staff and great food all round. Decent room, easy to park
Thank you to the staff at the Gin Trap Inn for a lovely stay. Truly authentic English pub experience with great food and ambience. The staff were helpful and considerate throughout. Couldn’t really ask for more.
Breakfast was excellent
Service charge in everything i had a bill for drink and dinner over £1300 as it was birthday party and the service charge was exorbitant thought i was in America
The cottage we stayed in was just perfect! It was well furnished, had fantastic beds and facilities and it felt like a home from home. The staff at the Gin Trap were so friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts were amazing. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.
