40 Bernisdale - The Sabhal

The property was a beautiful farm setting with modern cottage facilities and was very close to Portree … Simply a 12 minute drive. The little cottage that we stayed in, called the Sabhal ( barn in Gaelic) was newly renovated and every detail was thought of to make it comfortable and quaint…. Adding to the serenity was the sound of sheep in the nearby pasture. Our hostess Rachel thought of every detail, including having milk, coffee, tea, bread,j jam and eggs for us to start off our stay. So thoughtful! The location was perfect, beautiful setting, and close enough to Portree and the area highlights. Rachel was very friendly and helpful, recommending a lovely hike in the area to save us from the crowds of some of the other ones. We highly recommend the Sabhal!

Muy buena ubicación para moverse por Skye. Silencioso. Te dejan cositas para el desayuno (huevos, pan, leche, cereal), lo cual es un buen detalle. Pedimos toallas extra y no dudaron en darnos unas nuevas.

Abbiamo trascorso un soggiorno meraviglioso in questa struttura, che si è rivelata fantastica sotto ogni punto di vista. L'alloggio è grande, spazioso e tenuto con una cura straordinaria per ogni singolo dettaglio: la pulizia era semplicemente impeccabile. La casa è super accessoriata e dotata di tutti gli elettrodomestici necessari per un soggiorno in totale comodità. Un'attenzione speciale che ci ha davvero scaldato il cuore è stata l'accoglienza: al nostro arrivo abbiamo trovato un vero e proprio "welcome kit" con tutto il necessario, tra cui latte, uova fresche, burro, caffè e tisane. Un gesto per nulla scontato che fa davvero la differenza dopo un lungo viaggio. Molto comodo anche il parcheggio privato proprio presso la struttura. Inoltre, la posizione è ideale: da qui è possibile raggiungere comodamente ogni angolo dell'isola. Se cercate un posto curato, accogliente e perfetto per esplorare la magia di Skye, questo è il luogo ideale. Un grande grazie a Rachel! A presto!

We stayed for four days on the Isle of Skye, at the Sabhal accommodation: it was perfect! Rachael is very welcoming; the accommodation is clean, very pretty, tastefully furnished and very practical. Having some groceries and toiletries provided is that little extra touch! When the weather’s fine, it must be lovely to enjoy the little outdoor area. We also loved being so close to the sheep on the farm. Thanks again for everything – we’re leaving the Isle of Skye with a heavy heart!!

Diese Unterkunft ist wunderbar ruhig gelegen und dennoch ein guter Ausgangspunkt für die Erkundung der Insel. Das Zimmer, wir hatten den button room, ist wunderschön und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, fast so als ob eine professionnelle Designerin am Werk gewesen wäre. Überall schöne Details, man braucht eine ganze Weile, bis man sie alle bewundert hat. Die Küchenecke ist sehr gut ausgestattet, ebenso das Bad, und alles ist tip top sauber. Ganz herzlichen Dank auch für die Bereitstellung von Toast, Milch, Eiern, Tee, Nutella und Butter. Man muss nicht hungern, wenn man es nicht mehr zum Einkaufen geschafft hat. Wir kommen wieder.

In my opinion the bed was uncomfortable but big

Die Gastgeberin führt ihre Unterkunft mit Liebe und Herzblut. Sauber, freundlich, hilfsbereit. Obwohl wir ohne Frühstück gebucht haben, standen Milch, Eier, Butter, Tee und Cafe, Brot zur Verfügung. Absolut topp. Sehr geräumige Zimmer.

Absolutely gorgeous retreat. Beautiful decor and lots of comforting home touches. Having milk and bread etc on arrival is an especially lovely touch and helpful as the shops are around 10 miles away.

Only 2 things to mention the TV doesn’t seem to have normal terrestrial channels but it does have access to iplayer etc The first night the neighbours were very noisy which had they have stayed longer would have ruined our stay but luckily they left after one night.

Fully self-contained apartment in a standalone building with 2 apartments (make sure you note which one you have booked as the style of each one is quite different). Located on a farm type premises with the owners in the main house and sheep in the shed. Two friendly dogs but didn't see much of them. Did enjoy feeding the lamb in the shed! Located about 20 minutes from Portree so good for the top part of Skye (heading south takes a while so if you want to visit the whole island you might want to book into two locations). Weather on Skye is infamous: we had 3 days blue sky to 2 days rain which is pretty good. The accommodation is very comfortable for catching up on your reading. Plenty of parking - you will need a car to stay here. The adjacent area of Skye includes Waternish which we enjoyed. Easy to find on the road between Portree and Dunvegan.

Self-catering facilities were not quite good enough to fully self-cater (two ring stove, toaster and kettle) and a microwave and/or air fryer would have helped. Eating out on Skye is a pain - places either close at 5 or cost ridiculous amounts of money - so we self-catered as much as we could.

Wir dachten es sei ein Ferienhaus und brachten Sachen zum Kochen mit . Es gab keine Backröhre . Die überaus freundliche Rachael bereitete uns an beiden Tagen unser Essen in ihrem Ofen zu . Ganz lieb ! Es war schön dort ! Wir waren erstaunt was man alles aus einem Zimmer mit Kochnische machen kann . Es gab sogar Bademäntel . Sehr empfehlenswert .

Rachael is the best host ever. She is friendly and helpful and has wonderful stories. The property is beautiful and we fell in love with their pet lamb Angie. The room was beautifully decorated and toiletries were environmentally stocked. We were easily able to cook a simple dinner when we couldn't get a reservation to eat out. The location is perfectly located and allowed us easy access to all parts of the island.

Everything! Host was sweet and prompt. The house was lovely, comfortable, and cosy. There was milk, coffee, tea, butter, jam, salt/pepper, kitchenware etc provided for, as well as toiletries. Private parking lot! Love the view from the balcony door. Wish I could stay longer in Sabhal.

I loved everything about our stay. We spent 3 nights here and I couldn't recommend it more. Rachael was really kind and respectful. We even found eggs, milk, bread, and other lovely treats upon our arrival, which was such a lovely surprise.

Rachel made our stay in Skye lovely. Everything about The Sabhal is done to a high standard from the great shower to the comfortable bed and great kitchen equipment. The location is the ideal base for visiting Skye and a short drive to the pubs and restaurants. Would recommend to anyone planing to stay on Skye.

The room was spotless and comfortable. The host was even kind enough to provide some food essentials. Can't recommend enough.

Perfect situation for two couples traveling together! The accommodations were lovely and in a beautiful setting. So many pretty and clever design and decorating aspects at the Sabhal and the layout was comfortable and well thought out. We enjoyed sharing meals together and found all that we needed for simple preparations. It was a pleasure to find fresh eggs, bread, butter and jam, coffee, tea, cocoa and cookies (biscuits). I also found the milk frother to be a wonderful invention, a perfect touch for morning coffee and cocoa. I now own one here at home :^) We found the location to be as hoped; central, peaceful, quiet with sheep in the fields and birds in the sky.

We enjoy meeting the host families we stay with and found Rachael to be engaging and welcoming. We regret that our mutually busy schedules did not allow more time to touch base. I still don't know the backstory behind the charming button wainscotting. I am sure there is one!

This was a comfortable and convenient place to stay. The owners provided us with some provisions which came in quite handy. We enjoyed our stay here.

Die Lage auf der ruhigen Seite von Skye ist ein Traum. Die Ausstattung ist sehr gut und ausgesprochen geschmackvoll und wirklich wunderschön! Alles ist sauber und gemütlich. Wirklich toll, wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen!

Der Tisch ist ein bisschen zu klein.

Sign on the highway could be bolder. A mat at the entrance and just inside would be helpful to ensure that the guest keeps this lodging pristine. A microwave for self catering cooking would be helpful and paper towels to aid clean up. A little table outside with the chairs would be a nice addition. All in all it was clean, sweet, comfy and quiet with a lovely host.

Die Gastgeberin Rachael war ausgesprochen nett und hübsch! Einige hochwertige Nahrungsmittel sind bereits vorhanden. Das Duschbad und das Shampoo waren spitze, ich habe jetzt noch den außergewöhnlich angenehmen Duft in der Nase 😊

Really liked that some essentials ( bread, milk, eggs) were provided for our arrival. The space was a lovely size for the two of us. Very comfortable bed. Excellent shower room and toiletries The view towards the loch. The quiet and remoteness, even though it's only a few miles from Portree. And we'd great weather.

La struttura è accogliente, piuttosto spaziosa, attrezzata di tutto anche del superfluo, a disposizione saponi,bagnoschiuma,creme da bagno di ottima qualità, pulizia eccelsa, colazione continentale buona con a disposizione anche uova fresche.siamo stati accolti con estrema gentilezza. Una piastra elettrica da posizionare sull'angolo cucina attrezzata per fare scaldare e cuocere eventuali cibi si è rivelata utilissima Non saprei cosa aggiungere, ê stata un'ottima esperienza da consigliare , un pochino caro ma nella norma della zona . Da aggiungere la presenza di un ottimo ristorante nei dintorni chiamato: skeabost house hotel

Location for us wasn’t the best

The property is beautifully presented and very comfortable. There were lots of provisions for us, such as cereal, jam, butter etc, which was lovely. Rachael was so welcoming and helped us feel at home. Having the outside area to sit in was great, and the three lambs over the fence were an added bonus!

We usually like to stay within walking distance of eating areas and/or a pub, so we were a little out of our comfort zone here, as the car was necessary for everywhere. But we knew that before we booked and adapted our habits accordingly. The accommodation in Portree was too expensive for us, and this place was within our budget and so amazing, that it was worth making changes to our plans.

Well set out and suited my purposes admirably. A lot of thought had clearly gone into what was provided and the background information was nicely pitched. Loved the pet lambs and the visiting hoodie craws.

Comfortable compact modern semi detached unit in very quiet rural location, 7 miles from Portree. The owners provided some welcome provisions despite the local shops being low on supplies. The two ring mobile induction hob was quick and useful.

There were only two items of cutlery and crockery therefore requiring frequent washing up.

The Sabhal was easy to access, well marked upon arrival and a designated parking spot outside. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We loved seeing the sheep and lambs outside on the beautiful landscape! We had our own private entrance into the room and we were welcomed with plenty of coffee, which we drank most of😊, and tea, bread, milk, jam, eggs, milk and I’m sure I forgot somethings because what we had was a perfect start to our day with what was left in our room. The room was very quiet and decorated with simple detail in mind. We had a perfect sitting area outside which we didn’t use because we were out during the day enjoying the Isle of Skye and the amazing weather we had during our stay. We were sorry that we didn’t get to chat with the owners due to missing them coming in and out and my phone not accessing my emails, which was no fault of the wonderful wifi access we had there. I would recommend The Shabal to anyone staying in Skye, it was the perfect location and a perfect choice for our stay!

Not a thing!

Everything! My daughter (a seasoned traveller) said it couldn’t be faulted. The property was delightful as was Rachel the owner. We had a great time, it was an excellent base for all our excursions, being about 15 mins from Portree but away from the hustle and bustle of a tourist town. We arrived at almost midnight due to an accident on the only road onto the island and Rachel having heard, had turned on the lamps and heating, it was very welcoming as were the milk, bread, eggs, tea and coffee for the next morning. This really is an excellent place to stay, our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. Thanks Rachel for making our visit even more special than it was going to be. ❤️

There is nothing not to like about this property. It is exactly as portrayed in the online photos.

Very comfortable room. Clean and tidy, well presented. Rachel was very friendly and welcoming, even contacting us halfway through our stay to see if there was anything else she could do for us. She provided a number of basic items for self-catering (cereal, milk, tea, coffee, bread, etc). Very restful, nice and quiet, and easy sleeping.

There was nothing to complain about as far as the accommodation was concerned. But if you intend eating out in Portree, I'd recommend booking in advance as the local eateries were often fully booked.

Everything was exceptional. The bed was comfortable, the shower was great and the room was nicely furnished. It was very quiet at night. The host, Rachael, was very helpful in providing information on what to see on the Island. Rachael kindly sent some items we left behind back to Australia for us. It was close to a local hotel that served nice meals. We would definitely stay there again.

Friendly host, quiet off the road

Rachael, our host, was friendly and very helpful. She provided us with an email about how to access the room and had provided some groceries to help us settle in. We loved the location and the freedom to walk out on the property to get excellent views of the water and surrounding mountains. We arrived during lambing season and had a great time watching the lambs with their mothers. The room was very comfortable and clean. An exceptional location to get away from the crowds.

The room was beautiful and wonderfully appointed, Rachael added several very thoughtful touches such as fresh eggs, milk, butter, jam and bread along with some snacks and tea and coffee. The accommodations were conveniently located not too far from Portree making them convenient to most of the popular sites on the island.Rachael was easy to reach if you had any questions. I would highly recommend The Sabhal to anyone visiting the Isle of Skye and I look forward to a return trip back!

Everything was amazing. The property is very spacious, super clean and very high quality bed. The bathroom as well was spotless. The host allowed us to check in quite late and left us some bread, egg and milk to get the day started which was very helpful. Location is very good as well, being 10 minutes away from Portree.

It is the perfect place to stay on Skye, central for hikes and visits. The room is calm, big yet super cozy and has everything you need ,decorated with great taste and Rachael’s warm welcome and great tips top it all! There is no better place than the Sabhal.

We loved everything about our stay at The Sabhal. The place had the intimate feel of visiting friends on their family farm. Rachael and Ally were very generous in allowing us access to their property and answering all of our questions. Lambs were born during our stay and we loved watching them follow their mums around. The lodging was well thought out and provided all our needs. We wished we could have stayed longer! We hope to return in the future.
