Honestly the room is lovely, but it’s the staff they actually can’t do enough for you and they are so down to earth… I always stay in hotels and the staff at this one, were the best I have ever seen 10/10

Breakfast and food great but the hotel room was grubby and in bad condition, the toilet door wouldn’t shut, the mirror was rusty! Carpet dirty and the handrail on the stairs filthy! We won’t be going back, pity as the restaurant is great and staff lovely

It was really super clean, staff were friendly and they have a restaurant and the food was great. They provided drinks making facilities

The mattress was really uncomfortable lumpy and felt like springs were coming through. They need to have a toilet roll holder rather than being stacked on back of toilet . The outside door needs a lock on it as it was constantly left open and it wouldn’t take a lot to break into rooms

It was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was very nice. Check in lady was friendly.

We were put in building across the road. It was a bit shabby, a lot of paint coming off in bathroom, some cobwebs in room, remote control has never been wiped, no hand towel, green light above bed was very bright all night. There was nowhere to dry your hair in front of a mirror, had to stand on the bed as mirror was high above. When handing in key nobody asked if we had a nice stay, was barely acknowledged.

Welcoming,and we had what was requested re.the room. We were later arriving and they were still able to offer a good dinner.It was a carvery which was about to be cleared but they kept everything for us.

The double bed creaked badly as if broken.Biggest problem we were unable to get cold water from the shower and it was very hot.

Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Room and linen was clean with good selection of tea and coffee. Cavery was good value for money and well cooked.

Bed was uneven (mattresses and base didn't line up, creating large ridge in centre of bed extra large double). Unfortunately, we did not sleep well as guests above us were extremely loud, rude and drunk waking us up at just gone midnight and wandering around above. The floor boards creaked at every step. They then proceeded to be equally as obnoxious at breakfast. Breakfast was disappointing, burnt toast and mushrooms, daughters poached egg was very overdone and dry.

The customer service was excellent and the meals were exceptional

We stayed in the cottage the rooms were clean but tired. Rather noisy road at night.

The cereal was already allocated to the table. There wasn’t any orange juice available, and we had to request milk for the cereal. I don’t eat a cooked breakfast but it appeared look fine.

The shower( the shower head kept falling on the floor). The kettle was situated where there wasn’t a socket available. All the carpets were grubby.

Lovely comfortable room that was nicely decorated. We ate an evening meal that was good and reasonably priced. It was perfect for what we needed. The staff were friendly especially at the bar and we didn't wait too long for anything.

The bed was a little uncomfortable. But I guess that's a personal preference. And breakfast was a little over done in our full English which was a shame.

There was absolutely nothing to like about this inn.

The following ..... The room was filthy, thick with dust and looking very past it's best. Badly in need of redecoration. Bathroom door would not shut, Refreshment tray had not been refilled, Tv would not work as there was no aerial lead attached. The furniture in the room was peeling paint and the trim was falling off. We decided that if this was the standard practiced by the owners, then the kitchen would be the same - filthy, so we did not eat there. Honestly, find somewhere else to stay, avoid at all costs.

Stayed here last year and very happy to come back again this year and probably will return in the future. Ideal location for my roadtrip. Accommodation in the building oposite the Pub was excellent. On site parking was a very handy thing. Room was spacious with an ensuite shower and a room fan...most useful in this heat! All very clean. Very pleasant staff. Breakfast was excellent. Happy to recommend.

My room was perfect 👌 comfy beds, nice set up and great location. Staff were spot on with there hospitality, the restaurant/pub was so nice inside lovely place and food was amazing.

There was a fan which helped in the heat. The bed was fairly comfortable. The staff were helpful and the food in the pub for dinner was very good.

Our room was on the front of the inn, on the road side and the traffic noise was loud. My husband found the music playing in the pub very loud and intrusive till 11pm both nights we were there. The most annoyingvthing i foundxwas the toilet seat which was very thin plastic and moved or bent when you sat on it ( too much information, but true).

Smooth check in and attentive to our needs, very friendly staff . The room was exceptionally clean, good supply of towels and toiletries. After check in staff came to room to see if we needed anything else and to check that we were happy. Breakfast was exceptional, all good quality produce and excellent portion size, good value for the price. Big shout out to Keon and Katina for their friendly attentive service throughout our stay and especially breakfast. We cannot fault the Anchor Inn and we highly recommend it.

Very noisy AC unit right outside the window then they started partying at 12:00am at night the music was soo loud the floor was vibrating i asked for a refund which they gave me straight away with out any problems but no care was given for the people staying in the hotel with the amount of noise

Now where should I start, the staff were excellent both in the evening and the morning. They were kind, friendly and courteous and made me feel welcome and they are all a credit to the establishment. I had a traditional english breakfast, fresh juice and excellent coffee, and came with massive slabs of toast, it was hot and amazing and so tasty, the service was excellent. The room had a fan due to the heat (I did not have to request it, it was already there). The bed was extremely comfy, I lay on the bed and fell asleep straight away. There was a wedding reception going on and even with the D.J. music it was still quiet enough to fall asleep. I would very gladly stay here again without a shadow of a doubt. Bountiful parking.

The bathroom needs a bit of damp sorting out (may need a bit of renovation). The shower door leaked a bit. Also there were a few cobwebs on the shelf in the room, which was high up on a high shelf, and seemed to be missed when cleaning (although I still feel these minor comments do not outweigh the positives. I would gladly stay here again. I truly believe it is very much value for money and a wonderful place to stay.

No communication after a 5 minute booking . Didn't stay as wrong location. Wasted £70 . Very disappointed ☹️

No hot shower!!!! It was cold in our 2 rooms and they haven't replied when I have asked for a discount !!!

The room was a decent size, a bit quirky, I’m used to staying in chain hotels with no character, this was lovely in comparison. Bathroom was tiny and not super practical but nothing bad enough to put me off. My room was right above the pub but the noise didn’t bother me once I had my (usual) earplugs in for the night. The staff was very caring and went out of their way to get me the VAT invoices I needed for work - clearly not a request they usually get. They also added a desk in the room so that I could work. The food was excellent at the pub and the portions quite big. I will stay again if I need to be in the area in future.

No air con. I was lucky to stay there the week before temperatures went up. Had the roof window opened at night and slept really well.

Room 19. Was lovely had a conservatory ideal as we had a dog with us. ....The wet room needs attention. The water doesn't drain away properly The sink tap. & The toilet seat. How much would it cost to get one that fits the toilet !

My only issue was with the access to our room - a steep flight of stairs, and no handrail. The room itself was cramped - but adequate for our stay.

Typical of a good B&B. Clean, tidy room. Tremendous breakfast! Attentive staff. Decent loos. Good play area for little ones. I left my sunglasses behind and received a call less than half an hour later to say they'd been found. Huge thanks :-)

It was good food and good value.

Being mobility challenged the stairs were a problem but we coped with it.

We enjoyed the congenial atmosphere. Ordinary but pleasant. No airs and graces!

Rooms could do with a little update

The room was pretty, very clean and comfortable. The restaurant was excellent and I got excellent table service. The breakfast was excellent freshly cooked, delicious and brought.to my table.

I had to cross the main road from the room to the restaurant which wasn't what I expected but now that I know it wouldn't prevent me staying there again

The main menu food was excellent and very good. The room was exactly what you would expect for a low cost stay. Parking was onsite, motorbikes visible from the roads but there were no issues overnight. The breakfast was excellent, the morning staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we wanted and needed. Nothing was too much trouble, we were very well taken care off..

All lovely food and drinks are excellent

Didn’t like the people next door or below not sure which one. Slamming doors and screaming kids.all this was around 12:30/1:30 am on Saturday night but Friday night was all good.

A wardrobe in the bedroom or at least a hanging rack would have been good but appreciate that there was no room in the bedroom.

A warm welcome, good evening meal and a comfortable room in a house over the road.

Not as strong as a dislike, but breakfast didn't match up to the evening meal. Would be great to have some yoghurt, granola, fresh fruit etc.

Clean and comfortable rooms with a great bar and restaurant. The staff were very helpful and welcomed our border collie with open arms
