The property is beautiful, right on the beach! Or hosts Maria and Doug were so amazing, the did everything to make us feel welcome, they even invited us to join their family for Fathers Day dinner. We highly recommend Small Fry’s Resort, such a relaxing place to be and the food is also very good! For us it is 100% the place to be 😊

Great room (the VIP) with ocean view! They cook great meals, and you can cook yourself, we made fried fish, fried rice, Hungarian sausage, coconut shakes, etc. etc!!! The owners, and the people running the place her as friendly as anyone on Negros Island! They even let us use their kayak to snorkel to Ticklin Island (the most clown fish I’ve ever seen!

I actually loved the accommodation . Owners were very hospitable and considerate. I rescheduled the date earlier and they offered me a VIP room in a discounted rate! In addition, my family met new friends there. Their friendly dogs,

The atmosphere was next level. Truly felt like I was staying at a friends guest house . They left us be in peace but treated us like old friends when we went to the entertainment facilities. I tracked the world and this was a top 3 stay in terms of comfort and value

The lack of time I had to stay there. I’m not a fancy luxury person , was plenty of things to keep my busy body pleased yet ultra comfortable to chill

The VIP room was perfect for us. Very spacious, with double bed and bunk beds for the kids. lovely balcony to watch the water from, with a power outlet conveniently located, so i could work on my laptop from there. Food was really good, and reasonably priced. The place was a surprising little gem. On site tattoo studio was an interesting addition.

The stairs to the upper level were quite steep, and this made lugging the suitcases up and down a bit of an effort.

Die Zufahrtstrasse ist bei Regen überschwemmt, aber passierbar. Das Personal war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Zu beachten ist, dass die Steckdosen nur für philippinische Stecker ausgelegt sind und man unbedingt einen Übergangsstecker dabei haben sollte. Einen Schrecken erfuhr meine Frau bei der Ankunft. Sie hat Angst vor grossen Hunden und wurde gleich von zwei freilaufenden Doberman Hunden begrüsst. Die Hunde waren sehr freundlich und verursachten keinerlei Probleme. Für jemanden, der Angst vor solchen Hunden hat, ist es trotzdem schwierig.

The other reviews didn't lie when they wrote the staff are so friendly. Absolutely friendly and accommodating. I didn't bring toothbrushes and the main contact, this nice lady named Josephine, immediately offered to run to a nearby store for us. I tipped well, of course. It's an older structure but the place is clean and the beds comfortable. Super value for money. Highly recommend.

Stray dogs one time appeared by the beach but they weren't dangerous and seemed used to people

I stayed for one night and it really feels like home, all the staff were very friendly. aaand the two dogs omg very adorable. The place is very relaxing, would definitely come back a thousand times. Good Job to the owners! 💯💯

I loved the laid-back chilled atmosphere and the family feel. The owners are very welcoming and make your stay super easy, relaxing, and friendly. The room was very large and clean with all you would need to cook your own food if you wish. Good restaurant and great value. I loved the balcony to chill with a coffee in the morning with a pleasant view.

It's a rough road to get there.

Absolute amazing owner Doug, his wife and all staff: friendly, warm, helpful. You really feel welcome at this place! We booked the big VIP room, which is huge, comfortable, completely equipped and quiet. Very good bed! Drinkable water will be provided. TV with Netflix channel, good WiFi. Amazing view from the huge terrace to the seaside.

We have been the only guests, this might have been the reason, that a lot of food choice was not available for dinner. But no issue for us, because we had a rental car, enough restaurants in San Carlos. The boulevard there is a must : BBQ and fresh fish in good quality and cheap. The road from the national highway to the resort, about 1km, is an absolute mess, urgently needs pavement. But not an issue of the resort.

Doug and Maria have assembled a great team who made the stay into a beautiful few days of beachside relaxing. The room was perfectly clean and super comfortable. The location is excellent. Their slogan is "come as a guest, leave as a friend", and they really live by it. At the same time, they completely respect your privacy.

Maria and Doug have put together a lovely team of people who do everything they can to make your stay perfect. Their slogan is "come as a guest, leave as a friend" and it fits perfectly. That said, they also totally respect your quiet time if you want it. My room was great. Very comfortable. Very well maintained. Everything worked all the time (which is not always the case in the Philippines). It was exactly the few days of relaxation that I needed.

The breakfat was good.

The bed was terrible. No table and only a cher. Ther was no sink and the late hand hand mocked shower handle was defective. This is the most horrible room i have ever had. We would have liked to have lunch outside but all the tables were occupied, we had to sit on a wooden bench avd enjoy the way. Is this something to serve the customers. The food good, but several of the dinners were not available. Was told the owner didn’thave time. I think the owner should find anohter job,if hi couldn’t get food for his customers. To conclude, this one of the worst place i have ever been. If i’m going to give you any advice, tou have to put the customers first,they’re the ones you have make a living from. I will never recommend this to anyone.

Location on the water was key for me. Close to San Carlos too. Good menu to select from. Nice bar set up. Love the dogs.

Short Rough road to get there but not bad.

Wonderful place and people. The cantina is nice. My only complaints are that the towels were super soft almost like microfiber and wouldn't absorb anything at all. So bring your own towels. One other thing, the road approaching is horrendous, simply awful. Oh and the dogs ... They are so nice, love those dogs!!

A real neat resort outside of San Carlos, Negros Occidental. It had a beautiful sunset and sunrise. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Their restaurant had very delicious food As an American, I needed that delicious Taste of American. And their American style hamburger hit the spot. We had a few drinks and great conversation with the pleasant and gracious owners; Doug and Mary. Thank you all. We will be back next year... ❤️ ❤️

The living space was spacious with plenty of outlets and beds, the upstairs kitchen area allowed our family to cook, dine, and watch movies, the on-site restaurant was great along with billiards, ping pong and aquatic equipment was very helpful. I and my entire family recommend this resort and it's staff.

Amazing... In affordable price

There are two big doberman dogs on the property but the owners were very accommodating of the fact I was bitten by a hostel dog in Dumaguete a few days ago so they upgraded me to a different room so they wouldn't be near me. Staff exceeded expectations and the room was very clean and comfortable. WiFi was functioning which is pretty rare in the provinces and there is food available which is useful as there isn't much available in Calatrava. The dogs bark during the night which isn't ideal but I would still recommend this place.

The staff is the friendliest and most helpful 2 people I have ever met. From the moment we arrived they were right there to answer any questions or take care of any concerns. Also she is a wonderful cook. My only recommendation would be to revise the menu as a lot of items are not available. I would suggest guests bring the staples as far as food and cook in your room, we did. The facilities and beach were very nice. I would certainly recommend to my friends.

Very nice resort. The beach is beautiful and the sunrise just amazing. The people are very nice and the food was great. The burgers are amazing. We plan to stay again someday.

Beautiful scenery. Shark decor, plants, light beach colors, balcony, bonfire pit, kayak equipment, floating cottage, pool table, bar, kaorokee bar, and delicious Longenisa food. Owners are very hospitable and staff very friendly. Room is cozy and artsy.

The owners,Maria and Doug were waiting at the ferry terminal as arranged.They were smiley,chatty and warmly welcomed us. This is a family resort and the home cooked foods are delicious,plentiful and very cheap. The kindness and service are second to none. The staff made us feel very special. This was our first vacation and all we wanted was sun, sea and sand,,,,,the loving kindness , smiles and service were a dream come true .We swam and kayaked in the clear blue seas, ate and drank on the floating raft. The bar is well stocked with ice cold beers, wines and spirits.A massive TV screen with unlimited cable, movies, heaps of music and karaoke. Our room was clean,air conditioned with a comfortable bed and en suite, towels, toiletries, wifi and cable tv. On leaving Doug and Maria took us to town to meet my girlfriends family and waited until her mom finished shopping. They then took us to the ferry where we said our sad goodbyes. These guys gave us treasured memories and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. We are returning soon for a family party. Edrock PS,,,squid, crabs,fish sinigang sweet and sour, pork adobo & chicken,,,,yum, yum :) loved it!!!

Very nice resort. They pickup us up and dropped us off in San Carlos for free. When we were there the water was calm and crystal clear. The beach is very nice and they have kayaks, tubes and snorkeling equipment you can use. There are pretty lights everywhere at night. It is very romantic for couples and they made campfire for us on the beach. But no marshmallows. :-) The food is excellent. We tried the sinigang, and the baby back ribs.

The owner and his wife are truly amazing people and cater to every need. Pick up and drop off at the port or terminal. I will be back here again and again, I cant say enough about this place. You will not find a place better anywhere in the Philippines. Beach volleyball, Jet ski and Banana Boat rides, Kayak, floating cottage, pump boat, Billiards, Table tennis, Darts, and the list goes on. Did I mention ICE COLD Beer.

This is my second visit to SmallFry’s and I really enjoyed my stay again. The last time I was here I tried some of their delicious local Filipino dishes and their amazing homemade BBQ hamburgers. This time I tried the grilled fish. I even got to help choose it from the fisherman’s wives who come by the resort almost every morning with fresh catch. The staff and even the two cute puppies and are very friendly and helpful. The owners picked us up and dropped us off in San Carlos like last time. The beach is clean, well maintained and perfect for beach volleyball at low tide and water volleyball at high tide. I plan to come back again next year and will bring more of my volleyball friends.

Very nice rooms but bad service and bad food! Dirty beach and owners dogs run loose. There is no restaurant just food service. Only 2 items were available at the time we were there. both terrible There is no juice bar as pictured! There is a fantastic bar indoors however no bartender or even a sign to tell you where it is.

Amazing hidden place. Be expecting a night of new friends and karaoke. Has a beautiful beach with kayaks available. Nice place to relax for a few days. The service and owners are amazing. Will definitely be planning a trip back.

Small Fry was a wonderful place to stay and they were absolutely amazing to my family and I. We stayed there multiple nights. Sometimes with our two young children and one time alone as a couple. It is a perfect place for a family, large group, or a couple that just wants to get away. The food was amazing and there is a lot of things to do including karaoke, swimming in the ocean, playing darts, or playing pool. There is also a full bar available. The staff is so friendly and they are able to pick you up at the ferry dock in San Carlos and help you with transportation. If you need a place to stay in the area (whether as a large group, family, couple, or solo) this is the correct choice. They were absolutely wonderful and helped create many memories for my family. For that I will always be extremely grateful.
