We absolutely loved meeting the sweet resident cats, Bella and Ella, and having complimentary kayaks to take out on the peaceful lake. The room was wonderfully comfortable with breathtaking views, reliable Wi-Fi, and the heated bathroom floor was an amazing luxury. The overall atmosphere was incredibly chill and grounding, and the smooth check-in made our arrival effortless.
There was honestly nothing to dislike about our stay. Everything exceeded our expectations from start to finish, and our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!
The facility is absolutely unique. Location view of the lake set up of the room beautiful
While we were given access to the Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi did not work or was extremely slow and would not load website pages. This made doing work very difficult. We tried phoning our children, but they could not hear us and we could hear them, but no ability to actually communicate.
Sehr schöne Anlage direkt am See, mit direktem Blick und Zugang zu diesem.
Beautiful and very quiet
My sheets had a stain on it
The location was great with breathtaking views. Hot tub, Sauna, option to make bonfire by the lake at night.
At this point unfortunately the breakfast advertised on the website was not available. A new restaurant is however being built and will be opening soon.
The property is direct on the lake. The rooms are a bit on the smaller side, but inside really nice and modern.
Absolutely beautiful setting. Quiet. Shannon and Janet were wonderful.
Loved all the options for spending time together... large deck and picnic table with view, waterside chairs, cliff chairs, covered outdoor sitting area, hammocks for relaxation, hot tub, and sauna were awesome too. And then the indoor lodge livingroom area and free coffee tea space and outdoor deck were beautiful and very relaxing. We definitely hope to stay again!
We would not do a late check-in again; we easily found our rooms and access, but we were not aware of some of the spaces available to us, specifically, the lodge indoor sitting area, which would have been perfect for our evening activity. A bit more information about the property and accessible areas prior to the arrival would hav e been really helpful.
Very comfortable. Beautiful view of lake right from the room
Location was a little further from the town than I thought
We loved everything about the property. The lake and mountain views were stunning, the ambiance was relaxing and very enjoyable, we took advantage of the hot tub with the complimentary tea in the early morning and walked down to the lake. Being greeted by the friendly kitties was a nice touch as well. The lady that assisted us was super friendly and more than helpful and pleasant. We cannot wait to return.
There was nothing we felt that could be improved, everything was exceptional.
Wet relaxing and beautiful spot
Na
Hot hot tub and sauna perfect for a relaxing get away
View from the window
When we arrived there was zero signage to tell you where to go, what was what, where the spa was,( well to call it a spa was a joke) It was 6pm. Our bed faced the French doors which opened out onto a public shared walkway and the blind was broken so you had zero privacy when in the room. We were travelling across Canada and really looking forward to using the facilities but they were no instructions, or directions only a disclaimer which should tell you everything you need to know about the owners. We finally managed to get hold of someone who arrived around 10 pm and he fixed the blind ( temporary fix) so we could go to bed without being disturbed. We felt as though we were a nuisance rather than a paying guest. We love a cup of tea in bed in the morning, but there were no facilities in the room. You had to get dressed and go outside to walk to a communal area to find a kettle. It more like a clamping site than a hotel/lodge. Such a shame as with some professional management and customer focus it could have been wonderful.
Great place to stay as a romantic getaway for a couple. We'll be back
We had our two large dogs with us and they were welcomed.
Beautiful view, great rooms. The host was very nice and our breakfast was delicious.
Overall, Sentinel is a peaceful and lovely place. Nice hot tub and sauna. It’s not convenient to restaurants or grocery. Sentinel advertised common kitchen but disallowed guests from using it. There is only a medium sized shared fridge and small microwave. Limited staff. Believe long term guests acts as staff on some chores in the property. Potential of a top rate facility but refinements are necessary.
The property is unique, nice and quiet. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
What an amazing experience. We will be back 100%
The view was beautiful! Staff was very courteous
Very tranquil
Location was lovely
Design of room was odd. Plug ins and switches in weird places. It was an expensive place to stay, so I’d have thought the quality of toilet paper and tissues would not have been so cheap. No one there to check us out.
Fabulous location and extremely quiet. Beautifully situated Scandinavian simplicity in rooms that could be a bit larger
Property itself great
Our experience started with a lobelt rext from janet welcoming us and checking to see when we would arrive. Upon arrival we were greated by janet and the onsite dog clyde. We received a lovely tour and then was taken to our room which was amazing. The view of the mountains and lake from our bed was spectacular. I would recommend the Sentinal to anyone.
A perfect blend of luxury hospitality, healing opportunities, and access to nature. The therapeutic potential here is amazing. Gillian and Richard have built something singular and remarkable. Come with an open mind and spirit, and be rewarded beyond words.
Everything was perfect during my visit. The following is an observation, not a complaint. Pleasant and friendly dogs roam freely on the resort property on a daily basis. This can pose minor challenges for owners of dogs reactive toward other dogs. The resort management will do everything possible to accommodate everyone. At times you may see a need to temporarily confine your reactive dog.

Fabulous stay. Spectacular views from our room.
We had one night stay at Sentinel. We were looking for secluded and quiet area for our couple getaway. The property was clean and breakfast was awesome. Only feedback is that owners live on the property and always there in the main kitchen and coffee room which kind of made the whole experience little bit wierd. They were all nice and welcoming though.
The Sentinel is operated by the kindest, most humble staff you could ask for. The location is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views and impeccably clean rooms. No matter how many nights you book, you’ll wish you had stayed longer. We love this place so much, we’ve chosen it as our wedding venue and the staff have been incredibly helpful and accommodating every step of the way.
Absolutely incredible! Everything was perfect and cozy.
Unique, comfortable and peaceful
The rooms are elegant and spotlessly clean, as are all the buildings you have access to. The landscaping and environment are so beautiful. Beds comfy, beautiful view, healing sessions are available, had an outstanding Shiatsu deep tissue massage with Peter in the Yurt.
An absolute GEM… one of the best experiences ever! We just happened upon this place but will be back! And for an extended stay! This place literally made our trip unreal!
The place is big and nice.
Such a tranquil, beautiful property overlooking the lake with beach access. Very clean, friendly the lovely breakfast made with fresh produce from there garden
The Sentinel is a unique experience. It's location is it's main draw with incredible views of Kootenay Lake and the surrounding mountains. It's main dining and living area is also a gem with cappuccinos, amazing views and natural light and friendly staff. The breakfast ($25) is also excellent. Kaslo is an amazing little town. Lots to do and an up and coming Mecca for mountain biking with the best trails in BC. Rooms are lovely and the heated bathroom floors are a lovely treat. The only reason for the 4 star review is that the rooms have paper thin walls and sound from all the surrounding rooms (snoring, talking, etc...) are easily heard - make sure you have a white noise app on your phone. Well very likely be back for a third visit!
Nice room, nice view, excellent hot tub and sauna as well!
If you are looking for a place to get away from the crowds and enjoy some nature, the Sentinel would be an excellent choice. We didn't want to stay in an ordinary hotel room, so chose the Sentinel because it was right on the lake, with beautiful natural surroundings! The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Amazing breakfast the next day for $25.
We didn't realize that we needed to arrive before 5 pm in the evening. I don't remember the manager or guest services mentioning this to us.
The beauty around this property is astounding. The lake, the mountains, fantastic. The staff and facilities were perfect. There has been great care taken to make this location peaceful and intimate. The hot tub was fantastic, deep and cedar with the stars at night! Can’t beat it. They would prepare the sauna when requested, firewood no less, it was so relaxing. Kaslo was a few short miles to the north, great food and friendly people. Superb brewery, coffee, breakfast, live music in the evening…. Fantastic! Ainsworth Hot springs was a few mile back, 15 minutes. Very unique and well worth it and a very nice restaurant there. Sat out on the deck, enjoying the lake and a drink. Check this out… we went in mid September and was well worth it.
Lots to like but the description painted an inaccurate picture. No kitchen in unit, so no fridge etc as described. No wine which was mentioned, no robes, very little service ot help.
As above
The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. It feels like you accidentally drive onto someone's property, but it was the retreat. It is a cute quiet place to get away from life's stresses and just relax in nature. The view from the rooms is spectacular. There was not a fridge in the room, and I couldn't control the air temperature, but there was a fan to help cool it down a bit. I would recommend it to groups looking for a calm and quiet getaway
Amazing place!, beautiful grounds and view of the lake, excellent room, staff and delicious breakfast (additional cost). Highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.
I got wonderful and sincere welcome, my room was painstakingly prepared, the view, the sauna where stellar, and breakfast was outstanding. This is a special place run by with special people. My stress balloon was immediately deflated up one arrival. The vibe is so calm, and peaceful. The owner and all staff are chill and exceedingly friendly. These people truly care about their guests. I could not have had a better experience. World class. Can you get any better? I don’t think so.
Can’t say enough good things. Can’t wait to return.
Really nice place! Loved the outdoor sauna/hot tub and cold plunge!
Very good, friendly staff and willing to help out. So thanks for the beautiful location with an awesome view. Very clean! Peter & Melody
A stunningly beautiful place to relax, think and enjoy nature.
Amazing
Stunning property and great hospitality! Definitely coming back!
The Sentinel is a magical place. The facility is fabulous and the setting is breathtaking. The staff think of everything to make your stay comfortable. This is my second visit and I will continue to return and bring friends and family.
We didn’t had breakfast but location was completely loving
There is nothing we didn’t like
Beautiful views of the mountain and lake from our bedroom. The grounds were beautiful and peaceful. I loved the hot tub, sauna and cold plunge area .
I wish the room had a fridge, but we did have access to a fridge we could use.
Great stay
Great facilities. Hot tub, cold plunge and sauna all great. Rooms are small but the common spaces are great and feel cozy. Bring snacks as the closest shop is 15mins away.
The views are stunning, the communal space is so incredibly cozy and, the cedar hot tub and sauna was so nice to relax in. The rooms are modern, new, and fresh. We'll be going back ASAP.
Awesome hotel with super friendly and welcoming staff. We were met on arrival by Shannon who kindly showed us around - a first in a while at a hotel. Great room - LOVED the heated floors. Views are out of this world and the grounds and common areas are lovely and feel like your own cosy living room. We will be back for sure!! One suggestion: My wife fell between our room and the lower common room at night - the motion lights were out - had they been working, she would have noticed the stairs.
Beautiful location , amazing views
Just everything - best place we stayed at during our five week tour across East and West Canada: Calm, Relaxing, great beds and rooms and the best breakfast we had. Everybody is friendly and helpful - just go there yourself and relax
Beautiful setting, friendly staff, great food.
Rated as a B and B but the breakfast is not included in reservation and is an extra cost.
The sentinel was so welcoming upon arrival. The vibe was so serene and peaceful, your giving a tour of the grounds by the way were so amazing and well kept. There is a presence of peacefulness as soon as you get there. Was able to turn off the outside world and just relax ,oh and by the way no tv or radio was so helpful. The wifi was great if you needed. The hosts were awesome great people and the food was five star . If your looking for a place that allows you to experience your inner peace and love for life I highly recommend the Sentinel.
Absolutely nothing
This was one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed. The staff was outstanding, so kind and helpful. The room was amazing and the beds comfortable. It was a joy to stay here.
The spa area was fantastic. The view unreal. The accommodations lovely. The breakfast fresh and fabulous.
Nothing. Would have liked plain coffee.
The location itself, is beautiful and the staff were very friendly. The rooms overlook the lake and there is access to the lake however, it's quite a hike.
Guest rooms overlook the lake and face due east. Rooms have no air conditioning or fans and are uncomfortably hot during the day. No exhaust fans in the restroom. Also, no TV's in the rooms and drinking coffee, in your room, is forbidden.
Staff was friendly. Beautiful view from my room. Perfect if there for yoga retreat .
Booking not for a retreat I found rooms quite small , no television, which is okay. I didn’t find bed overly comfortable . Not wheel chair accessible . The window coverings did not allow for sleeping in as the sun was blazing in through blinds very early. No air conditioning so room quite warm. Not for me , but no designated smoking area if one was smoker. Also didn’t look at all to be wheelchair friendly. For what was available in the room I found the price quite expensive compared to other places .
Lean quiet and relaxing
The property was easy to get to and easy to find. As you step out of your vehicle, you feel the tranquility and peace envelope you. The views are absolutely amazing.
There could be more parking, however I do believe that development for more parking is happening. There really is nothing that I didn’t like.
Well run facility with attention to personal well being. Excellent amenities and very friendly staff
Nothing
We had a wonderful, if short, stay at the Sentinel. Absolutely stunning surroundings, perfect if you’re looking for a peaceful break from the outside world. Breakfast was lovely, and we felt well taken care of by the easygoing and friendly staff.
Very quiet and comfortable. The facilities were great and the owners & staff were great. The breakfast looked awesome, but was a tad expensive. I would stay here again!
Everything! Facilities, view, comfort and staff
Nothing
The breakfast could not have been better. Andrea is a magician. Everyone around the table was satisfied, maybe even transported. The kitchen sounded and smelled heavenly. Everything on offer was nutritious and beautifully-presented.
View was excellent! Wood fire sauna was great! (Floorboard needs to be nailed or screwed down) French chef "Andrea" was incredible and so hospitable. She made us feel like the most important guests. Food was off the charts excellent! Greeting upon arrival was great! Grounds and room was clean and peaceful. Very well managed.
Hot tub needs a step to get in and out. Also needs something to assist with hot tub cover removal and replacement.
